We are blessed--and I do think we realize it!

We had a nice dinner at my friend's house--she had her 3 kids and one son-in-law and one girl friend--the girl friend flew with the youngest from CO--via Albuquerque. WE had DD2--have been going there for 12 years! There was some turkey leftover--that was it. And pie but we hoped for pie left! Very nice afternoon and evening.

Today--DD2 wants to go to Michaels. (Did you hear that AC Moore will be closing? That is sad--I guess it started in Middletown, NJ where I live!) I need to hit the grocery store for the pork loin that is on sale for 99 cents a pound. Also need to do laundry and put some food into the freezer for later--leftovers from earlier in the week!

DH wants to put up the icicle lights while DD2 is home to help--I don't like to help with that job. And I'll likely get the tree standing--may or may not get decorations! I have hopefully sold the dart board and dollhouse that we have had unused for ages--we'll see if the people show up. Facebook does have several ways to get rid of stuff!

Cathy--take it easy today--you earned it!

We are definitely a blessed group!
Betsy, hope the weather cooperates for the visit. I don't see how you will fit your little in there.
Anne, hope you enjoyed your relaxation on the couch.
Terri, how many people at dinner yesterday?
Dianne, hope she gets to stay until Sunday. We are expecting rain for Sunday.
I was exhausted by the time dinner was ready---and had lots of leftovers---although there wasn't as much turkey as Matthew took some home and I sent a plate home with Andy for Shari in case she wanted a dinner.. Michael helped load the dishwasher after dinner and once we got that filled, we got that started with the first load. Reagann and Dom had fun playing together---they were outside for some of the time playing with the cornhole game and with their bubble wands from Disney. After everyone left Dh helped me finish putting the leftovers in containers and freezing the turkey into packets so he won't be stuck eating it all weekend---LOL I sat at the table to do all that as my knee was really bothering me. Once all the food was put away we both collapsed in the living room. Shortly after, even though it was 6, I got my pjs on and took a nice nap, then woke up and we emptied the dishwasher and loaded it with more dishes, then I handwashed the stuff that could not go in there. I only have 2 things to wash today---a crock pot which has water soaking in it and the strainer.
Michael is going to come over to bring up my village stuff and then Ashlie will come after she is done work stuff to help me decorate. We do need to pull the leaf out of the table and put that away today to make room for the Christmas stuff. Andy bought me some more ceramic houses that a friend was selling so I will need to figure where they will go---nice that he thought of me when he saw them.
Hope everyone can relax some today.

Happy Thanksgiving! We have the squash soup done, carrots cut and ready to cook. bread sliced, wine chosen--we leave very soon. Went to visit long time friends--all the kids are home and the daughter is pregnant, due in April so good to see her and "meet" the bump! Didn't see the patriarch of the family--he wasn't feeling 100%--has colon cancer and chemo treatments--hope to see him Saturday for his 68th birthday.

Terri--glad you are home safely! Enjoy your holiday. DD1 said it was 38 at her place this AM--she did 8 miles today.

Betsy--my folks got home okay this AM. My brother got 2 more deer by my folk's place. I think he wants 1-2 more. Hope all goes well for your celebration--sorry DS won't make it. I finished my shopping on-line today.

Cathy--sounds like you had a nice time with your DGD. I hope your day is great--having any kids home? DD2 will leave if Sunday looks awful. We will assess on Saturday.

Anne--my DH got up last night cause couldn't all asleep--he was up till 2 but emptied the dishwasher, etc! I tossed for a bit but was sleep well before he came back up. Hope you got some sleep. We had one gentleman at work have a diabetic incident--pastor just waited cause was in the center area and during a funeral.

Heading out for dinner. DD2 got here about 6:15 last night. We walked into town for coffee/bagels this AM. I have my steps!

Thank you for being my friends!

We've been on a cleaning frenzy this mornig, doing last minute things. Now I'm upstairs, finishing whatever I can in the sewing room so I can send it home with Jenny tonight.

I'm always thankful for my family, but even more so today. Even some of the adult grands have stepped up to pitch in with the meal!

Happy Thanksgiving, friends!

Happy Thanksgiving! emoticon emoticon I probably won't get to catch up until the weekend but I WILL do it. Cathy, we have had emergency situations in our church as well and the Mass continues as it helps people not to panic. I sent a text to our DS asking if he would be here for lunch and sadly, I got the response that Simone is ill so they are not coming. Laundry is going, pies are cooling, whipping cream still has to be whipped and then we are off to Waupaca ( home of BIL and SIL .) We won't be back until late tonight and then tomorrow is a bit of Black Friday shopping ( not a fan but I support DD1) before we rush back here to see my friend with CP ( the one with the DH who had a stroke last summer.) Once they leave we go into hyperdrive to finish cleaning the basement for my sister and her DH. However, that is also up in the air because we have an 80 percent chance of wintry mix on Saturday and an 80 percent chance of snow on Sunday. Her week long appointment starts at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota on Monday morning so they have to go but they may skip our part of the journey. If they are here, we celebrate Christmas with them on Saturday night with a corned beef dinner. We are supposed to fit our Little Brother into the mix too but I am not sure how!
Thanks for all your prayers and continued thoughts for Tim and Cindy. My heart just aches for their family.

On a happier note, I am grateful for this team and once again wish all of you and yours a very blessed and happy Thanksgiving Day. Lindie, I know it isn't Thanksgiving up there but I still wish you a blessed and happy day!

Cathy, glad you had an enjoyable day with Reagann! Yay, to a store not being crazy the afternoon/evening before Thanksgiving! Yes, the other priest was there with the man. I know when people have fainted during Mass the priests continued the Mass so that people would stay calm. Though I am not aware of anyone actually having a cardiac situation, just fainting.

Sadly I did not sleep well. I was either too hot or too cold to be comfortable! I'm being lazy on the sofa right now and plan to stay that way, at least for a while.

Have a great day!

Terri, I am sure you are glad to be home and have Steve there as well and know he won't be rushing off to leave you next week. Hope the turkey turns out as nicely as it did last year. That is one big turkey! I put mine in at 5 this morning and got the sweet potatoes started in the crock pot before hitting the shower. Glad your mom is not going to travel in the snow, especially since you had so much trouble getting home yourself. What kind of tables are you setting up for the meal since you gave your big table away?
Dianne, with the weather forecast for Sunday, will your DD2 head home on Saturday. Turned pretty windy here yesterday and made it feel colder, but not until the afternoon.
Lindie, dark meat is my favorite, too---both in chicken and turkey---so much more moister--I find white meat dry. Nice of you to help your nephew out. Hope he listens to your advise. Glad no side effects from the procedure.
Anne, you must have needed that sleep---hope you got some good sleep last night. Sad about that man going down at church---we had one do that at the church where we met. Our pastors would have headed right over and prayed over him--how come the priest didn't do that or was the other one there?
Betsy, glad the weather improved and hope it doesn't interfere with your family plans.
Reagann really enjoyed making the Oreo Cookie house---the kit had a tray with special places for the house which really helped support the whole thing. And it smelled so good---made the dining room smell like an oreo cookie--yum! She had fun decorating it and we also used some of our M & M's along with the stuff that came in the kit. She also created her own little trees in the front yard with oreos. Then she did the large foam gingerbread man and snowman. I had also bought a lego Christmas magnet that you had to put together---so she put that together and put it on the fridge. She loves doing craft stuff. I need to ask her what stuff she needs replenishing in her stash and get that for Christmas for her. We went to Chick-fil-a---and her dad was there with the fire crew getting lunch---that was a nice surprise. Then we went over to Five Below---I needed to look for presents for my students---got something for 2 of them---still not sure what to get the other 2 boys. Dh and I did have to go to Walmart last night to get bread and milk and potatoes since I forgot that the day before. It wasn't too crazy. Reagann also helped tear up the bread for my stuffing today---I told her that was how I started learning to make it by helping my Mommom, too.
Have a lovely Thanksgiving---stay safe---don't eat too much---and enjoy your time with family and friends. emoticon

Hi Team, I did have children today and as soon as they left, it was a cleaning frenzy. We are on our way to bed but I wanted to pop on so you would know we are fine. The wintry mix was awful but things were better by the end of the day. Weather and driving conditions look good for tomorrow. Happy Thanksgiving! emoticon

Hi all!
Lindie, sure hope the members vote to not strike and that they get what is proper and decent pay that does not end up costing those who take the transit system. Sounds like an expensive shopping spree, but you seem content about the cost so you must have purchased a lot! I agree about the battery-operated toothbrushes...the batteries don't seem to last very long! Sorry about your nephew losing his job. I hope he can find a replacement one soon or is eligible for unemployment and career schooling! Hope the cobbler can stretch your boots for you!

Dianne, so glad you folks made it safely to their destination and that young man had the sense to stop driving in the very inclement, unsafe conditions! Hope Bob was happy to see you! I do not pay attention to the long range forecast any more...between the hype of the inclement weather and the times that the forecast is inaccurate I just don't find it worth giving it much thought. I'll listen when it is Saturday, lol!

Terri, yay to all you accomplished on your trip home! Sounds like Ali did a great job cleaning for you and made your return home a much happier one! Sorry you had no power, but glad the generator works! Also glad Steve was home to get it up and running and take care of the few things that helped you move along with all that you needed to do! I am very interested in how the turkey comes out!

Cathy, I bet Jeremiah also enjoyed having the full attention on him! Nice that there were learning moments that he grasped! It sounds like he had a really good time. Yay to finding some things that you can return and pick up for your boys! How did the Oreo Cookie Gingerbread House come out? Did Reagann have fun helping to put it together?

Betsy, continued prayers for healing for DH and for Tim's family. Hope your everyone is safe and sound! Did you have wee ones today?

I found out yesterday that a 70+ year old gentleman had a heart attack during our 9:30 Mass this past Sunday. There were some nurses in the church that assisted the gentleman doing CPR and the EMT's had to use the defibrillator on him. He did flatline, but they got him back. They took him to the local hospital (about 20 minutes away with no traffic), but he was then Med-flighted to a Boston hospital. Sadly, he passed away either last night or this morning...I only overheard part of Fr. J's conversation with Fr. L as I was passing through the office area. I was told that Mass continued and that some people were aware that something was going on near the sacristy (they had the man lying on the aisle by the sacristy door) and that others had no idea. It was nice that Fr. L, who was celebrating the Mass, was able to maintain calm.

I can not believe how fast this year has gone by...only 1 month left! J has to decide this weekend if he is going to continue on the Medicare supplemental plans or change them...what a pain! I haven't started to figure out Christmas yet and on my way home from work picked up the Fathers Dunkin Donuts gift cards for Thanksgiving gifts...I am so far behind! I sure hope I catch up!

I am going to bed in Victoria's bedroom tonight. I am hoping to get a good sleep...I did not sleep well last night up here, but I came up around 2:00. I did fall into a dead sleep sometime after 4:30 and never heard J's alarm (he claims it went off and he snoozed it twice), J using the bathroom, or running the kitchen faucet. He had to come upstairs to wake me because I did not even respond to his calls from the bottom of the stairs. That is so not like me! If I don't hear the alarm the first time it goes off, I always hear it the second and then get up! He told me tonight that he thought, "not a good time her to die," lol, so he was surprised by my non-response! Since no alarms are going off and we do not have to head out until about 12:30, I can be very lazy! Fingers crossed that I fall into another deep sleep that makes me feel rested!

Have a good night!

Anne

Good morning all, nice day here but cold - the bus strike for 3 days has been cancelled as the groups reached a tentative settlement, now the members will vote on it. Not sure of all the issues, but I know from the union I was in, they always included things that would get them what they really wanted ... almost like a wishlist kinda thing.

Dianne, happy that your parrents arrived safe and sound before that storm hit - hope your visit with Bob went ok. How was your coffee and walk ?

Cathy, glad you had a good time at the mall, none of the malls here are low crowds, they are all high traffic areas especially with the teens, they tend to congregate at these malls so I tend to stay away - hope you have a good day with Reaghann, do you find now that she is getting older her personality is changing, or her interests are changing? Did you do the oreo house ?

Terri, welcome home, so glad you also made it home safe and sound and no doubt so very happy to see your prince - great that Ali cleaned well for you - did she come over to help ? Why was there no hydro ? Are forrest fires still happening and still needing power outages ? I hope the turkey turns out well for you. I'll have dark meat only please LOL

I got out and got some shopping done - all 170.00 worth ! and I only bought one package of meat - but I did buy some high ticket items like toothbrush - I like the battery operated ones - the batteries don't seem to last long now though ... I also got 2 big cans of coffee and they were 9.99 each, plus some weight watchers frozen dinners that were on sale, turkey and potato, and an alfredo and broccoli to try ... plus a rotisarie chicken for dinner tonight - I did not get any salad stuff though - I will do that maybe friday when my sister is off and go to another place for that.

My nephew was laid off from his job, and he was depressed over this, so I gave him a care package of food out of the cupboards - then his mom took him shopping too - I suggested to her to get him to apply for employment insurance and then look into an apprenticeship program throuigh BCIT - but that is up to him to do.

I will resume exercising tomorrow, the abdomen should be ok to start. I want to take my boots to a shoe/boot repair and see if I can get them to stretch them, or see if they can work them so they are more flexible - will have to see.

Morning! My parents arrived safely and a young man I know moving to Denver got as far as JUST into CO before he stopped at noon due to weather. So I hope people are smart and don't try to go too far!

Lindie--that was really nice that your sister could interact with the walrus. I can see that zoos and all are not the best place for these wonderful creatures but out starving due to climate change isn't a good idea either! Hope you keep recovering from your procedure! I hope Bob is doing okay--I expect I'll get there this afternoon.

Cathy--I expect your young man had sufficient supervision! Sounds like he enjoyed himself. I would also teach my girls to look at how many pieces, etc. Glad you saw a gift or two for your shopping. I sat yesterday and figured I will give the girls $$ for specific things--and wrap it all up, of course! Still have to buy for my sister and prepare a small box to ship to her and home for Christmas.

Grey here today--but no rain yet. Sounds like Anne and my DD2 will have really bad weather on Sunday to Monday. I did get out for a walk--got my coffee!

HOME--I don't know when I've been happier to be anywhere!

I bought almost all of my groceries at the restaurant supply store (opens at 6am) in Redding, then went to Target to look for an electric knife because I got scolded last year for tossing my old one that didn't work very well, drove through a fast food for a breakfast sandwich and headed home. The drive is usually 2 hours, with a small town right in the middle, between two mountain summits. It was snowing and I really wanted to get past those mountains before people started slipping and sliding. I made it over the first one, but came upon a road block before I got to Weaverville. A big rig had slid on a corner and was blocking both lanes of the highway, closing it down for several hours. I was told that I could detour through Lewiston, a little old mining town nestled back in the mountains. It would take me longer to go around, but not as long as sitting in my car, waiting for the highway to be cleared. Fortunately, I had a cell signal right there, so called Steve to tell him what I was doing so he wouldn't worry. The detour took about 45 minutes and once I came out near Weaverville, I called him again. I had forgotten to pick up some extra Turkey giblets to make broth for the stuffing and gravy, so went to the little grocery store there and was relieved to find some. The last summit between there and home is just out of town and the highway patrol had already set up a roadblock for chain control to keep unprepared, unsafe cars off the road. My SUV has 4WD and good tires so he let me pass with a caution to drive safely. I kept my speed to 25-30 mph and called Steve again once I was over that mountain. The whole trip took about 4 hrs, but was worth it.

When I got out of the car, Steve said that the power had just gone off about 20 minutes prior and he'd had to go and start the generator. I am so glad we had it fixed and that he was home to get it going. We put all the groceries away and stayed close to the fire the rest of the day and evening. I had already told him I needed to get things ready for Jenny's boutique ASAP, so he had done a few things for me. He had already bottled the vanilla extract I've been "curing" in the pantry since September, so we applied the labels I'd printed to the bottles so I could take a picture to send to Jenny. She advertises for her boutique by featuring each of the vendors on her FB page, and wanted some pictures.

Then we decided to go ahead and start roasting the turkey. It's another big one (35lbs) and I wanted to use the same method (Low & Slow) as last year because it turned out so well. I have a friend who always cooks her birds the day before and slices them into a foil pan with a little broth. She keeps the meat covered with foil and them reheats it in the oven before serving. That frees up space in her oven for other dishes and elimates the chore of carving right before dinner. It also gives her access to all the drippings to make her gravy sooner, rather than having to wait. She says the meat is always moist--I'll let you know how it works out.

We also took the time to call the dd of our dear neighbor who passed last weekend. She said she was sad for herself but happy for her mother to be at home with the Saviour whom she loved so much. She had been a widow for 1 day short of 17 years. She nearly passed on the anniversary of her husband's death. She asked Steve to be a pallbearer at the service on the 7th and he choked up, saying that it would be his honor.

I woke up just before 5 this morning and was rested and ready to go, so need to get to work. I'll finish as much as I can in the sewing room today so it's ready to send home with Jenny tomorrow. I really don't want to have to go to town on Friday if I dont have to.

Gd Ali will come over and work some more today, I think; however, I'm satisfied with how the downstairs looks so will be okay if she doesn't. Steve will vacuum upstairs and help me move furniture if I decide to do that. Mom won't be coming because of the snow, but may come over on Friday and stay through the weekend. It's supposed to be sunny and in the 70s by then and she'd like to go to the boutique on Saturday with me.

I hear movement downstairs, so will go refill my coffee cup and kiss my Prince. Have I said how glad I am to be home?

Terri

Betsy, I hope you don't get much snow but it sure looks bad what they are showing on the TV--I think if I lived in those areas I would rather have my family stay safe at home than travel in that weather for a meal. Bet this ruins a bunch of black Friday sales in the stores but as long as they have power, they can shop online---LOL I am sure Tim is holding on for his son like my aunt did. So much pain and suffering on everyone's part. Hope your dd1 came home last night. We went to the grocery store after we went out for dinner---the parking lot was kind of full but by the time we got our few things, there weren't that many in the store and the parking lot was pretty empty. We were bummed that they did not even get any mincemeat pies this year--the bakery worker said there were a lot of upset customers and we made sure we told the manager we were unhappy about it, too. I am hoping Michael can find one in a nice store up where he works---not that we really need it---no one seems to want dessert after a big dinner here so it usually ends up with just Dh and I eating them---so I just bought one pumpkin pie in case someone ones a piece.
Terri, maybe she was looking at the Florida time for getting back home. Glad you got back soon enough to drive to your Mom's. Bet your mind was going a million miles a minute thinking of what you need to get done when you get home. Are the others bringing all the sides for the dinner? So nice that Ali cleaned the house for you---bet that was a relief to you.
Dianne, are you going to your friend's for Thanksgiving again? You have done that for the last couple of years if I remember right.
Anne, you rascal, keeping that secret so well! Too bad others weren't so good at it. Glad he won't be that far from you so that you can help him move his stuff in there---and hope there is enough space to store all his stuff---sounds like he needs to get rid of a lot of it. Of course they all want you for some time over the holiday visit but you decide how you want to spend your time and where---you could always choose to go stay in a hotel and just visit them and then escape when you want to---LOL---but know that would be costly, too.
Lindie, remember how surprised you were that our Mall was not very busy when you were here? WEll, it was a bit more busy than normal but not crowded at all. We have lost 3 big stores since it opened---the anchor stores and the only one that holds it together is Boscov's---and they are expanding that store so that they will stay. Glad you are feeling okay and back to "normal". LOL
It was an interesting field trip---we only had one child show up---our girl was home sick and no idea about the other 2---figure Dalton's mom kept him home and I don't think Richi wanted to go anyhow. So Jeremiah had 3 adults supervising him. We showed him were things were. We talked about prices and he picked out a bag of candy and learned that it had more pieces in it than the other one at the same price so it was a better deal. We went to a sit down restaurant and he got pizza and fries so he was very happy and stuffed. As we were leaving we came across Santa having his lunch and he was nice enough to allow us to take his picture with Jeremiah. We did quite a bit of shopping and I saw something that I might go back and get for my boys---or at least Matthew---I do try to get my oldest some kind of toy just to entertain him---LOL We went out to dinner but I only ate half because of my big lunch---then Dh couldn't eat mine so we brought it home so we have leftovers for tonight so no cooking here today.
We have Reagann today---hope she wants to do this Oreo Cookie house---if not it will go home with Ashlie for her and Dom to do.
Happy Day before Thanksgiving! emoticon

Good afternoon friends, I am no longer legally drunk, bwahahahaha - I never drink anyway !!! Well maybe once in a while a glass of wine but can't remember last time I did that either !!

Betsy, I can well understand Cindy keeping the last days to family, their time is short, and you will have plently of time in the future to help Cindy get through her loss, there will be an adjustment to make and you will be there for her, everyone needs a friend like you in their lives. Hope your day went well.

Dianne, since my sister works around the animals they know her - they know her walk and her voice, and this one would call out to her and she would answer back, so I know she was not afraid but she did have one of the vet assistance with her to guide her - originally she was denied this, but the assistant said, " oh yes you are" - some people there do apprecate her ! She will miss them once they are relocated, but she has other animals there too that play at night when she is working ! You are a good friend to Bob, his family must be thankful for your visits. Glad you got your errands done too and hope your mom and dad have a safe trip to where they are going.

Terri, I take it you are safely home now, all shopping done and you are directing things at your house now - or have you locked yourself into your sewing room ?

Anne, I am not surrpised that you and Fr B will remain friends, he's been special to you from the beginning ! Good of you to keep mum on his new assignment as anything could have interferred with that ! Why not spend part time with one family and part time with two, just put their names in a hat, then draw - first name, first part of the visit, OR have them both online and pick a number that you already chose, the one closest gets you first ... have fun with it and include them in the fun ! I am sure things will work out.

Cathy, they did not knock me out, so I was fully awake for this procedure and watched, but there was some point 2 x where there was pain and I let them know. I did receive some local but not enough to go to sleep - better I was awake - I saw them lop off the pulyps and there was some bleeding but that is not when the pain happened, I am thinking they needed more air in there LOL See I am NOT full of hot air after all LOL These of course have been sent to the lab, but my release paper did not state the next visit, but I am to go to the doctors in 3 weeks for the full results - in the meantime no special diet yet! When you first said to the mall with the kids, I thought, oh what a terrible place to take them, but then thought about it some, and it would be a good place to learn interactive skills. How did the paper chains go ?

I am feeling better today and got 6 hours sleep uninterrupted by cat LOL

Terri--glad you are home without hitting any of the bad weather! Glad it was earlier than you expected, too. I do wish I had someone to come in and clean for me--I hate cleaning....

Betsy--my folks are going to my sister's today so no traveling tomorrow. And my brother plans to butcher deer tomorrow instead of going out to hunt--so that will be a warmer/drier activity--but still messy! Hope your DD makes it safely!

Cathy--I hope they can figure out paper chains. We used to do that for Advent--take one off each day. I need to go find the little mouse that is the usual countdown to Christmas--I would have to move the little moue back so EACH girl could move it. Glad they are now grown up! Maybe have them do it in age order this year when all of them are home.

Anne--glad you got November ready to go. I expect your kids want to see you--that is why "stay with me" is being yelled! Hmm--can DH sleep in one place and you in the other?? You might sleep better! I believe my DD3 is going to fly home on Christmas Day--we have flown that day and it wasn't bad.

Lindie--I would be afraid of the walrus and my finger. Glad your sister had a good vibe with it! And very glad you are now eating without any restrictions!

I did see Bob today--he is diabetic and his sugar was low. Took him some cheese and tomatoes so hope that helps him get even. Did a bunch of errands--glad they are done and I can stay home now. I did do weight lifting this AM--really a good workout. Also dropped some stuff at the thrift store. Hooray!

Hi all!
Terri, glad you were able to get closer to home than planned! Good luck with shopping. Hope Ali took care of the things you "need" to get done in regards to cleaning! Yes, sometimes there is no place like home and home crazy!

Betsy, hope the weather isn't as bad as predicted and that you get mostly rain and the roads do not get slick! Hope you have what you need for Thanksgiving and do not have to go to the stores! Prayers for Cindy and Tim.

Cathy, are you allowed to hang papers? After the Warwick, RI club fire that happened in 2003, the schools started not hanging very much in papers as a precaution. I hope the kids can manage the garland task! Good luck at the mall!

Lindie, glad your procedure is done and over! Will they biopsy those small polyps...I hope so! I am caught up with this month's spreadsheets, but haven't started setting up the December one yet. We are flying to GA Christmas Eve (flight is at 5:30) and returning home New Year's Eve morning. I thought this was going to be an easy one, but 2 kids want us to stay with them which makes life crazier than I had wanted. Ah, but this, too, will pass.

Dianne, sorry Bob's Alzheimers is progressing more quickly. Glad Monday's at the home are so much less stressful! Have fun with the girls!

I spent the afternoon with Fr. Bill working on his addresses. We updated the list I had, put it on a thumb drive, and added it onto his computer. He needs to double check about a dozen. We also put together a list that he wants to send out Christmas Cards with his new information on. I had hoped to get more done, but time was faster than we were, lol! He took me to lunch, which also "ate up" (pun intended) much more time that we expected. I was very late getting to work at the gas station afterwards. He did get word and he will be going to a parish about 45 - 60 minutes from me. I will help him next Thursday (12/5) get his things from the house he is staying at together and up to his new rectory. We will assess how much can be brought up from storage once we see the space that is available there. I hope all of it!

Funny story...I was told over a week ago where Fr. B would possibly be assigned. I did not share this with anyone since it wasn't finalized...he and the pastor there needed to meet and discuss. This was done last Thursday. When I got to the place he is staying he was on the phone with the owner of the place. I went into the "great" room and watched the ocean waves so he could continue his call. All of a sudden I heard him say "did Anne tell you?" Then I went to the room. Apparently he called his friend (owner of the house) to let him know about the new assignment because the pastor at the church he's going to mentioned it at Mass over the weekend, one of our daily Mass parishioner's sister-in-law goes to that church and called her. She in turn told the hairdresser that Fr. B goes to. He had called her earlier in the morning to make a haircut appointment and she congratulated him about his new assignment. He did ask her if Anne told her, which she denied and then explained how she found out. I told him that I hadn't shared with anyone, including J or Rich. He thought that it would be odd that I would share because he knows how tight-lipped I can be, lol! However, on my way home I called Rich...didn't him want to find out via scuttlebutt! I also told J once I got home. Whew! No more secrets! BTW, Fr. B agreed that I should inform both J and Rich instead of scuttlebutt, lol!

Guess I should get moving, otherwise, I will be late for the rectory today, lol!

Have a great day!

Anne

Aunt had told me our flight didn't arrive in Sacramento until 8:30 and I thought I'd have to spend the night at her house last night, as she's only an hour from the airport. Thankfully, she was wrong and we landed at 5 PM and that was early enough to drop her at home and drive another 3 hrs to Mom's house. I woke up at 4 (7 am, Florida time) and my mind is already racing through my To Do list, so I just got up, made my bed and got packed up. The grocery store I want to go to opens at 6, so I'll hit that first and then other stores will be open for anything I can't get there.

Steve said gd Ali had come in to clean while he was gone yesterday, so I'll need to stop at the ATM to get some cash to pay her. She may come back to do more later. Adam and Sarah dropped off the turkey yesterday to thaw in the downstairs fridge, so my cooking is laid out for me. I'll also make some green beans w/bacon and open some pickles and apple butter, but I'm not baking anything--at least, not planning to at this point.

I'm so glad to be almost home to MY brand of "crazy". I love my mom and her sisters, but a little bit goes a long way when they are together. I'm pretty sure Mom feels the same about my crowd.

I'm still on my phone, so will stop now and not comment on all; besides, I haven't made notes but am thinking of Tim and Cindy and all they're facing. Hoping you all have a peaceful Thanksgiving, counting your blessings and giving thanks for them. I know that I am -- especially after this past week!

Dianne, we are in the wintry mix zone so we'll have a mess but not the large snow totals expected north of us. DD1 is in the winter warning zone effective at 9 tonight so we are hopeful she'll come right after school today instead of tomorrow. What a great idea to have a service between dinner and dessert, great way to get people to stay! Your parents should definitely not drive to Wausau on Wednesday!

Lindie, here if they find any polyps, worrisome or not, the next procedure is scheduled for five years instead of ten. Good luck with your follow up visit. Thanks for your kind words on Tim and Cindy. Their son comes home from Nashville today and I suspect Tim's hanging on for him. They decided to keep it to just family last night and we respected their wishes but have the offer out there to do anything we can for them.

Terri, you must be safe at home and hurriedly preparing for the big feast. Our stores are going to be mobbed tonight with the double whammy of a winter storm and Thanksgiving coming so soon.

Cathy, have fun at the mall. I had to read that twice because we haven't had a mall here for many years. Are there a lot of stores in your mall or just a few anchors? I remember you said you were grateful that your mom made it to after Thanksgiving. At this point, I just want the family to have some time together and Tim's agony to end, no matter what day it is. On top of cancer, the poor man has a hernia and he is very uncomfortable.

Anne, I have a shredder on my Christmas wish list. We use the fireplace in the winter but stuff piles up the rest of the year... and there's always expired credit cards too!

Betsy, that is sad---hope he makes it thru the holiday for the sake of the famly---Dh's mom passed away the day after---we were just glad it was not on the actual day.
Terri, hope you arrived home safely---did you wave to me?
Dianne, glad you will have help with the tree and the decorating. The kids will love that. We are going to have our kids make paper chain garland---that should be a hoot. They couldn't even tie the knots to make their craft yesterday. I was busy cutting strips yesterday---the teacher wants them everywhere so I will need to cut more today before and after we go on our field trip. Too bad about Bob but glad you got to sing for the others.
Lindie, you shouldn't have felt any pain unless you asked not to be knocked out. Super yuck to that and for watching it----bet you will have to have another one sooner than 10 years because of the small ones found. How neat that your sister got to interact with the Walrus.
We had a luncheon at school yesterday--food was good--my yams turned out well---i kind of followed a recipe that I have used for several years but used the canned ones---boy, does that make it easier and doesn't take as long to cook---I even enjoyed eating it---so I will do the same thing for our dinner Thursday.
Today we take the kids to the Mall---well, right now we only have permission from 2 kids---we kind of hope Dalton doesn't come but will call Richi's dad to get a verbal okay as they don't check his book bag. Otherwise they will be staying back with the low level kids.
Have a good Tuesday!

Good evening everyone, I am home safe and sound from the procedure and they did fine 4 "tiny" polyps that they are not concerned about and said to go see the dr at the clinic that arranged this in 2 weeks, so I will do that. They suggested the bleeding I have experienced was from hemroids - and to use the normal stuff or talk to the dr about them. I am however, legally drunk due to the knock out drug which did not knock me out haha and am to remain quiet for 24 hour period, no exercise - and I only got 3 hours sleep last night but did manage a nap this afternoon ( wonders for me, I never nap ) I watched the procedure, quite interesting and some of it was painful. All done now.

Betsy, I know you and your DH will comfort Cindy and Tim in these final hours, its so hard, hoever, I know you will be there for them. I know you will comfort each other when you get home too. I know you will let Cindy know she is not alone and you will be a helping hand when needed .

Terri, sure hope you got safely home ok and you are enjoying your family again, I pretty sure you missed them a lot !

Dianne, it's unfortunate about Bob's dementia getting worse - help as you can, I know you care deeply for this gentleman, but do pace yourself so you do not take on too much yourself. Enjoy your time with your practise grands, Oh my sister was here tonight to show me a couple of videos of her interacting with one of the walrusses - she said he sucked on her finger and was so gentle and she got to blow bubbles to him, they like that. They are leaving now to go back to their aquarium home in Quebec, she said she will miss them.

Cathy, two days of work !!! And the teacher late on one of them, no doubt maybe both of them, oh my almost have to pick your battles with that one eh ? How did that recipe work out with the apple sauce and yams, I have never heard of that !

Anne, hope all is well and you have the month end reports almost done and the spread sheets for next month almost ready - how are the vacation plans coming along ?

Well I better go and rest some more - I am being quiet only 5728 steps so far today !

Hello, all. I have been busy today--got to the gym, did some computer, sewed, got the papers caught up, worked on the counter and table, went to see Bob (yes, his dementia is worsening) and then sang with the Alzheimer's group. I really like that no one is complaining about what I do/don't do on Mondays. Hubby went to Costco to get the pumpkin pie for Thursday--and he got a chicken so we had that for supper--the wonderful leftover lasagna from the church dinner will be tomorrow's dinner--and the 2nd container will be frozen and eaten in Dec. The dinner was great--lots of people turned out and we had amazing food. Also a really good turnout for the service--between dinner and dessert! I hope we do another potluck in the late winter/early spring.

Yes, Terri--I saw a bit of the game and went to bed--it was painful. Not sure why the team didn't make it to CA in one piece but they didn't. Hope your trip home was uneventful and the layover wasn't too long but long enough for bags to make it!

Lindie--hope all went well today and you have enjoyed a nice meal!

Cathy--your short week is nice. Here the kids and teachers get out at 1:30--just a "half day". I will be getting decorations out this weekend--DD2 will be home so maybe we will do the tree. I will have help next week--younger practice grand will be around so maybe we'll decorate then.

Anne--you are a wonderful friend/helper to your priests! We have a home for retired priests near here--I'm sure they would LOVE you! I hope you had a good Sunday afternoon and a decent Monday.

Betsy--sounds very cute and the gift basket sounds wonderful! Throw in a dishtowel or two and you've got a winner! I don't think you are in the "snow zone" for this coming winter storm--DH's aunt lives in Eau Claire and she is! And my folks are supposed to drive to Wausau on Wed.--we'll see if they do. Hope the hunters don't get out where they shouldn't be. My brother has 2 deer--hopes to get 2 more.

Well--I am getting stuff done--slowly! Did get to talk to all the girls this weekend--doesn't always happen! I hope you all have had a good day--and will have a great tomorrow!

My friend Cindy texted to say the nurse gave Tim a 50/50 chance of making it to Thursday. I have PT right after work and then we’ll head over to be with Cindy and Tim if they want us. I may not get back here tonight.

Terri, safe travels---glad you are heading home and hope the trip to the airport is not too bad. Jacksonville has horrible rush hour traffic.
Betsy, too funny that you decided to keep that for yourselves---but it sounds absolutely adorable and would be something I would keep, too. The basket idea sounds very nice, too. Sorry your Dh has had a relapse with the bronchitis. Does he work 2 or 3 days this week? WE only work 2 days.
Anne, Did you do anything fun? I want to see Midway in the theater. No interest in the Mister Rogers movie and will wait for Harriet Tubman movie to come out on DVD.
Dianne, are you warming up for a few days, too? It will be good for Dh to put up more lights and rake more leaves.
Lindie, I like seeing the decorations early---LOL---but then I love all that stuff.
Didn't do anything yesterday except for running out to the store to get some applesauce for the yams I am making for the school Thanksgiving faculty luncheon. That is on the stove heating up but will transfer it to a crockpot to take. Hopefully it will be good---kind of tweaked another recipe to use what I had bought.
Teacher is going to be late again today---geez!

Terri, safe travels. I'm sure you're happy about the football game but Dianne and I are not, oh well!

Cathy, I did find something for the gift exchange or us, DH decided we would keep it. It's a wooden stand ( sort of totem pole style) and it has two cute little elves climbing it plus a small candy cane and a reindeer. Below the bottom elf is the small reindeer with a sign that says "Reindeer Crossing" and above that elf is a sign that says" Candy Cane Lane. You guessed it, that's where the candy cane is! At the top is a sign that says, "Santa's Workshop." The top sign has a little gift on it. the main colors are green and red and the elves have jingle bells on their hats, it is really cute so I am glad he wanted to keep it. It will be perfect with my Santas as they don't have enough helpers. emoticon The things that I wound up purchasing for us are actually going into the Christmas gift exchange but we will be buying more. A parent from DH's school started a company called Apron Ties and she makes mixes for drinks, main courses and desserts. We love her English muffin toasting bread so I bought more. She was smart and had samples out today so I bought mixes for focaccia herb bread, lemon loaf and more toasting bread. We are going to buy her meatball mix and her chicken wing rub to make a nice gift basket. Everybody has to eat, right? If you're interested in seeing what she has, go to ApronTiesKitchen.com. I am really glad we found someone local and something we won't mind getting ourselves.

Anne, Dianne and Lindie, I'll catch you tomorrow, I still have a lot to do here and I need to do my exercises yet. DH's bronchitis is coming back with a vengeance so I don't want him doing any more than he has to.

My laundry is done and folded. I just need to pack it into my suitcase and make sure I have everything gathered up and in one place before I go to bed. We'll be leaving by 6AM to make sure we have plenty of time to get back to Jacksonville.

I just had to pop on because Mom and her sisters are watching the SF 49ers beat the GB Packers and I was pretty sure that Dianne and Betsy might be watching too. They've been watching football all afternoon and I've been in my room, knitting and listening to my podcasts--everybody's happy.

It's a beautiful sunday morning, sun shining but cold wind - glad I am inside - the liquid diet is going well - I just had some jello for snack - then it will be chicken broth for lunch and more jello, in the meantime, I had 2 black coffees and had 2 glasses of apple juice, and now I will have a bottle of orange gateraid - I would be lying if I said this was satisfying, I am HUNGRY but know I can have food tomorrow LOL I am such a big baby LOL

Terri, I hope you enjoy the day, the visit, the ride and most important a good safe trip home, I know you want to be there and your prince will be there waiting for you. Will you also be attending the funeral service for the neighbour who paced away or was that at the other place ?

Dianne, you are getting lots done and got to enjoy your football - today is the Grey Cup in Canada -and both teams are hoping to end a long long drought - and Keith Urban is the half time entertainer - I won't be watching as I do not have cable and that is ok with me. Enjoy your potluck dinner tonight !

Anne thanks for explaining the arthritise situation - cold weather certainly affects mine as well and warm helps, like gloves - but I want to see improvement when I go glutten free after this examination - and I already have my cookbooks out and looking at recipes I can do. Enjoy your sunday afternoon !

Cathy I am not surprised that your decos are out and on lol There are a few apartment buildings around here who have theirs out and on too but we already had thanksgiving and vets day so it is not so early, but I can tell you the decos have been available in the stores since september - needless to say if I did do decos I would find that way too early ... to me they are just kicking themselves in the butt cause now they have to advance all the other stuff ... they are already advertising for black friday here and I am getting the emails on that for the few stores who do send emails all year round for their flyers. delete delete delete lol

Betsy hope the weekend is going well and you are having some enjoyable time as well.

Time to get my exercise done - have a good day all and talk to you sometime tomorrow !

Hi all!
Dianne, I do still help Fr. B. Once he is assigned and his things moved from the rectory I think that I will just be his friend, especially if he is not nearby. I have a small shredder, too. I use it for current shredding, but I have a lot of old stuff in the basement to dispose of.
Cathy, it sounds like you got quite a bit done yesterday. Hope you can accomplish what you plan for today.
We went to Mass yesterday, so J is sleeping in this morning. I just watched and deleted a couple of DVR'd NCIS shows. No plans yet. I would like to see a movie, but am not sure there is one out there that we both would like to see.
Have a good Sunday!

Morning! I am working on getting some gifts done, getting rid of some things and yes, prepping to decorate. I will have to this year--last year we didn't even put up the tree.

Terri--the set top box is the "thing" that lets the TV get the cable input. So now we have 2--plus a better digital video recorder or DVR. We'll see how long we keep the extra box. It was nice to watch the football games yesterday--hubby could see a difference, I could not. Your aunt sounds like my folks--lots of freezers and refrigerators!

Cathy--sounds like you kept busy. That front is up here, too--and it is colder and windy today. I am glad no one is traveling too far this Thanksgiving--the airports are going to be crazy with the bad weather in all areas.

Anne--we have a small shredder so tend to keep up with it. Glad you got rid of those boxes for Fr. B. You are STILL taking care of him!! The chili sounds good.

Lindie--hope Amigo is doing okay with his scratching.

Betsy--I know you are busy. I have one more grocery store trip--need onions!

Today is our potluck dinner at church--a Church Family Thanksgiving.

Thanks, everyone for the support on Dalton. She says he has a medical issue and doesn't know when he has to go----maybe he does but that doesn't mean that he can't be taught to clean himself like everyone has said.
Betsy, glad you had another day to do things and hope you do find something for the exchange today. Did you get to see Tim? What good training for Dela on those chores and nice to have help. I wish these parents would realize the importance of that. We know that Richi does help with chores at his house and he is bit of a clean freak---he often wipes down the top of his desk after lunch or a messy craft. I wish I could bring him home to dust and vacuum----LOL
Dianne, glad you have found things to do. Have you been cleaning and prepping for decorating before the girls get home for the holidays. Sorry but we put up some of our Christmas stuff up front and are already have them on timer---it's only one month until Christmas with Thanksgiving being so late this year.
Anne, I know my knee has been really protesting all the weather changes this week. I knew a front was coming thru yesterday when I was outside trying to help out some. I finally had to just go in and take meds and rest. Glad your hands were feeling better yesterday. Did you do anything fun this weekend?
Lindie, I used to have a cat that when I sat down to do homework, he would jump up on the desk and lay right down on my papers. So I am not surprised about Amigo doing that when you do those exercises. Smart to do them on that surface so that you can get up easier. I know I would hurt myself if I did them on the floor---just from getting up if I even could without help.
I did get to a couple of stores yesterday. I bought the Oreo Cookie house kit to do with Reagann on Wednesday. I bought craft kits for the kids at school and some stuff for our tree there. Also colorful candy canes to put on that, too. Also got a few things to put in their Christmas bags. Then I got the call that Michael was here so came home. Ashlie was here, too---they brought up all the outdoor stuff and put up a lot in the front and all the bins were taken to Dh's new shed for him to putter in there with things that he can put up on his own. After they left we had to go to Petsmart to get Raucous some food. After that we both crashed for a while before splitting up the hamburger we bought at Sam's club and I cooked dinner for us. We did go out and check out the lights after it got dark.
Not sure what we will get into today. I think we need to go to Acme to order our mince meat pie for Thursday. Not sure if I will cook or talk him into going out to eat---LOL

Dianne, I don't know what a top set box is. My kids always ran a little fever with teeth, too.

I might like a memorial planting, but I doubt that Aunt Anna will. It's not her style.

Everyone else is gone now. The two brothers of the deceased cousin have gone back to their homes in Georgia and Virginia; another cousin to California, and my brother to Washington state.

We've had a quiet morning, watching some tv and visiting. Then the conversation came around to how many appliances she has plugged in that add to her electric bill. Mom and other aunt had defrosted a chest freezer, an upright freezer, and cleaned out a spare refrigerator in the outside kitchen the other day, and Mom commented that the electric bill should go down now that they were defrosted. Then Aunt Anna mentioned that she had another chest freezer that could be emptied into a clean one so the sisters jumped up and went outside to tackle that one! It's going to go to one of her granddaughters now. I'm staying out of the way. I wish we didn't have two more days to wait for our return flight, but it IS good that the house wasn't suddenly empty and quiet. She has her sisters here to do what they do.

Betsy, this roomate situation may not last if K doesn't speak up for herself. The other girl needs to take responsibility for her animals and K could point out that the clawing and other misbehavior is precisely WHY an additional security deposit was required. K should make sure to keep her bedroom door closed to keep the cat out of there or she may be in for an unpleasant surprise! I'm glad you and J were able to enjoy a nice dinner to celebrate your survival.

Lindie, I hope you get enough rain to settle all the dust but not enough to cause problems. It looks as though we may get some rain too, but you never know in Florida.

The preschool in our town won't accept your child if they aren't toilet trained. I can't believe Cathy's student has gone this far in school if he isn't. As she said, it's not a matter of disability. There's no excuse for that.

I'm glad i brought my knitting along. I've finished the little dress for my new ggd, a sock I'd had started to complete a pair, and have started another pair. I can't sew, but i can still make some progress.

Hi all!
I really thought I would get on here yesterday, but nooo! I just haven't had any "me" time, other than going to bed, lol, and even that starts out shared!

Cathy, what a lazy Mom! Poor Dalton! Thank goodness the teacher and the VP agree that it is NOT YOUR JOBS to do what that Mom wanted! Sad that she won't let you do your jobs...field trips are part of them! Hope Michael comes by and gets some of that stuff up for you! What's going on with the Bay Bridge?

Betsy, nice that you celebrated DD2's job and move! I have a feeling she didn't realize how much of a homebody she is! Yes, the grass is always greener on the other side of the street. The reality of being on your own can be tough. Sure hope the little ones and you are well and not going to come down with anything, especially so close to Thanksgiving! I was about 12 when I "made butter" instead of whipped cream. Last night I made a balsamic vinegar sauce (for the lamb I cooked) that I feel was too watery...I'm going to look into another way to make it. I also made a recipe for chili that had dark beer in it. These were dinners for the Fathers...I hope the lamb one was good...they had to go out and weren't back before I left so it was a re-heat meal. The chili was for the weekend...I tasted that and wanted to bring some home with me, lol! Don't need the fire department for it, but the garden hose should be hooked up and ready...I wonder if the spiciness will tone down overnight. Hope they enjoyed it!

Dianne, it sounds like Bob's dementia is starting to increase quite a bit. You are very good to continue to visit with him. Did you know him prior to volunteering at the home? I hope your hips are doing better and that exercise will help. I am grateful that I did stop and see the doctor and then followed through with the replacement. I would do it again, too!

Terri, I am sure you and the rest of the family are glad the memorial service is over, but it is going to be a long time for the pain to numb! The circumstances are too intense. I do like the memorial garden idea; if the right plants/shrubs are chosen the area will hold beauty over death.

Lindie, the book sounds very informative. I have osteoarthritis in a number of joints. Since the weather has been very raw and damp this fall, the joints have been reminding me of this fact. Others I know with arthritis are experiencing similar effects from the weather. Today it is brisk out, but dry and sunny and my hands feel so much better than they had yesterday when it was raw and wet. Cats nails are sharp! I hope Amigo only uses the cat tree for them and not your furniture.

I finally got rid of the shredding that Fr. B had asked me to do back in April! Originally I was holding off because Fr. J had intended to add to the boxes. When I was tired of seeing the boxes in the hallway I closed them up and put them in the laundry room...last week I got tired of them there and put them in my car, then put all of it into one extra large box. It cost $20 to get the box shredded...well worth it...it was probably could have filled 4-5 boxes that 10 reams of paper come in! I am going to attack my basement papers and bring them over to the shredding place...it is about a 15-20 minute drive...however, finding the time and energy to get those papers into boxes that I can easily lift...that's a horse of a different color!
After I clean up my desk here at the gas station I will see what the rest of the weekend brings...no plans set yet!

Have a good rest of the day!

Anne

Morning! Guess I missed getting here yesterday--things have been good busy. Today is the big craft fair at the middle school--the one and only fundraiser for the year. I am not going--didn't find anyone to go with me and I wouldn't take DH--right, Betsy? anyway, I don't need any of that for gifts so won't go. Doing laundry--and need to do other cleaning as well. I did get to the step aerobics class this AM--that was a good workout.

Terri--prayers for your family. A nice memorial garden is a good idea but it may be hard for her to have that as well. Glad Steve is DONE--I know you have saved the money. He'll manage till you get there. So sorry about your neighbor lady.

Cathy--your parents seem to be a problem for those kids. I hate seeing someone NOT challenged to work at ability--and this mom has done that to her son. Good luck dealing with it! There are houses here all decked out in Christmas lights--okay but don't turn it on yet!

Anne--hi!

Lindie--hope the strike doesn't happen but who knows. I need to do your clam exercises. I enjoyed the stretching after my class today.

Betsy--I wonder if the baby is teething--because my kids always had a low grade fever with teeth--and the pediatrician never agreed! I hope DD2 can settle into the apartment--I know my DD3 is the messy one but she did figure out how to NOT make her roommate nuts. Hope your weekend goes well!

We have a pot luck dinner at church tomorrow--I am doing baked beans and brownies. Hubby has been upgrading our cell phones to unlimited data--I'll be able to listen to podcasts now in the car. We are also getting another set top box for the computer room--our antenna won't get Channel 7 for some reason so now I will be able to see it. Not happy with the $$ but he wanted it so...

Off to move laundry! Later!

Good morning everyone, chance of snow in the air for SOUTHERN BC but not me, I just get plain old rain, fine by me, no shovelling rain LOL

Cathy that is a beautiful suggestion for Terri's Aunt.It will be a while before that memory fades, even though she is a nurse and has delt with death all her career, this one was more personal, and no doubt hurts the most. How are the decos coming, have you found them and a home for them as you like ? WHAT is that mother NUTS, your an education provider not a health care worker, sheesh ... glad the teacher said NO ... bad enough you have to look to make sure he wiped properly, that's his mom's job not yours. No matter how much education a person can have, a person can still have stupid duh moments !! and I do not mean blonde moments, that's different LOL

Betsy, I have to agree with Cathy about the room mate - there needs to be some houserules, or an agreement for at least keeping the common areas clean and especially the bathroom - oh my ! I hope that room mate is cleaning the cat litter every day too - it should be done regular - daily - cat's wont' use a dirty litter and then they will go anywhere . Those claws shoudl be clipped, just the tips need to be done, most vets will do it and I know here, when I had Kartmen done, the money paid went to the SPCA so maybe find a program like that. We have to watch Amigo - Gene is not ready to get his clipped but if he keeps gouging the furniture with them, then they will be done - also Amigo has his cat tree where he can sharpen his claws, all cats need somewhere. Oh my - hope you get a good soup to have with the salaed. Too funny about Dela's comment, I would say OH NO lol I am always telling Gene about his expired stuff in the fridge LOL

Dianne, hope all is well with you - did you visit Bob, how is he doing, how was the singing the other day, did the change up of songs go ok? Are the girls there yet ?

Anne, I was thinking of you saying that your hands hurt, is this arthritise? I have that in my hands now, but I talked to people who have severe arthritise and they say they do not eat grains as this intensifies the pain, so maybe see if you can do without grains and see if that helps? I am going to change up my diet when I am done with my procedure and go back to the meals in the WheatBelly Cookbook - I have a great recipe for a glutten free, nut flour which is all purpose and recipies as well from that book.

Terri, I hope all is well and that when you head home tomorrow there are no delays and you can get home with your family. l am sure this was difficult for you to be there without your prince to lean on - glad his job is winding down and he can be yours again !!

The past 2 days I have been doing floor exercises on the fold out couch - its low enough and firm enough to do bridges and clams but the CAT wants to help and gets in the way LOL

Cathy, I don't even wipe the butt of a four year old, that's nuts! Yes, sending pictures is extremely helpful! Silly me, I thought the craft show was today but it is tomorrow, that works out MUCH better for us. DH's sister called and said her church is selling holiday breads as well as soups and pies and they have a table with reasonably priced Christmas items from 8-12 this morning. We have leftover salad from Thursday night so we will purchase some soup and that will be our supper for tonight. It is wonderful not to have to plan a dinner, I think the planning is far worse than the cooking! Since we never celebrated DD2 getting her new job or moving out, I surprised her and said I would order in for her. She chose sushi and she enjoyed that while watching a PBS show called Grantchester on Netflix. Trust me, that will not become a habit.
I don't think it's working out that well either but when I mention that to her she says it's OK and she's just getting used to it. Time will tell. Mia got no diagnosis from the doctor and was told to come back on Monday if the fever isn't gone or if it returns, so frustrating when there's no real diagnosis but better that she doesn't have something awful like RSV. We will try to see Tim again today and if we can't, I am going to see if Cindy can step outside long enough for us to give her a hug. I love your idea about a Memorial garden for the crime scene in Florida. Going back to Dalton and your teacher, hurray that she is finally doing something positive and with conviction! How sad that Dalton's mother would rather he stay with lower functioning students and miss out on educational field trips, what's wrong with people?

After we buy the soup at the church we may stop at the winter farmers market and then we have to whip this house into shape. Dela actually did some of it with me yesterday and that was really fun. She WANTED to do "real chores" so she dusted, folded towels and cleaned the bathroom! Of course I helped her but she did a great job. I will leave you with a funny story about what she said yesterday. I shook a tiny container of jellybeans and asked her if she knew what they were. She did not. I gave her the hint that they were from last Easter and asked her again if she knew what they were. Without batting an eye, she promptly replied, "expired!" emoticon I will miss her so much next year. She didn't want to leave when her dad came to pick her up so I know she had a good day.

Have a super Saturday!

Betsy, sorry that it wasn't a good time to visit Tim and glad that you texted to make sure. That is a sad situation there. Glad you had less children than expected and hope none of them catch or pass on anything unless it means that you have an easier week next week. LOL to your Dh not wanting to go to that Craft Show---isn't it nice that we can send pictures to verify something that we are going to purchase? HOpe you don't come down with anything. So if you had dinner out, how did dd2 save any money last night? LOL It doesn't sound like it is working out too well---maybe she needs to have a conversation and set up a cleaning schedule with her roommate so that they both share in keeping it neater.
Terri, maybe she could make that a memorial type garden with a lovely statue and pretty flowers to take away seeing his laying there. I can understand her wanting to stay but also dreading it. As much as I would have liked to have my mom at home with me, I really didn't want her to die here either.
OMG, Dalton's mom sent an email saying she wanted us to wipe her son's butt at least 2 times a day---now this boy is not handicapped physically and is 11 years old. There is no way either one of us are going to touch his private areas and then be accused of something. The teacher went over to the vp and talked it over with him and he said absolutely no to us doing that so we have back up on this. The teacher made him wipe his own butt and made him bend over to visually check and made him wipe more. So he can do it, he has just been babied way too much. He is not mentally challenged that he cannot follow directions----I have talked to a teacher that has known him in the school section all his time in school and she has said that the mom was too lazy to potty train him---and she is well educated and financially secure so she really is quite capable of teaching her son---just doesn't want to take the time is what we are figuring out. Then she also said she didn't want him going out in the general public with our field trips to stores----like is she embarassed to have him out in public? We only have 4 students and 2 adults and I can tell you that he will be watched like a hawk when we go out---much more than the other children will need. The teacher told her if she didn't want him to go he will just be left behind with the very low kids and miss out on the educational opportunities and that we were not going to change our plans. At least the teacher sticks to her guns on these kind of issues.
Had a nice time at church dinner and meeting yesterday---always nice not to have to figure out what to fix for dinner. I did get a dreaded chore done before we went, too.
I think Michael is coming over today to bring up Christmas stuff for outside so hoping they get some things up out front. I hope to also do some shopping but we will see how it goes with the Christmas stuff.

Terri, I would also have to move. I am so sorry your family is going through this tragedy but so happy that you are there to support one another.

We were told to visit Tim "any time" on Wednesday of this week. As you know, our schedules only allow evening and weekend visits so we texted that we would come on Friday evening. I said I would text first but was told it wasn't necessary. I texted anyway this evening to see if it was OK and received this back, "Tonight is not a good night for visiting." I responded with hugs and love to all and said we would check in tomorrow but I am very worried.

On a happier front, we indulged at a nice restaurant with a restaurant.com coupon. We had to spend $50 and we got $25 worth of food and drinks for free. We had steaks, drinks and dessert and that was enough to cover the required expenditure of 75 to remove the 25. We celebrated our anniversary ( late and without our children,) the end ( hopefully) of mishaps to our house and the end of the eye drops. 25 more days until the retina surgery!

Betsy, Spark must think I'm in California because it was nearly midnight when I posted. We're all dressed and getting ready to leave soon. I'm glad we're together, but will be even happier to have this day behind us. My aunt keeps pausing at the dining room window to stare out into the back yard. She says she still "sees" him laying where where she'd found him that morning. UGH--I think I might have to move, but she won't.

Cathy, even if the professionals are guessing at Joy's condition, at least she can go home with family. There seem to be a lot of bronchial issues in the air this year. What is causing all the congestion on the bridge? Road construction? Our road construction is on a much smaller scale since we are a smaller town but it is still a huge project and has been going on for years. DD2 moved right next to it and she can't even turn into her own driveway until she goes up to a place where she can turn and then drive back there. She is actually saving money by being here in the evening because we feed her supper. She is taking baby steps and that's ok. We really want to get another bed for her room here but we are holding off because hers at her new place is more comfortable. Her roommate has an ill behaved cat with claws and that is another issue. That said, she does like her room, even if it is small, and it is the cleanest place in the apartment.
I had to laugh at your discarding catalogs to avoid clutter because I have a pile to go through as well but I have been trying to keep up with unwanted mail in envelopes. I got to bed later than I wanted last night because I was doing just that.

Terri, I am so sorry to hear about your neighbor lady. You and Steve were very kind to look after her. Does Spark think you are at home so it was really two hours later than your time stamp? Time adjustments sure are hard on the human body!

Miss Mia woke up with a low grade fever on Monday so she wasn't here on Tuesday or Wednesday but she was here yesterday. This morning when she woke up, the fever had returned and spiked so she will not be here again today. I hope she didn't pass whatever it is to everyone else. She didn't have a fever yesterday but she did sleep a lot and wasn't interested in her solid food. Michael was supposed to be here today but his five year old brother is having a five hour MRI today and they couldn't guarantee a pick up time so he will be going to his grandparents. I have gone from dreading a full house upstairs to a more manageable day, phew! We will visit Tim and Cindy after work and then DH and I are going out for dinner to celebrate making it through these last few weeks. We are also celebrating the last cataract surgery eye drop. I am not sure where we are going yet but it will be somewhere that we can use a good coupon or a gift card. I found one for $50 that I thought we had used already! if anyone has read the American Girl books, specifically the Molly series, you'll understand my next sentence very well. DH gave me the "Gladys Gilford Glacial Glare" when I suggested he come to the huge craft fair with me tomorrow. emoticon I think we have decided he will stay and work here while I peruse the crafts for a Christmas exchange gift in the suggested range. If I see something, I will snap a photo with my phone and send it to him for approval. We had very different opinions on what would be good last year so I don't want to get something he doesn't like. It is possible we could end up with it so we need to like it.

Have a fabulous Friday!

Dianne, what a bummer that they didn't let you know---they deserved to have to pay the 2 of you---it was their own fault. Nothing really that you can do for Bob except for to be a friend--he is his own worse enemy at this point. Hope you enjoy your practice grands. We are stealing Reagann for the day on Wed. I have seen there is a kit for an Oreo House---like a gingerbread house---so I am thinking I will go get that and see if she wants to make that together. My hip often doesn't like when I sit too long, but it also doesn't like it when I stand in one position too long either---that is when it will really lock up on me.
Betsy, glad it will only be for a short time. I don't know how you do it---LOL My first 2 were so close together that it often felt like I had twins. LOL to her spending most of her time at home but maybe you should be reminding her that it is her own money she is wasting. Glad the car can be fixed---deer cause an awful lot of damage--you know I would love an orange car but I am kind of fascinated with the brown ones I am seeing a lot of lately. I forgot to post that one of those drops burned my eye, too---when I told the eye doctor he okayed for me to stop that one a bit early.
Lindie, yes, we are wonderfully made and often cause our own problems with messing with nature. Sure hope they get some good news on that strike but it seems like up there, if they talk it they do it.
Terri, what good news that Steve is now going to be done at that job, esp. with the holidays coming up. Are you going to be able to finish up your Christmas gifts this year?
I did call Joy last night---she is doing much better and they do plan to send her home tomorrow---if no problems overnight. Her daughter wants her to spend her first night at her house and then go home with her grandson going to stay there with her for a couple of days. I am so glad it wasn't horrible news--they think it is a reoccuring bronchial infection---which just sounds like they really don't know what is going on---LOL. She does have a horrible cough.
Boy, it is bad up by the Bay Bridge---traffic was backed up even though it was not even near any rush hour traffic time. And they had blocked off the lanes that are not open but lead to the exits going up that way---and we had to go to the last exit before the bridge so had to get in the creeping traffic---felt bad to butt in, it wasn't that I was trying to get to the bridge ahead of others. I cannot imagine living up there and having to deal with all these issues for the next 2 or 3 years---and can see that some businesses are really going to suffer from this snafu. As much as I would prefer to go that way when traveling, I won't be doing that for the next few years and sure hope we don't have to go see any doctors on the other side of the bridge that I know certain people have to do.
I sure was tired when I got home----the only thing I did get done was look thru the 2 catalogs and 2 magazines that came in and add them to a discard pile---but at least I did not add to the clutter I need to clean up.
Yes, the socks are part of her laundry but it is good matching activity--that part I totally agree with ---I tried to teach Jeremiah how to roll up socks and he was absolutely helpless doing this---so sad that they can't get simply activities. I see that as a task we will have to take up by giving him 2 socks and making him learn to ball them up if he wants tablet time---bet he will learn real quick if that is the case---LOL Maybe make so many matches for Dalton to be able to go to adaptive gym, too. Our girl was there yesterday and she was pretty good about matching and telling Dalton that he didn't have a match----LOL
TGIF!

It's late and I should be asleep, but I'm still on California time. The service will be at 11 am tomorrow and a large gathering here at the farm afterward. Most of the west coast family will be leaving on Saturday, but we'll be staying through the weekend. I wish I were going home sooner, but it was not to be.

Steve had good news for me yesterday, though. He said they're "pulling the plug " on his job, so Saturday will be his lasy work day. Hell go back with our SIL to help pull the 5th wheel back on Monday and then he's all mine!

Thank you all for the comforting words, friendship and prayers. It's been a rough week and i just learned today that our neighbor lady passed away yesterday. She's the widow we looked after and she died on a day when we were both out of town. She was about 85, I think.

Dianne, no cancellation for work? emoticon That's absurd and unforgivable! I am glad you are making some headway in your house. I chose completing five things on a "to do" list as my new habit for the "living the good life" challenge this week and it has really helped. emoticon You mentioned tiles so I take it Bob dropped a Scrabble game? Depression is rough in or out of a room but it's great that you keep trying with Bob.

Cathy, it is not ok to have three bambinos here either but since it is only temporary, it will be ok. Also, the current babies will be five months older so one will definitely be walking and the other one will be close.
They do give emergency licenses for certain circumstances. I am so sorry to hear about Joy. Please send her my love. She has really had a rough life, poor dear. I will keep her in prayer.
It was really nice that you were able to take a half day to help a friend, I sure hope the teacher didn't give you any grief for it! If she did, all you would have to do is hold a mirror to her face. Sorry, I just can't believe she still has a job! I love sock fights and you're right, that was a great lesson and covered multiple areas too. I agree on the almost Friday, it has been a long week.

Anne, is a "So Clean" machine an air filter? That's too funny about making your whipping cream into butter, especially with all the cooking you do now. We had "new conversation" at a breakfast after Mass as well...in the church basement...with our Little Brother and another couple we know that we haven't seen in a very long time. I am never a "communion runner" but I was that day because I had to pick JB up form his home and get him back to church in time to eat. You can imagine how mortified I was when my DH announced that I had left early to our priest! He got a little talking to once we got home.
Are you getting excited about your trip?

Lindie, I hope the strike doesn't come to fruition. I know our DS would be lost without public transportation and I can imagine the disruption it would cause up there as well. thanks for sharing the book info. I used to use soap in that area without a problem but as I have aged, soap throws off the ph balance and makes me uncomfortable so now it is just water and my "self cleaning" oven.

Terri, prayers continue for your family.

Here are the general notes I didn't share yesterday:

Yes, we will get no mold drywall/sheetrock ( that's what we call it here)
Yes, 91/2 hours is a long time to keep our Little Brother but we owed him and we balanced work and play time.
I found a recipe in a magazine at PT for chocolate amaretto pie that I am considering as an addition to our pumpkin and apple pies for the upcoming feast but all I can think of is The Help and it is holding me back.
I am trying to put together a team for something my PT place is sponsoring titled, "Community Weight Race." It would run for 14 weeks and the expectation is to lose seven percent of your body weight or if you are really adventurous, ten percent. Dianne, I know you would do it with me if you were here. There are also opportunities for prizes through donations to those in need so a person in maintenance could also participate.
Yes, DD2 has moved out but it doesn't seem like it at night (except for sleeping) because she is always here! She was sent home from work today because she was too sick to be around the babies. She saw the doctor and was diagnosed with an acute sinus infection. They prescribed the Z pack and told her not to go back to work this week. I will share more on her apartment experience at another time but suffice it to say they could be called The Odd Couple. DD2 is the neat one!
We got the approval for the Outback to be fixed and we are SO glad we are only responsible for $250 because the estimate came in at $7,030! The shop also has an orange Outback that hit a deer and they thought that was the one I meant when I called to give approval! I am so glad they double checked. Once again, I thought of Cathy...and I also thought I have never seen an orange Subaru. We are a bit nervous about this mechanic because he just bought the shop two weeks ago but he did learn from his father at his auto body shop so that's encouraging.
Sadly, our friend Tim is slipping quickly and is sometimes unable to express his needs. We are going to visit tomorrow evening. If he is still accepting visitors when DD2 is feeling better, we'll take her over there. She said that would be hard but I told her to put herself in his place and she agreed she should go. After all, their family has been in her life since she was a year old! I also think his wife would really appreciate a hug from Miss K. I am almost more worried about Cindy than I am about Tim, it is SO hard to be the caregiver. We know what his outcome we'll be but she has a long road ahead without him.

I am going to see what I can make for dinner. My plan was a big salad with lettuce, rotisserie chicken, cheese, carrots and hard boiled eggs but I think DH might prefer something hot.

Good morning Friends, I just made my first batch of rice crispy squares - for snacking next couple of days as I can't have nuts, seeds, blue berries, other seeded fruits, sigh - but I am learning with this medical experience and will be fine. I will weigh myself before the gunk drink and after to see just how much weight I was holding onto lol - I know my bad eh !! The bus strike will be next wed, thurs, frid - and while I don't need the bus so to speak for those days, others will and it will create kaos on the roads especially for Gene for wed, thurs and he drives for a living and dispatch expects him to magically appear at next call instantaneously - but he will handle it, plus he will have to take his car to work, pay an absorbant amount for parking.... I on the other hand will just walk to where I need to go ...

Betsy, glad things are slowing down for you - I did learn a lot from the Vagina Bible that I did not know - my mother taught me nothing and what I learnt was from experience and mistakes, however, through out the book, I just could not help but be amazed about how wonderfully made we are as humans. The author repeats that we evolved but I know better. Here's a couple of things I never knew, perhaps you already do ? 1. The vagina is like a self cleaning oven, it does not need cleaning medically and the cleansing would not get up there properly. 2. If you want to clean then a ph 5.5 - 5.7 should be used so that the cleaning does not interfer with the self cleaning - which was built into that part of the body. 3. shaving is not mediacally required - they used to shave for births but changed their mind on that as the pubic hairs serve their purpose. 4. There is suppose to be a discharge and odor, that's the self cleaning at work. 5. steaming does not cleanse the uteris, it can't get up there ! ( some celebraties suggest this and claim it cleans their uterise )5. The terms "dermatologist tested" and "Gyno Tested" are marketing ploys to convince you, you need this product and it will remove odour - well she could not find any studies on that. She does have a sense of humour, and is contantly male bashing without mentioning males directly - she refers to patriarical - also when she talks about cleaning - she says if you have been doing this and you suffer no ill effects from it, then continue, as if its not broken, dont' fix it. I personally wash every day, I am just now reading about dryness and menopause so if I learn anything I may post it here. The gyno's name is Dr Jen Gunter, practises in Southern California, and is from Winnipeg Manitoba Canada so I totally get her humor such as you don't need to wear cotton underwear to let your privates breath, they don't have lungs !! She is also the gyno for Yahooo... I am still learning !!

Dianne, I find when my hips flexors want to lock up on me, that the clam exercise really helps loose them up , and another one which is a stretch exercise. Glad you are DONE with that site, they do not appreciate you and your abilities, I know you are good teacher, you taught me about butterflies, I just dont' remember it all !! But I claim it to be "oldtimers" lol - I am not surprised that Bob is depressed, without realising it, he's become his own worst enemy and it is hard to get someone out of that realm. Just keep trying and let him know by small actions that he is loved and cared for. Sometimes we have mixed conceptions of what love should be and its usually selfish but we dont' see it ... HOpe your day goes well today.

Terri, I hope all is well at the farm in Florida, I know you are being a huge support there, and will get support yourself when you get home. Safe travels when you head home.

Cathy, a sock snowball fight is probubly safer then a real snowball fight as sticks and stones can creep in when swooping up snow ... I hope Dalton found some enjoyment on being dumped on lol

OH NO to JOY I hope all turns out well for her and you are right, the masks are to protect HER not the others as people can bring in germs that would complicate. Hopefully they find out what was causing the jump in white blood cells.

So nice of you to drive your friend to where she has to go. Balance issues are a tough one, its hard to prove it happened from a work place incident and not a form of degerative condition that is inherited. I hope this all works out well for her as well.

I had to laugh at your half task, I have to do that from time to time too and looking at mine, its due AGAIN !!!

Anne, glad you came up for air and good to hear from you. Do you go out often for breakfast after mass ? I can see how time is going fast for you now that you will soon be in travel mode !! Wishing you good traveling too - will you take your kobo reader ( I think you said you had one ) with you to read ? Sometimes I dont' mind delays after a flight as it allows me to stretch.

Well I better get going, laundry done, put away, need to clean out my closet and organize, no room to breath in there ( yes I know it does not have lungs, bwahahahahaha ) plus i have my exercises to get done and its cold but sunny so I see a walk in there too !

Oh--and my hips is a bit better today. I can't sit too long or it gets tight. I did a pool class this AM and that helped.

Morning! Yesterday was a long day--last day at the park so drove up with my friend--and then THE SCHOOL HAD CANCELED, TOLD ONE GUY LAST WEEK AND HE DIDN'T FOLLOW UP! So no kids and we still sat there to collect our $$. They are crying "no budget" but they wasted it by not checking. That place is SO DONE in my opinion! Anyway, we went from the park to another program on food--that started at 4:15 and we thought it was 4:00 so we were ready but couldn't start so early. Got home after 6, changed and went to the wake for the neighbor that passed away--her husband was just looking so lost. 46 years....

I am knocking things off my list--slowly--and adding more but I am making some progress. Yesterday was sunny--that helps me keep moving.

Betsy--glad the drops are about done (till after the surgery), the basement is drying and you are keeping busy!

Cathy--sorry about your friend--hope the lawyer helps. DD2 was lucky that her workman's comp did cover things for her. The sock fight sounds like fun but was that her laundry that they were sorting? LOL

Anne--that idea of asking for Christmas things isn't a bad one--you may get someone like me that has too much and wants to send it to a good home! Glad you had a nice breakfast--I don't like the crowds on Sundays.

Lindie--oh, my with no buses that city will be a mess!! I hope Gene stays home! Good luck with your procedure.

Terri--glad you made it safely. Just be there with hugs and all. Will keep your family in my prayers.

So--today I get the girls--not sure if I'll get to Bob's but I did stop and do one game with him on Tuesday. He had dropped the box so had found all but one of the tiles--and I found that one. He is so depressed but I can't get him out of his room. I do let his daughter know what is going on. Have a good Thursday!!

Terri, glad so many are able to come be a support for that family. Hugs all around for them.
Betsy, good catching up. Oh, my to 3 babies at the same time. Is that allowed? I think there is a limit of 2 under a certain age at an in-home daycare here which makes sense as it is hard to take care of that many plus other children. I don't know how you do it. Too funny about orange---give her a hug from me on that one. One time should be enough to show her how to work her own washing machine---write the instructions out for her and tape it to some area by the machine. I did that for Michael and Howard when I started going away for longer periods to Joy's house.
Lindie, glad Gene is going to be able to take you and bring you home from the procedure. Yikes to that strike. I know how much you depend on that system to get around the city plus it is the busiest season for shopping and people won't be able to do that much if there is that strike.
Anne, glad you thought about the bigger kitchen if you need to use it. Hope the plumber can get there. Sometimes the clog is so far down that it can't be reached by homeowner style stuff to use on it. We ended up having to replace a section of pipe when that happened but we had galvanized pipe that eventually builds up so much that it really did need to be replaced. Glad you had some new conversation when you went out---LOL
I got bad news yesterday----Joy is in the hospital---her white count is very high and they have her hooked up to all sorts of monitors---I can tell she is really scared---they are now requiring everyone to wear masks when they come in---I told her that was probably for her protection as I am sure her immune system is not very good right now. She was worried that she was the one that was contagious. I hope to find out more today.
Yesterday the teacher brought in a big basket of unmatched socks for the kids to sort---which actually was a good task for them. Richi did a wonderful job---you could tell that he does this at home. The other 2 boys don't do chores---boy, could you tell that. And Dalton drove me crazy---I told him to find me socks with any pink in them----he's going thru the pile and not even seeing the pink in a lot of socks---mostly because he just cannot focus and is very lazy. After we were done, I started throwing socks at them---like a snow ball fight---Richi got it and started throwing the ones I threw at him---Dalton complaining---once they were all done, they had to pick them up--Dalton still complaining---I had half a basket of socks by then so I just dumped the whole thing on him----LOL I can see that he won't be any fun when we have a snowball fight next month.
I will be taking half a day off today to help out a friend at work. She fell last year from wet floor at school and now workman comp is saying they won't pay for anymore therapy so she needs to go visit her lawyer up near the bay bridge---and with her balance issues from the fall she can't drive that far by herself---so I am taking her. We both worked at Parkside together so we have known each other for a while.
I did get half a task done---cleaned off part of my desk---actually the worst part===nice to have clear space beside me while on the computer.
Glad it is almost Friday day----LOL
