Hi Everyone. It is a sunny but cold day. Hopefully it will heat up a bit.

Heather, the gadgets are great. It is fun to find new things that really help. I know my mom used her roof shovel all the time. I don't get enough snow to do it. It does make life much safer, though.

TC, so sorry you are still having a lot of pain. Hopefully you will get an idea of what to do next. Until then, it is probably good to rest. I don't know about the ice. It is hard to do that on your own. Stairs can be a bother at times.

Eileen, I'm sorry your feet are painful. Have a fun visit with Mindy.

Sharon, I'm glad you are dealing with family as you can. There are no good answers. Whatever way you need to say goodbye to Norm's brother is the right one whether or not it is conventional. I haven't had a "proper" funeral in the family for many years. I don't know that there is a right way to do anything any more.

I do agree that meeting as a family and sharing memories is great and "over food" even though people don't travel long distances is a great way to do so. As a genealogy buff, I think there needs to be a paper trail or a physical trail somewhere for those who follow so they can find information and clues if needed. Other than that, it is a personal choice.

Today I'm dealing with the poor puppy. We moved the crate which works better for the flow of family (28 last night) but the dog hates being banished to the laundry room. With the open floor plan it isn't a big deal but to him it was awful. Such sobbing and crying last night. I finally gave up and held him as we slept a bit in the recliner. He's stayed very close to me today but doesn't like his crate today at all. I'll have to work on that. My hope is he can wander the house soon and won't have to live in the crate.

Have a great day.

Morning!
It's a foggy day here so close to the water, but hot and humid! We did a 1 mile WATP's at Exercise and then we popped in a Richard Simmon's Sweatin To The Oldies. We passed on the chair yoga as we were all ready to go take showers!

Norm is up at Woodcarving which you all know he enjoys. Yesterday he sat with several male friends to watch the Nascar race which also helping him through his grieving. Unfortunately, the race was rained out but he still got time with his friends.

This morning Norm's sister called me to talk. She is staying with Kay for the whole week. She wanted us to know that Kay is very sincere when she says not to come home. She wanted to call when Kay wasn't around to let us know how upset Kay was because Terry & Arlene have been quick to tell us that they couldn't tell us what to do so let your conscious be your guide. It really was a guilt trip for Norm. I guess Kay has had her own issues with them over the last week and is just trying to get through all this without blowing up on them. Like I say, Terry and Arlene put the dysfunction in the family without even realizing it. They mean well.

Marianne - I believe a service really puts closure on a death. I truly wish we could be there as it would be good for Norm but after Kay and LuAnn encouraging us not to come home, I think Norm will decide to remain here.

PJ - Norm and I both are quick to say just cremate us. Norm is OK with a Memorial Service but only wants cake or cookies. He doesn't think it's necessary to have a luncheon. He believes that practice started when people traveled by horse and buggy. They fed them before they left to travel home but that it's not necessary today. My own belief is that it does friends and family good to grieve together. Ron felt the same as Norm (perhaps their upbringing) so Kay was just having cookies at the funeral home but her kids wanted a church service and luncheon. It is a personal decision and I would never judge anyone for their decisions.

Ruthann - you are so busy, it's always glad to see your posts. Perhaps when you get your cousin settled and the house sold, things will slow down. Although, Terry will keep you busy but it will be fun stuff and not the stress you are dealing with.

Eileen - I am glad Mindy has arrived, let the fun begin! I doubt that Kay will have another service but she might have a family gathering at their property, especiall if she decides to spread his ashes there. She never did enjoy going up north to their property. It was mostly a hunting place for Ron. She said she would need to sell the land for financial purposes so that may make her decide not to spread his ashes there. Too soon to know.

Busy day. Off to church with mom in tow and a rush out the door when Mindy text she was here. We were only about 15 mins away. Stopped for lunch at Luby's which wasn't that good. I think it may be the oldest in town. That gave us a 2 hr. window to rest and then up to set up for ice cream. Did Brownie Sundaes today and will next week again.
got a lot of pain in my feet with all the working yesterday and running today. Will be good to hit the bed tonight. Mindy's was up an hour earlier than her usual 4:45 AM and goes to bed at 8 PM. I am sure she will go up to coffee with dad tomorrow.

TC, Roger and I have both had meniscus tears, I have 2. We both had the MRI and with all the shaking and rattling the machine does, it must have pull the "flap" back into place and neither of us have had pain there since. I hope this works for you as well. Everybody has given good ideas for you. It's hard with steps.

Sharon, I agree that Norm will work it though when he decides what to do. Do you think once the family is all together, they might hold a private Memorial? By spring it may be a little easier to enjoy the memories shared by all. Mom will be buried beside dad and my brother, Russ. His wife from CA. may be buried with him as she wants cremation and one set of ashes can be buried in a single grave.

Well i have a few minutes before I have to leave again.
Today we have karaoke with friends and we also have a dinner and play at 5:30.
Ia m glad Terry looked at the calendar. I forgot about it.
Just got back from church. The faucet was leaking in Terry's shower and I have been working on it and fixed it. So now I should be getting ready to go and I feel like I have NO time in my life.
I have been so busy with my cousin that I am exhausted.
I hope to take tomorrow off but that will be a joke. I am ready to cry.

They called from Yuma and there is something going on with the water that waters the lawn. I paid them to put in a timer and my grass is turning brown. What a joke. Just something else to add to the list.

Norm and Sharon: Mt heart goes out to you both for the loss of Norms brother. It gets harder as we get older. For sure.

I wan to be cremated and my son can sprinkle my ashes as he drives down the street. I told him I love to travel.

Sorry running out of time. I must go. Later

TC what about getting a portable ice maker where you could get to it for your ice packs.

Sharon I think your doing the right thing letting Norm decide. Frank and I both want to be cremated with no services except for family to see us in the funeral home. I want to be scattered Frank has not decided whether to be buried and where if that is what he decides. I think more and more people are opting for cremation.

TC, so sorry for your pain and what looks like a long recovery. How about getting an ice chest upstairs with a bag of ice for the day? Could your mother or a friend help with that? I know several people who decided not to have surgery for a torn meniscusó seems to be some debate, at least around here. Hope you trust your doctor and sending good thoughts. emoticon

Sharon, my mother didnít want a service after my father died ó my brother and I went along with her but I always regretted that decision. Everyone grieves in their own way. Stress eating is sure understandable just now.

Should finish our taxes today and organize files. Gorgeous sunny day with temps in the 60ís so taking dogs for a walk later this afternoon.

I went back and read all the posts I have missed.

TC - I am sorry about your knee but if it's a torn meniscus won't you definitely require surgery? I didn't know they could heal on their own.

We just talked to Ron's wife. She called especially to tell us we didn't need to come home. They did have Ron cremated. She did not want a funeral but her four kids overode her decision and so they are having a service on 2/26. It would take us two days to get home with an overnight stay plus Nala doesn't travel well in a car. And then again to come back here. All for a 2 hr service. Kay said others that are gone for the winter, like her brother won't make it either. She was very convincing. I am leaving it up to Norm as I don't want to have him ever come back on me about a decision.

Marianne - Happy to hear the RV part has arrived and they can finally get the repair done so you can have it back.

I want to thank everyone for your warm hearted posts, Spark Mail and Spark Goodies. I just want you to know how much it has helped. I showed all of them to Norm.

Sharon, HUG's to you & Norm. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon We have seasons to our lives. Remember not all cancers are treated the same so outcomes vary. Sis will have to stay positive for best outcome. Prayers out daily. I feel bad for Norm & brother. I hope they can mend before it is too late. I agree with Marianne about not feeling like you have to be upbeat all the time just because you are our leader. We all need to have a sounding board and we all love you so keep coming here.

WG, the way the world is going, I wonder if Disney will honor the passes for all the parks or just the original ? I can see them wanting to save some money there after so many years. The puppy is now homed up with the laundry, eh ? LOL. Ours stayed in the kitchen. Linoleum, life saver.

Heather, wow, neat inventions. I can see Alex saying that about you, you practical girl, you !

Eileen, I am glad to see the new service is working well with mom so far. That HAS to be a relief. Sure is cold at home.

PJ, I like your park. Gorgeous.

Thank God for the walking stick mom got us. Mine is in the camper but Mike found his and it is helping a lot, Problem is I can not go to work with a cane. MRI scheduled Thursday along with first PT session but I have been doing PT on my own almost a month.

Ortho doc seems to think my pop was a meniscus tear and I would have to agree but the MRI will tell for sure. At this time, I am thinking no to surgery but will have to see what MRI shows for sure. RT knee seemed to be feeling better but tried walking the 25 steps to bathroom 4 times yesterday very slowly w/o cane and knee is more panful today again so may be going too fast. I have read it can take as long as bones to heal 6-8 weeks.

Ice helps. Problem : bathroom upstairs - need hourly, kitchen, ice downstairs. Mike and kid in So. English again. He does love his lil house. Getting about half of normal back on taxes so that really hurt my vacation fund. Will have to try and save another way. Right now I use 2 credit unions. The second one I put the money Marissa pays in rent in case someone says I have to give it back, LOL !! I have my RV financed thru them also.

I have to get up and walk every hour, bike 20 minutes 3 x daily, stretches leg lifts etc x 20 at least 2 times daily. Should lose weight, right ?!!

SO sorry to read about Norm's brother Ron

Sharon....
SO sorry that they found cancer doing your sister's hysterectomy....that is so sad. There is no way to tell if the chemo shortens one's life or not. The one thing that always seems to win with cancer is a positive attitude and the will to live! ( whether you do chemo or not )

HI everyone. It is a cold and gray day but I'm not going anywhere. I did hit the grocery and get some things for stuffed shells for the grands. I'm doing portobello lasagna for the ones who like mushrooms. We'll have fun.

Sharon, so sorry for Norm's brother. I'm sure he would like to be there. It is hard to grieve when you don't see the reality. Sometimes it is nice to write down some memories of his brother and share them with his children.

PJ, it looks lovely there. I am glad you are getting walks in.

Marianne, hope the RV gets fixed soon. it will be nice to get back to your fun times.

The kids are attending a service for an uncle on their father's side. He was dead ten days before their father got around to telling them he was dead. Ex claimed he was overcome with grief, but I don't buy it.

I've got to clean up before the kids come tomorrow.

Have a great day.

Sharon, this is a difficult and stressful time for you both ó please donít think you have to only post upbeat news. All of us care about you, and send Norm our condolences. Sending love, hugs and prayers.

PJ, so glad you posted those pictures ó it looks like a beautiful place to camp.

One hopeful thing is the part for our RV arrived yesterday and we should have it repaired by early next week. Fingers crossed. We wonít be able to take a long trip but have some getaway plans in California for March and April.

Sharon we are all here for you. Stay strong. The service when you get home will be nice but I'm sure Norm is wishing you could be there anyway.

Eileen I hope that things continue to work out with your mom and the in home care.

Busy day so far. I did a load of luandry and walked while they washed and when they were drying. Have a chicken in the crockpot that should give us at 2-3 meals. Vacuumed and mop the floors. Just sitting down drinking a protein shake. Frank is outside doing all his setting up things. I see the clothesline is going up now. We found out that one of the older widowers won't be here after this year. He was the last of the elder ones that were here when we started coming. He celebrated his 94 birthday this week. Going into a retirement home. Will be sad to not see him anymore but it is understandable.

Here are pictures from where we are now. Pelicans that came to greet us soon after arriving and then a picture from our front door and the beautiful view of the lake. We are among big tall pine trees here in this park. Much different then then desert area of Falcon.

Well, we got the call this morning that Norm's brother has passed. All his children were able to say their goodbyes. As usual, Norm isn't saying much. He took a long walk to be by himself. I was concerned but he said the reality is hard to accept being down here. One of the last coherent things he said before he passed was that Terry & Norm need to put their spat aside and behave like brothers. Norm agrees.

His wife called late last night and said don't bother to come home as he is being cremated and she will have a Celebration of Life Service at a later date. We were OK with that but this morning we found out his sister in KY is flying in to be with family. She will spend a couple days with Kay so she isn't alone. So the other siblings are there to grieve together except for Norm and for that we feel bad.

We also got bad news on my side of the family yesterday. My sister that I am so close to had a hysterectomy a week or so ago and the lab just came back and said it was cancer and that she will need chemo treatments. I didn't dare tell her that Ron's death was speeded up with his chemo treatment!

Sorry to just give bad news - hopefully my next post will be more upbeat!

Hi everyone. Hope most of you are having a good Valentine's day.

Sharon, I'm so sorry for you and Norm. It is so hard to lose a sibling. I hope his brother can pass peacefully and his family can be with him.

If you travel, I hope you are safe and the weather is not too bad.

Eileen, so glad your mom is doing well with her home health aides. Hopefully this will work well and you can be at peace.

Heather, the shovel looks good. I have had only a couple of ice storms in my life and used a flat head shovel to get the icy stuff off. I still use it when I have packed snow/ice but it is never all that much and usually tire tracks.

Marianne, if I didn't mention it before, congrats on getting new hearing aides. It is good that you can hear better.

TC, that is miserable to have that sort of pain. I hope the ortho can help you.

I'm off to do more laundry and move the puppy to the laundry area. He's been in the main room but having the kids for dinner Sunday so he needs to be safe and I need the space.

Have a great day

I wish I could say it is a Happy Valentine Day but our hearts are grieving. First they called to say Norm's brother was going downhill so they were taking him in to surgery. Now they called to tell us the doctors are not going to do surgery as his body is shutting down and he's not going to make it. So now we are waiting for the call to say he has passed.

Norm is off getting our oil changed on the car in preparation for a quick trip home if necessary. We haven't discussed funeral arrangements so we don't know what or when that will be. He may be cremated with a service later or a regular funeral.

So please pray for Norm and his family!

What a beautiful and cool day today. The sun finally made it's debut! The temp stayed in the upper 60's but when out in the sun it felt warmer.

Mom said she was grumpy as the gal kept knocking on the door and mom had to get to the door. It was unlocked but the gal did have a different address so it was the thing to do. They got along well. This lady has kids in the 20's with the youngest of 14. Mom got a shower and was quite refreshed. Made for a good attitude today. This lady has a strong hispanic "twang" but hoping mom can soon have no problem chatting. Tomorrow is a different gal that will be doing the driving to her hair appt. and nail appt. That will cover the 3 hrs. We have been making the evening meal and taking it over as we have steps that we don't want mom walking. So tomorrow, beings it's our game night, we will be eating an early meal so we can get to our friend's home.

Today was a sad day as our next door neighbors moved out to a single floor home in Mission. They have had trouble walking up their steps into the house. Really nice people and will miss them but have a couple moving in that we know. The man, Bob, is in rehab after 3 different surgeries in 1 hospital stay. Aneurysm, then heart surgery and the carotid (neck vessel cleared out). Hope he is ready for the move. They have a daughter living with them now.

Sharon, Roger sure doesn't miss his morning and evening coffee with the guys. Thurs. is the day they all go out to breakfast and the waitress knows them so well, all she asks is if any order changes. I am so sorry that Ron is going through all this. It has to be so tough on both. I do all the office work like you but have a book with all the info Roger would need. I ask questions about what he is doing and why but don't usually do any of it. So we both have a good idea how to continue alone if needed. But physically I would have the harder time.

TC,I feel for you. Pain is pain but the level is what takes one down. I hope you had some good info today and that you can be much freer of the pain. Canes and walking sticks can be a life saver. Feel better!!! I think we are having the weird weather as you all are too. No Jan/ hard freeze but getting it tonight and this week.

Heather, I looked at the sites you posted and showed them to Roger. He has seen the snow peeler but not the shovel. Loved the shovel switch over. We don't worry about that now but if needed we might be able to get our kids to clear the roof. Apparently there has n't been much snow so rooftops aren't bad. BUT the temps this week are terrible. Makes me love the 60's with a wind chill. Home is going to be -35 tonight windchill. Will be using a fair amount of gas for the furnace at home this winter.

TC....poor you! emoticon it is great that you got an ortho appointment so quickly! emoticon

Sharon....like others said here~~ it is never easy for people & families to make a decision on whether or not to continue treatments. Everyone is different in how they think. Some say they will do anything & everything to continue living....Others say...I've had enough, I just want to live whatever time I've got left with a better quality than I have doing these treatments.
For myself....I have mixed right now ( if I had ca and having treatments ) Part of me says I would stop them after a certain time....the other part YELLS at me that I do not want to die!

A friend of mine in Scotland died at age 48. She decided NO treatments. She was a nurse and said she would rather take whatever time she had left with family & friends and not being sick from treatments.....because she felt in the end she would die.
It is funny how people think....my friend smoked and continued to smoke till she died~~~ when people would look astonished when she lit a cigarette ....Ann would say something along the line of~~~~
* Why the F%# K not? I 'm going to die anyway! * Boy oh Boy did that shut people up from telling her she should'nt be smoking!

Here in Canada you can request to die on a certain date with Dr's assistance. This is not done willy nilly....there are all kinds of stipulations before 2 doctors approve this.
Do they have this in the USA?
Glad Ron is showing some slight improvements..... emoticon

Eileen....oh the trial & tribulations of dealing with Moms eh? I hope your Mom * likes* her home worker.....THAT is the answer to her accepting the services. My Mom had an excellent worker when she was at her Apt. and she became like one of our family. Another *daughter* went well for my sister when I was up here 100 miles away. So much better for you when you go north again if you know Mom is being well taken care of..... emoticon

WG.....WOW~~~ A 35 YEAR Old Disney pass that is still viable today! That is emoticon

PJ....Even our weather here this winter has weird changing temps....yesterday it was 25F. Tomorrow they will be 1.5F with wind chills bringing them down to minus 15F
It has been doing this all winter here.
Alex bought a portable charger years ago and it has paid for itself many times over. If our battery died it seemed we were in the middle of nowhere emoticon

Brenda.....I love walking outside in winter but don't do it often because I always worry about falling and breaking something.... emoticon

Marianne.....happy to * HEAR * that your hearing aids are working well emoticon
Sorry...could not resist the pun....
I really love ya ...ya know eh? emoticon

Arlene.....my sister & I are going to do one or two yard sales this summer. Her basement is full of *stuff* from my Mom's apt and from her MIL's house....plus she and her hubby are pack rats! Just wait till she gets me to help! emoticon

HiYa Kat.....how are you doing? emoticon

Ruthann....my my my.......you are going to be played out! I would rather shovel snow any day than do all the running that you do~~ but all that movement should help you lose weight or keep it off!

Yesterday I shoveled (raked ) snow off the roof.....my next door neighbor brought his state of the art roof cleaner over to let me try it... I fell in love! So went and ordered one at our local hardware store today....

Plus got me a Shark Shovel

Good morning !

Worked yesterday, snowed, so had to be really careful in parking lot. Thankfully, I did not fall but coming up stairs at home, I heard a loud pop in RT knee and super bad pain. Could not put much weight on it to get up other 8 stairs and hate to admit it but cried the whole time. Mike found his walking trail stick and I am hobbling around this morning. A tad less pain with the stick. 1:30 ortho appt so I am hoping they help. Glad they could get me in and my sweet momma will drive me there. Tired of being in so much pain. I rarely have pain over a 4-5 and this is consistently 7-10.

PJ, I can relate to the lack of sleep and grouchy hateful speech. I do that. I hope the truck got fixed and that you have decent weather at the new park.

Eileen, I can see why your feet would hurt after all that work at the ice cream social. I am glad mom is at least letting the workers come in. The concert sounds lovely. You Texans are having really weird weather.

Ruthann, you have a lot of work ahead of you. I hope you can get the MH sold and I hope the sale is not too much work.

Sharon, prayers for Ron I hope he IS doing a bit better. I have no idea what Mike's plans are as far as moving or not. He has mentioned nothing and I am guessing he just likes being able to get away from here for awhile. The house has always been his.

WG, I hope you had a good time with the grands. Sounds like the puppy training is coming along. I always enjoy them better at about age 2-3.

Arlene, that is good news about the stents in your eyes helping. I hope you do get off the drops. The sale will be a lot of work. For the money I make, it is no longer worth it to me. I also get frustrated by people stealing my stuff or asking a dime for something I have fairly priced. I just donate all my stuff now.

Marianne, new RV part tomorrow... Yay !! Do you have the new hearing aides already ? I hope they are working well.

Good Morning!
The sun is shining brightly and not a cloud in the sky! In fact, there is about a 2" gape in our side curtain and the sun managed to shine in that crack and it was right in my eye! Woke me out of a sound sleep at 7:30.

Norm did not go to men's coffee this morning. It seemed nice to sit and converse over coffee in our own home for once. Of course, I made my meal replacement keto coffee but still it was nice to have company. Now he is off doing his woodcarving class. When he gets home shortly after 12pm, we are going to go get a lunch out and then doing grocery shopping.

Our weather would be much better if it weren't so windy! The wind makes it feel cooler than it is.

Eileen - I hope your mom get accustomed to having help and comes to enjoy it. Are they just young girls or mature ladies. I would think she would be happier with someone mature. Best of luck with it. Poor Ron, he is getting no nutrition yet. His digestive system is still in distress. He is only getting an IV so he doesn't get dehydrated. He can't get up or move so they have a catheter for his urine but he also has diarhea so bad it just runs out of him so they have some type of tube inserted so his bed remains clean. Perhaps you know what that involves. It is so sad. It's difficult to believe he will get better but we are praying!

WG - you probably understand about Ron as well. Poor Kay, she let's Ron do all their personal bills and paperwork at their business (drycleaning). Now she sees the error of that. She has to transfer money today to cover her payroll and doesn't even know the password! So she is hoping to change that when (or if) Ron recovers enough to tell her the stuff she needs to know. Unfortunately, a lot of couples end up in that situation. Norm would also be in a world of hurt because he has me do everything with our financial business. I also would be in a world of hurt as he physically takes care of me and I barely know how to change a lightbulb. Something we all need to think about.

Did you ever find the Disney pass? Disney is so expensive now, I hope you find it and they honor it.

PJ - I hope you have a safe and fun day of travel. It's windy but not enough to bother too much if your weather is like ours.

No rains last night or today. It was still misting early AM. but by the time breakfast was done, it was done. Still cold for people here, even a little for me. High of 58 for McAllen. The house kept getting cooler and cooler so finally turn the furnace on just to warm it. Sill turn it off when going to bed. Another cool day tomorrow.

The last card day tomorrow and the 1st day of mom's helper. I have her coming at 8 AM. Roger will unlock mom's door and the gal can start breakfast. Mom doesn't even have to get up but I know she will. The assistant will be there for the first half hr. of cards. I planned that so I can see how mom is dealing. Fri. I am having mom covered for her hair appt. and then nail appt. right after. The helper will be the one driving mom's car to the appt. I won't be going and and quite curious how it's going to work out. This is apparently how they get the car keys away eventually. Time will tell.

WG, I hope the pass is found. It is so expensive now to go there. I know the kids will love it. I wish we could have taken the kids and grands now but not realistic.

Sharon, I am glad there is some improvement in Ron but certainly understand the thoughts about some to no more treatments. Prayers will continue. The weather has certainly be crazy this winter for us. We are so far behind in rain fall, it's close to a moderate drought now.
Temps have gone above normal to cold but no frosts so it's even warmer in the cold.

PJ, I hope your truck problems are solved and few and far between. It is good to have a charger available. We had to use one last fall when we came down as we were not aware the newer cars have to have the battery cables disconnected when not run for a month or have someone start them and run them. So the car was more than dead when we tried to move it to unload the camper. Had the charger. HOpe you get on the road as planned tomorrow.

Hi everyone. It is quiet here right now. Puppy down for a nap, Enterprise is watching a movie and the other grands are at school.

I am texting DD and DS trying to find his Disneyland pass. He won a day pass when he was 5. He turns 40 in 6 weeks so it is quite old but it doesn't expire. He wants to take the kids there. It's been in the works since their mom died but he didn't want to do it quickly and then things happened. It will be two years so it's not a long time but long enough.

I think we located where the pass is. I don't know exactly but know where it was put when I was handing out things or getting ready to hand them out.

Sharon, glad your BIL is doing a bit better. It is a hard decision to decide whether or not to continue with treatment. Some people survive a long time and others not at all. There is a book I read about these decisions. It was recommended by a doctor friend. It talked about accepting the decisions and asking the person what they want to do with their lives. Sometimes that helps make the decision rather than just trying to live longer because it is possible. Some people decide to stop treatment so they can do what they want with the time they have left.

PJ, happy trails to you. It will be nice to go to the next place. Isn't the fishing better there?
Have a good safe trip.

Eileen, glad your first visit went well. Your mom can play games as long as she keeps the home health people. Going around on a rolling chair isn't a good choice but my mom did the same thing when she had a hard time walking. Hopefully your mom will be comfortable with the plan before you return north.

Arlene, I would miss my nearsightedness. I use it all the time. I suppose I can live with that since there are alternatives, but it is a challenge for sure. I hope your stent works well.

Marianne, the talk about how old your kids are has been fun. It is interesting to remember as it doesn't seem like my kids should be as old as they are. Of course, since I'm so young, they can't be that old.

Have a great day.

Good Afternoon!
Thanks for your prayers. I talked to Kay last night and the doctors are hopeful that Ron will not pass yet but it will take at least a week to bring him around and then he'll probably go to rehab or have home care. The dr said Ron was doing an experimental chemo and when he recovers, they will try a different treatment. At this time Kay says no. If he can return to some quality of life, she is sure he will want to live his remaining time without any more treatments. So he's not better but we are a little more optimistic about him surviving.

PJ - Safe travels to Powell Park. As for TX weather, it's anybodies guess. I see you had the big change in weather too, just like Eileen and us. And we are all scattered across Texas!

Eileen - your mom is certainly difficult at times but she is your mother and I know you will do whatever it takes until the end. I just pray you feel confident about her care when it's time for you to leave. Your concert sounds like an enjoyable evening as well.

Arlene - I can relate somewhat on your eyes getting tired. Some days I have to take out my contacts and rely on my glasses as reading the computer is really hard on my eyes. I hope you got your Marketplace listings resolved. I've never used that but I've heard it's better than Craig's List.

Marianne - I am happy to know you got new hearing aids and they are working well. I sure can tell a difference on the few days Norm does not wear his for one reason or another. It's hard for him to wear them if he's outside in the wind.

As for our kids aging, our DS turned 50 last March and it was harder on us than when we turned 50. It just made us feel so old.

Thank you everyone for your prayers. Considering yesterday we were told Ron was at death's door and today there is hope for recovering, it must be working so please keep praying.

Boy has the weather changed We had mid 90s over the weekend and yesterday it was a high of 57. Still windy and cloudy today.

We spent yesterday going to town for groceries. Today it is packup day and leave in the morning. There is one hitch the truck is acting up DH went to town to get an alternator and hopefully that will fix the problem. The batteries aren't charging so we did get a portable charger yesterday as well just in case but always good to have on hand.

We spent yesterday going to town and getting groceries and a Walmart run. Today is packing up to leave in the morning. We ran into a truck problem yesterday the batteries aren't charging. We bought a portable battery charger just in case and always good to have on hand. Today Frank decided to go and buy an alternator hoping that is the problem.

I will be glad to get to Powell Park on Friday even though it is always cooler and wetter there.

Eileen Your mom is really challenging I am praying that this new Home care will work out for all of you.

Sharon praying for Ron and family It is very difficult to be far from home in those situations. I hope that when it comes to Frank's mom it will happen when we are home.

Ruthann I am so glad things were handled by the niece while you were gone. I know the garage sales are a lot of work and agree that 3 would work better that way you don't have to do it all at once and not be quite as overwhelmed. I hope all works our for you son and he finds a job quickly.

Mariann it is hard to accept our kids are as old as they are. Tony will be 51 this year and Chris will be 49 in May. Wow so hard to believe it has been that long since they were babies.

He is back from town now and I have fingers crossed that the truck can be fixed. He brings any kind of tool he would need with us.

Sharon, My heart goes out to your and Norm. We are both sending hugs and prayers to you and the family.

We did play cards today. Came back home for about an hour to get a few things done and back to mom's to wait for the RN that came to evaluate the situation. Mom was hesitate and wanted me to make decisions as this was my idea not hers. Great starting point. A one hour visit and she still couldn't think about hrs. so the RN wants a call tomorrow as to what time she is to send over the assistant. Mom does make things difficult.

Went to a concert tonight by the Wind Ensemble. We both think this was one of the best ones we have gone to. There was a Bassoon solo and it was awesome! I used to play the Bassoon and had forgotten the octave range. The program was filled with music that gave a mental picture with every song.

Marianne, it really is hard to believe the time has passed so quickly with our kids aging along with us. Jason will be 46 next month with Aaron following in April to 44 and Mindy in May to 43. They are still our kids, aren't they, not grown up to that age!! :-)

Sharon, when we went to play cards at 10 AM the temp was 75 degrees. 2 hrs. later it was 63 degrees!! I was sent for 87 as the weatherman told us (shorts and sleeveless top) so it was a little chilly with the north winds blowing me home on the golf cart. Misty rains all evening. Suppose to get some good rains. (we hope).

Eileen - my eye surgery is success as far as I'm concerned. It's just a learning curve to go from being very near sighted to seeing everything so well with out glasses except reading, we'll get that handled when I go in.

Marianne - did you explain to Pete about the glucoma? There is no reversal at this time for it but with drops it can be controlled and "held at bay". The hope is that the stents he put in I probably won't need the drops anymore.

I finally got back to the Y this morning, the weather was decent and most of the ice is gone from the Y parking lot AND now they're predicting snow and deeper than the deep freeze temps. My body is going to rebel big time.

Ruthanns talk of getting stuff ready for a rummage sale is about what I'm doing too. I have way too much stuff, a lot cake decorating stuff and knitting and crocheting stuff, none of which I can use anymore because of the arthritis in my hands. I've finally convinced my husband to clean the garage so I can do it out there. So I had my daughter bring up a bunch of the plastic tubs she used when she was moving so that I can start to get things pulled together at a decent pace.

Well I'm going to go check out some issues of some items I listed on our Marketplace this weekend. Jenny helped me place 14 listings and today I discovered that they are having an issue with 1 listing, the dumb part is they are all listed the same except for the names. Go figure.

Arlene, I told Pete about your post and he needed an explanation about glaucoma ó fortunately thatís not a problem for him now. I hope your next visit with the eye doc is good. And how wonderful to be able to go see Jenny and stay for a bit.

Sharon, prayers for Ron, so sorry and yes, the distance must be difficult. After last week, Iím trying to avoid Mexican restaurants for a while, which is tough because I love Mexican food. Iím making healthy fajitas for us for dinner today - no cheese or sour cream for me. emoticon

Pete accompanied me on my hearing appointment this morning, the audiologist wanted to give a final check of my hearing with the new hearing aids. All is well. Pete took me to breakfast and I chose oatmeal with slivered almonds. The omelets called to me however. Then we learned that the RV part we need was shipped and will be here by Friday. That should mean we get the RV returned to us next week, but no, not holding my breath. emoticon

Today is my sonís 46th birthday, and tomorrow my daughter will be 44. Iíll be seeing them on the 29th ó hard to believe how quickly the years have gone.

Morning!

It is not a good morning here though. We just got a call from our SIL (Norm's oldest brother's wife) Ron is in the hospital and according to her may die within days. He has cancer and has been having chemo. Norm talked to him on Friday and he was optimistic and doing OK. Then according to Kay, he took a bad turn over the weekend and by Sunday night he was hospitalized. He is so weak they have to lift his head to get him to take a sip of water. So, please if you would uplift him in prayer. Norm and I may have to make a quick trip home if he does pass.

This is when it is difficult to be so far away.

But things are going well here. Yesterday was hot and humid (85). During the night a cold front moved through and we woke up to 43 degrees with highs in mid 50's today. Quite an overnight change. Feb is the worse winter month here in Rockport so the locals just shrug and say, it's Feb!

This afternoon is our Ladies Tea. Then later today my friend and I are taking our hubbies to the Mexican restaurant we enjoyed for Ladies Lunch Out. So it's going to be a busy day and after talking to Kay, I am having trouble focusing on fun things. She was so distraught, my heart breaks for her.

Busy day here. Had to tally all the "tickets" from the social last night. Then did laundry and got the guest room emptied of all my crafts that I am not doing. :-) Of course helping mom goes along with the territory. Made dinner at her house and ate there. She is eating well as long as I cook. Mom even stated tonight that she is getting exercise from pulling herself with her feet and legs in a rolling chair.

Tomorrow is card day and hopefully a visit from the homecare RN to start the process of help for mom. Didn't hear back today so don't know what's going to happen. I need the help. All I have done since coming down is care for her and run with her plus her hospital stay right after arriving.

Ruthann, I know what you are going through. In the future we will have yet more to deal with. Good luck with the sales.

Sharon, we had winds sustained at 40 MPH yesterday. My car door just wouldn't let me out!! :-) Today was better, making just a bad hair day when on the golf cart. A warm day and another one tomorrow before the cold front and hoping the rain as predicted!!

WG, there is no way we will get mom into an assisted living. Already tried and she is going to stay in her mobile home to the last day. She gets very surly when approached with any changes and she can be really nasty. I don't think she would make any friends in assisted because she would hold a grudge against us. That's why we are looking at in the home care. This program can go as little as one day a week to 24/7 when needed. They do IV therapy and skilled cares in the home. I am quite impressed with them and to find it here in TX. is also impressive. TX. is yrs. behind in much of the medical care I am used to in MN. We do leave for the summer so something has to be done so we can go home. Mom has failed a lot this winter.

Arlene, I hope all goes well with your eye surgery as well.

All for tonight Have a great Tues.

Marianne - hope all goes well with Petes eyes. My distance is basically 20/20 but I do need readers for basic reading. I can read the computer screen but only for a reasonable amount of time. I used to spend way too much time in front of the computer. I'm still finishing up my drops for my glucoma. My pressures have been good. My dr wants me off the drops for 3 wks before I go see him in March and if my pressures are good then I may not have to do drops for the glucoma. The surgeon put a stent in each eye for the glucoma. We'll evaluate whether or not I will get glasses when I see him then also.

I have really been MIA here but just don't seem to get time to sit down here and I've even not been reading the posts, tried to get caught up a bit tonight. Darrell's gone doing a Defensive Drivers Class across town so I've got a bit of time to myself.

Jenny was here this weekend for a symphony concert and she asked us to come to her place for Easter so hopefully the weather will cooperate. She's happy to have a home now that she can invite us to stay with her.

Well I guess I best quit. After reading all that I had missed my eyes say it's time. Reading in the evening is harder too.

Later,
Arlene

Hi everyone. Having a busy afternoon but have a short break. The grands will be home soon so I don't know what will happen next. They should be going home in a couple of hours.

TC, sounds like you are the principle caregiver and that isn't fair. It might be nice if the niece moves back to Mike's mom's house with MIke there enough time to supervise and care for her. I don't know. There isn't a good answer for it. Increasing the Internet speed makes it a possibility. Who knows.

I'm sorry you have a hard work week. It is miserable to be tired so many days. My knees liked working every other day a lot more than a few days in a row. A friend who started at the hospital I worked at as a CNA went back to school and got her RN and BSN. She worked at a burn unit for a while and burned out. She then went to hospice which is not a good choice for someone of her energy. She is back at my old hospital working ICU/ER. I think it was the $10,000 signing bonus but it might be a good fit. I guess things went further downhill after I left.

Eileen, sounds like your mom might not be staying in her own place very much longer. It is hard to make that decision, though. She may find that she enjoys the social life in an assisted living and the meals would be regular. If it is close, you can be there a lot but not be exhausted.

PJ, I hope you are getting back to normal sleep. It always helps. It will be fun for you to start step two of your winter vacation. I'm sure you are looking forward to it.

Ruthann, sounds like you will be busy with cousin business for a while. You deserve sainthood.

Marianne, so glad Pete's surgery went well. He must enjoy seeing well also. It will help to see what is going to happen with his eyes before he decides what to do next.

The grands are here. Have a great day.

It is a very humid day today. The wind has went down for a few hours but our a/c has been cycling on and off since 6am. I had a good group at exercise class but due to the humidity we all looked like drowned rats by the end. I came home showered, changed clothes and had to do my hair again. Now I am just relaxing and catching up on SP.

Ruthann - I sure hope your cousin's home sells quickly so you can get on with other things. Now in her new home, does she have someone check on her daily? Norm's mom had to hang a thing on her door every morning to let them know she was up and OK. If she did not, they used their key to come in and check on her. It gave us peace of mind. I bet you are excited that your son will be coming in just a couple months. I hope it all works out for him.

Eileen - what a day you had! Helping with mom and ending with the Ice Cream Social. It is a lot of work for you. I hope you can relax some today.

PJ - I hope your mood has improved. Some days it is just better to keep my mouth shut so I completely understand. I ate some of the Kidney Bean salad and it was OK. Nothing I would hurry to make. I agree it would have been better with mayonaise instead of Miracle Whip!
I am surprised it is time for you to pack up and move on Friday. Your time seemed to go really fast to me this year. I can picture you where you are now and I like that. You'll have to post pictures so I can see what it's like at Lake Sam Raburn

Marianne - I agree it was difficult for Terry to make the call. I put him on speaker and Norm got up and left the MH. He has never asked anything about what he said so I don't think he has forgiven and wants to move on. Now I'm stuck in the middle. Yes, he made the remarks to me but the remarks were about Norm. I hope eventually they will resolve their issues.

TC - I sure never knew Sparkling Water would go bad! I'm glad to know so I will keep my eyes on expiration dates. I still admire your pre meal planning and cooking ahead. I have no idea what my next meal will be. I think I am going to make Fried Cabbage today. I have been hungry for it so bought what I need to make it. Gosh, I have mixed feelings about Mike and Marissa moving. You and Mike have successfully lived together for a long time. Do you think it's because he inherited his mom's home or because of Marissa. It would change your life once again.

Marianne - I am glad there is hope of the part arriving so they can repair the RV. It is almost sad how long it takes to get RV's repaired. We have sure had our fair share of arguing to get it repaired on time.

Dear Lord have I been busy.......

Finished up clearing the MH and called the realtor to take it over. The outside need a lot of help but the realtor said she would handle it. At this point I really don't care who handles it.

Now I am looking at s garage we can't hardly move and and I will start organizing which means things will be coming inside the home until we can organize a yard sale. I am thinking 3 yard sales. Way too much to handle at once.

I have been learning the organized paper work of my cousins since her niece left. Thank God she came and stuck it out until I returned.

I have been over there every day since I have gotten back from the trip. She is a lot to handle. I guess it is time to leave and go see the park mgr. to see what he expects us to do before we can sell the place. They had open house Sunday and it looked like rain so I am not sure people are looking at the moment????
I hope she knows what she is doing for this place needs to move.

I will be leaving March 24th to go up and meet my son and help him drive back. I am praying that he will get a good job after lands here.

The trip was AWESOME! I hated to end it for I know how much work is ahead of me.

Got to run Later.

Had a busy day today and am really tired. Getting mom to church was a little bit of a challenge and a little more when getting her home. Can't put her in the W/C in the house, has to be on the ramp outside the door so need to get her there. Sometimes she can walk it and others, due to the vertigo, she can't. She didn't get dizzy until coming out of church. Then it was for most the afternoon.

Had our ice cream social tonight and served banana splits. We served 157 in a short one hour. We moved. I worked the counter, which I usually don't, and did my job of keeping the supplies going like strawberries, hot fudge etc. We ran out of caramel and whipped cream. We almost ran out of strawberries. So the Activity Directors will be ordering lots for us. Next week we will be doing a brownie sundae. Want to do a strawberry shortcake but I haven't evaluated the cost of all the biscuits, so that will be the following week then back to a week of banana splits!

I did read the posts but too much discomfort in the feet tonight. I need to get to bed and hope it's early.

Good Morning It is another windy day here. I

I only got about 2-3 hours of sleep last night so a little grouchy. Keeping my mouth shut as I could easily snap and be hateful. We did try flying the kite yesterday. Frank did better than I did and I did post a video on FB. No pictures of me as he had to help me and I still mostly crashed it into the ground. But I will keep trying until I get it. It may have been too windy yesterday also. Hopefully before we leave here on Friday we will get a day that is not quite as windy to try again.

Marianne We leave here on Friday and will arrive at our East Texas park on Saturday.

Sharon I have made kidney bean salad before basically you make it like potato salad but with the beans instead of potatoes. I don't use Miracle Whip much but like Hellman's Mayonaisse I switched when I went to lower carb.

Eileen I sure hope the home care works for you. You and your mom (whether she thinks so or not) need the extra help. I set up dads pills in those weekly boxes but it got to the point he was taking so many it was scary.

Not sure asked about suggestions on giving meds. . I had someone mention those electric pill boxes that dispence pills at a certain time. I couldn't use them for dad as he took too many pills at different times of the day. But it would be worth checking it our. I had cousins that used one for my aunt.

I go by the name of PJ and live north of KC, MO. Winter in East Texas.

Onward and Downward

Its always too soon to quit.

It may take me longer to get to my goal than my original plan but I will get there.

Posting at the same time, great minds....

TC, Pete buys sparkling water by the case and I never thought to check expiration dates, thanks for the tip but Iím sorry for you! Iím shopping today for eggplant and zucchini to make a veggie lasagne that sounds good - Pete wonít touch it so Iíll freeze some for later.

Sharon, that phone call and apology was probably difficult for your BIL; he did the right thing in reaching out. As I get older I try not to hold grudges and to forgive people, especially family, but it is so difficult. You are following your heart ó Norm may just want to protect you from further hurt. And Iím the wrong person to ask about Miracle Whip, canít stand it! emoticon

Who would have thought that sparkling water with no sweeteners and natural flavors could expire and go bad?! Yup, tastes like crap. Threw out 2 cases. Expensive. I have eggs boiled for week and will make some egg salad. Will maybe make meatballs and zucchini with marinara sauce for lunches since Mike made roast the other day and all dinners have potatoes and carrots which I currently do not want to eat.

Eileen, you have your hands full with mom. Glad the care people are good and will help her out. Did you figure out the dizzy problem ? Maybe check her pill boxes ? I forget if you set them up for her or not. So sad to hear of another pet passing on. Breaks my heart. Prayers out for you and Mindy/ family.

Marianne, glad to hear to hiccups getting the new license.

PJ, where are you now ? Still hiking or is your weather acting up like ours ?

WG, I do not envy the puppy training. we went through a lot of puppy pads since we worked 12 hr shifts but it was worth it in the end. I have peace of mind knowing my pets will use them instead of bursting bladders. Squeek even pees on them at night if I potty her early and go to bed.

Annie. I liked seeing some of your fur babies. We could not have a doggie door here since we have so many hawks, buzzards, and eagles. All will prey on the dog depending on the size.

Brenda, Liliya is growing too fast. Quite using the fertilizer... LOL !! I can see her energy in the pictures.

Ruthann, good luck selling cousin's home. I hope it goes smoothly and she gets what she is asking for it. Nice to see you back. the cruise was nice ?

Sharon, a 70 mile trip one way ? wow, I am glad you had fun.

Heather, you can keep that white stuff. YUK !! Too much. We are getting freezing rain right now which will make for some fun driving. 39 days til Spring on calendar but if you ask google mini home she says 21 days but if you ask what day she says March 19... LOL... she can not add any better than I Ö LOL !!!

Repeat from challenge page:

I am currently in reset mode. I logged on PC yesterday just long enough to log in, spin points wheel and log points so you all know I am still alive... LOL !! Mike and the kid are in So English getting the wifi speed increased and resetting cameras. I am thinking he is considering moving there ? Not sure but he sure checks on that house a lot. Anyway it is blessedly quiet here and I am enjoying it. Told the kid no more food in trash in her bedroom. Nasty putrid smell and I finally found out why. Ö. SIGH....

I think I finally found everything I need for my taxes so off work Tuesday and will drop them off. Brother Chris stopped by yesterday to show me where his arm got burned by the adhesive on his CGM patch. He was considering quitting his job until he came back after 3 weeks off and they all begged him to never leave again... LOL So, now he does not know what to do. I was no help. I pointed out the positives of both jobs. Lunch with mom today. Crappy work week ahead, work 1 day, off 1, etc all week.

Annie, planning camping trips gives us something to look forward to, absolutely. We have RV reservations with friends at the end of May on the northern CA coast and in the mountains in August; paid the deposits so hope our RV is fixed by then. emoticon

Heather, Pete started wearing glasses in his 40ís, was always far-sighted. The second surgery went very well and the day after that eye was 20/25. The doc expects him to end up with 20/20 in each eye but Pete still wants magnifying glasses for small type when reading. He wonít need glasses for distance. Heís considering a special pair of bifocals with plain glass uppers and prescription magnifiers for the bottom. However, he has to wait for another month before seeing the ophthalmologist.

Sharon, love the picture in my mind of ďmusical RVísĒ trading places, lol.

Eileen, you are taking on a lot with increasing the amount of care your mother now needs, sheís lucky to have you so close and able to oversee health concerns. Hope youíre able to take care of yourself as well. emoticon

There is a faint ray of hope on getting our RV fixed. Pete spoke with the tech on Friday who said the part was just shipped and heíd be able to track it on Monday. Hope itís not one of those 8-10 day shipping stories. Peteís not really supposed to drive too much until the 13th ó Iíll be patient until then. Valentineís Day is a big deal for us, weíre celebrating 34 years of marriage on the 15th, and planning on doing something locally; we usually take the RV to the coast. Then both of my kids and their families will be here at the end of the month to celebrate both of our birthdays, which are a few days apart.

Good Morning!
After a busy day yesterday, Norm and I are trying to just relax today. Norm's brother called me out of the blue to apologize. We have not spoken since last September when he made the remarks at my SIL's funeral. I almost didn't answer the phone but that's not me. So it was an emotional phone call. I said I would forgive and try to put it behind me but I'm not sure Norm feels the same way.

Then my neighbor came over to give me a dish of the salad she made. It is kidney beans, hard boiled eggs, celery, onion with Miracle Whip as the dressing. I have never had it before and she wanted me to be sure and sample it. To be honest, I'm not sure it even sounds good but I will try it. Has anyone made it?

Eileen - your life continues to be chaotic. I am so sorry for Mindy's loss of her furbaby! It is so hard on us as you know. And I am sorry for what you must deal with your mom. I do hope you can get the help you need for her. She depends on you but what is going to happen when you return home.

Heather - Wow! That was quite the snow that was dumped on you. It's a good thing you enjoy it. I can't answer your question about 20/20 vision but I think I mentioned that C&Z have decided not to have Lasik surgery. The dr gave them contacts and said to wear them for a week as that is how much the surgery would improve their vision. Both of them still needed to use reading glasses. Since eye surgery is scary to them, they decided not to have it as long as they would still need glasses.

Annie - It's fun to make plans for camping this summer. By then, we will be back home and our MH will be in storage. We always need a few weeks at home before we are ready to take off in it again.

OKAY......

emoticon emoticon emoticon

Like everyone else I was not getting emails for this thread..... Have re-subscribed and will see what happens...
But not getting emails is really not an excuse eh? We all know this thread is here! So like Sharon....I will check in even if I do not get notifications.

Went back and read all the posts but won't try to comment on everything. See a lot of posts about pets and fur babies but since Alex & I do not have any pets....I will leave all the training comments to those who do have pets... emoticon

I see also comments regarding cataracts ( emoticon Pete.....Good Luck with your second surgery )
But I have a question? Even though I am a nurse...I know very little about EENT surgeries. I have worn glasses since I was in my thirties. My vision is NOT 20/20 in either eye. I do not have cataracts as of yet.
So my question is this...if I do not have 20/20 vision now.....but I develop cataracts later and get them removed~~~ will I still get back to 20/20 vision even though I do not have it now?
Maybe some of our nurses here can answer this for me emoticon

Eileen & Ruthann emoticon

Brenda.....love the pictures of that wee granddaughter of yours & Mike's emoticon emoticon

T C .....ME days are a must for you..... emoticon

Sharon....Pit Bulls & Pugs are two of my most un-favourite dogs.....I really would only go for Heinz 57's emoticon

We have had one whopper of a snowstorm that started Thursday afternoon and did not stop till sometime Saturday early morning.
We spent about 3 to 4 hours clearing snow on Friday....and another 3 to 4 on Saturday ( the two of us! )
Both days were not cold and Saturday we even had a nice warm sun....
Of Course! I was in my glory! But even Alex came back in the house saying....* I enjoyed that* emoticon
Here are a few pictures of what we cleared~~~

We still have to scoop all this yet to back behind the shed and blow it over the fence into the Forestry Dept field as we have no room to blow it in the front anymore.....

Yesterday I hauled some snow off the front of the trailer roof....when I stepped off the railing into the snow to get close enough to the trailer....I sunk to my waist! emoticon emoticon emoticon
Got Alex to give me one of the scoops to stand on....it was a struggle to get out of where I sunk and onto the scoop....LOL....almost lost a boot! It was a comedy of errors! emoticon
But I got there and hauled off the snow....

That's me finished and still standing on the scoop to keep from sinking.....
NOW I had to get off to get down~~~~

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
Believe me when I say there was a huge drift on top of that trailer roof....even though it still looks like it has snow on it.....
Had two FUN days and lots of exercise!

Good for you Annie. My SIL sent a text this evening and she and my DB are already thinking of camping. Kind of put it to us. I hope we can meet up with them when we head on up to MN. for the spring and summer.

Got mom to her hair appt. this afternoon and then decided to make dinner for her and take it over to her house to eat together. She hasn't been eating well at all but sure did eat dinner. Had pork loin, potatoes and mixed frozen veggies. Glad she chose to have a plate full. Will be trying to get her into an ENT on Monday. It's a very strange vertigo she is showing. Want to go to church tomorrow but it will "have to be a wheelchair". Guess we will be taking her with us.

Interesting day. I am late in getting on so won't expound but we did meet with the home care supervisor. Their program sounds wonderful and just what we are looking for. Mom called and wondered if she had arrived yet. Told her yes and mom got really snotty and angry that we were talking without her. I had told mom that we would bring her over when we had chat time. I go the STINK I but good!! It was smoothed over by this gal. Program is basically you get what you need and can back off when ever. They will get her keys and drive her to wherever she wants. Minimum 3 hrs. but once a wk. or every day. Can get 24/7 coverage too. IT is private pay and mom complained about that. I told she can afford it and if she didn't want to pay it that I would. I need the security of knowing there is someone helping. Today I made both her meals and had to take her to the BR again. The gal watched and had me call her later in the afternoon. We both agree mom has to have help and no way should she be driving. Mom was very dizzy on Sunday without us knowing and drove herself to and from church. I let her have it when I found out.

While all this is going on, Mindy sent a text that her furbaby, Bailey had died. She had been in the vet hospital a couple days with pneumonia and sent home a couple days ago. Mindy went to work this morning and had someone go in to give Bailey meds and she was gone. Another tearful day. This was Mindy's baby. She has a pug that she care for from our son but it's not Bailey.

Had to hurry dinner for us and our group for games was arriving early and I wasn't ready. That's the way the ball bounces. The women again lost the games to the guys. Guess that's the way it bounces. We lose 95% of the time.

I read all the posts but it's late so won't respond. Welcome back to Ruthann. Good to see you.

Ruthann - emoticon We always miss you when you're gone! I loved the pics on FB and gosh, you sure had a good time. Now back to reality. I hope the park model sells quickly so you can move on to other things. How is your cousin doing in her new home. I hope she realizes there is no more moving for her. I'm excited for you that your son is moving out to closer by you. Will he be living in San Dimas near you or in Yuma? You do have a few more busy exciting months ahead of you. Hang on, things could get bumpy.

Hi everyone. It is good to hear that things are moving along for everyone. I have been so busy with the puppy that I'm not getting on. Add to that, the kids are out early this week so they are home a bit longer than usual.

Annie, how fun that your fur babies love you so much. How nice that you have to hold hands with your cat. I hope the weather holds for you so you can get out. I can't have a doggie door as there some big winds that come through several times a year with 50-75 mph winds. I don't think the door could handle it.

Eileen, I worry about your mom also. I hope she accepts home health. She may need more than that but it is a hard decision to make and so many people are choosing home health aides and can sometimes make it with that much help.

Brenda, chasing after a little one can be very challenging. It is one of the big reasons we have kids when we are younger. It is so fun to follow them around and play with them. It is also hard to redirect when they get an idea in their heads.

Marianne, hope the cataract surgery goes well. It is so nice to be able to see well afterwards.
I know I loved watching my sister's vision improve as I drove her home from her appointment.

Ruthann, you deserve sainthood after all this. I hope your cousin still enjoys her assisted living. Get that house sold before things change. It sounds like you have some more garage sales in your future.

Sharon, I hope your outing was fun. Good to have a friend move closer. I don't like pit bulls either but my ex DIL loved them. They can be cute and you hear so many stories about how great they are. Not convinced.

Still doing puppy stuff. Have him on a leash all the time and we are connected at the hip so I can help him see when he needs to go out. Crate for naps so I can get things done. The grands aren't good with dogs and they are afraid of them. They keep doing excitable things and the dog reacts and jumps on them. I have a difficult time changing that. I don't allow the dog to jump so it is a struggle.

Have a great day. I need to get a bite before the grands get home..

Good morning everyone!

I donít think that I could chase a baby around anymore. A 10 mile hike would be easier! Can tell I am not around babies anymore. Unfortunately neither of my kids want kids, but I hope one day that will change. They are so career focused.

Sharon I also have 2 cats. One of the cats sleeps with me at my chest and she has to have me hold her paw when we go to bed. If I donít she constantly pulls my hand until I do. I woke up the other day with the 90lb dog at my back, the Doxie at me feet, one cat at my hip and the other against my chest. Great in the winter!

Once my DH retires I want him to visit Texas. I would rather winter there than AZ. A few more years.

I finally was able to work out today. Only did a mile on the treadmill but it is a start. Wanted to take Esme walking, but another storm is on the way. More snow and ice. Happy I am off today and tomorrow.

Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning!
Yesterday and today was sunny and warmer temps. It's still windy and I am ready for that to let up but it's not snow or ice so can't complain. No one would feel sorry for me as it's sunny and in the 70's for the next few days.

I mentioned in other threads that yesterday a friend invited me and two other ladies to go on a Road trip to Victoria. She spent the last three winters there (about 70 miles from here) and she wanted to show us around. It was a good excuse so off we went. It was a fun carefree day of shopping and a wonderful lunch at her favorite restaurant that she was missing.

When we got back we were surprised to see several RV's had changed sites! The neighbor next to us got a new pit bull puppy so they were evicted as our park does not allow that breed. They already have a boxer mix that definitely looked mixed with pit bull so the mgr has just been waiting for them to make a mistake so she could evict them. They were not Winter Texans but workers so they weren't friendly. So, immediately someone went to the office to get permission to move to the vacated site. And that started a round of musical chairs. The lady that drove us yesterday is moving to a site much closer to us today! They have been right down by the water but hang with us all by the clubhouse. They are happy to make the move.

Marianne - saying a prayer that all goes well with Pete's surgery today. I am excited to hear about this 20/20 vision he'll have!

Brenda - I don't think any of us would laugh about how tiring chasing a baby can be. We have all been there, done that! But it is also so much fun to spend time with them and see all the new things they have accomplished. After a day of rest, you will be looking forward to the next time!

Eileen - I'm still not getting notifications from this thread either. So I am just going to start going to the thread as part of my morning SP routine. I really worry about your mom. She was so full of life when we met her and went to dinner with her. I hope the Benodryl helps. I wouldn't be surprised if you figured it out quicker than a dr. You are with her and can see her behavior.

Annie - Wow! You have 4 good sized dogs in your home. You must love dogs. It is often a smaller dog that is the boss. I'm glad Daisy keeps them all in line. I am glad to hear you are feeling some better. I wouldn't want anyone to struggle like I did with Bronchitis so keep aware of your cough and get it checked if it gets worse.

WG - I understand about washing rugs with a puppy! Here in our laundry room, we have a washer and dryer designated for pet related laundry! It's usually being used every time I visit the laundry room.

I'm back but not fully. Working on getting the MH ready for an pen house on Sunday.
The home should be totally empty today an in hopes that it will sell quick.

Niece Sandra helped so much. What a tangled mess she has accumulated though out her life. We have our garage stocked full to the ceiling. We will start sorting when I get the realtor going. That should be today. We will be sorting out stuff starting this week.

Our trip was AWESOME! Weather was great and got lots of sun. But returning to cold temps in the US was hard to bare.
Check out photo's on FB.

Well, lots to say but no time to say it. Have to meet a guy at 9:30.

Son is still coming Leaving MA. April 1st. So I will be flying and taking a low trip back to the west coast.

Eileen, wishing a good outcome with home healthcare meeting. My mother fought it tooth and nail; quite an ordeal but so helpful in the end. I only had to take the written license test, not behind the wheel. At 85, my mother hobbled into the office with a cane and on my arm, took the written test, and her license was renewed. I was shocked. My brother and I did persuade her to give her car to a granddaughter however so she stopped driving.

Annie, I like Daisy, she knows sheís number one. emoticon

Pete is having second cataract surgery today and I brought my Kindle so I can read books. Iím also planning on walking the hospital halls for exercise, itís a huge place.

Nothing new from this corner. Spent a large portion of the day working with mom. Tonight I began to wonder if she as fluid in the inner ear. Got some Benedryl to give it a try. After 3 Dr. visits, not sure where to go but with my gut feeling. Hoping our meeting goes well tomorrow and we can get the ball rolling with the home care.

Still not getting an email for this thread so gotta remember to check in daily.

Over to mom's about 10 AM. She was more dizzy today than yesterday. Groceries came and I put them up. Made sure she had a good breakfast. Did a lot of throwing away with all the magazines and papers she hadn't taken care of. Left at 1 PM.

Off to church to price and organize some of the items for our rummage sale. 4 of us worked until 5 PM and put a dent into the "stuff". Got the linens done. Next is the kitchen items. What doesn't look good to us, we send off to a mission or to the border for the refugees. Lots of people in need down here on the border.

We have a meeting with a homecare organization on Fri. They are accredited by Joint Commission and I feel there is a lot they do in the home that fits mom's needs. I need to have the coverage when we are gone from here. Will see.

Do not know how we did it, but we missed the storm. It was like Hwy 30 corridor was in a bubble. All around us had snow and ice. Now bring me some nice weather so that I an hit the woods with the pups.

Feeling better also. First day in 2 weeks not to have a sore throat and up most of the night coughing. So glad for that. I need to stay healthy to retire!

These are my babies. Esme is the larger and Daisy is the smaller. She is old and has 3 teeth. However, she is the boss. My DD lives with us and has a Minnie Aussie and a 90 Golden. Daisy is still the boss.

Thank you everyone. It is so heart felt to have been missed. I was thinking of you all during the interval of being away but not gone!

Wild day today. I didn't share last night that our grand furbaby was in the hospital with pneumonia. She came home tonight. Saw a picture of her and Bailey has that hang dog look, tired. Glad to have lost another grand furbaby. Our son's dog died 1 yr. ago today and he said to not call him today.

Got over to mom's for cards and she had tried to call me and Roger. My phone was dead and Roger in a meeting. She was so dizzy, she couldn't get her breakfast. Wanted to play cards so we did. She needed lots of help to the bathroom so I pushed the issue of seeing the Dr. and she finally chose her Cardiologist. Went home for the car and Roger was gone. Went to the Iowa dinner. Called and he came right home. Took 2 of us to get her into the car. Dr. didn't find anything to worry about. Back to the car. Mom was hungry and wanted to stop at Denny's. I then found out she hadn't eaten for 2 days except breakfast yesterday. We ate and she felt better, less dizzy but not moving head.

Got home and I got her ready for bed. Did an order for groceries and told her we have an appt. for homecare on Fri. and she will get to sit in on it after we chat with the company. Finally got to my home at 8PM after having to chase Daisy down as we left "grandma's" . Try to find a dog that is black in the dark of the night. Finally found her and chewed her out. She knew she had done wrong and we we got home, hid behind the house. As she finally came in, she went right to the kennel and watched me.
Need to check on mom in the AM and possibly fix breakfast for her. Will see.

Will be working at the church tomorrow pricing for the rummage sale. Have to find time to do some baking too.

Sharon, not getting notified from this thread is what started my MIA and I just did points trying to get to bed earlier. Didn't chat on any threads as they all disappeared. Tomorrow is another dry day even though the front you are getting is dropping our temps well too. Just no rain. It all goes north of us.

Marianne, I wish TX. had the retest to get your drivers license too. Mom gets hers every 6 yrs. just going to the DMV. I bet she wouldn't have a license by now. SHe was dizzy on Sunday and drove to and from church. SCARY!!!

WG, I hear you about the rugs. We don't have any down but Daisy isn't the one that would mark the rugs. Keeleigh was bad about that especially in someone else's home so didn't get to go visiting much of the time.

Time to begin all the SP stuff. Getting late.

Hello everyone!

PJ be glad you are not home. Another storm coming in. My area is expecting ice and then 2-4 snow on top of that. Coming up 44.

Shrimp boil sounds yummy. I just bought some nice big shrimp at the store. Waiting till I feel better to cook that.

Puppies are so wonderful. Even though they have to be taken out a lot it wonít last long. I am luck to have a fenced in yard and a doggie door. Made my training easier.

Computer about to die. See you all tomorrow.

Hi everyone. It's been busy here and not just the little dog although it has been interesting housebreaking him. I'll be cleaning a lot or rugs in the next few weeks. I'd love to wait until it warms a bit so I can dry them outside but might not last that long.

Eileen, glad you are back doing things again. Take care of your back.. Backs aren't very forgiving, are they. Cards are fun.

Sharon, love your shrimp boil. It looks so good. I like your movie choices. There are so many good movies to watch.

Gotta run. Left the dog loose as he was sleeping. I'll take him out twice more before bed and hope that tonight goes a bit better.

Have a great day.

Good to see you back here, Eileen. I know you enjoy the card games - time to relax and think is great. emoticon

Sharon, my weight is up two pounds after our trip, so yesterday I doubled down on healthy eating. Unless I bring meals for me Thursday and Friday, weíll be eating in restaurants again since Pete is having his second cataract surgery and weíre staying overnight near the VA hospital.

Brenda, thanks for thinking of Pete. He is so thrilled with the results of the first surgery ó if this next is successful heíll end up with 20/20 in both eyes. emoticon

Tomorrow I have to take my first written driver test in ten years, because I turned 70 last year. If I pass emoticon the license will be good for 5 years. Both of us will also be applying for Real IDís. Not looking forward to any of this!

I am not sure why I'm not getting notified from this thread so it takes a couple days before I realize I haven't posted here!

Our park has been crazy busy over the weekend. Shrimp Boil and SuperBowl party! Monday my weight was up again and I got mad at myself. I ate very well yesterday and my weight dropped back down. Today is Ladies Lunch Out so I will be careful what I order, especially as I don't know where we are going.

Last week Norm showed the movie, Ghost in the Darkness on Tuesday night. We had a good group of people come. In fact, they want to do it every Tuesday evening and of course, our mgr put Norm in charge! Tonight we are showing Captain Ron with Kurt Russell.

Eileen - good to see you are posting again! I wish we could send some of our rain down to you. Today it is very windy and overcast but highs in the mid 80's. We might even set a new record. But tomorrow a cold front is moving in and we'll only be in the low 50's!

PJ - I am sorry we didn't hook up but Brownsville is still quite a ways from us. I am glad you had fun and got to watch the SuperBowl on TV.

I did go back and read all the posts but won't comment as it's old news now.

I see I had to got to the reading room to get the chat thread again. Just not coming through to my email.

Busy home day today. Laundry, 3 loads. That was plenty for the old back!!

I am working on perfecting some gluten free bread as the products in the stores are so expensive. 1st loaf, pretty good. Previous loaf, a total failure! The bread machine didn't finish baking, the bread was still dough. Used a different flour so today went back to the flour used on the first and got a really nice loaf. I will enjoy it as toast in the AM. I am finding the flour mix makes a big difference.

Got a little humid today so the thoughts of rain were in the air. Another 10 drops while Daisy was out in the yard for 2 minutes.

Tomorrow is card day so a few hours of relaxing and thinking! Last Thurs. my partner and I lost the game by only 25,000 points. Looking for new beginning tomorrow.

Eileen, glad to see you back on here but sorry to hear all your troubles are still plaguing you. Sad about your massage guy and I was hoping mom was feeling better by now. Keep icing and heating your back. My knees are getting better slowly with biofreeze, PT exercises and naproxen twice daily.

WG, spook is a cute name. Good luck potty training.

PJ, I see KC won. Mike was hoping to razz you about that one... LOL !!

I took a me day today and shopped, got a mani pedi, bought dog food, etc. Stopped at the dollar store and found some scoops for the salt barrels and bought another scissor. I could not figure out where mine had gone and was grumbling about it while unpacking stuff as it had been missing for 4 days and low n behold, kid had it in her room. I swear the attention span and memory in her brain is small/ short.

Mike took her for a physical. Still needs a psych eval and then FINALLY, she will be able to start job training of some sort. It has been a slow process as she moved in last aug. I got lazy and made frozen cauli green beans and roast beef from a bunless hardees sandwich for lunches, boiled eggs, got the last of my exercise in and am off to bed. 4 day work week this week and I am already tired... LOL !! Glad I took time for myself today. Also hit the casino but gave them $30. Phooey.

We are back now at our campsite and glad to be able to sleep in our own bed again. Had a great time and the Kite Fest was amazing. We did buy a two string cart to see if we can learn how to fly it.

I love to eat out but 3 days in a row it gets old fast and not very healthy either. Bought groceries on the way home and stopped and picked up our mail.

WG sounds like it will be a bit of a challenge with Spook to get him trained. With him having some poodle will he do much shedding?

Eileen I am so glad you are posting again. You know we were all thinking about and praying for you. Continue to take care the best you can. I hope the new park changes will be for the best. Sounds like it should be better with new managers. Fingers crossed.

Sharon we did not make it down to your area.. We checked on distance from SPI and decided not to drive that far. And spent our last night in Brownsville watching the Chiefs win and eating a nice dinner out. We did go to Boca Chica beach which was isolated compared to SPI but didn't find any shells. Darn. Bought some tamales in Mission to bring back and put in freezer as well as tonights dinner.

Back to my walks tomorrow. And I will be glad to do them again.

Hi everyone. After a lovely weekend in the high 50's, it is 23 today and I've got 6-8 inches of snow everywhere. It is supposed to double by tonight and more on Thursday.

Eileen, sounds like you are doing better. It is hard and I'm sure there will always be a place for Keeleigh in your heart. I'm glad your back is doing better.

Is your mom DNR? I think that some doctors don't like to treat people who have that designation. It sounds like she needs a new relationship. I'm sure you know best, though. You follow her care carefully. I'm sorry she is fading a bit.

Marianne, sounds like a fun weekend. I'm glad you have had fun.

Gotta get going. The puppy is taking a nap but Miss M is here and wants lunch. It is a fun day for sure.

Have a great day

Hi to all. Haven't been chatting with any team for a long time. Too many things happening. Haven't felt like I had much to share. So I will do a short outline of the past month plus.

I don't recall the last post I did. Our Christmas Choir that worked so hard, was really great. Lots of compliments

We lost our little Keeleigh on Jan. 3rd which has been hard on us and Daisy. Daisy is finally coming out of her sadness and actually being much more like a goofy puppy this past week.

Mom has been ill for a month now. She has had a cough and bringing up lots of stuff. I finally got her to go to the Dr. and he did nothing except put her on antibiotics. No chest x-ray or anything. She is to return in 6 months!! So I have been working with her. If you recall, she needed to go to the hospital right after we got here with congestive heart failure and was to go to her heart Dr. but didn't. Getting weaker as time passes.

Started having back problems and had a very deep massage about 3 wks. ago. Couldn't move for over a week. I did stretches as best I could and finally got loosened. Was hoping to get additional relief last Sat. but my therapist fell from a ladder and broke ribs. So no massage for a while.

We are back doing ice cream socials every Sun. except tonight. They had a Super Bowl party and snacks in the hall. Banana splits next Sunday.

Our park managers have "resigned" (probably fired, finally) as of last Weds. They needed to go a long time ago but will be staying until April. Saw their motorhome in front of their home today.

Kind of up to date with a bit of a difficult month. Hoping Feb. is better. It will be as our daughter is arriving on the 16th for the week. It will be a very busy week as it's our rummage sale at church the day she flies home. Of course we have to go to SPI one day.

We are in a drought situation right now. We are told all the time there is going to be rain but over Jan. I think we got a total of 10 drops. 3 nice fronts came through and just waved at us!

All for now.

Eileen

WG, I donít envy you the house training, thatís for sure. After 8 months ours rarely have an accident but we keep them on a regular schedule of going outside. For the first month or so, we duct taped a black plastic tarp to the hardwood floor, used a pet corral, and an artificial turf pet pad. We tried pee pads ó they chewed them up! The artificial turf pad has been a good choice since we take them in the RV frequently.

Quiet here this week-end. Weíre cleaning and packing the trailer today before heading to DDís for Super Bowl party, sheís expecting 15 people so Iím bringing veggie and deli cheese / meat platters. Tomorrow we head home; Pete has second cataract surgery in a few days. The weather here has been a blessing, pleasant walking weather.

HI everyone. Been busy doing puppy care. He isn't very housebroken and it has been a challenge. Also, I still have grands here so it is always a challenge.

Tried "crispy green beans" in the air fryer. Not a good choice. Roasted are much better.

TC, glad you are feeling better. Since our body clocks are 25 hours, it makes sense that Niece is sleeping later. I feel bad for the dog also but maybe she is staying up late enough to get bladder care before she goes to bed.

PJ, have fun on your outing. It sounds like a lot o fun for you. Hope you can meet up with Sharon so you can have fun.

Marianne, my puppy does look like your dog. I'm glad you are the one they go to for loving.

The puppy is a border collie/golden doodle combination. Should be about 30 pounds grown so he will be a medium size dog who can walk and hike. He also will be good for the grands. He is pretty well socialized so it should work well. I'm having a hard time getting him to do his business outside. I'd even settle for the pee pads but that isn't happening. It will take more time.

I've got a fence blocking the "living room" but with an open floor plan, there are a lot of places for the dog to make a mess. I do keep him close but he does wander off as well.

I expect a bit of growth in the next few months as he grows quickly the first six months and more slowly after that. He will be a non shedding dog so he will also need to be groomed. Some people don't mind the shaggy look but since I'm trying to reduce allergens, I will be keeping the dog more groomed.

Have a great day. I've got a lot of cleaning up to get done.

The RV club outing ended this morning, and the spaghetti dinner was a success. emoticon I went to bed by 8 pm and slept soundly, missing the beanbag baseball tournament. It turned out to be a really fun week, I just hope our RV is finally repaired so we can make the next club event in March.

TC, Lola is the ďwhat you see is what you getĒ dog, boisterous and enthusiastic. Lexie is sassy and secretive ó hides all the toys, slow to come when called and has mastered the teen ďwhateverĒ look. emoticon
Hope you can get the rest you need today.

Sharon, Norm is so talented; his students are lucky to have him. The puppies go to Pete for play, and me for food, comfort and cuddles. Despite people taking off for a few days, it sounds like you have plenty to do this week-end.

PJ, hope you get great weather for your trip, however, GO NINERS! emoticon

My older grandson (13) ended up coming with his younger brother to see us for a couple of hours, but he did homework and buried his head in his laptop. I did get a few words out of him though. emoticon
His younger brother played corn hole with me, and despite my best efforts, beat me by one point. He was so pleased.

Good morning friends. I am in a bit better mood today so far. Kid used to get up at 8, then it was 10 and now she does not get out of bed til 11 am. I really do not know how her poor pooch holds her bladder that long.

Tammy, I hope the making bird houses and Tens unit helps Joe feel less pain. they can work well for some people. Seems like it helps nerve pain better from what I have seen. Sounds like mom is inching towards needing assisted living or nursing home. I hope she can manage being home for a while yet because I know that will make her happier than a NH. Hang in there. HUG.

WG. A new puppy !! Fun ! and some work now. Cute as heck though. Name ??

Marianne, Lola is so darn cute ! That face expression is something... sassy ? maybe ? LOL !! I hope the GS visit was fun.

Arlene, I will never envy your north weather. Fog... ugh. I am glad Darrel is feeling some increased energy though. How are you feeling ?

Annie, did I see you are expecting warmer temps ? I hope so. Spring... 30 DAYS and COUNTING !!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon and hopefully just the right amount of emoticon

Brenda, how sad about the plane crash. Your area sure seems to have it's fair share of exciting news. Thank you for you support yesterday. I also talked with mom for a bit and that helped.

Sharon, sorry your site is partially under water. Poor Nala but she gets attention at your evening gatherings at least. It is good you are happy with your haircut and have a little "me" time. Enjoy.

PJ, safe travels and uneventful set ups for you. I hope you have great weather.

Heather, sorry about the posts being lost. Frustrating.

I need to figure out my meals for next week. Sure wish I could cook w/o kid hovering and commenting. I already warned, I am not cooking for them this week. I work 4 days and with my knee being painful, they will be lucky if I am civil... LOL !! Plan is to get off of here, exercise, get some laundry going, boil eggs and maybe a nap. I am beat down.

Heather - I hate when that happens. The other day I wrote out a post twice and lost them! By then, who cares. I am glad you checked in though.

PJ - it looks like you have some plans for the next few days. South Padre and North Padres Islands are two different islands and you can't get to one from the other. You have to go to North Padre Island through Corpus Christi. Just as you enter the island from CC, the Sand Castle souviner store will be on the right. You can leave the island at Port Aransas. They have you drive on to the ferry and they take you across to Aransas Pass. Just a ten minute drive to Rockport! If you get up to Rockport, we are having a SuperBowl party in our clubhouse Sunday evening. We also have cabins (brand new $110 a night) in the park you could rent and head out first thing Monday morning. Either way, we are willing to drive to meet you. We do have a Shrimp Boil on Saturday evening as well.

All our close new friends have left the park. They left their RV's and took off with their cars so I know they will be back! Our next door neighbors are headed to El Salvador to visit family for the next couple weeks. Cathy is the one that had the kidney stones. She is doing well enough to proceed with their plans. They went to San Antonio first to stay with her son. Tonight they are going to a Celine Dione concert and then tomorrow they fly out to El Salvador. The neighbors across the street went home to Arkansas for their son's wedding this weeked. Our closest friends here in the park are going to El Campo (up north in TX) to spend the weekend with their son. So it feels kind of lonesome here in our section of the park!

Norm has to go take his woodcarvings in today and register for the Aransas Pass Woodcarving Show. He has three carvings to put in the show. Also, a couple of his students are also registering their carvings for beginners. Norm no longer can compete in that category. So Sunday we will go and see who if any of them won ribbons.

Sharon - my home is in Zeeland, MI
