We just have a $5 deal with Blockbuster where we can get up to two discs (DVD or video game) per month, one at a time. The problem with Blockbuster is that there are very few streaming videos available that don't cost per video, and the few free ones they have aren't all that interesting. They do offer something with the blue box, but there aren't any near us, so we don't use and therefore I don't know anything about that. Before we signed up, we went into a store and asked lots and lots of questions. It's non-contract and easy enough to get out of if it doesn't work out. I'm not sure if they have any loopholes they use to get out of doing what's right for the differently abled.

I was looking at the Blockbuster plan online a few days ago and noted they still had the dvd mailing included. I still don't know how big a percentage of the online streamed videos are captioned or subtitled in the downstream process. The trouble my deaf friends have all had with Netflix convinced me not to get involved with Netflix. They are all irate with having to pay essentially twice - once for the downstream videos and one for the dvd's.

We have the Game Stop shops too, also a local (I think? Or Kansas only?) chain called CD Tradepost. They all do the games as well as cd's & movie dvd's, but so far I've not gone to the GameStop shop (I feel out of my element there, like I need to wear black clothes and look like "Granny Goth" to be allowed in, just "pre-judging" with my few attempts at going to them before to find a part for one of our early generation gaming systems about 5-6 years ago, in the years BW*. *Before Wii*). So guess I will need to check them out.

But since they are all "in town" (we're kinda in the county suburbs, close enough to go to town but not quite as far as being "out in the sticks", I'd be more inclined to check out the Blockbuster deal, with regard to captioned downloaded movies or downstreamed, I guess it is. I dislike when companies figure out all sorts of "legal ways" to loophole out of being in compliance with the various laws addressing accessibility of video to anyone ( deaf, blind, etc).

And with your experience on Blockbuster, does that include the use of those Blockbuster video rental box/kiosks (the copycat to RedBox)? Like you could rent from one box, return to a different box on your way to grocery store or to get gas? Most of the Redbox is that way (handy for traveling ... Get a Redbox for the kid(s), let them watch while we travel, and return it some other place along the way... So I didn't know if Blockbuster was that way too?

Thanks!!

I had no idea Redbox rented games either! How cool is that?!

We have a Blockbuster video plan like Netflix has, but they also have video games with theirs, not just videos like Netflix. That's another good way to try before you buy.

We buy a lot of our games from GameStop. We almost always buy them used. They cost less, plus you have seven days to return it if you don't like it. You can't do that with
new games, only the pre-owned ones. We have NEVER had a problem with any of the games we buy used from GameStop. They always work just fine.

I've also noticed some of the older Wii games on sale $10 - $13.99 and $18.99 at BigLot stores - but I don't know if they are all across the country. (they also carry the other game formats too PS3 or whatever it's called, XBox?)... the ones here locally tended to be non-active like Jeopardy or that other talk game show (the one that Vanna's on, yea, Wheel of Fortune). Might have to check at www.biglots.com to see if there is one in your area (looks like none in Alaska and Hawaii but in a lot of the places I could think of in the continental USA.). It's kind of like an ongoing garage sale - ya never know what they will pick up from liquidator sales to carry in their sales...

I'm kinda new here, so not as familiar with the threads here, but curious if people on this team were aware that they can "try before they buy" various Wii games (including Zumba and Just Dance series) on the Redbox DVD rental system? It's one way to verify you'd like a game and then can start checking for discounts, bid on eBay, etc.

I've never tried the Blockbuster boxes so don't know if they are set up same way.

I can repost this elsewhere if there is a better thread line (or you can, since you are more familiar with it, as the leader.).

I was looking at a video link posted by a Sparker on another team I am on - and you know how that goes, one good video deserves another, and pretty soon I discovered a range of videos showing ordinary folks like us having a great workout on the Wii!!

Here's a couple that I think are darling!!
