Bless him for removing the hazard! It was a dangerous thing for him to do because another vehicle could have come, but it may have saved a life!

DH is asleep on the couch and I am taking a quick break. We did get the fridge cleaned and I have whites beside me to fold and jeans in the washer. The reason I came on was to tell you it was scary for DH but we finally caught a break. DH takes a rural highway to get to school and the end of his drive is very hilly. He came up over a hill to find a very large dead deer right in the traffic lane. He had to swerve into the other lane, hit black ice and temporarily lost control of the car. Thankfully, nothing was in the other lane and he is OK. Once he regained control, he went back to remove the deer from the road so nobody else would face what he did.
Back to work...

I got lots of gifts wrapped, cleaned more in our room than I had planned but it was needed. I have more to do upstairs but will get at it tonight. Hubby was only a bit late for the 8:30 meeting and got the result he wanted from the meeting! So that is a good thing--he is starting to phase out of some work.

We will get decorations up--just not getting at it very fast. Sounds like we will have LOTS of rain this weekend--so not sure if we will get the outside lights up at all! And looks like it will be really cold when the kids are home.DD1 needs to run but it may be pretty cold for her sandals! And DD3 hasn't booked her tickets yet for the trip back to Detroit. Looks like it will cost her more $$.

Terri--hope you get everything done that you have planned!

Lindie--glad you were able to figure out how to fix something with your computer. My mom's printer had a jam--hubby found a video that she could watch and she fixed the jam! She was so happy to see that video.

Well--choir tonight but hubby is late so I have already eaten--he had a party and he ate there.

Good afternoon everyone, just waiting for my lunch to finish cooking then I can enjoy - its another rainy day so inside acitivity it is and I do have 5000 so far so only need the other half and I can do that in phases so its not so daunting.

Dianne, are you waiting for all the girls to be there to decorate? I was wondering if you wanted it to be a family event. I hope you enjoy your in door time today and get lots done. Glad you like youir hair trim, I need my bangs done but the place I would go to, is doing cash only and I do not do cash only - funny their debit machine stops working this month .. anyway, I may just snip the ends myself or go somewhere else next week if its not too too rainy. How is Bob doing ? Did DH get to his meeting ok?

Terri, cats have strange habits they develop over time - Amigo tends to rub his but on the carpet and then poo - it has to do with the poo sacs - so its natural for them to do that IF they were outside, we would never see - but he is inside and Gene cares for that - there is a product you can buy called Natures Miracle Oxy Formula ( orange ) that can remove the urine and stain smell - but so can vinegar and baking soda - we had to do my sister's back seat as when we brought Kartmen to the vets and here, he urinated. A site I looked at states older cats will do this when they are stressed, I'll post the site and you can look at it later when you have time - but hopefully before the New Year - you are sooo busy !! So nice the estranged family member is coming or does come, I know you will make her feel welcome and the two grands, and hopefully there is no drama or hurt feelings.... perhaps that has now passed ? Time will tell. You are getting a lot done and you are right as we age we need to make sure we have things in order so there is no surprise for anyone -I hope your friend's dh can rally enough to put things in order for her. Jehovah hears all prayers, even when we talk wild like Job did, he's so loving that way !!

tuff-6779.html

I will check the link to make sure it works for anyone who needs to read up, there is not a lot of reading but enough when you are so busy !!

Betsy, sorry to hear about another one of your friends, prayers will be offered for them as well - its sad but today even young ones loose friends to various events - my daughter has lots a few friends already and she's not even 50 yet ! Chance and circumstance befall us all !
I hope your able to have the strength this weekend to do all you need to, are you feeling that working during the week is more relaxing then your weekends ? LOL I do hope you can have a calgon moment or two along the way !!

Cathy glad the teacher's evaluation has nothing to do with your position - I was thinking you would have your own - how did your day go today ?

Anne, you sure are busy, when do you leave ? I am sure you are looking forward to having a good family time !

The computer seems to be fixed, its an Acer problem that seems to affect this brand, but I am happy I found a tec who spelt it out so nicely that I was able to follow along and fix it. I better go make sure lunch is not burning - although... being me, that would be normal LOL

Quickly reading yesterday's posts and then I'm heading upstairs.

Our friend survived the surgery! M called to let me know but said that he's not out of the woods yet, as he now needs to recover from the surgery and his heart isn't going get any better. I just hope he has time to "get his affairs in order" because everything is in a mess right now and he would be leaving his wife in a very unstable situation and unprotected from predatory and manipulative family members. Steve and I need to do the same, just to have things laid out the way we want them and to make things easier for our kids when our time comes. My prayer time is sure full of end-of-life concerns lately. I'm so grateful to know that we have a God who hears, loves us, and answers according to His will.

Anne, the assembly line method is handy because I use the same pattern and the same (or color coordinating) fabric and just make little variations to each one to tell them apart for the sisters. I can fill several bobbins and not have to change my thread between garments and don't have to look at different sets of instructions. I got the elastic in one set last night, but was so exhausted and sleepy that I was afraid of making a mistake, so I quit. I'll finish these this morning and then cut out the next batch. I haven't sewn for K's little girls in the past because of the estrangement between her and the rest of the family, so I'm thrilled to be able to sew for these two darlings who might actually get to meet their family for the first time. I hope things go well and that a new beginning is made.

Dianne, I'm glad you were able to get Bob's phone going again. I'm glad you are able to make his life better at this time of his life. I'm sure his dd appreciates you. Get that tree out and decorated or you won't have much time to enjoy it before you have to take it down again. Reading about your pageant reminded me of my days as a SS teacher and all the various Christmas and Easter programs we did with our classes. I have to say that, as nice as those memories are, I sure wouldn't want to be responsible for all of that now. I had programs and field trips with the Chr. School, as well as at church--on top of all the things I had to do at home. Of course, I only had three kids to sew for then, but I made holiday dresses for myself and Jenny and shirts for Steve and the boys--AND pajamas.

We haven't gotten any lights up on the outside of the house yet. Steve's still working on the front steps and is about ready to lay the decking on the landing, but he has to put sealer on the boards first and needs a couple of days of dry weather for that to happen. He took some photos but I'm not sure what he did because seem to want to post upside down (I posted them on my DIY team). I need to go out and take some with my phone and see if I can get them to post right-side-up.

Anne, the kitchen in the rectory must be a big one to allow for a Christmas tree! My kitchen is big, but not that big! Glad to hear good news about your brother.

Betsy, I need to clean out our refrigerator too. I was just thinking about how crowded it is getting and I'm not even sure what's in there anymore. We have eaten our way through all the leftovers and perishables, so there may just be a lot of condiments and such. As I said--I'm not sure.

I may still make a trip to Redding to see my friend and Mom. I'll plan it so that I can do my Christmas grocery shopping while there IF I go. I think the weather is supposed to be clear on the weekend, so that might be a good time.

Lindie, did Gene take your advice on Amigo's feeding schedule? I hope so. For some reason, our cat started peeing on things. Rosie's bed, our bed, a pillow...she had been so good about asking to go outside and/or using her litter box. I don't know what her issue is, but she has been more of an outside cat lately because I can't have that nonsense going on! That smell does not come out of things! Any ideas?

Mare, I hope things are going well for you and that you aren't buried under 10 feet of snow! Is DH still at the VA facility? Check in when you can. We all care.

Time to get my butt out of this chair and into the one upstairs at my sewing table. Have a great day.

Morning! Hubby is off to work--found out at 7:20 that he COULD meet with the person at 8:30--but traffic isn't good so not sure if he'll make it in time. He hasn't let me know. I am staying in today to clean, set up bedrooms, clear table, sew a bit (before I clear the tables), wrap gifts (must do for hubby while he isn't home), plan tomorrow's dinner with friends--will shop tomorrow) and I am still sitting by the computer....This isn't good! LOL

My haircut is the same--just trimmed. The dinner with Bob was nice--buffet so I got him his plate of food. Found out he doesn't like ham, does like broccoli but not the way they cook it to death and, even though he said "no" to me, he likes chocolate pie with peppermint. I only needed 1 glass of wine...and it was a small one. Then rehearsal--the kids were nuts, the costumes will work and I need to email all the parents the words for the kids to learn. That will be today... The pageant will be cute--few kids but they will do all right, I hope.

Cathy--your review should be stunning! How sad that parents do so little with and for their kids. Glad you got her that little something.

Anne--the rectory doesn't have any decorations of its own? I could fix that just from my basement! Hope you can deal with the tree in the kitchen. Hubby moved ours--no decorations on it yet--and the room is better with it there. It will be so nice to have the kids here this year. Wow to the no Mass due to no power. Hope your snow goes. DD2 had delayed opening again--she gets as excited as Cathy! LOL

Terri--it is much faster to do all the buttons/elastic at the same time, I agree. I just don't do enough of that kind of sewing anymore. Prayers for the family--either way. Is Steve making progress on the steps? I am pretty sure it is "yes" cause you want it done!

Lindie--it is hard to get out in the rain/cold/wet. I had to do that earlier this week. Yesterday's pool class ended up almost private--3 people. We did take a collection for the pool class instructors--yesterday's teacher got over $300! She teaches a lot and is well liked. Another got over $200 and even the one not very liked got $100.

Betsy--I don't know how you keep up! I do hope that during the holiday break YOU get a break! My kids are good with traditions but don't insist on things being "just so". DH's family needs to do the same--I think they have unreasonable expectations but then I have never had a large extended family with "their way of doing things". I do hope enough gets done to make next week easier.

Mare--hope all is good. Thought of you when I saw the chance to predict snow for Houghton for the season.

So--I'd best be getting to work!

Hi all!
Cathy, glad the teacher's eval doesn't mess with you! So sweet that "your girl" was filled with so much glee over a small TY critter and the curiosity about gifts with her name under the tree. I am sort of surprised that you can have a tree in your classroom. I'm also surprised that the kids don't open the gifts, lol!

Betsy, sorry about the lost post. I sure hope your friend makes it through that surgery! Prayers! Yay to Firefighter Santa and his Santa friends are up and keeping an eye at your place!

Terri, I think I would do the sewing assembly line, too. Another 2 nighties added to the list! Whew! I bet you'll be glad on 12/25! Did your friend's dh make it? Prayers!

Lindie, I have used my phone a few times to get info for the computer...and vice versa, lol! Hope the fix works!

Dianne, did you change the hairstyle or did you just trim it up? How was practice last night? Did dh go to work? Good luck accomplishing all you planned!

I talked with my brother yesterday. He is doing very well. Thank you for your prayers! He is supposed to "lay low" for 2 weeks. His cardiologist told him he was born into the wrong family. The cardiologist is right...our heart history is terrible!
Rich and I brought up the Christmas Tree at the rectory on Tuesday. Yesterday Fr. L suggested the tree would be nice in the kitchen instead of the living room where it isn't seen that much. So just before heading back to the gas station I moved into the kitchen. It is a bit cumbersome, but it is only for about a month...so it should be fine. I do need to decorate it...but am waiting for Fr. J to get me his Christmas stuff. Previous years we used Fr. B's stuff. I'm hoping that I can finish the rectory decorating today...there really isn't much to do since I do not think Fr. J has a lot of Christmas stuff.
Rich and I will also be working on lights on the outside tree and setting up of the outside creche. If our other helper, Army, comes along to move the wood for the stable from the rectory to the creche area via his pickup he may help set up the stable. I feel like we are late at getting this done...probably due to the 2 snow storms...one last week and one this.
Speaking of snow...we got about 3-4 inches...basically stupid stuff. However, we had a problem due to a truck taking out 2 poles and so we lost electricity. This caused confusion because the Elementary school got cancelled later than snow storm time. No one showed up for Mass until 8:55...we usually have at least 20 people in the church prior to that. So when the 1st person showed up at 8:55 we told her that there was no Mass. Fr. J came into the church right as she left and said he was going to celebrate Mass without the electricity, but since no one was there, he changed his mind, lol! Right after he headed into the rectory about 5 cars of regulars drove through the parking lot. I think only one person was mad. Oh well, what can you do!
Time to get ready for work...I would much prefer going back to bed!

Have a good day!

Anne

Dianne, our snow started too late and didn't last long. Thankfully it was not sticking to roads either---they were too wet---so drive in wasn't bad at all. And we still got to go on our outing. It sure has turned cold here but not the cold of Betsy. You sound busy but the good kind of busy.
Terri, good thing you are getting a heads up on them coming---hope you are getting it all done and can find a day to relax. Hope your friend pulls thru the surgery--prayers for his family either way.
Lindie, is the cat messing with the cords? Hope your fix works.
Betsy, yuck to losing your post. Hope your dh listens to you and does it early. Does he give to the whole staff or just the ones around his room that he interacts with? Sorry to hear about another friend having health issues. You sure are going to be super busy again this weekend. I don't know how you manage to get thru a work week with so little down time on the weekend.
Took the kids to Target, 5Below, and Michael's---then to McDonald's for lunch---our birthday girl's choice. We had cupcakes and drink when we got back and I gave her her little gift---it was a small TY stuffed animal--she squealed with such delight when she opened it---kind of breaks one's heart that this child gets so very few things that this would make her so happy. The teacher has been wrapping presents for them and putting them under the tree----this little girl is absolutely fascinated that there are gifts under a tree with her name of them. This kind of thing makes you realize why it is so important to give to organizations like the Salvation Army and Toys for Tots at this time of year.
I did do the pool last night and it did help my knee---plus taking more meds---sigh---I hate taking meds!
The teacher's evaluation would have no repercussions on my job evaluation----it's not my job to prepare lessons, just to help---and I was busy the whole time he was in there plus he knows that I step up to the plate when she is out and do the whole thing,

Cathy, I replied to your post and a few others this morning and then added a Christmas tree emoticon at the end. I got the "no HTML" warning and my post disappeared, boo! My first cherub was entering at that moment so I had to give up. I did not get the firefighter Santa out yesterday morning but he and most of his Santa friends are out now. some are where they are supposed to be and others are waiting in the ranks. No, DH's Christmas party is on the very last day of school. He isn't too thrilled with me right now because I am trying to get him to write out his cards for the teachers and give them their gift bag of raspberry jam this Friday or Monday so he doesn't have to worry about it after surgery.

Terri, how did the surgery go? The other first grade teacher's husband is in a similar situation. He has leukemia and will undergo surgery next Friday. He has a 70 % chance of not making it through. He has two children, one in high school and the other in college. His name is Dan
and his wife is Julie.

I have a load of laundry to switch, one to fold and a list of things to do to organize. I went over it with DH before he went to bed and we decided that we would do the shopping for the birthday dinner and get the tree while the English Circle was out for lunch. Cleaning the fridge was another item we needed to tackle and DH said he would do it on Saturday morning. I said we wouldn't do that with a guest here so he said we would do it while they were out for lunch. emoticon I pointed out we already had committed to other things at that time so he reluctantly agreed to do it tomorrow night. I will have to be the "bad guy" and make sure it happens.

I am thinking about all of you and looking forward to a slower time where I can be a better communicator. Dianne, I know you don't live in Jersey City but I worried about you when I heard the horrible news.

Oh, I just thought of this. A large bubble wrap flat package came via UPS tonight and it was really flat. I told DH there was nothing in there but he told me to open it to be sure. I said that ruins our proof but I opened it and sure enough, it was empty! Have any of you ever had that happen? it took me forever to get to customer service online and even then, I chatted with a robot and was promised that another would be sent out.

Pretend there's a nice row of Christmas emoticons here, I am not risking losing this again!

On my phone and in the sewing room. My friend went in to surgery a couple of hours ago and they were warned that the doctors don't think his heart will take it. My sweet friend (M) is sitting and waiting for, yet dreading news. I offered to go over there and sit with her, but ahe said to wait. Her sons flew in from out of state, so they're with her, as is her dd. She said she'd call me later.

Meanwhile. I've assembled 4 sets of pjs for the younger ones. They are awaiting elastic and buttons, but I did it that way intentionally--like an assembly line--and now will do the finishing details all at once. I also just found out that gd K may join us this year with her two little ones, so that will be two more gowns to make.

Good morning Friends, still had computer issues this morning, no WIFI connection but I was able to google on my phone and get some direction that seems to work now ... hopefully this was a permenant fix but it is not the end of the world lol

Cathy, what happens if the review was poor, does that affect you or just the teacher ? I dont' like going out in dark and rain either these days so understand your staying home. Hope today was a good day for you ...

Dianne, good of you to fix Bob's phone, no doubt it was something he did. Good you are keeping an eye on him as well, some of those places are not as trustworthy as they should be.

Betsy, Terri, Anne, hope you are all having a good day or as good as it can be.

Will keep this short and will be back later.

Morning! Cathy--I am sure Bob had done something to the phone but he had no idea. He is in the right place--he needs watching over although he STILL bemoans the loss of his car/driver's license. He would be scary driving!

We have snow--the pretty kind that sits on the branches. I got to the gym and had a pool class of 3 people. Got my hair cut and hubby mailed off the package to my folks. So that is all done. I was supposed to start cards last night but that didn't happen. Maybe tonight? We'll see--I am going to the family party at the home later and then to church for the pageant practice. Tomorrow hubby IS going to work so I will get the rest of the gifts wrapped--then find the dining room table and kitchen counter. And get to the grocery store.

Hope everyone is doing okay!

Betsy, hope you got everything done yesterday morning. Is he doing his Christmas party with the kids early? I know my teacher plans to leave early on the last day as one of her kids has a Christmas program that she wants to attend---that one I understand.
Anne, wow, you got a lot done! Hope the rest of the day went as smoothly. Shouldn't that work with the stuff for the rectory be done by the secretary, not you? What does she actually do? I am thinking she is full time while you are part time but I could be mistaken.
LIndie, glad your wifi connection got fixed. I have stepped on my cats before---so has Dh---they learn to get out of the way---LOL
Dianne, nice of you to fix his phone for him. Did he do something to it to mess it up?
I ended up not going last night---it was pretty wet and the temps were going to continue to drop and I just did not want to drive in the rain---I am okay driving at night but when it rains, ti gets rather difficult and parking at this person's house was going to be a pain---this was one time I wish we were having it at a restaurant with good parking and well lit parking lot where you can see puddles.
The teacher finally got observed yesterday---not a good time either--but it was a lesson---we were counting their Eagle bucks and putting them in piles of 5 to staple together----Christmas Shop is next week---they had to put their names on them and organize, then we did practice counting by 5s with each of them. This way they did math that was useful for them and we made sure each child had the same amount for next week;s sale.
We are supposed to go out on a field trip today---not sure what the weather will be like or if we will go.

Evening! I am tired--hubby stayed up to watch the Giants/Eagles game last night and it was after midnight when he came to bed--so I didn't really fall sleep till then--and up early for the Y class. (Weights--not pool--tomorrow will be pool.) So I am dragging now.

Anne--prayers for your brother and you with worrying! I hope you do have enough time to really enjoy the season! I have started wrapping gifts--have one box to go to my parents' with the last of the gifts for WI. Are you shipping gifts right to GA?

Betsy--I have done so many orders--but I don't think I messed any up (at least not so far). I hope your boots go correctly! Sorry to hear that it will be Jan before things go back to "normal" but that is doable. Glad your "extra daughter" will enjoy her birthday with you! That is very nice of you. I hope your hubby's eye surgery goes as smoothly as my hubby's did. I wrote the Christmas letter and had forgotten all about his cataract surgery! So he added it.

Lindie--Glad your doctor made sure you got your questions answered. My hubby is glad he had both the first surgery and then the cataract cause he can see pretty well now. Poor Amigo--I know it hurts to be stepped on but you didn't do it on purpose.

Cathy--so the teacher actually realized that she is supposed to be at work? LOL I hope you enjoyed Red Hats tonight--pot luck sounds fun. I did the weights today but back to the pool tomorrow--and I get a haircut.

Terri--we still don't have our tree up. I do intend to get it set up and decorated but hasn't happened yet. We also want to get some lights up outside--before the kids get home. I got some gifts wrapped--slowly getting things done.

I did see Bob Monday and today. Found out yesterday his phone wasn't working--I took another phone to try but turns out he uses Straight Talk--sort of a cell phone set up but with his "land line" look. I now understand it and can set it up! He hadn't been able to call his daughter for a week--and she hadn't been able to call him. So now it works. I took him the program from DD2's concert--and he was remarking on things 2-3 times in the same half hour--he is forgetting more and more. But--he is in a safe place and I keep an eye on him--going to the Friends and Family dinner with him tomorrow--then have to leave to be at church for the Nights Before Christmas. His daughter will be here 12/26 so I'll pop over on the 25th with the books I got him at the book sale--all large print.

Hope everyone has a good evening!

Hi all!
Betsy, you are definitely running the hamster's wheel! Hope you the order goes to where it needs to and that you are able to get the rest of your orders taken care of. Hang in there!

Cathy, I am surprised that the teacher actually cares about how much sick time she still has or doesn't have! Have fun with the Red Hats!

I have already done the rest of last night's paperwork, today's paperwork, all the data entry since last Thursday and revised my boss' letter of recommendation for one of the gas pumpers. Also I fixed Fr. B's funeral readings binder and printed out an additional copy of all the readings. I would have put them into the binder, but I need those plastic page covers. Off to the rectory I go!

Have a good day!

Anne

Good Morning! Cathy, your teacher actually realizes she doesn't have the time to take off? That's a definite improvement! I would have to lock the basement door from the inside and it does not have that capacity. Yes, DH is having surgery the week before break. His last day of the year will be Friday of next week.

It is very cold here, lows are below zero, I am so glad I work in my own house on days like this.

Lindie, my sister had a cornea transplant and did very well with it.

My tea water is boiling and I need to get another gift ordered and possibly find firefighter Santa before the children arrive. Have a great day.

Anne, Hope your brother continues to improve and doesn't need the bypass surgery for quite a while. Hope he follows the doctor's orders. If he enjoys his work with the admiral, he might not want to give it up. Why does he have to travel so much with that job? Sounds like you have been super busy at the rectory and helping the Fathers. Glad you are not expected to go turn the candles on. How come the Father will be moved that soon since he just got assigned that site? Are you expecting more snow after today? They are saying we might get a bit in the morning here after it being 62 already this morning--crazy weather!
Lindie, at least the doctor explained things clearly for you. The transplant would just be the cornea? That is not that bad if it means you could see because if it progresses, not being able to see would make it worth having that done.
Betsy, that sounds like a lot to get done in one night. Don't you have a lock on the basement door? I know we have one although we rarely think to use it. When does your Dh start his Christmas break? Is he having the surgery before that starts?
Starting out warm today and temps will start dropping in the afternoon. Hard to decide what to wear. I have Red Hats tonight---it's a pot luck dinner but I will need to stop to get what I said I would take. Went to the pool last night---was careful not to do exercises that called for using the knees too much---but legs were very sore when I went to bed so I used my muscles. I thought the teacher was going to go home yesterday as she felt bad but she realizes she doesn't have the time to take off.
Have a good Tuesday---watch out for the weather changes.

Just skimmed the posts after spending an hour trying to place an order on Kohls.com before my Kohl's cash expired emoticon Hopefully, the winter boots will go to Kailey in Tulsa dn not come here, time will tell!

Anne, I am so sorry to hear of your brother's troubles and will definitely pray emoticon for his heart, his medical team and his family, that includes you! emoticon

Cathy, our DD1's college roommate will be here for the weekend. It's her birthday on Saturday and she requested to spend it with us way back in September. apparently, her own family didn't do much for her last year and she knows I will. She'll join us for Tuba Christmas on Friday night, have breakfast here, go out for lunch with DD1 and their "English Circle" from college and then have a birthday dinner complete with chocolate cake and followed by a rousing game of dominoes. I may even let her win! emoticon

I don't think we'll be back downstairs until January but due to DH's eye surgery next week, I only have seven days left and I can do it. I did start decorating a bit of the upper region of the first floor so at least it looks more like Christmas in the house.

Lindie, I believe you asked about the beds, I have them all over the house so I haven't had to move any. Cooper's bed is at the bottom of the stairs and the most problematic because I fear one of the two year olds will open the basement door and the 11 month old will fall. I put her as far away as possible, move fast and pray every time I put him down or get him up.

Today was laundry, work, a whiteout, leftover soup, Christmas card writing and the Kohl's order. That doesn't sound like much but it sure filled the time. I wanted to be in bed over an hour ago so I best get there now.

In advance, have a terrific Tuesday!

Betsy

Hi all!
Thanks for the prayers for my brother, and for me! Yes, I guess I do need some because I am worried. They sent him home today and he was told no work for at least 2 weeks! He is retired from the Navy, but is working with his Admiral, who is also retired. There's lots of travelling and stress with the job, so I am thinking he is going to have to retire from that job or have some kind of change!
Mass went well. One of our regulars' sister passed away yesterday, so she wasn't there. It was expected...but still a tough time of year. I stopped over to the rectory to give the information to the secretary. She informed me that the staff Christmas party was postponed due to illnesses. It was supposed to be this Wednesday. They moved it to 1/8. I am really glad because doing this party (it's held at the rectory) is a lot of work during this busy time.

Lindie, I have heard a cat "scream" when I've step on it...not a pretty sound! I hope Amigo will be better about going to the vet. I hope you can find the information you are looking for regarding Fuch's Dystrophy. Yes, if you are using flax seed, it is worth continuing for your heart's health!

Terri, yay to more stair work and Christmas decorating being almost finished. Also, yay to the grands wanting the houses! Maybe they are not gone yet, but at least they have places to go!

Back to work! Have a good night!

Anne

Good afternoon Friends, I have been reading the posts - Anne prayers for your brother and for you so you dont' worry too too much. Hope that snow disipates and before you leave on your holiday to visit family. You certanly are very helpful with Fr B - your hospitality shines through !

Terri, I am glad you had a good service for your friend, dispite the rain, those who cared showed up, you were there ! I like that Psalm - we are wonderfully made in deed, but my favourite Psalm is Pslam 15 - its only 5 verses but it tells me about who can be a guest in Jehovah's tent, something for me to strive for. I am glad the grands came and picked up what they would want - I am sure they have their favourite(s) and your such an involved grandmother, they have been fortunate to have you in their lives. You most likely have taught them values they will live by to guide their lives, even though they may stumble from time to time ... we all stumble. Are you any where near getting your sewing done ?

Dianne sorry about your Badgers loosing, someone has too, eh ? lol I used to donate magazines and books too and anything with my name on I just used a black magic marker to cover it over, or removed the label when I could. Do you donate to the local schools too for arts and crafts ? I was just thinking when I had my ward robe experience, she had me go through fashion magazines to pick out what I would like to wear and what I would not wear - it was an interesting exercise ! How is Bob doing, is he loosing more memory ? Happy to know your daughter was able to help the group with the risers, and glad she was in good shape to help them ! What are your plans today ?

Cathy, back to work for you, no rest yet but I am sure you are waiting for that 2 weeks off with no school so you can relax ! I hope your putting in for teaching pay when you have to teach - did the teacher show up today? How is DH doing with his foot issue ?

Betsy, one day it will all come to completion and you can relax and not have to jump from one drama to the next. Course that will take time to happen. How long will you have to use your own living space as daycare space ? Did you have to bring all the cribs/bed up too ? How is DD2 doing with her new digs, is she adjusting, or is she wishing she never rented ? Are you getting anxious for the next eye surgery ?

I had my eye examination with the specilist today. It went very well and I learnt something I did not know about Fuch's Dystrophy. It is hereditary but its an "odd" hereditary aging process - so it does not skip a generation, it just shows up. I have no idea who may have had it in my family. I did forget to ask if it was related to diabetes since that does run in the family too on my dad's side. I 'll have to research that one. BUT I did find out that fish oils like 369 or flax seed has no baring on if a condition holds it's own or worsens. She said there were no studies to suport but since flax seed is good for the heart condition, I will continue with it. As far as the cateract surgery, it's a 50/50 chance that I would also need transplant depending on the body's reaction to the cateract surgery. She did say that some do one then if needed the other and some people do both at the same time. I did tell her I needed time to think about a procedure that may require further surgery and transplant - she said that was ok as it was not urgent and if I am ok with my eye sight the way it is, I dont' necesarily need the surgery. It's not a must have. That for me is a relief but knowing that it could result in transplant, I have to consider that. So now that's two medical issues delt with and out of the way.

Have you ever stepped on a cat's paw and heard a curdling scream from them ? It happened to me yesterday when I went to pick up Amigo's bowl to clean it, I stepped back right onto him, boy was he not happy with me and he ran and hid under the couch! I coaxed him out with treats. This morning he managed to get my door open, hop on the bed and pur but because I have a single bed, he couldnot get to my face area to paw - not with those claws LOL Yes they need to be trimmed, in time I will get Gene to take him, right now Gene won't because he says every time he takes a cat to the vet, it dies.... well only one really ....

He's adjusting to his new schedule and my sister is adjusting to her's as well.

I need to go do my exercises - I am still not regular or faithful with them, I need to get with it ! Have a good one and Mare if you happen to be reading along, hope all is well.

Anne, I will pray for your brother while I sew today. Being upstairs by myself gives me lots of opportunity for prayer and meditation. I also love listening to podcasts from my favorite pastors and was really blessed by one in particular yesterday. It was on Psalm 139 and the verse about "...all the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be..." was such a comforting thing to think on in light of all the deaths and serious illnesses around us lately.

Mary and Joseph finally came and picked out the ceramic houses they wanted, so now my table is half empty. Gd Ali says she'd like to have some, but she still lives at home and their house is too small to store them, so I may keep them here in a bin with her name on it. It's a good thing I didn't sell them after all. I didn't realize how much the kids loved them. I have a set of really small ones that fit in my kitchen window that I'll keep for Clara, the youngest gd. She loves tiny things. Gd Shelby can have the country cottage set that was my first one and doesn't match with the Victorian set and that should take care of all of them. Then, when I finally get settled wherever we end up, I can decorate (or not) as space allows.

***I got pulled away to help pack up Ali's houses and finish putting out my nutcrackers and miscellaneous doodads, and now Steve is taking the empty bins & boxes back downstairs. Woo hoo! The only thing left is the outside lights and he is trying to finish the steps first, so he can light them up, too.

Hi again!
Prayers would be appreciated. I got a call yesterday that my brother had a heart attack Saturday and had 2 stents put in yesterday morning. He now has 8 stents. They are hoping the stents will work and that he won't need a bypass. However, the doctors feel that if a bypass is necessary, my brother is healthy so it should go fine.

It has been very hectic here! Last Sunday-Tuesday we had snow, then rain, then back to snow. I think I may have mentioned that I expected to have to shovel Monday, but it was done when I got to the church. Tuesday I helped shovel for a short time at the rectory, but then while waiting for the snow to stop, I got involved in another project...putting the candles in the window with the new suction holders for the candles...I believe they (the suction holders) are working fine. All the candles worked when I put them in the window, but Fr. J wasn't going to turn them on until today...so we will see how that goes tomorrow, lol!

Wednesday I hustled around the rectory to get other things taken care of so that I didn't have Thursday things to do.

I took Thursday off and assisted packing and bringing Fr. B's stuff from Plymouth to Hudson. I left my house about 10:45 and got home about 9:15. My heart broke when I went to the new rectory where he will be staying...it was so stinking hot and his windows couldn't stay open. I suggested using a book that was left on the shelf, but he didn't want to wreck the book. The priest that he is going to be staying with wasn't there, so the bedroom windows were closed. We were able to open the bathroom window with the hopes that the colder outside air would filter into the bedroom. The house itself is old (the windows were not) and pretty neat. However, there are 19 stairs to get up to the 2nd floor. We did not bring all the things in on Thursday night...left boxes of books (boy does that guy love his books!) and some other non-essentials in his car.

Friday I did laundry for both priests, cleaned their bathrooms, stripped their beds, and left about 45 minutes late! Oh yeah, I also went grocery shopping instead of going to Mass.

Saturday I helped provide the beverages and food for the last of this year's ChristLife's retreat day. Yay! At the same time I was running over to the rectory during the retreat to assist with the moving of some of Fr. B's things. I am going to suggest that the non-fabric items get moved from the 3rd floor to the basement at some point after Christmas. Preferably with Rich and Army helping to organize it down there and not teen helpers. We'll see. Fr. B does not have a ton of space at the new rectory, so he is leaving things here, since he is expecting to be moved again late Spring. Saturday was a long, long day!

Sunday J and I went to Lowes, Home Depot, and 2 grocery stores. Once home, it was low-key...except for J's yelling over football plays. I was not in the room with him...I just don't care about the games. Instead I read, played Solitaire, made up the prayer schedule for the week that I put in the Prayers of the Faithful book, and then watched one of the episodes of the old TV version of Star Trek. J came to bed after the football games ended and I gave up the TV to him, rolled over and went to sleep.

Now to get ready for Mass. I need to decide if I want to cancel tomorrow's eye doctor appointment since I have a lot to do to be more prepared for Christmas at the rectory. If I didn't have so much to do today I would have gone to work after Mass. Alas...it's time to get moving!

Have a great Monday!

Anne

Hi all!
I had a post done up yesterday, but was interrupted and I guess I didn't hit "post message" and just closed up the computer. Grrrr! I'll try to re-do and update, too!

Cathy, it is nice that you take the kids on field trips, even shopping ones, since it sounds like the kids don't get that experience with their parents. Nutcracker and special need children, not necessarily the best of mixes. Yay to getting your houses on a timer and your Nativity up! Hope today doesn't require too much energy and that the headache does not return.

Betsy, lots of chaos going on! I think visiting with Cindy as much as possible is a good idea, especially if you continue as the months go by. I know when my Dad passed, my Mom had lots of visitors for the first couple of months, then slowly but surely they ended. Glad the work is moving along downstairs, but hope it can be finished soon. If the funds are available...do the floor while there is less on it! Roommates can be tough to deal with. I hope K is able to figure out how to handle hers. It is not fair that she doesn't have her own space in the common areas!
Your friend was rude to play on her phone! Talking requires body language and eye contact! You should have said something extreme to even see if she was really listening! LOL! Hope no one else gets that herpangina! Stay healthy!

Terri, how annoying that the skylight leaked. Was Steve able to fix it in the rain or does he have to wait til it all dries out. Yay that he is moving along with the stairs! Sounds like you are doing well with your sewing, despite the dining table being filled with houses. Maybe you should pack those houses back up and give them to Jenny to dole out! Glad you had the sad time before the happy time the other day. It would have been tougher the other way around! Clutter makes me feel claustrophobic, too! Good luck with finishing up your sewing!

Dianne, glad you were able to see Bob while being on a tight schedule! Yes, we still have lots of snow. And yes, we are expecting high temps, probably upper 50's, and rain...so we may only end up with snow mounds from plowing left later in the week. How was DD2's concert? Glad DD2 was available to help move the risers! I'm sure it would have taken the group longer if she wasn't. Young muscles and agility sure are nice to have around! I know I have had a lot of Kohl's cash expire since I opened my Kohl's card. I just don't shop enough! Did your Mom find the electric blanket's cord? That would definitely happen here...purchase new and what was missing is found, lol!

Lindie, I hope Gene adjusts well to the change in his schedule! Changes, especially as we get older, can be hard to swallow...but he did offer, lol! My boss would talk about her cats waking them and disturbing their sleep at night. She would often give in and feed them. Then they became fussier and fussier about what foods they would eat. I never realized how many flavors of cat food there are! Hope Gene follows the cat feeding suggestion like he did the removal of the program! See...Mom does know!

Posting so I don't lose this one! LOL!

Dianne, hope you enjoy lunch out and find some good books at the sale. Is Bob still reading with his memory loss?
Terri, that is sad that not many came but having it all outside at this time of year was not the best plan. Hope you enjoyed the party afterwards. Hope the pjs go quickly for you and that your assembly line work goes smoothly. Looking forward to seeing the step progress. Guess Steve got tired of a bare tree---LOL
Betsy, I love my tile floor in my bathroom--I got the ones that look like a wood floor. Definitely cool on the feet but that is what the bath mats are for and I like the coolness in the summer. Who is coming next weekend? Hope you get that bathroom finished soon.
I ended up just chilling yesterday---came home with a headache so took some meds and fell asleep for a couple of hours---which then messed with my sleep last night---oh, well.
Have a good Monday.

Hi ! Life is still chaotic but I am popping on so you know I am alive. Cathy, it wasn't a matter of relatives vs friends for breakfast, it was my relatives vs DH's. DH's live in OK and we rarely see them but even though we saw mine last weekend, it was brief...and we don't see them very often either. Oh well, what's done is done. My sister gave me a shredder for Christmas and I have been getting rid of tons of paper clutter with it today. It will be so much nicer to decorate once the paper piles are gone. DH s outside decorating and having all kinds of trouble with the lights, sigh. We were going to get our tree today but it doesn't look like that is going to happen, sigh. We are at least going to look at the place to note their hours when we drive over to see Cindy with some soup. We haven't seen her since Tim died but we want to make a point to see her more often now.

Hello Terri, Lindie, Anne and Dianne. It may be January by the time I catch up but it will happen! Actually, DH's next surgery is Dec 17 and I took off that day and the next so maybe if all goes well, I will catch up then. We have another house guest this weekend for the entire weekend. We must be great hosts because people still want to stay here even though we inform them there's a shower but no sink in their living quarters. Oh yes, the vanity was in stock but I didn't want to put a hold on it because I didn't know when we would be ready for it. The next step is painting and deciding if we want to replace the floor or not.

Yes, busy for sure. Tis the season! But then, I think most of my seasons are busy with some thing or another.

The service was held graveside in pouring rain and was not well attended as you might expect. Still, her family and close neighbors, including my 3 older kids were there. Afterward, we went up the street to the church for fellowship. As always, it was good to celebrate her and visit with people we haven't seen in a while. Then, we had Steve's company Christmas party to attend in the evening. So we went from a somber occasion to a festive one within a few hours.

When I went downstairs yesterday after being in the sewing room, I was surprised to see that Steve had finished stringing the last of the lights and had decorated the tree! There are a few more to put on, IMO, as he's skimpy with the balls, but the bins should he able to go back to the basement this morning.

I now have 5 flannel shirts hanging and ready to wrap, as well as some small stocking stuffers left from the boutique. Today, pjs will be cut out and assembly started--Lord willing, because I know things can change in a flash.

The skies have cleared here and we're supposed to have a couple of days of dry weather, so Steve is working on the front steps. I need to get a new picture and post it. He has struggled with this project, but I love the way it looks, so far.

Morning! I was sad to see my Badgers lose last night--at least they were handling Ohio State for the first half. Oh, well--it is important while the game is being played! Then not so much!

Cathy--I can see why the school needs to take the kids, now that you explain it. Sad that they don't get the opportunity otherwise. Do you do a class on foods and nutrition? That could be a great thing to focus on, too. We will have warmer till Tuesday night, I think--I don't know when we will get the outside lights up. Should have done it before Thanksgiving but I didn't want it up so early. Oh, well.

I did manage to get a lot of piles out of the living room--lots of magazines are going somewhere! I just have to cut off name/address so that will be tomorrow's task. Hate to do it but I will take to my girlfriend and she'll deliver when the library finishes this sale. I will be going to the book sale tomorrow and joining her for lunch somewhere!

Quiet group--I am guess that people are BUSY! Hugs to all!

Betsy, it's a shame that you couldn't go to that breakfast with friends because of your guests. Have you ordered the vanity and just waiting for it? I think I would have gone with one in stock unless you have to have a particular one due to daycare. Hope you find some time to get a few of your decorations up high. I have noticed that the price of trees is really high nowadays. I am glad I go with artificial and can enjoy mine longer.
Terri, sorry no sewing on Friday. How did the service go?
Dianne, why were you so slow in getting up? Or were you just sleeping in for a change? We get the warmer temps and lots of rain starting on Monday here. Then temps will drop big time. Most of our kids are very low income so they don't get a lot of opportunities to go anywhere and that includes shopping. I know that 2 of them have no transportation and have to rely on others for errands. We do plan on taking them to some museums when it gets nicer weather. They have just opened a new Harriet Tubman museum about an hour plus away that we might go to in the New Year.
I pretty much got the decorating done yesterday---the tree is done and the dining room hutch is done. I do need to wipe down the dining room table, put the stuff on there in a bin to send down to the basement, and put the runner on there. I will try to bake at least one kind of cookie this afternoon.

Hi! I got up (slowly) and made it to the step class. The teacher is in her 70s and I cannot keep up with her! So it is a great class--hit my 7K steps by 10 AM. Doing laundry, baked a turkey breast for dinner and leftovers, did planning for the next 2 weeks--pretty good day. Plan to watch the football game at 7--WI vs Ohio State.

Terri--I hope today brings comfort to everyone involved. And tell the grands they have to either come or call you to tell you what one house they want--by tomorrow! I am selling lots of little stuff--pretty much anything brand new is getting listed on a FB group and sold. Maybe $15, maybe $5 but better than just donating it!

Betsy--guess you aren't done if you haven't picked a vanity yet. Good luck getting everything done. You were very nice to offer a place to stay--guess you need to put in a time to RSVP BY! Well--for free, they shouldn't complain.

Lindie--yes, cats don't follow any schedule but their own! Hope you have a good day.

Cathy--I have seen the Nutcracker a couple of times and I don't blame you for leaving. I don't enjoy it. Glad you were able to teach them a few necessary things--cannot imagine parents being SO lazy--but then I never had this type of special needs kid. Hope you get your decorating done. We haven't even gotten the tree upstairs yet.

Anne--are you going to get the 60s on Tuesday--with the rain?

Tomorrow we go to hear DD2's concert. She had final rehearsal last night--she helped to put the risers up--and store the ones they aren't using. This church cleared out a space for them to use--they want to continue this association and the other place they'd used to store the risers said 'no more" so it was a lot of work to move them. DD2 is one of the younger members so needed to help.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Baking done yesterday, but no sewing.

The mess is making me feel claustrophobic and still no grands to thin out these houses.

The rain is here and now there's a leak in the kitchen skylight. Steve thought he had it fixed, but apparently not.

I've got 3 hours before I have to go down to the church to help. No word yet on my other friend.

I am still on that hamster wheel Anne mentioned. We invited my BIL and sister to stay with us overnight again on their way home from the Mayo Clinic yesterday and they didn't say yes until the middle of yesterday afternoon! They said they would be here in two hours so I scrambled to tidy the first floor and get soup into the slow cooker. This is one time we were happy that our slow cooker works too fast. Our nephew from DH's side just returned from deployment so his parents and sister will be in town this morning and we were invited to meet them for breakfast at a local restaurant but our guests aren't leaving until eleven this morning. We could take them but
my sister still moves pretty slowly and I don't think they would be ready by 9 AM. Why are social calendars either empty or conflicting with tough choices? If our nephew would be there, we would definitely go but he is already at home in the arms of his fiancee in Green Bay. There was supposed to be a party for him in Green Bay today but since there is a Packer game tomorrow and his parents fly on standby, they needed to get out today.

Cathy, it is too bad the at The Nutcracker wasn't enjoyed but I can see how it would be a tough concept for your students. Was the dancing good? We hope to get our tree today but just keep it outside until next weekend. There's also an open house at a gallery I want to go to, a WWII presentation from a Pearl Harbor Veteran and cleaning/decorating higher areas the children can't reach. Lowe's is on the agenda for ordering the vanity and hopefully, Mass so I can sleep in tomorrow. Our guests have come upstairs so I need to go figure out what to give them for breakfast.

I will catch up someday! Have a super Saturday.

Terri, hope they come get the ones they want so that you can take any leftover down to the consignment store. Hope today is not too hard on you. Sad about the other man but sounds like they have created their own problems. So sad that that happens.
Dianne, sounds like a busy weekend. Of course you will buy books, then donate them back---LOL
Lindie, glad Gene listened to you. He shouldn't have to do those courses at home, they should be on company time if required---geez!
It is funny but the one student that has real lifeskills is our hispanic student---those parents have him do chores and take him places. Our girl's mother seems to not leave her place --she won't even come to the IEP meetings---and isn't even teaching her dd how to clean herself properly. We had a good experience teaching them to cross a busy street with a crossing light to use--very important skill to teach them. We were all so bored with the Nutcracker that we left at intermission and walked to where we were having lunch to wake us up. It was all music and dancing and no words and my kids just don't get the story line on something like that. I was having a rough time staying awake, too.
Decorating is on the agenda---maybe some baking---we will see how it goes with the tree on whether I want to bake or not.

Good afternoon friends, a slow, rainy, but dry later day today - still very grey out too - I did get to safeway for a walk and pick up a couple of items that I will use the next couple of days. Funny having Gene at work today as its normally his day off along with Saturday - we will both adjust and I will just keep doing what I do ... Gene does do online courses for work - but he could not get his desk top to connect to the course or wifi so I suggested removing one program he had on there, and it was the culprit - he's able to do his courses now, he also get Ebooks and reads them at times, or rather listens ... we both have computers in our own room rather then the livingroom - that seems to be the cat's room now lol

Cathy, the cat is best when fed at 10 pm or close to that otherwise he wants food in 5 hours or so - since it is canned food, it can't be left out too long so he only gets enough to eat up - although at times he will leave some - does DH sleep in the livingroom a lot where the cats are ? Cats sleep 16 hours a day but the 8 hours are not always a consistant block of 8 hours - hense they cat-nap ! Something I can't do lol How was the Nutcracker, I am not sure I would enjoy that never mind the kids, these days I have a very short attention span LOL -

Dianne, my cousins in England have 3 siamese cats and they have several trees up on their property - they say the cats are not interested, thinking their trees are artificial - not sure what can be done to keep cats out of live trees. I remember an incident once time when my brother came to visit - turned out he had a bag of weed under the tree that the cat thought was catnip and ate it !!! I had no idea it was weed ! One expensive catnip lol my brother was really mad - but too bad he should have known better to bring that in the house .... sounds like you had a great day !

Terri, I am hoping tomorrow goes well for you, or as well as it could go, dispite the rain, I know you will be as supportive as you can It's unfortunate about your other friends too, who are ill - and money never buys love, some never learn that lesson - I know when I was working I helped the kids out as they needed but when I stopped, so did that - course they all make more money then me these days. I hope the grands come get their own keepsake, perhaps this is the wakeup call they need that things are changing ...

Anne, Betsy, hope all is going well for you both.

Time to get some exercise done, talk to you all later !

Hello! I have spent my Kohls cash -- hate to let it expire! visited Bob--sat with him at lunch. I did 2 short step aerobics sessions--that felt good. And babysat my Molly--she made her Mom a tray with the saying " a good day starts with coffee and ends with wine". She did it all by herself except I drew the cup and the wineglass. It was done by a 3rd grader--and does look like it! She also have the parts to make her Dad's gift--needs a photograph for that. So I did my grandmotherly duty.

Terri--yes, of course they would like one as a keepsake! They will treasure them over the years. Sorry about the cutting and baking. And tomorrow will be hard for you--I am sorry about your loss. And the coming loss--some people don't realize that they need to let the kids grow up. My parents have let us make our own choices and I hope I do that for my girls. I am missing the cookie exchange this year--so won't be baking!

Cathy--do the parents leave the kids at home when they go to a store? I see what you can teach them but wonder why the SCHOOL has to do that! I did take my GS and made them order their own stuff at McD--just to make them speak up and handle the $$. I made my kids always do that--but others hadn't so GS did. But I wouldn't expect school to do that. But then, I see my home school doing LOTS of trips that I wonder about! LOL

Betsy--hope your basement is coming along quickly! How does DD2 feel about her apartment? Is she regretting it or just moving slowly? Maybe her big sister will have some ideas. (Sisters are often smarter than Mom, I have been told.)

Anne--is your snow melting? Ours is about gone!

Lindie--still just rain?

Tomorrow is exercise, chores and then the Badger football team plays Ohio State. Sunday--choir, church and then drive to DD2's concert at 4--its about a 2 hour drive. We'll enjoy the concert and then go to dinner with her. A friend is coming along so it will be different this time! Monday is the book sale--I don't need any but will look for Bob and my mom. (And I will get more, I guess cause I always do!)

Have a great weekend!

Good morning! I'm up and dealing with more mess. I had Steve bring up the bins with all my ceramic houses yesterday and I took them all out to check them and clean them off. There were a couple of broken pieces that needed gluing, so that was done but it made it too late to take them down to the consignment shop. Then I made the mistake of texting Jenny to ask if she'd like a few for the mantle in her new house. Well...she was adamant that the girls were going to want at least some of them because they are so attached to my tradition.

So now I have 20+ houses on my dining room table, waiting for some grands to come and take their pick. I was going to cut pjs on that table yesterday and today while I baked cookies and watched Christmas movies. So now I'll move that project back upstairs where there's no TV and keep the houses for a bit longer. Those kids had better get over here and pick what they want before the weekend is over or I'm getting rid of them! Well, maybe not--I'm just talking tough. Still...for pity's sake--help me out here! I'm trying to downsize!

Time to make up some cookie dough and get that mess made and cleaned up. I can bake a few batches at a time. Tomorrow is our neighbor's service and will be a full day--and it's supposed to rain all day. I also heard this morning that our other friend in Redding has been told that he won't survive the surgery he needs to save his leg because of his heart. So it appears that he's there to die and his wife is not well, either. She's had a couple of strokes and her mind is not stable and their kids are NOT helpful. I am worried about her because the two of them have taken care of their dysfunctional kids and grandkids and given them money for years and years and none of them are responsible enough to look after her now. They will bleed her dry and she'll let them and there isn't anything anyone can do about it. Prayer for M & B are much needed.

I sure appreciate you all~ I'm off to tackle my list for the day. emoticon

Betsy, oh my to that contagious disease and hope it didn't spread to the others. Do they have to stay at home until a doctor says it has passed? Is it contagious until all lesions are gone and how to you tell? She must be miserable but she had to pick it up from someone---wonder who? Can someone be a carrier and not have the symptoms like they can with strep? You might as well see if your dd2 can get out of that lease---it wasn't a good mix obviously and wlll hurt their friendship either way you do it. But a shame for your dd to waste her money that way.
Terri, you sound busy. Sorry about the other friend. It often seems like a lot of people do pass around the holiday season which is so sad---sad anytime but harder at this time of year with all the family activities. Hope you got those nighties finished.
Lindie, even a routine doesn't always work with a cat----Howard complains about the cats at night but if he slept on the bed he wouldn't hear them----honestly I don't know how he hears them then since he often doesn't hear other things----LOL We had to put a child proof lock thing on our trash can cabinet door--which is often Cathy proof, too. Well, if we don't buy anything the kids don't learn how to use the credit card machine or see how to handle transactions, but she does go a bit overboard but it is Christmas time. I don't have that many to buy for either but I did finish up my shopping for the kids and found a pair of Llama gloves for Reagann.
Dianne, glad you found enough to keep you busy. Any plans for the weekend?
I did get the Nativity up last night and the corner shelf decorated for Christmas. So now there are 2 bins to go down to the basement. Also went and paid bills before they were late---LOL But I was asleep shortly after 7 on the couch since I did not sleep well the night before and was up at 4:30 yesterday morning----feel much more rested today after 9hours sleep.
We take the kids to the Nutcracker local performance today---today is the time they do it for local school kids to attend. Not sure if we will have 2 or 3 kids with us today---know that Dalton won't be as he has an MRI up in Baltimore this morning---they will have to sedate him majorly to get him to stay still for longer than 2 minutes---if even then. He seems to be in perpetual motion of some kind in the classroom.
Not sure if I will bake some cookies this weekend but that is my plan---but I do need to clean off the dining room table which is mainly decorations that I need to figure out where they will go---LOL

Hi, all! I guess I did get some work done today and didn't get on this AM! Quiet here--practice grand, exercising, church last night and choir tonight. I am tired--may need to start taking vitamins again....

Betsy--I hope no one else gets the virus. And I don't envy DD2--conflict isn't fun and it will be some conflict.

Lindie--had to laugh about the cat. I was talking to DD1 and her cats ate the new cat grass, left a green pile of vomit and have also been chewing on the real tree! Hope Gene gets himself a hobby!

Terri--congrats on getting so much sewing done. And good luck getting the rest of the folks to understand the water system after you leave--won't be your issue but I'm sure you'll worry. Sorry about the friend who is ill.

Cathy--really? She was doing lots of shopping? Good grief!

Anne--hope you are doing okay--you must be busy like me!

Hugs to all--time to go to bed!

Good morning Friends, a gray mild day here, might have rain, might have sun, and I will go out for a walk later.

WOW Betsy, never a dull moment these days, eh? Well you take it all in stride very well. I am not surrpised DD2 stayed, think we all guessed that one - and you do have an open door policy in which any of your kids can come and spend the night so it is only natural for DD2 to stay the night. Now about that room mate and noisy cat - DD2 is just going to have to draw on courage and set house rules with this person, I know she said the other one has a strong personality, but I think she is selfish, which tends to give the impression of a strong personality, especially when no one questions it. That cat may have to go ! Might have to look at the terms of the lease again, is the lease in DD2's name, is she the main tenant on the lease ? Could she live there by herself? Could she find a better roommate? Might you go over and offer some advise ? Can she get out of the lease and move back home ? Lots of avenues to explore ! I am sorry to hear of the latest illness in your daycare and how you might be affected by it.

Terri, I am sorry to hear about your friend in the hospital, I hope you can get a hold of them in due time and offer the support I know you want to give. Good that you are getting the shirts done and getting to the nighties, are the nighties easier to do ? Maybe you could put the Inital of the first name on the inside of the nighty to help tell them appart? sounds like a busy weekend for you !!

Cathy, surprise surprise the teacher showed up, who exactly took the lead in dealing with the kids? Do you use city buses or school buses for these excurtions ? Can't the city bus lower the floor to allow you to get on ? They do here, and I always wait for them to lower, but once in a while I get a lazy bus driver who just sits there, so I make a big deal of reaching for the hand rail and grunt real loud getting up ... sheesh .. LOL How is DH doing with his foot ?

Ok now about noisy cats - mine was up banging on my door at 1:30 am this morning looking for food ! and he pushes the door which then makes a loud noise and of course it woke me up. I chased him away real fast then went back to bed and sure enough just as I am drifting off, he starts again and meowing loud - Gene must have gotten up because it got really quiet and a few hours later I finally got to sleep - Gene started his 5 day shift today but hope he got soem sleep - I warned him feeding the cat spoonfuls here and there would not work - and it did not ... the cat should be fed at 10 pm at night so we can sleep for at least 5 hours. He does not eat dry food, its canned food - half a can 3 x a day is enough but when to feed ... well maybe after last night Gene will relent and go back to my schedule I had him on - it worked pretty good with snacks between ... sigh .. lol

Terri, how did you know it was DD2? emoticon In her defense, the cat is being loud in the middle of the night and so is her roommate, talking to the cat at 3:50 AM! DD2 had an early shift today and wanted to make sure she got a good night's sleep before going in so I couldn't argue with that.

Cathy, yes, we have a lot of drama and it isn't over. More on that later. I am glad your field trip went well but sorry your legs ached.

Another snag has entered our lives and we learned about it in the form of a text yesterday from Mia's mom. Mia was here all day Tuesday ( out with fever Wednesday) and hasn't been drinking her bottles very well. At 11 months, I thought she was simply demonstrating she's ready for a cup but no such luck. She has herpangina, a close relative to hand, foot and mouth disease, yuck! I took a gamble and I am open today but if anyone else gets it, I have to close and sanitize the entire first floor. That's one way to clean before Christmas decorating but I don't recommend it to anyone!
Herpangina is a virus that causes blisters in the throat and sometimes mouth. It is accompanied by a fever and since it is viral, the only thing to do is treat the fever and let the virus run the course. It typically lasts 7-10 days and is most common in three to ten year olds. That said, any age person is susceptible, boo.
Nellie and Michael are playing in kinetic sand and I am being paged one is finished so I must go. Good luck with your sewing, Terri. I am so sorry to hear of the illness of your friend and
hope you are able to get through somehow.

Betsy, that post made me swallow my coffee too quickly as I laughed. You're a good and patient mother, letting her wean herself at her own pace.

I'm in the sewing room, putting the 5th shirt together before cutting out pajamas for the littlest girls. I've chosen the fabric and patterns and they'll all match but be a little different so that the sisters can tell them apart when they come through the laundry. That's the only thing on my list for today, but I may have Steve help me finish putting the last string of lights on the tree so that we can have that done. He won't put the lights on the house yet, as he's still got lumber and building supplies all over the place out there.

Tomorrow I'll bake cookies for the fellowship time after our neighbor's memorial service on Saturday afternoon. Then, Saturday evening is the company Christmas party, so there won't be any sewing done on that day.

I just learned last night that our longtime friend is in the hospital in Redding and isn't expected to recover. I would like to go over there to be with his wife, but it's a 2 hour trip and she's surrounded by a lot of family. I tried to call her last night, but it went to voicemail and the mailbox hadn't been set up, so I couldn't leave a message. I guess I'll try to call again later this morning.

Time to refill my coffee cup. Have a great day! Only 3 weeks left until Steve's birthday and our family Christmas celebration. YIKES!

Betsy, lots of drama in your area. I think I would have gotten up and just walked away from someone playing a game while I was talking to them---How rude! I love playing my games too but not when I am with a friend. I really dislike when they text or take a phone call---unless it is important---I will check my texts but often not respond if it is not important. Joy will take a phone call but usually it is for some group she is in and arranging of plans that will usually involve me, too---LOL Had sad for that pair! Maybe he sat there so he wouldn't have an accident on your furniture. Glad you finally found the cans and that bouillon is not cheap so glad it was found, too.
Dianne, you have been quite busy with the practice grands. What fun! I have been having the kids do lots of crafts the last 2 days and more to come.
Lindie, hope the weather wasn't too bad for your little jaunt. My understanding from talking to teachers in other areas, our problems are happening in many places. Kids have the rights and we have none.
Terri, homeschooling does help with the bullying, etc. but some parents should not homeschool as they just don't have the background to do it and don't put the time into it that should be done. And math and science are hard to do as they get older---but at least they have the basic skills to do them. Our educational system is horrible and we need to go back to basics---too late for the ones already in upper grades now. Hope you got more sewing done. Could the new owners take away the rights of the others to the water if they take over? Better point that out to the others so they get on board to make this a group effort.
We had all the kids yesterday for the field trip. We did a lot of shopping--and I had trouble getting on the bus at one point because of standing too much. I gave the kids a dollar each to spend at the Dollar Tree---3 got candy----LOL---our girl got a toy. We had lunch at Sam's Club and eventually I found the aisle with chairs and we sat for a while while the teacher shopped---so getting back on the bus wasn't as bad that time. I was exhausted last night when I got home.
I did get the last of the figures on display in the village and got the battery little lights where I wanted them---and most of them are on timer control which means I won't have to turn them off and on----yeah!

Terri, we still have good schools here but we also have no problem with anyone who chooses to homeschool. The situation Cathy has would never happen in any of the schools where our family has taught. Heavens, it wouldn't even pass muster at the large day care where I taught years ago! Cooper has been fed a bottle and solids, had a full clothing and diaper change, been snuggled and read to and he is napping again. The others are still asleep so here I am again, who knows how long this will last.

On Small Business Saturday, we didn't do our usual shopping due to the pending weather and company but we did need some things at the dollar store and the grocery store so we headed out early. I thought I would be nice and treat everyone to a Starbucks drink so orders were taken and when our shopping was complete, Starbucks was our final stop. They called my name three times but we needed four drinks so we waited...and waited ...and waited. Finally, I noticed an EMPTY cup on the mobile order shelf with a sticker on it. Sure enough, it had my name and order printed on the label. I asked the barista to explain and she said they were out of my brand of tea. I didn't want a sweet drink and I am not a coffee drinker so I had to go back to the cashier so they would put the money I paid back on my card. When will it appear? In two to three days! It wouldn't have stung so much but we had attempted to purchase a box of teabags that I like at the grocery store and they were out of those too! Good grief! Everyone got their treat and I just dealt with whatever we had in the cupboard at home.

Nellie is crying so off I go! More stories to come...

Cathy, the original water right was in the name of our neighbor, now deceased, and the system serves 8 parcels of land in our neighborhood. The reason I pay it is because the bill comes to our address. Ernie always monitored the system and looked after things, just asking for help when he needed it. Our boys grew up helping maintain the system and they and Steve are the most knowledgeable and capable. As new people have bought parcels from former residents, they haven't been brought into the circle, so to speak. Both Steve and DS1 are the kind of men who just take care of things rather than get on the phone or go door-to-door to form a work party. In the time it would take to gather the help, they could have the job done. So we've created this dependency and it's our own fault. I could have collected from the neighbors for the water right bill, but have been too lazy to do it in the past. All of that has to change and soon. We hope to be moving and DS1 is having back surgery and we don't know what degree of disability or limitations he will have afterward. It's time to get things organized and make all the neighbors pay into an account every month so that there's a pool of funds to draw from if work needs to be done. Actually having rights to the water for our system is a plus for the sale of our house.

It's cold and a little drizzly today. Steve has been doing some research lately on the power plant at the ranch. It will need to be upgraded before long, but we won't be putting any $$ into it before we have our name on the property. He had left a voicemail for a man at a company in WA state that makes and services off-grid power systems like ours and the man called back this morning. He's going to do some calculations for us, but needs to have some specific measurements, so Steve jumped in the truck and ran out to the ranch. GS Ben will help him take the measurements. So, no work being done on the steps this morning. He did work for several hours yesterday and made some good progress.

I have the buttonholes and buttons on three of the flannels and they are ready to wrap. I came downstairs for breakfast, so am taking a few minutes with you. I didn't get to the 4th shirt yesterday, so that's still waiting. I think I'll send that one to my dad. We haven't exchanged gifts in years--just cards--so we'll see. He certainly doesn't need anything.

While I was downstairs, I took the time to pick the bones of the turkey carcass that I'd had simmering on the wood stove. We put the stock pot on the front porch last night to chill, so that I could skim the fat this morning. Then I chopped up some carrots and put the broth back on the stove. I'll add bullion for flavor later and will probably can most of it, but will make some homemade noodles and have some for dinner tonight. It's good weather for soup.

Betsy, K really should say something about the clutter. I'm assuming that there are two bedrooms, so R should keep her junk in her own room so that the living space is tidy. I'd agree with Dianne about putting everything in a big shopping bag for her and setting it inside her bedroom door, but that's probably a little passive-aggressive. Personally, I'd just tell her to keep the common areas free from piles of personal things. My house isn't clutter-free or super clean either, but I don't like people leaving a trail so that I can't even use the counter or table when I want. It is a learning experience, for sure. Miss K is going to have to decide how she wants to live.

Lindie, I hope Gene is able to get enough sleep with his altered shift. I can understand his boredom since you live in an apartment and he doesn't seem to have any hobbies or interests to occupy him other than work. What does he like to do when he isn't working? I suppose the teachers' unions protect the lousy teachers right along with the good ones, but that shouldn't be the case. I like the question, "would you hire them back?" because that would tell it all. As a landlord, we learned that when we checked references, we got a better report if we went back two previous landlords rather than the most recent one, since that one might be wanting to get RID of them and would give a falsely good reference. Some people squawk about home schoolers, but when the only public option is a crappy situation with mediocre teachers and bullies in the halls, you can't blame parents for wanting a better learning environment. The teachers' unions in CA are always griping about Charter schools and homeschools because it "takes money away from public schools" but money isn't the problem. We don't have to look back very far in history to see a FAR better result in education and professionalism with far less money. There is more indoctrination than education going on these days and it's no wonder so many young people think socialism is so wonderful. Okay...time to get off my soapbox and get back to my sewing machine.

Have a great day!

Dianne, if only there were an RA to help with this mess ( pun intended.) Mia has a fever again so she isn't here and the other ones are all asleep! emoticon Cooper is due to eat in two minutes so we'll see what happens. We found Black Friday not to be anything like Black Friday as well, even less crowded than an Early Birds Saturday at Kohl's. It kind of took away the fun but I understand why they changed things to make it easier on the staff and for crowd control.

The next story involves my childhood friend, the one with enough issues that she and her husband had their children removed from the home. After my story, you'll feel so bad for her poor husband and understand why the children were taken. Bill is a very large man ( 400 pound range ) and last summer he had a bilateral stroke. He has had a tough recovery and is still wearing a catheter and bag. He was sitting on our hearth enjoying the warmth of the fire and I heard him he say he had a problem with leaking. Linda didn't hear him and I didn't want to embarrass him so I sent DH in there. ( Linda and I were looking at something in the kitchen-one room over.) Bill declined help from DH so I sent Linda in there. She's hard of hearing so she was oblivious . She looked and said he needed to get to the bathroom. The poor man had to walk hunched over holding the bag shut until he got to our restroom ( fortunately close.) Linda went in there with him and exclaimed, " Oh no, you're wet! You'll have to wear the foley." She went to the car and I assumed she would bring in a clean pair of pants but she didn't. They had stayed in town with a "like mother figure" overnight, the man wears a catheter and they didn't bring a change of clothes! emoticon I figured they would leave right away but she chose to call the house they stayed at and tell the woman, very loudly, what had happened and that they would leave sooner than expected. I expected them to leave but he went back to the fireplace and sat there while she and I chatted on the couch. I wished I had something for him but we just don't have anything that large. I was sitting on one part of our sectional and Linda was on the other. I know she is stressed but she came to see me and didn't really pay attention to what I was saying because she was playing Candy Crush on her phone. I got out my phone and showed her some pictures to try to keep her engaged and lighten the mood. About an hour later they left. Bill had surgery yesterday and will hopefully get the catheter removed on Friday, I sure hope so!

Cooper is crying, have to go feed him. emoticon

Good morning Friends, getting ready to step out to safeway to get cream and mushrooms - it's raining and windy so no umbrella maybe ... we will see !

Dianne, glad you got to visit a bit with Bob, and remember to mark your shoveling as exercise in spark - Not sure how Gene feels about this schedule change - we will have to see - he does get bored with 2 days off, not knowing what to do - I make suggestions, like, CLEAN YOUR ROOM, lol or do your recycling - he would work 7 days a week but realises he's getting older now and needs the two days off ...

Cathy, I am not surprised that they will keep her through her contract, as it is very difficult to fire someone and I am not surprised that people are quitting the teaching field , its just getting too too dangerous not just in your school but others as well - it is almost weekly now there is an issue at schools and part of that is the parents attitude that schools are baby sitters ... also her previous school may not have been able to give a bad report for her, here in Canada, you can't say if someone was a good or bad employee, and the way around that one is, would you hire them back ... well I hope your field trip was a good one - Howard may not like the inserts as they might feel like stepping on pepples to him, he would have to get used to that feeling and eventually it passes ...

Betsy, oh my a true case of Odd Couple in deed ! You may have to go over there and set things straight wiht the other tenant, because your daughter should feel comfortable in her first home away from home. I like the bag idea that Dianne suggested, but I really think that perhaps the room mate just needs some good guidance on being "clean and orderly" in her own invironment - I hope she is cleaning the litter ok and not leaving it ... but that room mate sounds so much like my granddaugher - she is ... messy too .... Hope you had a good day with the babes and remember to clear out the rental from personal items, like shopping bags, emoticon hope everything in the shopping bag was still ok, thinking it was cold enough to keep it all ok, unless it got frozen, then maybe not ok.

Anne, hope your day is going well, are you working on the spread sheets ?

Terri, I know Steve will be very happy to get that job of the stairs done - and good for you to encourage him to keep at it, you can't sell without it anyway and the sooner these projects are done, the sooner you can sell - what about the other house, pretty soon you will have 3 properties to have insurance and what not on !!

Ok best get going to Safeway, have a good one all !

Betsy--same time post! Glad you are doing okay. DD2 is now getting her college dorm experience. I wonder what would happen if "stuff" ended up in a big tote so DD2 could use the table and the couch! At least in college, there is an RA to help mediate the discussion. And I know how the bag can get left in the car--hopefully, all is fine with it! Looking forward to another story!

Morning! I did shovel a bit yesterday--just to make sure the walk and driveway would clear. I had a short visit with Bob--1:25 school pick up is in the middle of everything! Today I head to the grocery store very soon to get it done--coupon items! And I have my 3rd grader again--we are working on gifts for parents. I did get 2 things from my house sold--a dollhouse that DD1 helped her dad put together but then had no interest in and a very nice dartboard that my inlaws had given DH but he doesn't want it--so 2 people got great deals and I got some $$. I expect I will do a lot more selling that way--used FB.

Cathy--why are your kids so bad? I mean, other places have trouble but doesn't sound as bad as your school. Subs here get $100 a day now.

Lindie--does Gene like this schedule? Will this one stay for awhile? I do hope he has enough seniority to have some choice.

Terri--my hubby is like Steve--very few projects need any prodding. Hope he can get it done. Good luck with the sewing.

Anne--we are getting snow right now--hope you aren't too snowed in. I am thinking we are going to get quite the winter.

Heading out soon. The cookie exchange with the pool group is at a time I can't go so no fancy cookies this year. Likely better for me anyway!

Terri, you are absolutely correct, never a dull moment around here! Once again, I only have a few minutes before the first cherub arrives but thought I would answer your questions and tell you a quick story. The siding has been replaced and I haven't even looked but Dh is very happy with the work. They still have to put on the gutter helmets and haul away their mess but the debris is probably frozen to the ground after the wintry mix last week. We have evergreens with limbs weighted down and frozen into the snow! Miss K likes her room but Rachel continues to be very sloppy and it is even driving K crazy. Rachel eats on the couch and we gave K a TV table to use in the kitchen. MY BIL was able to fix our antique ice cream parlor table so they could eat together in the kitchen but Rachel has already covered it with stuff, K was not thrilled. K continues to eat supper here and shower here and we have all adjusted to the new way of things. I have suggested K offer to help clean and that she mention she has NO common space that is "hers" so she ask Rachel to please keep that clear but I don't think she'll do it. Our house isn't super tidy but K sure enjoys how much nicer it looks than her place! It's been a good learning experience and I compare it to a dorm room.
As far as what type of scare it was at C's school, when we hear lockdown, we automatically assume gun violence, how sad is that? There have been other scares that she hasn't thought to alert or unnecessarily scare me, so I was definitely nervous for this one.

Last Thursday I made a pumpkin pie and went to make a second one but I could not find the evaporated milk cans anywhere. I knew we had purchased three, two for need and one extra in case of an accident such as spilling. I couldn't find it, DH couldn't find it and the girls couldn't find it anywhere. DH went to the store to buy more and that was that but it was still bothering me because I KNEW we had bought three and I had recorded three into the national consumer panel base. We packed up our pies in our Longaberger picnic basket (love that thing for pie carrying) and went out to our rental car. DH popped the trunk and there was a small reusable grocery bag with two cans of evaporated milk, a jar of seedless jam and some Beter than Bouillon beef broth! DH said, " Oh, I didn't know we used that bag!" emoticon emoticon

I need to brush my hair and get my shoes on but I will TRY to get back here later, no promises. We have to drop off our rental car tonight. That should have happened last night but that is another story. Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Anne, I think it is neuropathy issue but he has very flat feet and seems to have always had some issue with his feet---his weight doesn't help either. Doctor is talking about an insert and checking with insurance company on how much they will pay if we need one---I told him if he gets it he WILL use it---I have bought him stuff in the past---not cheap---and he never wore them long enough to break them in----Grrrrrrr Sorry you had to shovel more snow---you should have woke J up to do it for you---he could go back to bed afterwards---LOL
Dianne, Hope you were able to get out and do what you wanted. It does sound pretty---I do like the looks of snow but not the shoveling---and I would have to do it with Dh's back the way it is. I just want enough to give me a delay----LOL
Lindie, the kids are so bad that a lot of teachers are just quitting---and not enough subs to even take the jobs if they would---they are turning down those long term jobs here---so they will keep her until the end of the year. Whether they renew hew contract is up to them---she has her good points but also a lot of poor points---I think the other school system just didn't renew her contract but they won't say anything bad because they worry about law suits. Why did you hide from Gene? Did he want his own space?
Terri, good idea to pay the bills----LOL Glad you and Steve had that talk and that you got him working on it. Why do you all have to pay that water rights? Shouldn't that be a shared expense? That water rights issue could be something that would stop the sale of your house if others are not sharing in the cost and the upkeep. Whoever buys it might not be as talented as your family in keeping it maintained.
Made a wreath at Master Gardeners last night--and got my 3 year pin. Had a nice night.
Today is another field trip---to Dollar Tree and then to Sam's Club for lunch-----hopefully we will have more than one student----LOL

Well Anne, I guess you won't have to worry about what to do for cardio today.
Dianne, did you have to shovel?

I've been upstairs and gotten all the lights on and my iron heating up, but then got called back downstairs for something. So now, I've had something to eat, been online to balance the checkbooks and pay the Mastercard bill, which is what nearly all of our monthly bills go on so that I can earn those Amtrak points for future travel. (We've accumulated several thousand points and could take a pretty nice trip if we had the time and somewhere to go. I'm hoping that the whole family can go somewhere sometime.) I also changed the laundry over, started a new load and folded a dry load. I figured I may as well check my email and doing my Sparking while I was here~ I also just took the time to write a letter to our neighbors about our water system and the need for some share responsibility. We'll need to have a meeting soon and get some things sorted out. Meanwhile, I have to pay the fees for our 2 water rights for the neighborhood before the 5th...sigh...

Cathy, I'm just shaking my head at the situation with your teacher. I can't believe she still has a job and can't figure out how she passed the interview. Your school must be seriously desperate for teachers is all I can say. I can't imagine that she had a good reference unless her previous school just wanted to get rid of her. What's wrong with Howard's foot now?

Betsy, I'm sorry you're having to deal with having your daycare displaced. There's never a dull moment, is there? How are the repairs to the tree damage going? Or should I even ask? Is Miss K settling in to her new apartment living or do you think she has regrets? What kind of scare was it at school? I can imagine how your heart leapt into your throat at the thought of DD1 being in the middle of a lock down!

I never have to nag or push Steve to do any work, so this project on the front steps has been a real challenge for both of us. He doesn't like the project and is concerned with it looking right when he's done and seems to be procrastinating. That has been anxious because I know that something is going to come up and pull him away from it again, so I had a serious talk with him about just getting it DONE and behind him so he can move on to something else. The longer he drags his feet, the more likely it is that something else will come up to demand his attention and we need to be able to be finished with this. It's supposed to rain this weekend, but until then it will be sunny and cold so he's going to see how much he can get done before then. I told him that I want it buttoned up well before Christmas, so we'll see. He's accepted the challenge and has been staying busy on it.

I just tried to print the letter to the neighbors and the computer is telling me that the printer is offline. I don't have time to chase after this right now and am going back upstairs before I get pulled further down into the vortex! Bye~

Good morning Friends, sure hope you all are having a good day and getting a lot accomplished. I am being a slug for now - Gene is home and he is adjusting to his new shcedule which will take him a bit to get used to. Me too ! So staying mostly in my room except to go get food and to excersize lol !!

Dianne, the other post you mentioned a table top, I think it was your coffee table that had residents on it, I had to laugh at that as we have a storage hutch that has the same issue - I clear it and it clutters again ! Between that and dust bunnies and now cat nip the living room needs attention ! Hope you were able to visit with Bob today and that the visit went well.

Terri, you came up for air, good you had a day with your DH its been long over due - hope you enjoyed your time and I see you were knitting too ! Are you now sequestured back into the sewing room ? What is DH doing ?

Betsy, hope your day goes good, what a scare for you !! I often wonder what or how I would react if I learnt one of mine was in that situation - Gene sometimes has to assess volitile situations and then usually calls in the police - but he is such a slim person, no real muscle - which is good cause then he does not act like a wannabe cop ... What deadline do you have for the downstairs ?

Anne, how was work, good thing you are not so far away, could you walk to work ? Not in that snow and possible ice mess though - I still have not taken my boots to get stretched - I should do that tomorrow I just do not want to venture out in the rain .

Cathy, Honestly I am not surprised about that teacher not being there and really, not knowing the plates need renewing ? Unfortunately its very hard to fire people these days - depends on the terms of employment and who would replace them. Do put in for the teacher pay if you were teaching yesterday. I hope that teacher showed up today, most likely just to turn the videos on eh ? Can you go to the pool tonight ? What's up with DH's foot, is it a reoccuring issue ? Wonder if its the shoes he wears ?

Well I am gonna go make an early lunch - a sandwhich but need to wash the lettuce, see you all later eh

Morning! Hubby got up early to go to work so I am up, too. We woke to about 4 inches--roads look okay. Yesterday the roads were still pretty warm so no problems. Today MIGHT be different. And I was 3 minutes late yesterday to get practice grand--she worried that I had forgotten it was early dismissal. I had 1:30 written down and it was 1:25!! anyway--all was okay and I got to the home but didn't see Bob--going there today somehow.

I need to work on tree and "stuff" today--yesterday got away from me. It is very pretty today--the snow is stuck on each branch!

Terri--glad you are making headway and had a good day with Steve. The park where I worked did a boutique sale as well--that was wonderful to shop at and to see things. Sadly, that is no more when we were all fired.

Anne--I hear you! Hope the shoveling isn't too bad.

Cathy--REALLY?? She is looking to be fired--or she should give you her teaching pay. This is ridiculous! I am glad the kids have you. I hope Howard's foot feels better with the wrapping. Found out the cookie exchange is next Monday--and I have plans with my friend for the book sale. So I will miss it this year. We don't need the cookies....

Betsy--I hope the bathroom can be done quickly. What a mess for you! I do wish we lived closer--my DH is thinking about handyman services after he retires--just to have something to do. Jan. 11 sounds a long time away but it is good to set a date and give people time to process.

Lindie--yep, hard to shovel water! But if it is really cold, I'd rather have the snow--cold rain makes me colder! I would like to try Whistler some day--didn't realize they haven't had good snow lately. CA is getting good snow, for sure! And our place is good with snow so far this season.

I need to get my mom's birthday card out--send flowers that should arrive on Thursday. Also sent my dad's gift--a new heated mattress pad. That makes a big difference for them and Mom can't find the controls for the old one. Now she will. Oh, well.

Cathy, do you think the teacher wants to get fired? I wonder if she has some kind of medical issue that she is not letting anyone know about. Sorry about Howard's foot. Does he have neuropathy? If Howard could have gone to the pool would you have mustered up the energy to go? Hope the teacher shows today!

Terri, it sounds like you and Steve had a delightful wind down day! Yay to also getting some knitting in! Are buttonholes difficult? I bet I'd have the button and the buttonholes off so they wouldn't line up properly. Good luck with all you have left to finish up for Christmas gifts!

Betsy, yes, when falling behind it is hard to catch up and then comment...been there, done that too many times! I didn't realize that the work in the basement hadn't started! I hope it goes quickly and smoothly! Nice that you have a date for Tim's memorial, but it seems so far from now.

Woke to about 4 inches of snow. J's shut his alarm off. Last night he said he may take the day off from work. Unfortunately, I have to go to work. Fortunately it is less than a mile to the gas station and about 1/2 a mile from there to the church. Time to get dressed and start shovelling...uggghhhhh!

Have a great day!

Anne

Anne, glad you didn't have to shovel at church but bummer that you didn't know that so that you could have done it at home. Glad you got a chance to clean in that one area so it didn't bug you anymore. You are probably the only one that noticed that---LOL When we moved in there were only one paver wide to our wide front steps. First we did a flower bed next to the house, then bought matching pavers and 2 across was just right ---they are the kind with kind of like brick pattern so not flat on the edges but fit really nice together--then a raised bed on the other side making a true walkway---we also put down paver sand in any crevices----some issues with weeds but easy to take care of---and no mud even when it pours. With no dogs, we can safely put salt down on them, too---and that helps with weed control at the beginning of spring.
Dianne, glad your dd2 got home before the roads got bad. Does she have to travel far to take care of the animals when the weather is bad? Hope you didn't have bad roads to pick up practice grand.
Betsy, at least now you have a date for the service so you can make plans. Guessing you have to be upstairs so that you have a bathroom to use. Hope you have some time to breathe?
Lindie, glad it was rain instead of snow for you. I agree---rain is better than snow---unless you are having flooding issues, then maybe they would want snow.
Terri, sounds like progress---hope you get all the pjs made before the holiday and still have room to enjoy the season. I have often gotten the trees up and let them sit undecorated for a few days because I can enjoy the lights.
Well, guess who didn't come to work yesterday---yep, the teacher! She had to renew her car tags---she "forgot" and got pulled this weekend. She seems to be the worse procrastinator. We did a lesson on jobs---along with the scholastic weekly that talked about jobs in a bakery. Then we did a News to You about community helpers and making sure we thank those who help us during this season.
Got home and found out Dh could not go to the pool again---the foot doctor had taped up his foot to see if it helps relieve the pain there. It was turning very cold outside---cold for me---LOL---and I was tired and I chose not to go to the pool either. I just wanted to chill after a day with the kids.
All I can say is that she better be there today!---LOL

I feel like Betsy and I are on the similar hamster wheels lately. I've finished reading all the posts, but don't have time to comment on all.

The boutique was well-attended and I saw lots of purchases being made. Jenny got an app that allowed her to take bank and credit cards this time, so that made things much more convenient for some folks. I know I sold some pajamas that I've had in my stock for a while, and 4 pairs of children's socks, but am not sure about the rest. We left before the day was done and Jenny handles all the sales and record-keeping. She'll make up the invoices and pay each vendor this week.

Steve and I spent yesterday staying warm and watching Netflix while I knitted another sock to complete a pair. I should've been sewing, but was productive nonetheless. I made up for it today by putting two flannel shirts together. They're ready for buttonholes and buttons now, but I'm thinking that I'll wait and do all the shirts at once. I have one more cut out that I should be able to get together tomorrow, and then will start on the pajamas. I was in the sewing room pretty much all day today.

Steve picked up the gift I wanted to buy for Mary's DH today (I drew his name for Christmas) so my shopping is about done. I don't buy gifts for as many people as you all do. But I guess I do overkill it on the pjs. I'll give my mom and Aunt D something homemade (probably left from the boutique)

My condolences to Tim's family and loved ones, Betsy. I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. The memorial service for our neighbor will be next Saturday. Steve will be a pallbearer and I will help at the reception at the church after the graveside service. It's supposed to rain on Saturday and I'm not looking forward to that.

We did get the tree up yesterday and all the lights on it. No decorations yet, though. We'll get to it little by little, I suppose.

Sorry, there aren’t enough hours in the day, catching up will have to wait. I did skim and will answer the common question. Our friend will come over to begin working on the day care bathroom on Thursday night. Our car will be returned to us tomorrow, they will deliver it! Tim’s day of remembrance is scheduled for January 11 with details pending.

DD1 is fine and it turned out to be a false alarm but she texted her School was on lockdown before eight this morning. It was a long 30 minutes.

Good morning friends, I hope you are all refreshed from your weekend and ready to tackle the work week, or other issues that need tending.

Dianne, you will make a phenominal grandmother when the time is right - I bet those practise grands really enjoy being with you. l hope the singing goes well today, will you see Bob?

Anne, if the goal is to make the house more sellable, then do what is needed, but if it is just for personal comfort, then perhaps hold back, I am sure eventually you will come up with a plan you both can live with. It's raining here, my slogan, you dont' have to shovel rain !!! Hope your work day goes well !

Betsy, its unfortunate about the water issues on the house, any idea when that will be resolved? I am sure you want your family space back. Condolences for Tim's family and you as well, it is good you advised the kids parents that you might need a day off for the service.

Cathy, hope your work day goes well and the teacher shows UP ! Does she really have any days left ? I got tired of buying batteries and especially from the dollar store, as half the time they did not work and they do not do refunds - I have rechargables now but still have to find them from time to time as they get switched out from one item to another, maybe time to buy more lol

Terri, Mare hope all is well with both of you....

It's been a cold week but now temps are going up and it is drizzly - fine by me - any sign of snow was in the valley, not here - but the mountains did get a bit of snow, which they were worried about as they wanted to open for ski season and thought there might not be any snow this year - even Whistler was snowless our winters sure are changing - but one of the reasons I like living here is NO SNOW lol ... Have 2 loads of laundry almost done, last load in dryer. Have a good day all

Hi, all! I have been to the pool class--different teacher but it was okay. It is snowing now--and starting to stick on the roads. Looks pretty but I do have to go out--picking up practice grand and then going to the home to sing. DD2 has a snow day--they had ice last night and many schools canceled then. Hubby's meeting at work was cancelled--guy was to fly down from Canada and couldn't.

Betsy--when might you be back downstairs? You are way ahead of me, thinking about cards! I need to focus....that would help! Glad to see the Pack win decisively--and liked seeing Houston's win as well. Appears it was a good weekend for WI sports all around.

Cathy--I do hope to get my tree up this week. Don't know where to put the Nativity but a table just for it is a good idea. I could also clear off the big coffee table but there is a lot of stuff that "lives" there.

Anne--Your walkway could likely use a bit of work but I wouldn't do what DH has suggested either! That would be $$$$! Hope you can deal for the winter--again. Our late church service was pretty empty yesterday--I guess people were still away. Hope it picks up! The Wed night stuff that I have been charged with may not happen--NO kids are signed up. Can't do a pageant with zero or even 2-3.

Terri--saw what the boutique had but haven't heard how it did--hope it was successful! Is Steve all done now for the winter--barring some other issues? Hope the weather cooperates for his projects.

Lindie--hope you have good weather! Isn't so wonderful on this side of the continent!

Mare--you getting dug out from the snow?

So--off to get dear practice grand! Bye for now!

Betsy, any idea when the downstairs will be finished? Smart thinking about not setting up the tree til the kiddos are back downstairs! Did you get enough things back upstairs before anyone was dropped off? I do hope they will have at least a memorial service for Tim. As difficult as they are, I still find funerals and memorial services provide some closure. Continued prayers!

Cathy, I really dislike trying to respond on my phone or Kindle. I don't mind using them to try and keep up with the posts, though. Glad you didn't get snow...hope it stays North! Bummer that Michael wasn't able to come to bring up more things...hopefully he will soon. That was a hefty price tag at the stores...yes, ink really can take a big chunk out of the wallet! Smart asking the young men for assistance. I do hate how some people park...I try hard center my car in the spaces. Don't forget to call the doctor about your knee!

Dianne, glad your girls made it back to their homes okay. I get so nervous about black ice and other drivers driving like fools! If you really don't feel like doing a tree, why not put a table in its place and set the Nativity there? I have been sort of paying attention to ads and emails and almost all November and now the prices have not been too different! I liked it when Black Friday was on Black Friday and they actually did have a good sale! Prayers for your friend for successful surgery and treatments! Did you get snow?

Terri, how did the boutique do? Are you settling in to get your Christmas sewing done? Are you enjoying having Steve home? Will he be working on his projects, too?

It looks like Valentine's Day should be the upcoming "holiday" around here! The snow was wet and heavy and then turned to rain around 3:00 AM. It is drizzling out, but the forecasters say the temps are going to drop and the snow will be back...possibly 3-5 inches. I sure hope they are wrong! I went to church early to help shovel, but it was already cleared! I was grateful, but at the same time not...I could have stayed home and shovelled some of the shovelling I needed to do, lol! Instead, though, I cleaned under the baby grand piano...it was pretty dusty and has been driving me crazy. Timing was perfect because no one was there and no one should have been coming into the church for at least an hour! Yay! All the dust bunnies on the wood floor in the choir area are gone! Most of the residual snow/slush that was in my driveway and on my back deck is gone. My walkway is partially clear...every year I think "we need to do a decent walkway" and every year we don't! So annoying! It is just a line of single slates that the grass grows around...mud in this stuff! Part of the problem is we disagree about what to do...I think I've complained about this before. I want to run a low deck and he wants a low deck with a roof covering. The roof covering would require our doing our roof over and changing the pitch...tooooo much money! So instead I will just keep thinking, "we need to do a decent walkway" and just shovel the grass and the slates!

I need to go attack my desk...it looks like "52 pickup" there! Have a great day!

Dianne, the little ones are holding us back on putting up a tree. Yes, I still have to conduct day care upstairs, sigh. Oh well, I will appreciate my downstairs even more when it is finished. Speaking of that, I need to haul everything back up here so I can't catch up fully at the moment but I will. That should have been done last night but it was really nice having our house look more like an adult house for a few days and we were too tired to do anything other than watch
TV.

Cathy, you were right, we had time to see JB but we were exhausted and we didn't want to risk driving him on icy roads in blowing snow. We will do another long session to make up for it next time.

Thanks for all your kind words regarding our dear friend, Tim. We still haven't heard if there will be a funeral or when but the day care parents have been notified that I may need a day off this week. I better get moving or I'll regret it. Barring any disasters, I will be back here to catch up tonight before we start writing our Christmas cards.

Dianne, thanks for the reminder---that is what I am missing---I kept thinking I was missing something for this one space and it's the Nativity---duh! Hope the weather is not too bad for you. they just mentioned snow on the weather but it looks to be north of me. We generally don't get any from Northern systems.
Anne, It is much easier on a real computer.
Michael did not come---so I did get the living room tree up and decorated. Dh put the batteries in the stuff in the village scenes that needed them and they looked nice lit up last night. but we need more batteries for some other stuff---LOL
Back to work I go!

Hi! DD2 drove home last night--and shouldn't have work tomorrow with the ice already on the roads. DD3 was in Toronto--she got home about 6 to Detroit--and had a great weekend. Hubby is looking at work tomorrow but we'll see in the AM. We had a quiet day--no snow here although the Packers played the Giants in snow--and WON!! Good weekend for WI football.

Cathy--I will get tree up soon--but without the kids, I have no push. Not sure where I can put my Nativity--that space now has a TV. Sigh.... Glad you got help with stuff--most people are willing to lend a hand.

Kind of a quiet week planned--and that is JUST fine. Stay safe and warm, everyone!

Anne, sounds like you had a lovely Thanksgiving and the dinner out, too. Thanks for posting the picture. We should have tried the lights out on the porch last night but we were both tired from our shopping trip that afternoon.
Dianne, hope your Dh stays home to work on Monday with the weather predicted for your area. I think we are just going to get the tail end of the rain that starts today---going to be a pretty yucky day here. Nice that they gave you the turkey carcass. Did DD2 head back yesterday?
I got all the bins emptied except for the one for the tree and all the village people---they have to go up after the houses are lighted. Dh and I moved the empty bins down to the basement---those we can slide down and then light enough for him to handle. We went to 3 stores--ended up spending 300 bucks----of course the ink was a big chunk of that---thankfully I only need refills maybe once a year.. Bought a new desk chair on Black Friday price---that waits in the truck for Michael to bring in. We went out to the parking lot and 3 young men were loading up their car so I asked them for help loading it----then I had to ask for one of them to back out the truck---someone parked so close that Dh couldn't even get in---not sure if I could have either as the young fellow was skinny enough to just barely get in. I am not afraid to ask for help in situations like that.
Church today and then get the tree up in the living room and maybe the dining room but not sure if I will get either decorated---see how I feel---definitely need to call the doctor about shots in this knee after I find out what we are doing this week at school and make sure the teacher isn't taking any time off---she really can't afford to do that this month .
24 days til Christmas! emoticon emoticon

Hello! We have had such a nice visit with DD2--got a little shopping yesterday but nothing was really "Black Friday"--no traffic to speak of, no crowds in the stores we visited. The dollhouse has been picked up--the dartboard on Monday (I hope--we'll see with the weather). We visited long-time family friends again today--just a quick visit cause it is his 68th birthday--and in 2 weeks, he has colon cancer surgery. They come for dinner on the 13th.

Betsy--so sorry re: Tim but thankful he is no longer in pain. The holidays will be very hard this year. My friend who died in April has left a big hole in his family and they are holding up but it is hard. I hope you had a good holiday.

Anne--sounds like you were busy! We had JUST enough food for the dinner on Thanksgiving. No one was still hungry but we had nothing left but some turkey. I got the bones and have some lovely stock for soup later. We have pie--lots of lovely pie!

Lindie--glad Gene said no to more switching. Good for him! Is the strike over?

Terri--the boutique looks great! I hope all has been wonderful and you sold out. Oh, wait--then you need to do lots more sewing! Well--hope whatever is good for you! DD1 was going to take her hubby on a trip out to the Farallons today but it was cancelled due to the weather. Hope the weather doesn't impact the boutique but glad you are getting some rain with snow in the mountains.

Cathy--we did not get the lights up--it was cold today and yesterday we were into other things. So--not sure what we'll do this year--if it gets warm one day.... I hope DH will work from home on Monday cause our weather is going to be rough for NJ. (Easy for WI but too many people here are NOT from WI.)

Watching football now--and will watch tomorrow as well. Betsy--I hope the Badgers can keep the ax! Weather looks cold there for the game.

Hi all!

First and foremost...I am truly grateful for all of you!

Second, Betsy, I am so sorry for the loss that Tim's passing brings to his family and yours. However, he is free from pain and distress! May he feel the warm, loving embrace of Our Lord!

Cathy, good idea to do pizza despite all the leftovers! You can send some leftovers here, lol! J started hanging the lights indoors just inside the bow window and our bedroom window instead of outside a few years ago. It does make it so much easier to put up and take down! Yay to the new village pieces. (Ha, ha...I almost wrote village people...ha, ha!) I love the Santa!

Lindie, I avoid Black Friday mania at all costs...but the traffic is often unavoidable and I dislike that with a great intensity! Hope Gene is feeling better. Did Gene actually mind making the change and perhaps he said something to one who shared and they shared, etc...and thus it became distorted? Ink prices stink out loud! Such a rip off! I will buy the black with the other colors on occasion, too. Since that is what I usually use the most I will sometimes buy the double black package. Mmmm to roast beef and gravy!

Terri, glad you and Steve were able to help Jenny to set up in her boutique. Did you finish the last of it on time? How did the sales go? Yay to only dealing with Christmas gifts from now on! I think I would want the house ultra decorated since it is the last Christmas! Special memories!

Dianne, you are brave to shop on Black Friday! Did you get any special deals? Yay to DH getting the help hanging the lights! Did they come get the dart board and dollhouse?

Betsy, how's the weather? We have yuck coming this way tomorrow into Monday. I have my fingers and toes crossed that the meteorologists are wrong!

We went to Brazilian Grille with my sister, her dh, and her son for Thanksgiving. I really didn't want to go out for Thanksgiving dinner...not home-y! However, it was delicious and delightful! There was all kinds of meat, chicken, fish, and turkey, too! So many choices of appetizers, sides, and desserts! No clean up before, no cooking, no clean up after. The conversations were great! However, there is no leftovers to go through and the house didn't have the Thanksgiving smell, lol! I think I could do it again!

I had to work yesterday to help Rich get the Advent stuff set up, including removing all the 2019 hymnal/missals and replacing them with the 2020 ones. If the snow comes like they are predicting...we may be wishing we set up the outside stable, lol! I ordered some suction candle holders for the rectory. They were supposed to be delivered yesterday...but noooo, UPS couldn't deliver them because the office was closed. I wanted to scream! I would have had them sent to the gas station or the house. UPS has dropped things off by the door before when the office was closed. I am wondering if it is a parameter set by Amazon since theft is high with Amazon deliveries. Wish they had called me, especially since I was in the church!

Rich, his wife, J, Fr. L., Fr. J. and I went to a local Italian restaurant for dinner and listen to Alex and Jodi! We ended up in the room next to where they were playing...it was really nice because we were able to talk and actually hear each other...at least most of the times! I think everyone had a nice time. The food was good and plentiful...but a tad expensive. I just had the leftovers for lunch. Delish today too! No plans for the rest of the weekend...so maybe I will make a list of who I need to get Christmas gifts for and maybe some ideas of what to get! Oh, and maybe I'll get some Christmas Cards out this year!

Have a good Saturday night!

Anne

Betsy, so sorry for your and his family 's loss but he no longer is in pain and in a much better place. Hugs to all. Will you take off from work to go to the funeral if during the week?
I guess I would have to agree with Worf on it's a good day to Die--I know I am heading to a better place so I have no qualms about passing at any moment but will enjoy my life and serve as long as He gives me.
Dianne, nice that your Dh will have help with the lights. I am not sure if Michael will put any around the front porch or not---he doesn't seem inclined to doing that this year--maybe because it was summer before he could take them down this year. I might ask Dh if he wants to string the lights inside the porch where we could reach and take down. We could use command hooks inside for that. I wish I didn't have all these leftovers in the fridge---LOL
Terri, you are right--Andy rarely thinks of us so that was highly unusual---since I already had them upstairs I went ahead and unpacked them and set up a display with them in a space that I needed something---Now I just need to light them----they are smaller than my other village stuff---more like the size that my Santa Village stuff is. Glad Steve didn't mind driving to the coast to take those things for her. Hope you got everything done that you wanted to and that you are able to get the Christmas stuff completed---but please come up for air now and then and let us know you are okay and not buried under fabric---LOL Hope Steve has some dry days to complete those steps, too.
Anne, did you get the Church decor finished? It was nice to text back and forth yesterday.
Lindie, glad you enjoyed your dinner. I need to run out today and get ink, too. Michael checked to see what I need so now I can go buy---both mine are dry as it prints out blank pages now----LOL Some people don't think about how a change will affect more than just themselves and the other person---the ME mentality.
I got done all that I could do yesterday---pulled out everything I had upstairs to decorate with and place it around. They didn't come until 5 and only brought up bins---guess something else came up for them to do---so today I will unpack the multitude of bins and set up the houses so he can come light them on Sunday. The tree for the living room is upstairs too so that can be set up. I did unpack one bin of the living room Santa villages and my snowmen so they are set up. We had to go to CVS yesterday and I spotted this adorable Santa---about 3 feet tall---that is a cookie making Santa with a bag of icing and a gingerbread cookie in the other---he has a chef hat on and an apron with a rolling pin and whisk sticking out. We got a decent coupon when we paid for Dh's prescription so that is why I went ahead and bought him.
I did buy pizza from Pizza Hut for all of us so that I really didn't have to cook and so that Dh could stand to have turkey tonight----LOL

Good evening Friends, by now most of you should be in your jammies enjoying a movie or something while the day's eating feast is digesting nicely, I hope LOL well here on the west coast it was a cold sunny day and the temps will be colder all weekend. I stayed home to avoid the black friday sales throngs but did venture out at 4:30 to pick up some ink for my printer that I had reserved at BestBuy. I am out of black but one black cylinder is 39.99 and a pack of 4 colors incuding the black was 70.00 so it seemed cheaper to me to get the 4 instead of just one.Evenutally those other colours will give out too. Other then that and a walk to safeway, it was a quiet day here today. Gene is home nursing a cold - his ear is plugged and I suggested gargling with hot water and salt - we will see - he did get a call to see if he wanted to work and he said no. There is a change in his shift that he has agreed to, it means tuesady, wednesday off instead of frida, saturday - he still works days. All this had to go through the proper channels and it did so he's fine with it, the other person who caused this, however, thought Gene made a big deal outta switching days, however, it does affect who covers Gene on his days off, not just the switched days. The other guy who wanted the change, only saw his own issues not how it affects all the employees. Anyway, all resolved.

Terri, I see you are sequestered into the sewing room for the night, I hope you get everything done that you need to. I understand how computers can suck a person into the vortex lol Glad your grands pitched in and helped with the meal as no doubt you are or were still affected by jet lag !

Dianne, glad you had a good day today and good dinner at your friends. Did you get things out and put up ?

Anne, I have to tell you, "not a good time to die" made me think of Warf of Startrek, who's line was "its a good day to day" just the oposite - in reality no day is a good day to die ! I wonder if you are coming down with something, I find when I am coming down with something -- I am super quiet 24 hours before and I sleep a long time too - more then usual like my body is preparing for battle, hope you are well though.

Cathy glad you had a good day and got into your jammies, did you find a good movie to watch?

Betsy, hope all is well with you - its too bad that your son's girl friend was sick, but couldn't they have told you that, rather then make you call ? A little courtesay can go a long long way ...

Well I did get my steps in, and I had a good dinner when I got back from Bestbuy - roast beef and mash potatos with gravie, bought it from Safeway and will buy it again, so far 2 meals outta this !

The house is empty now. DD2 spent the night last night to avoid driving on icy roads, so we've had a very nice morning, visiting over coffee and nibbling on leftovers. Steve took a load of my crafts and DIL1's, over to the coast for Jenny to stage for tomorrow. He also took some folding tables and other things that she couldn't fit into her car last night.

I'm going to try to keep this quick because I'm on the computer and don't want to grow roots here. I still have a few more projects to finish up and take over to Jenny's tomorrow, so want to stay busy. After today, it will be Christmas ONLY.

Anne, I laughed this morning when I read J's thoughts on your non-response. Thank you for that. We've had too many recent deaths recently and that struck me funny that this would be a very inconvenient time for you to die! I agree with him. I had to read it out loud to Steve and he laughed too, but asked when it would be a good time. I told him you might have to ask J when it might fit on his calendar.

Cathy, I hope you and Ashlee have a nice time decorating. I guess you've hit it off well with Michael's gf from your comments, and I'm happy for you. If they stay together, Reagann will have Dom as a cousin to grow up with and they seem to get along well together. I was happy to hear that Andy was thinking of you when he found those houses. That's nice, as he isn't the one who usually does things like that, is he?

I'm glad dh had help other than you for the outside lights, Dianne. Steve is becoming sort of a Scrooge about that sort of thing, but if the grandkids come over and help out, he's game. I'm going to encourage him to go all-out with the lights this year, as it will likely (hopefully) be our last Christmas in this house. We've got a brief window of dry weather--yesterday and today--but it's supposed to rain again, starting tomorrow. We have snow at the higher elevations and it's cold enough to make the roads icy in some places, so it's not pleasant to work outside right now. He'll push on with the front steps, though and try to get that job DONE asap so that he can move on to the next thing. I'm pushing to have it done by Christmas, for sure. He WILL need some dry days, though.

Betsy and Lindie, I hope you're staying as warm as possible and still getting things done that are important to you. I'll pop back by as I'm able, but I'm on a deadline and it's LOOMING!
I will add my voice in gratitude for this team and the friendships--real friendships--that have been forged over time via this medium. A little strange for our generation, but true nonetheless.
