A little late on this but everyone did a GREAT job!!! It seems obvious that we would all do better with shorter challenges since no one tracked for Week 4. As for winners, see below.

Week 1 - Lulu was tops with 2430, Net at 1640, and SBalliet at 1500.
Week 2 - Lulu was tops at 2801, Net at 2040, and SBalliet at 1280.
Week 3 - Lulu again tops at 2460, with SBalliet at 1950.

Month of April - Lulu on top with 7691 minutes!! WOW

Goodies will be given to all above. emoticon

The rest of us, Country Gal, StuckeyB, StephP331, Karen and KAI2LE4 all participated and got several hundred minutes in each week. emoticon
Goodies given for participation!

We'll do it again soon!

Sorry for the confusion. I was just trying to mix it up a bit. Yes I enjoy being outside and I would define fun as being outside when I choose to. That would include walking, hiking, and gardening. When I am outside at work, it was not my choice. When running errands, I was outside to get from car to store, not a choice to be outside.

Does that help?

I consider it fun too hiking and walking and working in the garden. Karen is the one that defined fun not me. I agree with you to me working in the yard/ planting is fun. I guess Karen wanted to do something different for this week. That is why she put for us to put in only fun time. Netpassion asked her what is considered Fun and Karen wrote what she thought was fun. Anytime I'm outdooors is fun because I love being outside. Good night and pleasant dreams. Keep having fun outdoors and enjoy nature. It's the best thing in the world.

Week 3 4/18 - 4/24

Sunday 4/18 - 420 mins (300 mins of fun since they are not counting walking as fun. I think my neighbors I walk with would disagreee. We always talk and laugh when we walk the trails).
Monday 4/19 - 200 mins of fun outdoors
Tuesday 4/20 - Sorry counting my bike ride with my great nephew after school as fun. Since I didn't add that to my exercise mins. We rode the bikes to the park. I read a book and he went up and down a hill on his bike. Ate out in the patio for lunch with a friend. 280 mins of fun outdoors.
Wednesday 4/21 - 240 mins of outdoor fun!
Thursday 4/22 - 120 mins
Friday 4/23 - 60 mins
Saturday 4/24 - 60 mins

Week 3 Total = If people are including their walking/hiking, working in the garden/yard/lawn work. Then it was 2460 mins = 41 hrs Total

If only "fun time" as defined by Karen then it was 1260 mins =21 hours of fun since Karen said only fun time outside. Which would exclude our yard work/lawn work, walking, hiking, etc.

I define FUN as not work, not something you have to do. I won't count walking around the job site (even though I enjoy being outside) or back and forth to stores, garbage can, etc. I will count walking the dog even if sometimes its not the most fun. LOL

Define FUN..............
If I am outdoors it is fun, even mowing the grass or just sitting on the porch. How to classify fun????

Week #3

Sun.04/18--180 minutes

Questionable now..............
Mon.04/19--45 min.walking, 20 min. on the deck
Tue.04/20--120 min. walking & talking on the phone
Wed.04/21--30 min. taking photos of flowers
Thu.04/22--90 min. visiting neighbors, 60 gardening
Fri.04/23--20 minutes walking before it rained
Sat.04/24--0 minutes-tornadoes flying around.

Week #3 total= 445 minutes or 7 hours & 25 minutes.

As for week #4, count me out. An elderly Aunt passed away, funeral Tuesday, Family in from out of state in mourning. Tornadoes wrecked the nearest town. The body count keeps growing. No FUN time this upcoming week :(

Great job LULU and NET!!!! Thanks Monique for wrapping up Week 1. Everyone should be counting for Week 2. Remember - just being outside in the sun, rain, or moonlight! It doesn't matter what you are doing. Once you are there, activity will just follow naturally. The 2nd half of the month we might mix it up a little and count what you are doing outside. Info to follow.

Of course an outside easter egg hunt counts! This challenge is just for being outside. The hope is once you are outside, you will automatically get some activity in. Keep count of your minutes outside, even if you are sitting on the deck in the shade!!!

I haven't done too much outside this week. I get home about 7pm .. time to get dinner started... Hmm I think I'll buy a pair of slip on sneakers and walk one mile during my lunch break at work :) each day. I can do more on the weekends.

Planning on gardening this weekend and hoping to get a hike in and walk one of the dogs.

sorry for any misunderstanding of the official start date - guess I got excited about tracking...oops - you're correct that this challenge starts on 4/4.
I'll put a report once a week on Sundays on my updates so this thread doesn't get too long to read.

Lulu, looks like you have it handled. We just will include time from 4/4 on. It seems to be better to start challenges on Sunday, the beginning of the week for Spark. Thanks for the reminder.

Karen make sure you let everyone know that the challenge started Sunday April 4th. Looks like people are putting in hours for April 1st-4th. If we are doing that then here are my hours for those days too.
4/1 = Walked 45 mins on trails. Worked in yard 2.25 hrs That would be 3 hrs = 180mins
4/2 = Walked on trails = 45 mins Spend 2 hours and 20 mins at the park with my great nephew and niece.
4/3 = Walked on trails =45 mins

That would be 6 hrs and 50 mins = 410 mins for days Thurs - Sat.

Biggest Outdoorser

Week 1

Sunday 4/4 Spend most of the day outdoors with family. Mass outside the church, egg hunt with the kids, ate outside in the Gazebo in the backyard, went walking on the trails after eating. It was a great start for the week and enjoyed being outdoors.
7.5 hours outdoors today = 450 mins

Monday 4/5 = 6.5 hours = 390 mins

Tuesday 4/6 = 5.25 hours = 315 mins

Wednesday 4/7 = 3.25 hours = 195 mins It rained on and off all day today. Otherwise would have spend more time outdoors.

Thursday 4/8 Only spend 2.5 hours outside today. Weather has changed and it's gotten chilly outside. Hope it does get warm for the weekend. Have a kid's birthday party that is suppose to be outside at the park. Hope they can get one of those shelters just in case. Today = 150 mins

Friday 4/9 Ms.Spring came back today with Ms.Sunshine
Spend time in the yard earlier today and late afternoon went bike riding. That was only suppose to be a 1 hour bike ride with some friends turned into 3 hours. Total hours spend outside today= 5.25 hrs
= 315 mins

Saturday 4/10 Walked outside in am 2 hrs, yard work 1.5 hrs and at park for birthday party running around with all the kids with their games 7 hrs = 10.5 hrs = 630 min

Total Week 1 = 40 hrs and 30 mins

I'm also ready to be active outside more consistently, so count me in on the challenge!
The tulips and daffodils are popping up out of the ground here (NE), so it's time for spring activities!

I accept your challenge. I am in training for a 34 mile one day hike in June so I need to get out there all the time.

I accept the 'challenge' for April! Bring it on. I've been ready and walking outdoors whenever the weather has permitted. I think winter is finally out of here and Spring will be around for awhile now! emoticon
