We only hire people when we are unable to safely do the job, (like taking out a tree). Otherwise our maintenance helps keep us in shape.

No. Couldn't afford to.

I would hire someone to do the yardwork if I could. It's between $35 and $50 per week though, and on the lower end of Social Security I can't spend that much. Other than that I haven't hired anyone other than to trim back tree branches and clean the leaves off my roof and out of the gutter.

Our house is 10 yr old. We bought it new. DH takes care of maintenance...things that are 10 years old need replacing etc. I have been doing the cleaning, however our DD insists I get help (I'm 81) so will do with some help when I get time to it.

We started taking care of our yard (our AZ yard of stones) but that was short lived. We have 42 plants and 6 trees that need trimming, and the yard needs to be blown clean after blooming time or fall leaf drop or any work on plants so we have the whole yard done twice a year includes fertilizing and checking the water system. It takes 4 men 2.5 hours to do it. And they haul it away.

Personal goal is to weigh in 159 by the end of May 2019. I did not make my previous goal so must do better...I ACHIEVED THE GOAL OF REACHING 151 IN MAY 2013. A LOSS OF 37 POUNDS! Summer of 2014 I gained 10 pounds of it back while traveling to the BVI's and Ireland so I have set a new goal for 2019 to be back to below 155.

I do occasionally hire help when I know that it's something I can't/ shouldn't do alone.
I'm having some remodeling, painting, flooring and carpeting done. I'm preparing to
sell my house. When I had this house built(35 years ago) I did all the maintaining myself.
Now not so much.
I'm so over the whole home ownership thing. I spend way to much time/energy and money on maintenance.

NO but I live down the street from the Church of Greater Works. They preach that the way to be like Jesus and get to heaven is to help the elderly and disabled. My husband is 76 and has CP. I seldom mow my front yard.
