Just dropping in to say hello and tell everyone that I hope each member of every team is feeling the love and support from their team mates this summer. I am thankful every day that I am a part of these challenges and I am so proud to be a Lovely Lime. The challenges really help to keep me focussed and to bring me back to the journey when I start to forget why I'm here.

Thanks to everyone who takes the time to organize and lead! I am grateful for all your hard work!

I had the same issue when I did my no-processed-foods day; not enough protein. I definitely thought bread and cheese were processed; I pretty much ate just produce. I'd already done my day by the time I found out the rules were much less stringent than my own definition.

Tangerine Granita sounds good to me! Anything 'slushy' in this hot weather is lovely! Thanks for the explanations on processed foods. I've always wondered and this is the first time I actually tried a no processed foods day. It wasn't too bad, but I don't think I got enough protein in. The peanut butter would have helped:)

Hi, everyone. Have a marvelous Monday.

Soo-Zen. that sounds like the perfect double hit for a Tangerine Team member. emoticon

Please go go with Ruth-Ann's and Cathy's definitions of processed foods. Do not stress out over this Bingo box. The idea is to get us thinking about what we eat.

I tried Tangerine Granita...I used honey, tangerine juice, and cool, clear water. froze for twenty minutes, then slushed with a fork...repeated until I couldn't stand it...ate something new and tried a new recipe. (BINGO!)

I offer to all the teams a little summertime love from Team Tangerine! You too can be a winning "loser" with some Tangerine Granita!

WOW, Jill, that's wild! Congrats on your $500 win!!!

Enjoying the Bingo cards! I also think that "processed foods" are ones that have lots of words in the ingredient list that you'd have a hard time pronouncing and understanding what they're talking about.

I hope everyone is having fun completing their Bingo cards. For a new healthy food, my grocery store happened to start carrying Dragon Fruit and Cactus pears - so I bought one of each. Haven't had a chance to try them yet but I will tomorrow.

And as to the earlier question about processed foods, I don't consider bread or peanut butter to be processed foods, and I wouldn't count cheerios either as a processed food. I don't think that part of the challenge was meant for us to only eat foods in their natural state. If you take that too far, you could even consider cooking foods to be processing, or even peeling veggies to be processing. And oils would be out too. I consider it to be more of the packaged food mixes with the list of ingredients a mile long.

BEBARB - have you tried visiting an ethnic market for some new veggies or fruits you've not tried before? I have to travel some distance to the Asian market in the city, but I try to get there at least a couple of times a year just to add some variety! Since I've started going there I've tried: yard long beans, chinese eggplant, dragon fruit, toy choi (baby bok choy), golden melon, long squash, chayote, daikon, fuzzy squash, mountain yam (ngaimo), oyster sauce, as well as a couple of other condiments my nephew suggested (although I couldn't tell you all what's in them, but they go well with a couple of the Japanese dishes he taught me to make when he came home after a year in Japan)

The "no processed food" was the most difficult for me to figure out on the BINGO card. Since my diet is mostly pre packaged frozen meals and things like granola bars, soup and other packaged low cal foods... I had to do something drastic.

I eat lots of fruits and veggies so I always have them around for snacks. The only way for me to go without the processed food without having to think too much about it was to dedicate yesterday to eating ONLY fruits and veggies. It was very boring but it was only one day.

I really commend people who have the discipline to "eat clean"! I'm certainly not there yet.

Hi from Diamonds. My team does not have a Food Bingo going this week, only exercise. I wonder why?
I love the exercise Bingo challenge. It keeps me on my toes to make sure I get in a variety or workouts.

Hello All!
I've asked on my Panthers team page, but I'd like some thoughts & ideas from the whole team.

How strict are you being on the "Skip processed food for the day"?

For me, I will skip Crystal Light & Fiber One cookies for a day.

But what about cheerios? Bread? Peanut Butter?

I eat a LOT of protein & veggie meals. But I'm kind of freaking out about any bit of processing. I want to be faithful to my team & the challenge.

Have a great day!!

Good Morning!

Tangerine team started the Bingo challenge yesterday. I do agree the Food Bingo will be more of a Challenge. I am going for Blackouts on both cards. Good luck everyone!

Starting my bingo cards. I got a row on the exercise one so far. Woot woot!!! There are some harder ones on the food card. We will see...Blackout challenge accepted. Today I am thankful I got a cleaning bug. My house is the cleanest it's been in weeks and now I have the weekend to relax. emoticon

SparkPeople also has a multitude of recipes for us to try.

I had a hominy tripe soup for a new food and a new recipe. DH made it and did not tell me about the tripe until I had eaten the soup. I have avoided tripe because of the idea of it. It didn't have much flavor but the soup was good. Tonight we are having a Cajon meatloaf with a Cajon spice we have never tried. Another new recipe.

Has anyone tried a tangelo? They should be in season. Kind of like a tangerine and an orange.

Happy eating!

The food card is definitely going to be the hardest for me. I don't like new foods emoticon
But I will find at least one thing!! I am trying a new recipe today - a chicken/cornbread casserole from the Betty Crocker website.

Another one I'm going to have trouble with is "Skip Processed Food for the day". My daily dose of cheerios would technically be "processed" (I just realized I can swap it put for oatmeal). But I also LOVE Fiber One's chocolate chip cookies!! I guess I'm going to have to skip one day of them!

I'll be interested in others' "Healthy food you haven't tried before" too!!

Re: the zucchini/spaghetti idea - I just slice my zucchini in circles, saute in lots of garlic & a bit of butter (or spray oil). Then I pour on some spaghetti sauce! So good!! And lots less trouble than a fancy slicer. I need to try it with spaghetti squash (that could be my new food!! I've never had spaghetti squash!!)

Today I'm thankful for my great Panther team!!
I'm also thankful that I am almost done with my son's quilt!

Have a great day!!
