That is a good one Tracy! I think I may adopt that one for a bit.

I was running mile repeats on hills last night and just kept saying to myself "why do I want this?" "how do I get where I want to be?" It really pushed me through. It was 3/4 miles of hills in 2 sections so we rean the first set, had a flat spot then ran the one really long one up to a flat spot to finish with a 30 second walk and go back at it. It was a great workout! And those words just kept pushing me towards the answer of "for me, with me"

Ok, Mom, that one is pretty funny, and so true.

Garden - wasn't that funniest quiz ever? Who thinks of this stuff?

I think I figured that one out. Never did find it, but it bugged the holy crap out of me all day long and I thought and thought about it.

I think this is it...

I have a new running mantra that involves profanity, which is fitting for me since I am prone to swearing, but definitely won't work for others. I got it because I took this ridiculous quiz on Facebook called "What type of badass are you." It was one of the funniest, most ridiculous quizzes I've ever taken, and was basically an excuse to use the word f*** alot. Apparently I am a Golem. Silly. Anyways, the description was SO funny and my friend and I started saying it because we found it so insanely ridiculous, and it was oddly enough an appropriate mantra for my running. I actually said it to myself just before I started my race on Sunday and I smiled. Here it is:

I f***ing f*** up the ground.

Ha! Indeed.

Love,
Hillary

Laura~ LOL at the grandpa one!! That would keep me out of the chocolate as well!

I love the gatorade saying, just love it. One that I seen years ago, god I hope i can remember it correctly...oh probably not, something like "what you eat today, will burn your @ss tomorrow" I'll have to look for that one. I had it saved for years and I probably deleted it.

Nice to see you back though Julie!

I have a couple I like. One is from Momto3babes and gatorade and is "you can throw in the towel or use it to wipe the sweat off your face"

My friend adapted Forrest Gumps quote to "healthy is as healthy does" I kind of like that one.

I have one I repeat to myself, but its not kind, lol. Its basically get off your a$$ Laura or that grandpa is gonna beat you again" for the old guys that beat me at 5ks. My Dh loves to remind me of the man in Detroit at the marathon who was about 80 with a very bad limp that made him shuffle and hop and an arm that didn't move that came through about a half hour before me. While I give him all the love in the world for doing it, he killed me time wise, lol. If he can do it then I have not one excuse.

My newest after my marathon last week where I shaved 15 min off my best for a 4:02 is "boston is only 12 minutes away" That kept me out of the chocolate all day today. It kept me moving through the calf cramp today too. So far this one is working and I am determined to lose 5 pounds for Detroit.

OK! I have been on SP for several years...lost some weight, got in shape, gained itback, have had some orthopedic issues with my feet, but now I am having more health issues and my weight has gone back up to where it was when I started several years ago! Still having orthopedic problems, but I am going to work around them doing things that don't require me to be on my feet as much like swimming, biking, etc.

I decided that today is the day I was going to really start getting healthy again! I find the most difficult time for me is afternoons (I am an Activity Director at a Nursing Home) when all the residents are having their coffee & snacks! I want one too. I am trying to bring a snack with me (fruit) from home, but it's not always convenient and I'm not always hungry, but it's such a bad habit for me to have a cookie (or 2 or 3) to snack on with them! Today I decided that I needed an easy, creative mantra to help me avoid the temptation of having that cookie or snack! I know the ole "...doesn't taste as good as thin feels", but that is not gonna work for me! I am wondering if any of you wonderful fellow Michiganders have a mantra that is fun and creative that works for you when you are about to dive into something you know you shouldn't!

How about it? Anyone got one they would like to share?
