emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Just checking in before bed time. I did get 70 points today, did a lot of different things, and I did get in about 30 min. of walking and chair exercise plus some fun items.
and I did get all my food tracked today, so that makes two days in a row, I don't know why I hate doing that, never have liked it. I drank all my water and ate all my veggies, and stayed under my calorie count.

OK, Ronda, here is 4 big smiles, I have had challenges like that and more than once. So here we go on this 4 week interim challenge. I've already done one of the things on my list, I've given a friend a big smile and really two things because I've said some positive things this morning like, This is the day the LORD has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it. SO HAVE A BLESSED DAY. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Waving is good arm exercise.

WOW I did horrible. I started this challenge out at 203lbs with a goal of 188 and today's weigh in is 207.0... I gained 4 lbs this challenge. All because I can't quit eating. I'm so SAD! I'm backsliding.. I don't want to do that. I don't want to be 275 again.

I made up this week's menu.. I still need to make the rest of the month's menu. I will have to stick to this. Maybe by the time the round 3 starts I will be back to 203. I've been walking- but I need to do more exercise. and I don't have any excuse for not doing it. My exercise plans are inside except for the morning walk. And I've started doing it before my exercise routine. that's probably why I haven't been exercising. After walking I don't like to exercise but walking after exercise seems to be ok.

Don't forget to weigh in today- it's the last one for this challenge!! Hope to see everyone during the break!

emoticon What a day it was. Up at 6am, out the door, first stop walk the dog, then onward and upward to Wal-Mart, get the shopping done before our company arrives. I have meal plans for the next 5 days etc. Then, I walked with my dog again between stops. Next, we saw the insurance agent. Our old agent retired. I guess he really was old emoticon

Here, I am waiting to hear from my niece. I haven't seen her since her semester started this year. She is commuting about 45 mins each way.

I feel like I am chasing my tail. This is the first time, I don't feel ready for the week to be coming to an end. emoticon emoticon

Good afternoon!
I updated my score sheet for this week. I put the days of the week next to the item I did. It works for me.

By the way folks just because we are going to be closed down for a break doesn't really mean we are on break! I don't want anyone to start slacking. So there is a list of things you can do to stay busy.

Our next round will begin Sept 23rd. It will last 12 weeks. The first week is all about goals. Week 2-11 is a RoadTrip! We are going to travel the USA. Week 12 is when we wrap everything up. During our Road Trip we will have lots of things to read. As part of our challenges. This round will end right before Christmas. Then Round 4 will start Jan 6th. U'll have from Christmas - New Year's off!

I'm tired. Been doing so much running around lately. Don't know if I'm coming or going!!

emoticon Anne!

emoticon Em! Been missing you!

Paula how you doing?

I wish SP would give us different font colors, font sizes, and highlighter! I could do so much more with our games on SP instead of having to draw them up on my computer and make you guys use a link.

good morning, yesterday I got up and got dressed and went to gym and my body woke up by the time I was finished and I went to work feeling great but I didn't do this today as I came down with a sore neck, I think I slept funny last night so I am going this arvo instead.

I'm doing this again tomorrow as it was a real positive way to start the day. I hope everyone has a great day today.

Paula, I so agree ... the heat is getting oppressive !!

I am so glad that there will be a break between
sessions. Hopefully I will be ready and able to
put in the work. Glad the school year is coming back.

Will havemy daughter and her family for a week ,

my score for this weeks challenge was 160 not bad, went to the gym yesterday and did 10km but I used 4 different cardio machines to break it down, this week I want to get up early and do 5km a day on the cardio before going to work and then I'm going to go back after work to do strength exercises. That's my plan.

WOW! Yesterday I don't know if I made it. I ate out and I might be over-exaggerating on my calories or vice versa. Too close to tell. So I'll call yesterday a bust and start over today! Today I will not go out to eat Mexican food. That was all I ate yesterday. But I came up with 10 calories over and it could be wrong but I don't know.

Scratch Friday and today I will re-do my fitness & calories and I hope I get off the river bank. So I can go home. I DON'T WANT TO GET LEFT BEHIND!!!!!!!

I HAVE NEXT WEEK'S CHALLENGE UP!! Next week you can pick & choose what you want to do. The rules are simple-- pick at least 1 item out of each category. If you really want to challenge yourself you can do the whole list daily!! The object is to do as much of the list as you can. WOW! This will be our last week of this challenge. Then we are on a 4 week break. With a twist! During the break we will be doing a challenge very similar to our last week's challenge. Let's keep the momentum going!

Tues 08/14 = 40 mins
Weds 08/15 = 60 mins.

I want to share some of my Challenge TO DO's:

HUG: I gave a hug to my niece when she returned from her vacation.

PEP TALK: I am getting tired of the HEAT this summer. I found that I was sleeping in later than normal for me. So, I thought about why, and came up with a solution, GET UP EARLIER before the Sun is up and before it is SO HOT!! It works and I am happier.

15 min. ME TIME: I sit on my deck with my dog and read. The natural light makes it easier to see the words on the pages and it is easier for me to read. I have also noticed less distractions and I am enjoying my book more.

EAT 5 VEGGIES: I am shopping at a Farmer's Roadside Stand and it is GREAT. Tomatoes, squash, BEETS, Purple potatoes, Corn, Green Beans.

emoticon this is in response to Rhonda's post about HOW TO DO THE RAFTING CHALLENGE or any Challenge for that matter.

I can't think of anything that I would add to your explanation Rhonda. I think you did a good job explaining what to do. Perhaps a few more words will help. When counting our exercise minutes, the exercise can be anything. It is ONLY the CHALLENGE that is SPECIFIC for each 10 minute increment. I find that most of my comments are fantasy from my "VIRTUAL REALITY" on the river. If, I find pics that I like in Google, I copy them and post them as mine. The Challenges are just SO MUCH FUN!!! And, I get involved with them and have lost weight every time we have done them.

I hope this helps anyone that is feeling confused. I am happy to post any other comments that I can think of. Are there and specific questions??

HAVE FUN!!!

good morning, yes I am here rafting kind of as I couldn't figure it out but I'm am down to 9. I am doing legs today at the gym so that's all good and I went on my treadmill for a quick run/walk and a good walk yesterday so I added them together for my fitness tracker. I have a river near my place where I walk to every weekend and it isn't for rafting as it is smooth enough for canoeing instead.
Trying to keep up with 2 challenges is a challenge in itself as I am doing the minions summer challenge, how is everyone going? I hope you are all enjoying Ronda's challenges as she is the best. Well I'm off to work so I will catch up. emoticon

Edited by: SUNSHINE582 at: 8/15/2018 (17:21)
SPECIFIC: Drink 6-8 glasses of water, walk every morning, journal food intake.
MEASURABLE: journal water and food intake every day. Write down fitness minutes after every walk.
ATTAINABLE: I will gradually start walking faster and further each week. I can slowly manage my food and water intake.
RELEVENT: To improve my life style by making conscious decisions to change to a healthier me.
TIME ORIENTED: End of BLC43.

Yes I am confused but no wirries. I am treating this as a practice run. Yesterday I completed a 0 minute HI IT chair routind--today I am sore and achy in all sorts of places. Just going to do yoga today--will it count?

emoticon Lois! I wish I could say I have my eating under control. But I don't. I did good for 7 days & messed up for 5. I'm trying! Congrats on your success! You are doing great! Have you check out our river rafting game we have going this week. It's a lot of fun?

emoticon Cassie- Glad you got on the raft. Ok if you got 50 minutes in the first day- that means you can complete the first 5 challenges. The 10 min. ST add time to your 50 minutes & if you walked that's another 10 min. That gives you 70 miles. These don't add miles 2) SMILE BIG! Know I love you! Be proud!
3)Drink 6-8 glasses water but they do add points. So you get 50 points for the 50 minute workout when the challenge is completed with the workout.
EXAMPLE:
10 MINUTES FITNESS= 1) 10 min. Strength Training!
10 MINUTES FITNESS=2) SMILE BIG! Know I love you! Be proud!
10 MIUITES FITNESS= 3)Drink 6-8 glasses water
10 MINUTES FITNESS=4) 10 minute walk (walk your dog?)
10 MINUTES FITNESS= 5) Hug someone- Tell them you love them
--------
50 MINUTES TOTAL= 1ST 5 CHALLENGES=50 POINTS
But 2 of the challenges involve 10 more fitness minutes- moves you 2 more spaces (20 more miles)
So actually you could have progressed to 70. But it's ok to only claim the miles for the fitness you do. example- I may put in 40 minutes fitness but only do the first 3 challenges so I only claim 30 miles & 30 points. Sometimes I don't feel like doing all the challenges so I continue where I left off. DO I HAVE YOU CONFUSED. I THINK I CONFUSED MYSELF AND I KNOW WHAT I MEAN. emoticon

Paula you are better at explaining than I am. Can you put this in simple terms. Thanks

Anne where are you? What to make sure you are with us. I love rafting!

Paula- Hi glad you are doing great. First day 40 miles; 2nd day 40 miles; today 20.

I can't believe this challenge is almost over. Makes me sad. But don't worry we will have a 4 week break that is still challenging us. During that 4 weeks I will compose our next round. I've come up with a new idea. We are going on a 10 week road trip!! We will travel the USA. First week will be to set up our fitness goal & weight loss goals. Oh that's something we will also be doing different-- I've heard from other members that they don't like to post their weight for everyone to see. So next challenge we will post how much weight we plan to lose and every week we will post how much we lost or gained or maintained and end of challenge we will post total weight lost. I don't want anyone to feel uncomfortable or embarrassed. And week 12 of the challenge will be our celebration week. The 10 week "ROAD TRIP" we will have challenges to do. I will try to make them progressing challenges. As usual we will start with nutrition, motivation, we will spend about 6-8 weeks in fitness. Anyhow that's what I am working on. Hope you'll enjoy my new idea!!

I want to thank you for participating and hope you will continue to join me. We Will Succeed! We can do this together!! I am always open to suggestions!!

emoticon I hope I won't need these goggles on our rafting trip. WOW, the river is really roaring. And, you are NOT kidding Rhonda the water is ICE COLD!!!

I got in 30 minutes on the river today. It seems like I am getting off to a slow start. I think I still have some jet lag after our African Trip.

Sweet Dreams ALL. And, see you around the campfire in the morning. emoticon

I am in the water. I got 50 minutes in at the Silver sneakers class this morning and I have completed the first 3 challenges. I believe that gives me a total of 80 miles for today? Just prepared my meatless Monday meal of jerk cauliflower steaks, baked sweet potatoes, black beans, sliced avocado and baked apple.

I was not able to complete my BLC team's Between the Rounds challenge which is how I ended up here, looking for something to keep me focused enough not to gain weight.

emoticon Em! Good to hear from you! So happy you are enjoying all of your company.

I've been busy trying to get my mother's house ready for her. Don't know when she'll be moving in. We had some rain & I've got weeds all over the place at both houses. So much to do. I only have 2 days a week that I don't have something to do with the church. And then I signed up for more! I too have been doing poorly with eating habits & exercise. The BLC38 is getting closer to starting. Not sure when we start- but they keep me busy too! I really hope I can get back in the swing of things. I need to lose more weight & really don't want to gain back the weight I've lost! Well it's 0600. Time to get going!

It's early~ we are having breakfast! Getting ready to get up & get going for the day. We have eggs & potatoes for breakfast. They made coffee- but I don't drink that. Time to gather up our camping stuff and load the raft. That's 2 of my grandkids. I'll check in later today or maybe tonight when we settle down.

Have a great day on the river!!
We have a new rafter!! mustang0421 emoticon Cassie. Hope your raft is fixed and ready to go!! Be sure to enjoy the trip and take in some of the sights! It is absolutely beautiful here.

Hello team !! It has been awhile !

First wave of company is gone, 2 more weeks
until 2nd wave will be here. I really enjoyed my
brother's visit and meeting his girlfriend. She is
a very special woman.

In two weeks, my daughter and her family will
be here for a few days. We will attend dgd
wedding on Sat and back home on Sun. They
plan to stay 2 more days. I want to get a few
more things done before then.

Next week, dh is going to start the new porch.
That will be a big job. We also need an estimate
on our roof. the new truck has triggered so many
more jobs that we hadn't planned on.

I am not getting any planned exercise, but have
been getting a lot of steps in. Food plan is not
really consistent, but have been staying pretty
close to where I stopped, weight-wise.

I think of you all daily and hope to be back for the next challenge

emoticon It is my pleasure to be joining you for dinner. I love fish, so I am going to have whatever is the catch of the day and some vegetables. I wonder if they have a drink that is a favorite of the local people? I bet they do. I am so excited about our rafting trip. WE have taken a couple fof rafting trips here in Colorado. SO MUCH FUN!!!

I was thinking it would be really neat, if SPARK had a virtual way for us to talk to each other. Like a LIVE CHAT format that we could us. Similar to what is on Facebook. It would help us make plans on our Virtual Road Trips ? emoticon

I think I'm going to have Piri Piri chicken with cabbage & carrots sauté & spicy rice.
I love it here. Dining outside listening to the African drums. And the sky is absolutely beautiful. It's so nice.
I never heard from Rusty.

Tomorrow I'll get packed up and fly back to AZ. Need to get all my camping gear together for the rafting trip. 188 miles down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. I love camping- cooking out- and being on the water. Plus rafting down the canyon is magical. The sky is beautiful- the canyon is so colorful & the wildlife is great!! Need to pack sunscreen- I usually get 45-50 because the water magnifies the sun rays.

Thanks for joining me for dinner. This is really nice!!

Good Morning!! Are we meeting tonight for dinner. This is my last night at the hotel.

Today I am in Manica. Manica is a market town in western Mozambique, lying west of Chimoio in the province of Manica. Originally the centre of the Kingdom of Manica, it grew around the gold trade but is now best known for the Chinamapere rock paintings.
The Penha Longa Mountains lie north of the town.t has an area of 62,272 km² and a population of 1,412,245 (2007 census). The province is surrounded by Zimbabwe in the west, Tete Province in the northwest, Sofala Province in the east, Save River in the south, and Zambezi river in the northeast.

Check out the rock paintings. www.bing.com/images/search?q

We have a little town where some guy actually painted on the rocks. It's art work. It's kind of cool to see.

Tomorrow I will be flying out back to the states!! So let's have dinner tonight. Do you want to eat at the hotel or should we find a nice little African restaurant. I still want my chicken!

Hey I found a prefect restaurant: Canaia's Place
Located in Nanhime Village, Canaia’s Place offers diners a unique opportunity to taste true Macua meals made the traditional way.
The menu encompasses dishes such as cassava, grill chicken (prepared Zambezian way), cooked fish, matatapa and curries.
The prices are fair and donations go towards the local children.
Dine under the African sky, beaconed by the call of drums and delicious aromas of authentic cuisine at Canaia’s Place.

Sounds prefect and not too far from hotel! Meet you at 7pm?

emoticon WHAT A DAY!! I went up to the Montes Chimanimani- Beautiful mountains & forest area. Really enjoy my hike! Then I check out the small island Ilha de Mocambique. That was a quick boat ride. Then I went the world 9th largest lake: Lago Niassa-- It has current & waves like the ocean beaches. Can't believe it's a lake. Back to the motel. I will be staying here until Fri- then off to the Grand Canyon for our water rafting trip!! This is going to be so exciting!

I can't find the chicken I seen the first day I was here. It was similar to jerk chicken. But I am going to try Portuguese African Chicken or the Piri Piri chicken.

Who wants to join me for dinner Thurs night? I'm sure we can find a great restaurant or maybe the one here at the resort has my chicken. I love spicy foods!

There's no wrong way to travel. We start at the top and every 10 minutes of any kind of fitness takes us to the next destination. Each destination has a small challenge with it. If you do 30 minutes today then you have all day to do the 3 challenges that go with the 30 minutes. Each one is worth 10 points and at the end of the challenge we post it on our weight log.

Mozambique officially the Republic of Mozambique ( Portuguese : Moçambique or República de Moçambique is a country in Southeast Africa bordered by the Indian Ocean to the east, Tanzania to the north, Malawi and Zambia to the northwest, Zimbabwe to the west, and Swaziland (Eswatini) and South Africa to the southwest. It is separated from the Comoros , Mayotte and Madagascar by the Mozambique Channel to the east.

I'm looking for a hot spring! Hot springs in South Africa are geothermal treasures offering their invigorating waters to visitors, unfortunately, few people take the time to visit them. Most of the hot springs in South Africa were formed by ancient volcanic activity and the surrounding landscape is incredible. Since the springs are usually located a bit off the beaten path, you see areas that won’t normally be covered on a typical journey.
In 2006 on the edge of Gorongosa National Park~ Nhambita~ were doing a preliminary hydrogeological investigation for a hot spring.
I'm staying at the Avani Pemba Beach Hotel & Spa! Couldn't find a hot spring so I'm in the hot tub!! This was a great deal! $97 per night!! Woohoo! The other one I was looking at was $623 nightly. www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Re

This morning I am going get out of the hot tub. And take a walk on the beach. Today I'm headed for Montes Chimanimani. I'll need to get info and directions. Hope it's close by. I want to stay here again tonight.

Have an AWESOME DAY! Week is half over-- and there is so much more I want to do!! HUGS!!

Hey, Hey, Hey! It's another day!! And I am in Mozambique- Went to Gorongosa National Park.
What a safari trip! Amazing animals! Did you know-what happens when nature is given a chance to rebound. In just a few years, Gorongosa is well on its way to becoming, once again, “the place where Noah left his Ark". Today, scientists consider Gorongosa to be one of the most special and unique national parks on Earth, a hotspot of 'biodiversity', a place that must be saved for future generations to enjoy. Every guest that visits Gorongosa plays a vital role in this amazing wildlife conservation effort. Come and join us in a magical place in a magical land!

I hope I can find the restaurant I found yesterday that's here. They had a chicken dinner that looks like the jamican jerk chicken. And I love it. From the way they describe it -sounded a lot like the jerk chicken.

I couldn't find the Local Fare. Suppose to have great seafood. So I decided to go to Campo Di Mare. So I'm having seafood on the beach! I'll look for my chicken tomorrow!

What a day!!!
Started out at Hwange National park. Hwange National Park (formerly Wankie Game Reserve) is the largest natural reserve in Zimbabwe. The park lies in the west, on the main road between Bulawayo and the Victoria Falls and near to Dete. Took lots of pics: www.bing.com/images/search?q

I went shopping at the Avondale Flea market. They are opened 7 days a week. I bought a dress and a neckless. I wanted to get so many things but how would I get them home.

I decided to check out the city Harare
officially called Salisbury until 1982) is the capital and most populous city of Zimbabwe. Situated in the north-east of the country in the heart of historic Mashonaland, the city has an estimated population of 1,606,000 (2009), with 2,800,000 in its metropolitan area (2006).

I am so amazed at all the large cities I have seen. I was expecting a lot of small villages. It never occurred to me that they would have cities like the United States. The town I live in is 28,000.
Wild & life Trust & Zen-STATEMENT

Only Elephant calves that are rescued due to causes such as poaching, drought, Parental abandonment/death, etc. will be candidates for this project. www.wildislife.com/zen.html
No elephant will be willfully or purposefully taken from the wild, without genuine cause for rescue.

This is a pioneer project for Zimbabwe. This project has been successfully implemented in 2 other African Countries.

Having Bobotie for dinner. Pronounced Ba-boor-tea
It's a curried meat & fruit with creamy golden topping. Really good.

Good Morning Paula! Rusty is here!! He checked in last night. He made it after all.
I don't drink coffee but a huge glass of ice tea works for me. Let's see if we can find Rusty and say hi! Today I'm headed off to Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe. Did you know: Hwange National Park (formerly Wankie Game Reserve) is the largest natural reserve in Zimbabwe. The park lies in the west, on the main road between Bulawayo and the Victoria Falls and near to Dete. We I get done there I'll be going to Victoria Falls which is in the same area. This trip is working out pretty good. Everything seems to be right next to each other. Not bad planning for my first African Trip. Have a great Helicopter ride.

I left a message for Rusty to join us this morning. Hope he gets it before I take off.

WOW! Paula! Amazing pics! I love them! Anyone else in Africa??

St. Claire Lion Park
Address: Gaborone, Botswana, BW, Southern Africa
On the edges of Gaborone city is St. Claire Lion Park. As well as being home to some of the region's lion population, the park is a great place to while away a few hours. Local families and visitors often come to enjoy a picnic in pleasant surroundings. There are also trails for horse riders, a restaurant, children's playground, an opportunity to view game, and a chance to relax amidst the backdrop of Gaborone's dam.
Open hours: daily (restaurant closed on Monday)
Admission: charge
Was so happy to find this place. It is hot and the water park is exciting & then the animals are amazing!

The Botswana National Museum, also known as the National Museum and Art Gallery, is located in the Botswana capital of Gaborone and is a multi-disciplinary institution that includes the National Art Gallery and Octagon Gallery,

I seen so many cool things today. BOY! am I tired!!
Hot Air Ballooning in the Okavango Delta is a new ballooning package that African Travel Gateway offers, which can be enjoyed as a stand-alone tour . What an awesome sunset!! It's so cool up here!! But when the balloon sways it scares me!!

Good night! I'm hungry!!
