Good morning! What a wonderful day we had yesterday.

Such a good time, the four girls and the Christmas market, not to mention Betsy's place that is always inviting.

Maybe I will get to posting photos, soon.

Today Mass was especially nice and I am feeling good in general.
Even my back is good so far today.

Coffee with Fran is coming up in a little bit.

Cleaning and wrapping are in my future, today.

Have wonderful Sunday, dear friends.

Chris so sorry your back hurt again. I hope you feel better today.

Fran I can just picture little Racey on his pillow all tuckered out.

Had a good treat at my taco place today got $5 off my order for my birthday. And than at Starbucks got one if their fancy drinks free with my earned rewards and they will give me a treat of a free drink on my birthday. I am getting the same drink. These fancy drinks come with a reusable cup. This makes up for not having good numbers on the scale today. It was a big water weight gain from the cake and big bowl of cereal I had last night. But it was one pound less than last weeks Saturday weigh in.

Good morning. emoticon

Ashley and I are off to Fredericksburg to visit my sister and her daughter.
There is a Christmas market today with their sister city in Germany. Schwetzingen, where my great grandmother is from.
Betsy and I have visited there at least twice. so I look forward to the market.
Too bad they are calling for rain. Keeping the fingers crossed.

Woke up a bit early, unfortunately. Probably because it is kind of warm out in the 40's, going in the 50's.
I had wanted to wear a nice new sweater, but with the rain jacket I would be broiling, so a short sleeved top it will be.

Maybe a bath will help me pep up. I am counting on it.
I couldn't wait until the brunch at 10:15, so just had some hummus on whole wheat pita and a small glass of V8.

You older gals are doing so much better than I am.
I feel so old and creaky, this year and I am only 62.

No one to to blame but myself.

Well, I am off.

You all have a good day.

Just got back from a lovely advent concert that my friend Ann was in.
Her church is a block away from me.
Saw a few neighbors.

The music was wonderful but the church pew really messed up my back.
Numb from my waist down.
I didn't stay at the reception very long as it was uncomfortable to stand.

Ah well. Tomorrow is a new day.

Good evening to all. going to be cold here Sunday. Cloudy all day so a good day to finish my Christmas cards. I am late this year, I guess being sick took more out of me that I thought.

I want to start wrapping some gifts I have already tomorrow. Ginger and I are ready to hit the sack, and watch some TV in bed.

Hope everyone had a great day. Nothing exciting here so I will get off and go in and turn on the TV.

Hugs and prayers to all.

Had a wonderful visit with My son this week. We cooked together, laughed, talked and just had fun in spite of the snow and cold weather. He got safely back to his sister’s and now is enjoying time with them and their families before he goes back home on Monday. Always sad to see him go back home, but as the kids grow they each have their own lives.

Wednesday night I was sitting here talking on the phone with my sister when the power went out. It was out for over 4 hours. I pulled out the flame less candles and a couple portable LED lights I had so we could at least move around without worrying we couldn’t in the dark. The hard part was it was really cold outside and by the time the electricity went back on the temp in the house was 63 degrees. I curled up in a blanket and dozed in my chair for a while before deciding a warm bed sounded good. When the power went back on I got up, reset clocks, turning out lights and tv. By this time I was wide awake and really didn’t sleep very much.

Christmas cards are done and in the mail. Really cut back on what I send out this year. All that is left is baking some cookies this weekend or next week. Not going to make as many as I usually do as we don’t need them all sitting around here. I’m not a big sweet eater, but do love my Christmas cookies.

Yesterday we got 4.5” of snow and now it is snowing again. They say another 1-1 1/2” today. So far this season we’ve had about 20” of snow. Luckily some has melted. Our average for the entire winter season is usually around 42” with the exception of last year with 100”

Wishing you all a good day.

Good morning.

Chris, glad you had such a good sleep and your headache is gone! You probably needed that sleep. I like your idea of taking the photos on a cloudy day, will really show up the lights and look beautiful.

Mary, your idea of piling straw against that back door should do the trick! I'm glad you slept so well, yes our own beds are the best place for our sleeps!

Not much doing here so I've been taking it real easy this morning. Now I have to get cracking, lol, slow poke.

Good morning, Happy Friday 13th.
I slept so well, I am happy we changed the beds around. Cold wind blowing off the Lake.

Today, I want to get out in the cat /chicken house and do a little rearrangement of the straw
The back door has wind coming in so I figure if I pile the straw against it that will help
We won't be using it until spring.
We were to get hydro out there this week but with the big fire there will be no hydro run.
Too far to run a cord from the house to the building for just awhile. Harv has his new backhoe/tractor parked right up beside the house so it can be plugged in.

Good morning!

I worked 9.5 hours, yesterday and slept for 11 last night. Ahh. felt good.
My headache is gone and my back feels better, so far today.

A cold rain, and maybe even a little freezing rain, today.

A mix between working on the computer and out in the field.
I have lots of end of year stuff to do and the company wants photos of Christmas decor around town to show to clients.
I am thinking a cloudy day, the things will look better in the photos, especially those with lights, so I am going to at least get a third of them done, today.(Have to do by end of the year.)

Tonight I go to my friend Ann's church to here a regional choir sing. She will be in it. Not carols, but Classical Christmas with much of it in Latin.

So I have a full day.

Hope you have a good one. emoticon

Had a nice day, went out for lunch and right away boxed up half to take home to hubby. I than went and hung out at Starbucks until about an hour before my appoinstment with my therapist. I ran into a friend and we talked and laughed for an hour. He said he had been filling down and I brighten up his day. After my appointment I went to a thrift store and bought a head band and hangbag for half price. It is a small bag just big enough for my phone, power pac and ID, slso my Starbucks card. I will carry it when I go down to the lobby, and maybe Starbucks.

Good evening to all. A cloudy day here in sunny FL, but no rain. I addressed Christmas cards and hope to finish tomorrow. I also did laundry and got them all put away.

I haven't felt too swift today so did just what needed to be done. I am going to bed and watch some TV. I always fall asleep, but that is ok.

Gloria, I will keep you in my prayers about your Dr;s visit, and keep us posted. I know I have been concerned about my health, but all we can do is put it in God's hands. Geo. Jr. brought over a bunch of presents all wrapped up so pretty, his wife loves to wrap. I haven't even started to wrap any, do have some shopping done, (on line).

Praying everyone has a good night's rest, and a wonderful day tomorrow, will try and get back in tomorrow probably in the evening. If I sit down during the day, then I don't get anything else done.

I got a lot of mixed news at the heart doctor this morning but we came away (me and my son's wife Barb) feeling that overall it was pretty good. To begin with, my stress test & other tests show I have another blockage in the lower part of my heart. But instead of sending me for another angiogram, he's taking me off one of my BP meds because my BP is way too low, plus he's putting me on nitro patches to help with the angina. We'll try this for 6 months to see if that helps with the angina, swollen legs, shortness of breath, but if not, I'll have to go for an angiogram. I told him 'no more heart bypasses, I've had two already' and he said we'll wait and see how/what these changes do. Also, my veins are big and loose (his description, lol) and that's most of the cause of the swelling of my feet and legs. He hopes the changes he's making helps with this also. I ask a million questions when I go to a doctor but that makes them explain and my son's wife said we learned more today about my heart/veins/blood, etc., then we've ever know before. This is my new heart doctor, my first visit to him. Mine retired last summer. But we liked him and I know he'll take good care of me.
Sorry that was so long but I can't seem to condense anything I write! emoticon

Mary, I agree with Nan that Jim will miss those fires. Or does he have them at Harv's place? I wish you had gotten him to take your pic all bundled up in the freezing cold, just so you could sit by the fire. You two sure love the outdoors and that's a treasure!

Nan, I'm doing my exercises faithfully, just not on the days that I'm going shopping and yes, I see and feel some improvement already in my leg and the exercises have gotten easier, at least two of them have, one is still rough to do. The physiotherapist told me the muscles that have atrophied can be reversed but the heart doc today said 'only partially!' Who am I to believe, eh? I can imagine what you meant when you said your great grandson shouldn't have been given a staff, LOL.

Shirley, I understand turning down the thermostat at night but that's mighty low. Be careful not to make yourselves ill with colds, etc.

I'm still in my 'going out' clothes, too relaxed to change. When I do, I'll just put my pj's and housecoat on. I gave my son's wife their Christmas cake I made for them and I just now had some tea and a slice of mine, it was good. I'll probably just have a sandwich for supper and have it later on. Not many Christmas cards coming this year, has anyone found that to be with them? I know of several people that say they just stopped sending out cards this year. I don't put out many but do give each of my children and close family one.

Hope you're all enjoying your Thursday!

Good morning!
Mary, what a great fire! I imagine his fires are one thing Jim misses while at Harvs.

My gosh, Shirley, you'd best be learning how to build a good fire in your fireplace! 58 degrees is COLD. We keep our house at 72 and 65 at night! But, the, we're OLD! Our kids keep their houses somewhere in the 60s, so they roast when they come see us.

Gloria I'm hoping for a good report from the Dr. Today. Like you say, you would have heard already if there was a problem. How are the exercises coming along? Are they getting any easier as you build up strength?

Fran, our weather has become more like yours....the snow comes and then it goes! Unbelievable. I like climate change in the summer, but not so much in the winter! I dislike all this freezing and then thawing. So messy.

Chris, sounds like you're doing well. You always seem to look on the bright side of things!

Kathryn, keep up the good work. I read your blog and you have things figured out for you.

Marge, I'll bet your kitchen smells really good from your Christmas baking! I love that you and hubby share a love for cooking.

We did erect our (fake) Christmas tree, but even so, I am having a hard time getting into the Christmas spirit this year.
We went to a pre-school Christmas play yesterday where they reenacted the Christmas story. It was delightful. However, our 5 year old Great Grandson, who was a shepherd, should never have been given a staff! Litttle boys love to play!

A quiet day. Sam came to spend the night with us, so all is good. John has spread ski junk all over the back bedroom again. Maybe this time he won't leave stuff lying around for a month...well I'll give him a couple of days and put everything away again! lol I am very nervous about taking Cassie to the kennel on time.

Once we light the fire in the morning most of the house is 70 and some places 72. It's just we don't want to waste the propane furnace overnight while we're sleeping. John is bringing in more regular wood now, so I can start it in the morning when I get up.

I have so much to do to get ready that I don't have time to respond to all the posts. Stay happy and safe friends while I am gone!

Good morning. Short one but didn't want to miss saying Hi to you friends. I have appt with heart doc this morning and I know it will go well. Very cold day but hey, it's December!

Chris, what is 'normal' food, LOL. You're a 'working gal', eat your meals, you need them for the energy.

Mary, you'll be back to your cabin before you know it, time seems to be flying anymore. That was a beautiful fire you and Jim had last night.

Hello to everyone, I'm not exactly rushing, I'm kind of hurrying along. Will try to come in later today. See you then.

One more night in the cabin , then we will stay at Harv's.

TV to move, frig to go off and the propane tanks to put away, then we are done. Jim needed one more night
here.

He had a big fire outside most of the afternoon and into the night.
The moon was beautiful .

It's 46 feels like 41 with a high of 52 but started out in the 30's today. I've got 7.7# to go to reach my mini goal of 135 by the end of the year then 17.7# to go to reach my goal of 125 by April of 2020. Plan on getting in an at home Shoulders/Arms workout and 20 min walk here in a bit.

I keep out place between 74-76. Hubby likes wearing shorts. He keeps a throw on day and night. We have such big windows that let in the cold air even when closed. I close the blinds at 4:00. I start dinner at 5:00 and many times use the oven. I wear warm jammies to bed and many times sleep with the covers off.

Everything went well at the VA yesterday and they will let us know in three weeks.

It is clear with no rain durning the day but raining in the evening and night. It is cold though in the 50's. I went for a walk to Starbucks and brought back a tea for the social worker who was working today. She is fasting today too. I am not doing the liquid fast I am eating healthy foods that total 500 calories. I eat a meal at lunch time that is about 400 cal and a 100 cal snack in the evening. Tonight I am craving string cheese so will have that. Making hubby grilled salmon and a baked potato.

Yes Gloria 70 is good.
Moving stuff is easy, because we did most of it already. Stubborn Jim, still has our big TV at the cabin, he is really dragging his feet for the sleeping at Harv's. He is so silly, he also doesn't realize , if he sleeps at the cabin, I still have to leave coffee, bread, stuff like that. I will be giving him a kick.
As far as being at the farm, it will be better for me, easier going out to the chickens and cats twice a day instead of once in the afternoon. Ok, back to work

Mary, 80 would be far too warm for me too, give me 70-72 and I'm comfy. All the best in moving today, with the camp closing you'll at least be more settled in his place. Hope it doesn't snow heavily till you're finished with the move!

Shirley, 58 F is far too cold indoors, even if you're bundled up! Enjoy that movie, I hear it is really good. Cassie sure went a long way off your property, can you train her to stay within your boundaries?

Marsha, so good to see you. I know what you mean about eyes hurting, the computer gives off quite a glare!

Chris, it will be chicken broth for me tonight, may put some carrots, other veggies in it, not sure yet. Glad you're not as achy and sore today.

My cleaning lady's arrangement was to clean for one hour, she's quick and thorough and can get lots done in that time. But mainly I have her come to do all my floors and clean bathroom. Today she was here for 3 1/2 hrs, mostly spent sitting with me, visiting, lol. We both love to gab, love to talk to each other. Of course she never charges for more than the one hour so that works for me too!

I've been sleeping well every night and feeling pretty good. Tomorrow is my heart doctor appt but it's a follow up from my test I had and I don't think it went badly or he would have called me in sooner. So, all is well in my little corner of the world!

It feels colder than it is I think. John keeps the house at 58 F (14.4 C). I know it's not close to freezing, but it feels cold. It's supposed to encourage us to put on a fire. I have a lot to do today. Tonight we're picking Sam up to see the Mr. Rogers movie so John will do the Costco shopping while I go to the gym. I'll make a beef stew in the Instant Pot so we can have a quick bite when we get home. I haven't let Cassie out yet. Hoping that John gets up to take her for a walk soon because it's cold!!!! I could light the fire, but I'm not very good at it.

Chris, it's always how it feels a couple of days later that determines whether or not the therapy worked. You really like your chiropractor though, so I'm sure it's all good. We both got a good night's sleep last night and what a difference it makes!

Marsha, so lovely to see you! I know that your eyes are bothered by the phone and IPad, but it's always lovely to hear from you when you can manage. Do know that you're always in our thoughts and prayers.

Time for me to get off the computer and get something done around here before we have to leave after lunch. Hi to anyone I've missed and I hope that everyone has a great day!

Hoping to get a lot done!

Kathryn, thanks for the silly face and to all of you for your support.

Shirley, that makes two of us for sure, that are sore and achy today.
The first time my appointment had me feeling worse when it was done. Ouchy! In the long run it will be good.

I think my sinuses are acting up with this weather change too and I will be taking a nap shortly.

Slow and steady wins the race.

Glad that your neighbor called about Cassie.

Kathryn, I know about struggling with wheelchairs. Mama was pretty easy, but when I was a caregiver for the gentleman I helped, he had a huge, weird one almost like pushing around a recliner. Since his muscles were so atrophied, it was difficult and awkward and when he first got it the steering hadn't been fine tuned. emoticon That was interesting to say the least.
Good luck getting yours.
Oh, Shirley is right. Caregivers are not paid much at all, sorry to say.

Fran fantastic blog. Fun all the way around.

Mary, how goes it, dear friend. Is the broken leg kitty doing alright?

BBL emoticon

I had trouble sleeping last night with the left ankle and John kept me company until 2 a.m. He is such a wonderful guy! This morning we got a call from a guy miles away who had Cassie in his garage. She had chased a deer (apparently a big one) along the river to his place. She didn't cross any roads, his house is also on the river same side as ours. We've never shown her our property boundary in that direction as we let it grow over to prevent trespassers - not that it does. Luckily he called us from her tag and John was able to go get her. She does not understand that she did wrong, so we need to think this one out.

Fran, you blog was so wonderful. Tom is just the best brother, and it's so heartwarming that the two of you are so close!

Kathryn, it's hard to remember but being a care giver is a job and not a very well paid one at that. If your care givers can better themselves they should. It's a job, not family or friends and it's important to look at it that way. John's dad always got confused about that and would be heartbroken when he thought he had lost another friend at the home. Hope that your hubby gets an electric wheelchair soon.

Chris, John hates them but I love the bars. I just use gluten free graham cracker crumbs and follow the recipe. Hope that the chiropractor can help. My ankle feels wonky, like sprained or compressed. It was bruised and swollen last night, not sure why. We need to take baby steps girl, baby steps.

I need to get off the computer and get some cooking done. We've been looking at New Hampshire and printing off maps. Hi to anyone I've missed and I hope that everyone has a great day!

Chris emoticon silly face here to make you laugh emoticon hope your appointment goes well and you feel better.

Taking hubby to the VA hospital to see about getting an electric wheelchair. He should have had one already it was my fault he doesn't have one already I asked the doctor for the wrong kind when he got out of the hospital. It is hard for me to push him some places. My leg is not hurting today so can push him up the steep ramp to his appointment. It is coming down that worries me but I can do it. At least we have no rain.

Still a tad grumpy this morning, but I am changing that!

Mary so sorry for Harv. Hope he is covered by insurance.

Chis sorry for the loss of Spark friend's sister

Our caretaker was late in today because she had an interview with UPS. I hope she doesn't get the job. I called the angecy to get a list of caretakers and hope we can get someone to come in and care for hubby. Aje will also be leaving the vet angency so we will have to get a new girl for those days too. I hate change but what will be will be. No worry of stress eating as I am mad and I don't eat when mad.

A late day, but I will head into the city to swim after I Spark. Sunday is my heavy exercise day and my ankles are tingling (apparently not a good sign). Since my ankles are already tired, and I've already done my exercises in the exercise room I'm just going to swim today and will do more tomorrow. John has done a lot of work in the exercise room and has taken out a bookcase and the eliptical and put in the stationary bike. We still need to tune up my treadmill, but it's fine for now. I have a lot to do before the trip and Christmas, but swimming is also important to me.

Gloria, you are doing well getting all those gifts wrapped! I haven't even started yet. I'm glad that it's not raining both today and tomorrow.

Fran, the bars aren't perfect, but they are delicious! lol Glad that you and Chris are getting your Christmas lists checked off. You are the baking queen, that's for sure!

Chris, here's a link to the recipe that I used

Good morning Happy Monday

Yes lets make it a healthy week.

Thank you all about Harv. As far as the fire goes right now they figure it started
with the block heater, he plugs his tractor in at night so it starts better in the cold.
Over the last 3 weeks there has been all new electrical work put in there but if their work
was faulty how would a person tell? there is nothing left.
I'm waiting for the vets to open to see what kind of price I can get on the poor kitty with the broken leg.

Mary, I'm so sorry to hear about the fire at Harv's and what a huge loss for him! I'm wondering how on earth that fire got started. Let us know when you hear anything. Very sad.

Good morning.

I popped on the computer and had a note from a sparkfriend that her baby sister had died Saturday from a brain aneurysm.
I am so very sad for her.
Please say a prayer for Marlinda and her sister Epsie. The family is in shock.
Thank you.

It is a foggy day in Richmond and interestingly enough, I woke up feeling sad.
Some days it is that way.
I will be OK.

On my second cup of coffee and getting a slower start to this Monday.
Lots of rain overnight and bed felt good.

Off to work, today and trying to make it a healthy and fit one.

Let's start the week of right!

Today turned into a very sad day.

Harv was awaken at 400am by a man banging on his door, his equipment barn was on fire.
Not one thing that he uses for his business, summer or winter is left. All burnt to nothing,
last week he had bought a little riding snow plough and blower, just like new for 4,500 he had not used it yet so he doesn't think it is covered by insurance , unless under contents , he will know more on Monday.
This is the backhoe / snow blower/ plough

Here is the little one he never used yet

I have not heard of the bars you and Fran are mentioning. Will need to look it up.

emoticon I wasn't in here yesterday. Spent the whole day gift wrapping and got finished. I do have 3 gifts for my girls that came cellophane wrapped & couldn't figure out what to do about them but now think I'll just put a sticker with their name on them. They'll see what's inside but really too big for me to try to cover up. I think I did good. This morning I am aching all over, maybe from standing so long yesterday. I've got all the daily chores done and have my supper in a small crock pot for tonight - thinly sliced potatoes & onions, steak, mushroom soup over all. I'll steam some green beans too.

Was to go out grocery shopping tomorrow with my niece but we may wait till Tuesday. Tomorrow is rain, Tuesday is snow - waiting to hear from her about which she can drive in best. I'm so glad I'm finished with gifts, both buying and wrapping!!

Chris, I hadn't known that Nick was still recovering from pneumonia, he's had a real bad bout of it and hope it clears up okay for him.

Shirley, you're one busy woman, always planning something and everything always sounds good.

Marge, enjoy having your son visiting.

Fran, my daughter Sue has become our family 'baker.' Used to be me but not anymore. She bakes loads of different kinds plus makes treats & gives us all a tray of them.

Hello to everyone, I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend!

I've just got a few minutes until I need to start the pancakes for brunch. John took Cassie for a walk as she's NUTS!!!! Mass was good this morning. I need to be quick so I can get to the gym as this is my heaviest workout day. Treadmill, bike, and swimming. Thankfully, we have steak every Sunday so it's a very quick meal when I finally get home - although we do wind up eating around 7:30 p.m. I got the baking done yesterday, so chicken enchiladas for the trip and then I'm done.

Fran, you make so many cookies! I did two types and some Nanaimo Bars and that's it. Done, possibly forever! lol

Marge, you really get an early start on the day. Our Mass starts at 10 and I barely wake up in time. Enjoy the visit with your son!

Kathryn, nice that you could find a special gift for hubby online.

Chris, sorry to hear that Nick has such a long recovery in store. Glad you popped in.

Time to start brunch. I hope that everyone has a great day!

Greetings.

A full day.

Shirley, no, Nick has not fully recovered from his pneumonia and it will take some time.
Thankfully, he is able to pick up things at work and take them home to work on.
The air where he works is bad for his lungs in this condition and he would just be one big coughing fit, if he stayed more than four hours there.
He is still using his inhaler and that helps open up the airways a bit.

He wont be able t help in my yard for sometime. All the leaf mold, and other particles in the air.
No fire in the fireplace, either, but just glad he isn't worse off.
Little things and baby steps.

I have been to Mass and then I have been baking and cleaning. Started some laundry and going to write some Christmas cards.

I did want to pop in, as I feel funny when I don't.

Enjoy your day.

Bought hubby his Christmas gift on line yesterday am getting him a flag from his home state Oklahoma. He has no idea he is getting anything as he says he doesn't do Christmas. I have a few cards to do tomorrow and than I am all set for Christmas. I am not doing a sepical meal for this holiday or any cooking. I was going to make cookies but our friend Terry says no thank you. He is looking out for his health since the heart surgery. Well that will help me as I don't need those treats around the house.

Hi everyone. We’ve been busy getting ready for Rick’s visit tomorrow. Went to 730 rosary and 800 mass this morning. Hubby made a loaf of herb onion bread and also a batch of spiced pecans. It smells so good in here right now. We got dishes done, and kitchen cleaned up and then I got waffles we put on cookie sheet to freeze brought in from freezer and bagged up. We got 3 bags of 8 waffles each set in the freezer.

Need to get a few more things done, so will stop by later and catch up on post. Enjoy the day

Another blessed day at home before I go to the gym tomorrow. I have pecans toasting in the oven to make John his favourite treats. He's still not up. That man is very relaxed which makes sense given that he falls asleep when his head hits the pillow and doesn't get up until 10 am. Mind, he works his butt off all day and spends a lot of time working outside in the cold.

Today I want to make the treats, clean kitchen floor, and do a menu plan for next week. We'll see what I get accomplished! lol

Marge, so glad that you had a wonderful birthday with family. We're the opposite because I am a cake girl and don't like pie at all. Sometimes I'll try a bite of John's at Thanksgiving, but only to see if I messed up making it. I think I'll make both waffles and pancakes, since we're going for the week. Thanks for the reheating instructions, I did need those.

Mary, I am praying for exactly that and lighting candles when I'm at my desk. Keep at it and you'll find something.

Chris, sounds like a really good time at Nick's. I take it that he has completely recovered from the pneumonia. The meal sounds delicious.

Fran, I'm so glad that your birthday was wonderful and special. So great that Tom came and it won't be long at all until you visit him. You'll get the cookies done, you're much better at baking things than I am.

Kathryn, maybe you can have a nap today.

Gloria, good that you're doing your exercises.

I'd better go get the pecans out of the oven. Luckily John likes them very toasted. lol Hope everyone has a great day!

It's 25 with a high of 54 and no chance of rain today.
