I got a lot of mixed news at the heart doctor this morning but we came away (me and my son's wife Barb) feeling that overall it was pretty good. To begin with, my stress test & other tests show I have another blockage in the lower part of my heart. But instead of sending me for another angiogram, he's taking me off one of my BP meds because my BP is way too low, plus he's putting me on nitro patches to help with the angina. We'll try this for 6 months to see if that helps with the angina, swollen legs, shortness of breath, but if not, I'll have to go for an angiogram. I told him 'no more heart bypasses, I've had two already' and he said we'll wait and see how/what these changes do. Also, my veins are big and loose (his description, lol) and that's most of the cause of the swelling of my feet and legs. He hopes the changes he's making helps with this also. I ask a million questions when I go to a doctor but that makes them explain and my son's wife said we learned more today about my heart/veins/blood, etc., then we've ever know before. This is my new heart doctor, my first visit to him. Mine retired last summer. But we liked him and I know he'll take good care of me.
Sorry that was so long but I can't seem to condense anything I write!
Mary, I agree with Nan that Jim will miss those fires. Or does he have them at Harv's place? I wish you had gotten him to take your pic all bundled up in the freezing cold, just so you could sit by the fire. You two sure love the outdoors and that's a treasure!
Nan, I'm doing my exercises faithfully, just not on the days that I'm going shopping and yes, I see and feel some improvement already in my leg and the exercises have gotten easier, at least two of them have, one is still rough to do. The physiotherapist told me the muscles that have atrophied can be reversed but the heart doc today said 'only partially!' Who am I to believe, eh? I can imagine what you meant when you said your great grandson shouldn't have been given a staff, LOL.
Shirley, I understand turning down the thermostat at night but that's mighty low. Be careful not to make yourselves ill with colds, etc.
I'm still in my 'going out' clothes, too relaxed to change. When I do, I'll just put my pj's and housecoat on. I gave my son's wife their Christmas cake I made for them and I just now had some tea and a slice of mine, it was good. I'll probably just have a sandwich for supper and have it later on. Not many Christmas cards coming this year, has anyone found that to be with them? I know of several people that say they just stopped sending out cards this year. I don't put out many but do give each of my children and close family one.
Hope you're all enjoying your Thursday!
