Mini it’s a lot of work farming. I admire farmers they are very hard workers.

Cottage traffic is awful I remember heading up to Bala(Muskokas) Ontario sometimes I could do just over 2 hours others 4-5 hours. Over the years I went less and less.

I went to the hardware store to get bolts and paint and don’t forget the beer for DH. Iain Rankin NS premier's bus was in front of me I followed to the meeting spot. I’m not a fan of his. It was a lovely day for the people that turned out. I walked my dog.

It’s a beautiful day warm with a breeze lots of sun. We need to enjoy them we haven’t had many. I hear Ontario’s weather isn’t the best either. Tomorrow is supposed to be another gorgeous day.

I made a hair appointment for Friday morning. My hair is unruly it’s getting so long.

Teri - Glad to hear your flood wasn't due to a broken dishwasher. What a productive shopping trip - I admire your stamina.

Just realized it's a long weekend coming up which of course means nothing to the retired yet still farming set. I wouldn't mind being part of the stream of vehicles heading north this afternoon to cottages and campgrounds. We've been getting away most Sundays, but I would love to rent a lakeside cottage for a day or two to really relax. One of these days....

Instead, I spent the morning food prepping and cooking, and the afternoon taking Mr. Brian the cat to the vet for "the works" - general checkup, asthma assessment & meds, distemper and other shots, de-worming. He needs to lose about five lbs (don't we all?) so no more treats - Mommy has to get tough! We should both be so lucky as dh who eats very well and stays slim and trim.

Another successful week at TOPS - down 2.25 lbs since last week and won a bag of fruit for being the best loser. emoticon

I’m the dishwasher lol I put the plug in the sink and walked away.

Today was a shopping day. It was raining and pouring at times. I felt like a drowned rat.
I got a lot of chair cushions for inside and outside at really good prices. I got a small glass patio table. I got capris and a tank top. I got more plants. Hard time finding terra cotta pots so had to resort to plastic for now. A few groceries. The pug stayed with DD while I shopped. I makes for a long day. Left at 8:40 home around 6. Grabbed Swiss Chalet for dinner.
Have a great weekend.

Oh Teri how awful to have to deal with the dishwasher mess. Does this mean you will have to buy a new dishwasher. I sure dont know where you are getting all the energy getting your house ready. It just seems never ending.
Enjoy your day today. I sure hope you get everything accomplished that is on your list.

No walk for me this morning as I have a Skype chat with my sisters.

We have painted popcorn ceilings before every place we have lived has had them. He is always planning to do stuff most of it never happens. Replacing it was probably one of them but since I said absolutely not. He’s decided they need painted I don’t think it’s a big deal. He says after he paints the trim I’ll notice they need done. The walls are all wallpaper. I’m leaving it alone I think the house came with this wallpaper. It’s a home that is built and then delivered.

I started dishwater and walked away. With my 30 second attention span it’s not a good idea. Actually DH asked what needed done. I mentioned a couple things I wanted to do the next day. I said I don’t feel like doing it right now. He started moving furniture so I went to help him. Flooded the floor the water was running for quit awhile.

Thursday was sunny bright and hot. We haven’t had many sunny hot days. I did indoor stuff. I say it’s too hot for this princess. I think the dressers and stuff will be gone this weekend. Hopefully! SIL has been working out of town for two weeks.

Today I’m off to Westville to DD’s. I’ll leave Frank with them and check out a few stores.

I need to look into patio doors. I hate this one it doesn’t open or close easily. Also holes in the screen taped. I know you can fix screen but why when I want a new door. He wants French style I don’t care the style and he will be more apt to let me do it right now.

It’s very early I’ve been awake since 5. Woke up at 1 watched tv for an hour not sure why I’m not sleeping better tonight.

I need a haircut badly it’s so thick and no style left. My hair is usually really short. I kinda like a little length now. I’m going to try someone in the community. I’m trying to keep the money local. It’s a poor area with mostly very elderly residents.

Teri - Popcorn ceilings are a pain and messy to remove - not that we've done it but I've watched a few home reno shows! It you are going to paint a popcorn ceiling you'll need a roller with a very thick pile on it to spread the paint. Do you know what caused the flooding because I'm sure you want to avoid it occurring again? Did you have a hard time finding Calling All Canadians on MFP? If you go to community you can search groups and find it and then it should be easy enough to join. My user name on MFP is the same but it's not all caps so if that's how you put it in, you wouldn't find me. You need to use Retired_Sue to find me on MFP. I have to confess that I haven't been on there for a few days It's taking you time but you'll eventually have that house the way you want it.

Donna - Glad that you enjoyed your golf outing even if your game wasn't what you'd like it to be. The exercise and social aspect are just as important - or maybe more important - than a good game.

Charlotte - As usual, you are busy with lots to do around the farm. Hope Mr. Brian get the cough under control with the meds. I figure I'll be chatting more on MFP once SP closes down but right now I'm still doing most of my chatting here. I did spend time earlier in the week clearing out the few blogs that I did have. Actually I had about three pages - many from when I first seriously started losing weight 5 and a half years ago - so it was an interesting trip down memory lane to re-read some of them. I also cleared some things out of my SM. I was surprised to find a whole accounting of my weight loss from doing a "Pound a Week" challenge with a team that I used to be on. I'd forgotten that we put the weight template into our drafts folder in our SM to update and copy to the thread each week. I actually copied all of those to a document to keep on my computer. I also copied a few of my blogs but deleted most of them after reading them. I really don't know what happens to things when SP closes down but I am going to go through my saved recipes and print off any that I haven't already printed if they are recipes that I definitely know I want to keep or try. And I'll be clearing things off of my SP as well and out of my SMs

Our grandson is here until next Tuesday/Wednesday, Our daughter arrived with him around dinner time on Tuesday and stayed as well overnight going back yesterday afternoon. She'll come back next Tuesday to get him and spend the night again. Hubby thought he'd take us to the park while he grocery shopped today but the weather had other plans! It rained most of the day - of course it's sunny and clear now - so our GS went shopping with grandpa and helped out. He's used to amusing himself so spent the day playing with what's left of a K'nex set our son had and playing a few video games. He's also reading a couple of books a day from my stash although he's pretty much outgrowing them. Maybe we'll get to the bookstore one day but tomorrow we'll probably go to the park and take a walk on the trail - although he brought his bike so he'll be biking- and let him play on the playground or maybe go for a swim if it isn't too cool.

Thanks for the advice I said no to the ceilings. We have to do the bathroom ceiling it’s peeling but it is a small room. It looks like it will be easy to peel off. Let’s hope.

I went shopping today. Took my dog with me I was running in and out. It wasn’t hot today. I found the farmer that I got my rhubarb from. He delivered it to my DH’s aunts. They sell meat as well. I will check it out when I need meat.

We had a lot of rain today. The mosquitoes are very bad.

My niece and SIL were here for a short visit. It was funny and entertaining.

Didn’t do much in the house today.

Teri I cant believe how much work you have to do with this move. It must not have had anyone who cared looking after it for awhile. I bet it will be refreshing when it is done. Good luck!
Popcorn ceiling might be better left to professionals.

Golfed this morning and it is nice to be able to sit and put my feel up. Not too good a game today but that is golf. A silly woman showed up instead of my usual. Haha

Teri - You're making great progress getting your home the way you like it - good for you. Some advice - removing popcorn ceilings is a messy, dirty job to be avoided unless absolutely necessary (speaking from personal experience here).

Donna - thanks. I'll look into "friending" on MFP. It's just that I've been too busy lately to do much on that site, but will get to it.

Today is running about day. This morning, I delivered all the vacation bible school material our church no longer needs to the director of youth programming at the New Life Church in Stonewall. Stopped at the rec centre's little library on the way home to return a book and found three more. Almost time to start lunch prep. I did think about picking up the daily special at the rec centre cafe, but I didn't think dh would go for Tater Tot Poutine ...sure didn't sound like a Spark recipe! Back to Stonewall this afternoon for a haircut and pick up some asthma meds at the vet for Mr. Brian to tide him over until his appointment on Friday.
I ran out of his pills last week & hoped he would last until Friday but no such luck. He started coughing last Sunday & is slowly getting worse. The vet has to check him over at least once a year to renew the prescription, plus it's time for shots too.

More hot and stuffy weather - not so much smoke from the wildfires though.

I’m having a hard time finding people on MFP.
I tried groups Calling All Canadians it so nothing found. I tried Sue’s name when I read it awhile ago. Still nothing. If anyone can sort of help with step by step they would be great. I set some things up today to start tracking etc. I’ll see if I get gung-ho or just occasionally.

It’s been humid here the last few days this princess is staying in the house.
My dog has good listening days then not at all. So on the leash again.
We got the beds moved a few days ago. We moved stuff out of the living room. I have one spare room all set up. The other I have to clean off the bed. There is still stuff to go across the road in that room. Today I will get that done.
I’m
Going to make some gluten free bread today a recipe from Spark.
Last night I flooded the kitchen it took every towel I own to clean it up. DH helped until it was almost done then I told him to go to the store and his friends. He was going when the flood started. I got all the towels in the washer and almost did it again. I need to stay where I’m doing something because my attention span is about 30 seconds.

I bet the kitchen hasn’t been this clean in awhile, The lower inside cupboards are very clean and better organized than when I put my stuff away. Organizing it better was on my list of things to do so now that’s fine as well.
I’m going to the dump today it’s been about a week. I’ll see if DH wants me to pick up the paint we decided on a colour for the trim. He also wants to do the ceiling. It’s a popcorn ceiling he wanted to replace it, I said it is too big a job leave well enough alone. It still looks good a little freshen up might be ok. I think even painting it is going to be a big job. I need to figure out how to clean around the inside of the skylight in the kitchen.
This is very long but I think I caught up on everything,

Our Spark-time is getting shorter by the day emoticon three weeks or so to go. I signed up with My Fitness Pal but haven't started using it regularly yet for tracking or chatting. It's too easy to keep on with Spark until the axe falls. Does anyone know what will happen to our data? I've deleted almost everything from my Sparkpage and plan to "resign" from the site on Aug. 16 Never did get into blogging, using the daily planner and other special features and never got excited about collecting points so no exciting data to mine there.

Not much new happening here - just trying to keep cool, calm and collected. Temps continue in the high 20's/low 30's and no rain in sight.

Teri - You will eventually get that house in tip top shape! I imagine that it is hard to keep floors clean with three dogs. I know that my MIL used to always be vacuuming when they had their dogs just to keep up with the dog hair. Enjoy the auction - they can be fun - and the run to Costco.

Charlotte - I wish I could send the rain that is falling right now to both you and Donna to water those crops and help quench those forest fires. We really do NOT need it. It's cooler today too - temp dropped from 24 this morning to about 20 now. It's hard for the farmers to have to sell off stock and see their crops being dried out or destroyed. emoticon Yesterday was a lovely warm day with a nice breeze just cool enough to be refreshing. I'm sure that it was wonderful to see your friends from TOPS who have obviously all been working hard to get rid of those pounds. Absolutely happy dancing time! emoticon Good move to have help to clean out the guest house. Sometimes just clearing out the clutter is work enough and it's SO easy to drop stuff off in an unused area until it finds a home or it's way back to it's proper home. Enjoy the company when it arrives and stay cool if you can!

Donna - You too need some - or all - of this rain. We've noticed the price of gas seems to be a bit higher than usual even around here this summer but its still about 30 cents a litre less for us here than your prices. GULP indeed!

Not too much going on around here. We've been watching the Olympic coverage although much just gets repeated during the day - at least on CBC. We did watch the very scaled down opening ceremonies last night. Not much news of mom. My sister called a while ago and she's heard very little from my brother who is in to see mom every day so I assume that things are pretty much status quo. My sister really does NOT like not going on. My mom often told the story of how when my sister was very young, if someone came to visit in the evening after we were in bed, she'd wake up and cry and fuss until mom got her up to see who was there. Then she'd go back to bed and to sleep! They are starting a long term care file on mom and my sister thought there was supposed to be another assessment yesterday but that doesn't seem to have occurred. She'll call me again if she gets more news from my brother. I had a nice walk downtown when the weather was lovely to stock up on coffee and look after another errand. Even poked my head in a couple of stores that I generally don't visit and got sticker shock - not that I need any more clothes because I have a cupboard full already and few places to go to wear anything! Other than that, hubby and I are just resting up before our grandson arrives later on Tuesday to stay for a week. That will keep up a bit busy. Sure hope the rain moves west next week!

Yeah for good results at TOPS Charlotte. And not so yeah on the lack of rain, it sure is a concern for half of our continent. Good plan getting someone in to help with the cleaning. Hopefully it will give your hip a break. Isnt it nice to be looking forward to company again.

Another appointment for us this morning and a Costco run for gas. It has gone down a bit today. $157.9 a litre. Gulp!!!

emoticon 30 degrees plus seems like the new normal these days. That plus the humidity are real energy zappers. The cats have the right idea - lots of naps in the shade! We did get some rain lately but not nearly enough. What the heat isn't drying up the grasshoppers are eating. The cattle and other livestock producers in particular are in real trouble and many are starting to sell off their herds. Not a good situation.

My TOPS meetings started up again last night. So great to see everyone again. All of us weigh less than we did in June when meetings were cancelled so lots of happy dancing. Now to keep that going. Too bad all the heat can't melt some pudge away!

Hired someone to give the guest house a thorough housecleaning for our visitors arriving Aug. 15. Now time to start "cleaning up for the cleaner" i.e. tidying up all the stuff that got put there on the way to somewhere else etc. Nothing like the prospect of visitors to get the cleanup wheels greased and moving. Dh is finally rounding up garbage & recyclables for a serious dump run tomorrow so that will help a lot. The garage especially was looking like hoarder heaven. emoticon

My DD came to get her dog this morning. She actually came to see her cousin the favourite member of the family. He’s a great guy. He lives in Halifax. It’s funny the people from Halifax come for a few hours or overnight for 1 night and more than ready to leave. The people from Ontario hate to leave, lol.

Today we moved the fridges and kitchen table into the addition or now the dining room. It’s been that way in the past. I moved everything from the kitchen DH I’d scrubbing the floor now. I may do a 2nd time after it dries. It was pretty sticky and with 3-4 dogs running around daily it gets dirty. I’m making spaghetti squash lasagna after the floor dries so I can take some to DD’s tomorrow.

Tomorrow DD and I are off to Dartmouth DD is an auction junkie. She keeps saying I won ??? I say you bought ???. Lol then Costco stop. I’ll look for furniture sometimes they have nice stuff. I keep changing my mind of what style furniture for the living room.

I might stop at Subway and get the real Atlantic lobster on gluten-free bread.

Teri - I'm glad that the van was an easy fix - or at least much less expensive than a transmission! It sounds like you're going to have to strap those dogs in or do something so that they can't jump out of the car when you get out! They certainly made you get your exercise!

It's a lovely summer day here - not too hot but warm enough with a nice breeze and little humidity. Seems like a good day to get out on the deck to do some reading so I might do that later. When my sister called last night, she had really no news about mom - everything seemed to be pretty much the same as it had been. My brother had a errand he was hoping to do today out of town so my sister might go to visit mom. She thought her son and maybe his girls would be coming to visit but thought she could get in a visit before they got there.
Nothing exciting going on around here but that's fine with me. I don't mind quiet days.

Have a good day!

It was just spark plugs on my van misfiring. It was $421 so that was great.
I’m only going to tell you about my morning today. DH and I with our 3 dogs went to get my van. I went in and came to take the 2 dogs from DH. The pug decided to walk instead of jumping in the vehicle, I put the Yorkie in the van. Got the pug got him in the passenger side by the time I got to the drivers side the yorkie locked the van. Now that’s happened once before and I never leave the van running or my keys in the van without the window open. So I went back in the dealership they opened it for me. Now to go home. I stopped for gas I got out and so did the pug the station was very busy. I went after the pug fast. I finally got him turned around to go back to the van and the Yorkie was coming to me. I grabbed a dog in each arm headed back to the van. Then I saw my DH walking towards me. I said where were you when I needed you? He said getting my dog back in my car. I said didn’t you see Frank get out, he said I saw Dexter. Now Dexter is a teacup yorkie so tiny, but he missed the pug. Lol. I tell my DD she said I told you to leave them home next time you’ll listen, I can laugh now.

Charlotte - Can't say for sure whether I sent the rain or not but I'm glad that you got a few hours of moisture to water those crops. I hope that you get more as you need it. So sorry to hear about Mr. Reggie. Even barn cats can worm their way into our hearts and I know that it's always tough to lose a "pet" even if barn cats aren't really "pets". Glad that you had a good time visiting with the cousins. And now to have company coming from the States - that will be fun! I know that hubby's younger brother was talking about making a trip up here this summer and if the border is opened they he and his wife (he has dual citizenship, she is American) who have both been vaccinated, should be able to visit. We haven't seen them for four years so it would be great to catch up if we can.

Teri - Sounds like you've been busy with visitors too. It does take time to decide exactly how one wants to decorate. Were you able to make sure that there was not asbestos in the linoleum that was ripped up? Some of those older products are full of it. Happy shopping on Friday. You'll have a busy day and a full vehicle I'm sure when you're done.

I had to go back to figure out when I last posted because I knew it was a few days. We had a good productive chat at my brother's place the other day and came up with a list of nursing homes where we would consider putting mom including a few in our area. Not convenient for my sister and brother but mom could always be moved again if she ended up down here because there was a spot available here first. Ideally we'd like to have her in the Muskoka area - very handy for my brother and a reasonable distance for either my sister or I to travel to visit. However yesterday when my brother went to see mom, she seemed better and more alert. Apparently she also had a bladder infection which is clearing up. The knee is getting better and I think the pneumonia is gone. The bladder infection might have been mentioned to my brother last week but I just heard about it last night when my sister called. The joys of getting news third hand! Anyway, my sister thinks that mom could end up at home in another few days or so and if she has regained mobility enough to be independent, they should be able to manage with the support that is currently in place. We have our grandson coming next Tuesday for a week or so I won't be available while he's here. When we got back to town on Monday it was almost dinner time to hubby and I dined out inside a restaurant - one we hadn't been to which opened up last year. Yesterday I did take myself down to the park but not until early afternoon and the two knitters who were there were leaving. Others had been there earlier - the meet at 10 in the morning - and had already left. I'll have to try to get myself organized earlier in the day if I'm going to join them! I went for a nice walk on the trail even though it was warm and rather humid. There was rain in the offing - one of the reasons I hesitated to head to the park earlier - so I didn't walk too long and did get home about a half hour before the rain arrived. This morning hubby took our vehicle in for detailing so we aren't going anywhere as they'll want it until later this afternoon so the carpets dry after being shampooed. It's a nice summer day here - humidity is gone and there's a little breeze out there. I think we're actually in for a few dry days here.

Donna - Wishing you some much needed rain - especially to control those fires out there!

Hi everyone we’ve had light rain and dampness. Humidity I’ve pretty much staying in. DD is bringing the other dog over they are putting in the new doors. He will bark the whole time. She has to come back tomorrow anyway. A nephew is coming and she wants to visit with him. A cousin from Toronto has been here for the week staying next door at his dad’s. Him and his wife were here Friday night for a few hours it was nice. There isn’t many in his family that I want to visit with. I just go in my room and close the door if they are here.
We were moving stuff yesterday and found a mouldy spot so I cleaned it and letting it dry for a couple days. We ripped the linoleum off that area. There was a leak in that area years ago.
Then DH noticed there’s linoleum under the carpet I want taken out. If it’s in decent shape that will work until we put in the new floor.
I keep changing my plans for furniture. I’m going to Dartmouth on Friday DD has auction stuff to pick up and we are doing a Costco run.
I hope all is well for everyone stay dry or cool depending where you live. This year has been a hot dry season for a lot of areas.

That sounds like a good rain Charlotte And I bet the farmers were happy. Sorry about Mr Reggie. I know it hurts.

No rain here and we sure could use it.

emoticon We had several hours of rain last night, so if that was from you, Sue, thank you very much emoticon The air feels so fresh and clean this morning with the temp at 20 for now. The ideal time to do some outside stuff if my back wasn't so cranky. After my spark & coffee time, I'll hike around the yard a bit which usually helps loosen things up.Too much sitting yesterday. We had a grand supper and visit with dh's cousins - all vaccinated.so our bubble has expanded by six. Lots of catching up on all the family events since our last get together almost a year ago. Dh's birthday cake was very well-received emoticon but not completely consumed - about half is now saved in the freezer for his actual birthday. It was such a treat to sit down to a meal I didn't have to cook that I was quite undisciplined! emoticon So it's short rations for the rest of this week. emoticon

Sad news to report - our barn cat patriarch and my special boy, Mr. Reggie, was killed on the highway earlier this week. He was a roamer so not an unexpected end, but always hard to see. Dh buried him under the willow tree just outside the kitchen window. I try not to get too attached to the outside cats but there are always exceptions. emoticon

On the good news front, the Texas relatives (dh's sister and husband) are visiting in mid-August, As dual citizens, they can now cross the border. Their last visit was in 2019 so will be great to see them. They're not bringing their motor home this time and want to stay in the little house which means time to fire up the vacuum cleaner and boot out the spiders. With no visitors for over a year, the guest house has turned into a bit of a catch-all, I'm afraid, so we'll be busy!

Time to get that hike done before the heat sets in. Have a good week everyone! emoticon

Charlotte - If I could I send you some of our rain! We've had a couple of dry days and actually saw sun today. Temps have been average summery and at the moment humidity is low. However it seems to be far too dry west of Ontario. Good luck with the cats getting them into a cage. Having barn cats around is helpful but you do want to control the population. Fun to have the kittens to entertain. My weight just stays in the same range - up a bit then down a bit then up a bit. That's fine - not too concerned about losing much more but sometimes it would be nice to bump it down another pound or two and try to keep it there.

Donna - Any left over rain I'd gladly send to help get those forest fires under control. I know that the air quality in some places is not good and maybe that's drifted down your way too.

Tomorrow we'll head up to my brother's to see what plans we can put in place for mom. He did manage to catch up with the doctor today who mentioned releasing her in 3-4 days which I suppose from a physical standpoint is reasonable but mom is still needing assistance to go to the bathroom and is really out of it mentally apparently. Tomorrow my sister is going to go in to visit as they'll be passing by on the way to my brother's place. She's interested to see if mom will know who she is especially when she's wearing a mask. My brother is the main visitor, sister is the alternate. We're not sure that mom is going to qualify for assisted living as she'd never get herself to meals a the right time. My brother is now bandying about palliative care but that would depend if we can get the needed support. I suppose if mom is classed as palliative, we might but we don't know for sure. It will be good to sit down together to discuss this. Pretty quiet day here but there is more rain/thunderstorms in the offing over the next few days. Too bad they can't blow themselves well to the west to where people really DO need rain.

I sure hope we all get some rain soon. It is nice to have this lovely summer weather but we all need that moisture. Maybe we all need to do a rain dance, BC. Would love lots to help with the fires. Crazy weather for sure.

Another hot and hazy day in store. If our Texas relatives could visit, they'd feel right at home here in these sizzler temperatures. The drought is taking its toll on hayfields and pastures. Many farmers are worried about feed shortages and several are starting to reduce cattle herds. We get calls every day from folks searching for hay, but all the bales that dh has harvested so far is spoken for. He's worried that there won't be enough of that for his regular customers. Thank goodness our wells are still OK, but I'm still conserving water mostly out of habit.

On the bright side though, the mama cats and kitten crew continue to entertain. This morning some were "rasslin" in the pan of water I put out by the garage for them. Their flight zones are getting shorter and most will now come running toward the house when they see me (the food lady) on the platform. I've also been working on two young males who stopped by and decided to stay. They're almost tame enough to get into a cage and off to the vet for the "operation". Wish me luck, emoticon

Just taking a coffee and Sparking break while the laundry is underway. Then making dh's field lunch and delivering it en route to town for groceries and to pick up dh's birthday cake for tomorrow night's supper with his cousins. Lost another pound this week - hoped the heat would have melted off more, but it somehow doesn't work that way. emoticon
Sue - Changes seem in store for your mom's living arrangements. It's good that you and your siblings can discuss options and make the best decision together. Not all families are able to do that well.
Teri - Glad you enjoyed the mackeral. My dad used to pickle it in vinegar with spices. He called it "Soused Mackeral"; now I guess it would be suishi. I sure ate a lot of that and other fresh saltwater fish growing up by the ocean in NS.

emoticon to Donna, Carol, Paulette and Marty. Hope you're staying cool, calm and collected.

Teri - I know that my hubby - who tends to see things as a glass half full - thinks that there'll be problems and that it will negatively impact me, but my sister has been very clear that this is not a decision that she'll make but one that we all need to make together. My brother is the executor of mom's estate but I do think he and my sister have joint power of attorney. My sister says I have POA too, but I don't think legally I have any clout (I'm the youngest). However I know that they won't make any decision without my input. Hubby's brother who was the executor of his mother's estate just kind of barreled through and made a lot of decisions about disposing of my MIL's things without seeking any input. He and his wife were in her house cleaning things out while she was still in the hospital and were upset that we wouldn't go to help! At that point we fully expected her to return home and we weren't going to have anything to do with getting rid of things - I don't care if they were old clothes that didn't fit - behind her back.
I'm glad that you're finding the energy to get things done that need to be done. It must be that fresh maritime air! Having someone else to cook for might be helping with you doing more cooking. I know when I'm at mom's trying to come up with something that she'll be able to eat and enjoy helps me be a bit motivated to cook because hubby does our dinner cooking at home.
There was pretty extensive damage i n Barrie unfortunately from that tornado Going to be some very busy roofers and contractors in the Barrie area for the next while!
My brother did get to visit with mom for a while who was up walking with a walker when the physio therapist was in. He was able to get some information about assisted living facilities from the lady who was trying to do the assessment (she got little out of mom but had talked to my sister) so we're going to meet at my brother's place on Monday to go over the information that he has Ontario reached stage three of reopening so restaurants will now be able to have indoor dining again! emoticon

Sue I hope things get sorted out with your mom soon. It will be a tough decision sometimes as things change another route is the only option. The one thing your family has going sounds like you all want what’s best for your mom and you get along well. A lot of families can’t agree on anything.

This morning I went to get my lids I didn’t need jars. I have 4 quarts left for tomorrow. I’m not sure my plans yet. Jam or freeze. I got DH a drill and impact gun while I was out, He needs things he borrows from people but when asked what he needs/want for birthday or Christmas you get I can’t think of anything. He had two drills here one I brought it was mom’s the other is his BIL’s. He wants a pressure washer and shop vac. He asked if I bought mine. I said no and why don’t you tell people what you need. So I’m on the lookout for both those things.

I’m amazing myself with my energy and how I’m adapting to having to cook. Lol when it was just me I didn’t really make a lot of meals. I didn’t eat at regular times or every meal. He likes to have every meal etc. He tells me he can do it himself. He doesn’t but he can lol.

I think his sister is coming over tonight and they are having a tequila night. I’ll probably sit with them for a few minutes then come in my room, I’m not a drinker we’ll see how it goes.

The nieces DD’s love Frank and want to be with him all the time. They are 5 and 7 the 5 year old never stops talking she’s really funny. I take them for our nighttime walk. They come over until I’ve had enough then I give them a treat and send them home. Frank loves the addition. I took him into town with me this morning.

Tonight I cooked fresh mackerel and potatoes and sweet potatoes. I got the recipe off the internet it was actually a Gord Ramsey recipe.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement with my house situation. I’m pretty impressed with how much I’m getting done in a day.

A friend in Bradford told me they were under a tornado warning earlier. She was going to go out to talk to me. The home said they are telling residents to stay in the wind was picking up. I hope the damage isn’t too bad in Barrie.

Donna - Mom is actually in an area of the hospital intended for longer term care I think. My sister talked to someone from the hospital and did a bit of an assessment on the phone. When she tried to talk to mom, mom just smiled and waved at her. Of course if mom doesn't have her one hearing aid that is working in her ear, she's not going to hear anything! My brother was going in to visit her today.

Teri - I hope that you find out what's going on with your van. Transmission isn't the lease expensive repair but certainly is less than replacing it if it is otherwise in good condition. It's tough to be without your own vehicle though and have to drive something less familiar. I'm glad that you had a good visit with your hubby's aunt. I'm sure that she appreciated having someone to chat with for a while. It's tough looking after someone with dementia. You're going to have LOTS of jam to eat - or give away! You definitely have been busy! It's nice when you can find local producers to supply fresh fruit and veggies at such reasonable prices as long as you don't end up with more than you can use.

Charlotte - I'm glad that you got a bit of rain. Hopefully the grasshoppers don't cause too big a problem for your neighbours. Sorry about the smoke but it knows no borders! I'm sure getting together with the cousins will be just as enjoyable as the meal.

The new mattress that we bought arrived a while ago so all the bedding came off and the duvet, mattress cover and duvet cover have all been washed up ready to go on once the bed "expands" a bit. We bought a Simba mattress - yes it came in a box - and with the memory foam, it can take a while to reach it's full thickness. The duvet is still damp - has to be washed on gentle cycle and dried on a low setting so it's stretched out on the other bed until it is dry enough to stuff back into it's cover.
My sister got the unhappy news that at best, they could provide another one to two hours of assistance for them with mom which is not going to be sufficient if mom can't be as mobile as she was. After finding her on the floor the other night where we think she might have injured her knee, she really needed help getting up and down and moving. Right now they have her in a wheelchair at the hospital because of course she doesn't have her walker with her. My brother will hopefully be able to give us a better picture after he visits. We may have to consider getting her into assisted living and then a nursing home. Looks like my sister brother and I will need to make some tough decisions. We haven't had mom's name in at any facility because the plan was always to keep her at home but that only works as long as she has sufficient mobility.
We've had a bit of a a storm here but a tornado warning came up a while ago on my phone, Nothing that threatening looking outside but hubby did see a few minutes ago that a tornado touched down in the south end of Barrie.

Have a good evening.

emoticon Just a quick check in - looks like a lot going on in everyone's life. Wow! Things can sure get busy and change in a hurry. The heat has slowed me down quite a bit but the show must go on. We had one whole hour of rain on Monday which helped a little. Now the grasshoppers have moved in. Fortunately, we don't have much to interest them but others aren't so lucky. Still very dry and smoky from wildfires in NW Ontario too. I've been picking saskatoon berries for fresh eating, but decided to buy ten lbs from a local commercial grower. Just finished putting most of it in the freezer and saved some fresh to make stew and a pie or two.

Looking forward to Sunday evening - dh's cousins have invited us over for supper to celebrate the July birthdays, mainly dh's 75th which is coming up on the 24th. Since his uncle passed away, he's now the patriarch of the family, as his cousins love to remind him. emoticon

I started the day by going to the dump and my van felt weird I drove a bit more and headed home instead of into town. The engine light started flashing. It says don’t drive I know the difference between when the engine light comes on and it’s something to do with the gas cap. When I called Chrysler they said is it flashing I said yes off and on. So I’m having it towed into the dealership but they are all busy until Wednesday.
I’m pretty sure it’s the transmission. We’ll see I have 185,500 km on it it has been really good, I’ll see the cost and decide it’s a 2016. It’s in really good shape.
I decided to continue with my plans I took DH’s car. I went to see his aunt. Her husband has dementia as well as not being healthy. We had a good visit because he was sleeping. I mentioned rhubarb she offered me some from her freezer. Then she called the farmer that she gets hers from and he drove the rhubarb and strawberries right over. It was $5 a lb in the store. I got 2 big bags for $5, He also grows beets and zucchini he said he has everything people in the area want. I got his number I’ll get beets and zucchini, I have so many strawberries I made 5 batches of jam today. Strawberry/, strawberry rhubarb/, strawberry rhubarb and pineapple/, strawberry rhubarb pineapple and banana. I’ve never made the one with banana before. Scotiabank called me today to tell me how powerful my wording was in a survey they sent about my call. She was also in Nova Scotia. We talked about jam she said banana strawberry jam was so good. I still have more berries to deal with tomorrow. I am running out of lids. I’m going to have to check a couple stores in the morning to see who has them before I drive, I’m in bed I’m in a lot of pain. I can’t stand long or I get really bad back pain and can barely move. It will be an early night.

There was no sorting or anything today. I won’t be going out much as I don’t like driving DH’s car. I haven’t tried his truck I guess I could try it.

Sue I hope your mom feels better soon. Hopefully your sister gets a good night sleep while she has a little break.

Sue I am sorry to hear your Mom has pneumonia. Maybe it is something we just dont know enough about. As you know she is in the best place for her right now and hopefully the necessary help will happen a lot quicker now. It should be a relief for the whole family. I hope your Mom gets her rest too.

Teri it sounds like you really moved into chaos. Its a good thing you showed up when you did!

Took care of a few errands this morning, medical appointment and a car wash. Now it is housework and laundry.

No rest for the wicked.

Teri - It's great that you had some help from your hubby to get rid of stuff. I know that I tend to hang on to things too and it can be hard to get rid of them but when I ask myself if I really need to keep something I haven't used in ages, or need X number of whatever the item might be. You definitely seem to be making progress.

My sister called me yesterday afternoon to let me know that the paramed nurse recommended mom go to the hospital to have the knee checked out so they called the ambulance. The nurse stayed until mom was taken off and gave the EMTs all the necessary information. The EMTs also said that they'd do what they could to ensure the hospital staff knew mom should have someone with her. My brother met them at the hospital and was allowed to stay with mom. Later he called my sister to let her know that they were going to admit mom. I assume that they had x-rayed her knee or were going to do it. They mentioned doing an assessment and my brother also heard them mention palliative care. Later last night, my sister had another call from the hospital as they wanted more information including whether or not my sister and BIL needed more help. They also said that mom had pneumonia which we found strange. Anyway, mom is in the hospital, hopefully for a couple of days anyway - maybe longer - probably the best place for her to be right now. I'm hoping that my sister had a good night's rest. I have contact information so I can call the hospital to get updates on mom.
We had storms late yesterday afternoon and into the evening. Today we're getting more sun and it doesn't seem to be as humid which is good. I was not that late getting up but I did get busy with some things in the kitchen this morning so I'll have to go do my workout in a little while.

The sun is hot there is a breeze. DH really worked hard today he brought me piles of boxes. We cleared clutter out of a back room leading to the basement. So much crap moos and mops. Stuff I thought had gone down the basement in December. I ventured down there and he said a lot of the stuff was there’s. I just took a load to the dump. I just got rid of the bag of garbage, recycling trucks were waiting to unload so I’ll go again in the morning. I’m sure I’ll have more stuff as well. I really feel like we accomplished a lot. I was sweating and told DH to go or we would keep working. I was trying to finish up the stuff we had laying all over waiting to be bagged or taken to the van or truck. I’m really impressed and proud of him it’s hard for him to part with anything he’s pretty much letting me get rid of anything I don’t want.
I guess I should go think about dishes and dinner.

Teri - It's obvious that you and your hubby are NOT on the same page when it comes to what constitutes clutter or a mess in the house! It's a big job getting it all the way you want it to be but I'm sure you'll get there. It is quite different when the stores are not just a short drive away but I'm sure you'll get used to planning and making the most out of any shopping expedition so that you get everything that you need.

Donna - I'm glad that you enjoyed your golf game. I never worried about how good my game was because it was NEVER good, but did see the time on the course as good exercise especially since the little course near mom had a few holes next to each other up and down a large hill! Definitely more help is needed with mom. The organization that my sister called three times yesterday had still not returned her call when I was talking to her a while ago.
In one of our texts yesterday I suggested that mom probably injured her knee when she fell out of bed (or whatever she did) the other night since she's complaining about the pain and favouring it when she walks. I asked if the paramed nurse could come in to see it and she was supposed to be there this morning. Mom's PSW was there and thought it might have fluid on it and maybe it should be x-rayed - at least that's what she thinks the nurse will suggest. Mom of course could not get in and out of the bathtub for her shower - she's so afraid of falling again - so she didn't have her shower. If my sister doesn't hear from the first group that she called yesterday, she will move on and call the next one. Getting a response from someone seems to be the main problem. i don't think it's a lack of concern - more a case of not having sufficient staff, especially in a rural area. Mom's also not feeling like eating but the pandemic isolation package that she got about a month ago had a couple of bottles of Ensure in it so that's always an option. I know that mom used to keep Boost on hand to give to dad when she couldn't get him to eat. My sister will be in touch later when the nurse has been there and we'll see what she suggests. The last time we sent mom to the hospital they would NOT let anyone stay with her which was upsetting. I'm hoping since we're now in Stage 2 and moving to stage 3 of reopening in three days, that they'd at least let mom have someone with her this time IF we send her down to the hospital for x-rays.
Quiet day here. I thought about going to the park but there are storms in the forecast although they have yet to materialize so it might have been okay. It's just over cast but it is warm

It was lovely golfing this morning and I am sure glad we werent there this afternoon. Its pretty warm now. Golf game was so so but the exercise was good.

Terri you really have your hands full everywhere in that house. I guess no one paid any attention to all the stuff sitting around. I am sure you will have it ship shape in no time. I th8nk I would be overwhelmed.

Sue it does sound like more help is needed with your Moms care. I really feel sorry for your sister trying to recover from her major surgery and dealing with your Mom. It does sound like there needs to be an adjustment. I am so sorry to hear her knee is sore from her fall. She is lucky she didnt bread anything.
I loved your pics of the VW vans. They are so artistic and fun. I would have enjoyed seeing them too.
nice to hear from you Carol. I bet your knitting for the baby was much appreciated.

I need to remember to turn the heat pump and dams in in the morning, DH doesn’t get bothered by the heat he actually had a coat on today and long sleeve shirt. I’m in a tank and capris and I’m sweating. This house gets hot fast.
I went shopping again to finish what I didn’t get Saturday. The people are so nice and helpful and friendly. I had a hard time finding the bank so I decided I don’t need money. Hoping the strawberry farm had debit, it didn’t but it had etransfer which is just fine. I got $54 that’s two flats. Great big beautiful series some are huge one looked like 8 berries grown together. I’ll make jam tomorrow or maybe later today.

Everything is so far away I need to plan. I went to Dollarama, Canadian Tire and bought a rice maker and steamer. I left mine behind DH said he had one it’s a tiny little one serving one. I debated 6 cup or 13 cup I went with the 13 cup, I had a $100 gift card from DD for Christmas. I just got it before I left.
DH has a death wish he had my dog off leash and took him with him to a friends and had him off leash and their house is just off the highway. My dog has never been off leash since he walked in front of the truck or under the porch. DH doesn’t understand he’s fast and he’s gone before you realize. I’m either going to have to stay home or take him with me. If I can’t trust him to do as I say.

I’m just trying to cool off and take it easy for awhile.

I did my coloured sand craft today. I got sand to do my sand and seashell craft in a huge vase.

I cleaned out the freezer to get my food in. DH and I have an issue he keeps the food fit the dogs. There is stuff from 2019 freezer burn and it should have been thrown out after the 3 days with no hydro. I’m surprised they are all alive. Stomachs of steel I’m sure. I texted across the road about room in their freezer for their food. They said their freezer was full so it’s gone to the garbage as well. I ran it right to the dump while DH was at his friends. 2nd trip to the dump today. I took donations and recycling this morning. Garbage and donations this afternoon. DH had a couple weeks to go through everything. I said this mess a driving me crazy he didn’t know what mess I was talking about. There’s still boxes and stuff sitting out in the open in the entry area. I’m trying to get as much done as fast as I can. It’s so hard when there is so much to go through and move.
Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny all I’ll believe it when I see it. We’ve had sun off and on. We’ve had heat and humidity.

Thanks Donna - You know all too well how difficult it is to care for a loved one. I'm thinking that mom must have hurt her knee when she fell out of bed the other night because she's complaining that it's very sore and is favouring it when she walks. I suggested that my sister call the paramed nurse who comes in to check mom and BIL every month to see if she can come in to look at it. They'll come tomorrow morning. Mom also didn't want to eat so I suggested that my sister try to give her some Ensure that was in the pandemic isolation bag that mom got a few weeks ago when I was there. Mom used to give that to dad when he didn't want to eat, My sister forgot that it was there in the fridge. My sister also has a call into the association that did the initial assessment on mom when they determined that some PSW help would be sufficient. That was maybe three years ago - certainly at least two - and mom is going to need more help at this rate.

Teri - maybe you need to tell the relatives who refuse to clear out their stuff that if they don't move it out by a specific date you'll put it out on the side of the road with a "free" sign on it! They obviously are having no problem living without it all this time! Great job increasing the walking! Nice when you have some walking companions that aren't four footed. Sounds like you're settling in nicely.

Carol - Thanks! It is tough. We all pitched in to help mom with dad especially the last few months before he passed. We just got him into a nursing home about a week before he died because it was going to be too much for mom to carry on. I was there for five days at least at a time helping her with him all summer but I had to go back to school and there was no way that my brother who was also still working in Toronto and sister who was working too, could be around enough to help. We might be getting to that point with mom -we'll see if it's just a knee problem that has created this most recent difficulty. You always seem to have some knitting on the go! I've been very unmotivated since I stopped meeting with my knitting group over a year ago. With this summer weather they are no doubt meeting in the park again but I didn't get there last week. I should try to go tomorrow if it isn't raining but it's in the forecast again and goodness knows, we really don't need it.
Going to post some pics of our 'street art' or sculptures might be more accurate. They are all in the form of VW vans/campers and the theme is "Road Trip to Mariposa". These are a few of my favourites. I didn't get pics of all of the art and I still have 25 pics. They are decorated on both sides so I have two pics for most of them. And of course many of them have a real 'hippie' vibe!

Sue, you and your family do have your hands full looking after your mom. My hubby & I did a lot of that for both of his parents (different cities mom was in our town but dad was 2 hours away)
Donna, It is good your hubby was good enough that you could have some me time.
Charlotte, I wish I could send you some of our rain. We have had a lot more than our share.
Teri, sounds like you are getting a lot done. Congratulations on weight loss.

I have been cleaning but mostly doing knitting that I need to have done ASAP. My sister will be coming from her home near Barry’s Bay for her great grandson’s 3rd BD and they will make a short stop to pick it up and take it to his little party in Stratford.
Saturday I gave the baby set I knitted for our new great- granddaughter due in September to her mom Vanessa. It was so nice as my oldest daughter Carrie, Vanessa’s mom Toni and her grandma Liz came for a visit. I haven’t seen her grandma for years and we actually used to live next door to each other and when I was 11 I babysat for her until I started my own family. Life sure is amazing, who would have thought all these years later we would share a great granddaughter.
I better get busy as I want to go to Costco this afternoon.

Take care, Carol

Right now we have 98% humidity I walked in the house and then humidity was worse in here than outside.
We need some nice weather days soon. I walked earlier today and it was quit nice. The little girls across the road a nieces two girls love Frank(pug)
I took them all for a walk. A lot longer walk than I normally take. I’m getting more active and walking further when it’s not too muggy or wet,
I bought a book today and started writing what I eat and when I walk etc. I want to start my weights.
Tomorrow is another shopping day, Strawberry farm, post office to mail back the modem I forgot to send before I left Cambridge. Finish getting the groceries I didn’t get on Saturday.
I went to a liquidation store today it had some nice couches and stuff a bit of everything. Good prices I need two couches I’d like one to be a pull out couch for company. I’m looking for some other stuff I’ll find it when I see it.
I found out the end tables open and they are full of stuff too. I texted DD this is never going to end. She said that’s right. Today was the linen closet two garbage bags of donations. I was hoping to have a bit of room in it but I don’t. I got my towels and bedding put away from the totes. I still have some in garbage bags. I’ll have to change stuff again before I think it’s done. I’m still waiting for the dressers and stuff to get out of here. I was hoping this weekend it never happened, I don’t know when SIL will be back again. I will make sure they go at that time no matter what.

Teri - You are living in a different world now from where you were! Nice that you have a Swiss Chalet handy enough for take out. That's a pretty healthy choice - or can be. I'm sure you enjoyed getting out and doing a few things.

Charlotte - We're pretty seasonal here but I'm disappointed that the sun didn't come back for the second day as i thought it was supposed to do. It's slightly overcast and there are glimpses. Great that you can get back to singing. I know that one nursing home was in touch with me almost two weeks ago to see if we'd want to come back to sing in the fall. They can now have live entertainment again but she knows our group takes the summer off. Still have to email my group about that! My voice is going to be woefully out of shape too - have only been to church to sing behind my mask a few times. Guess I should try to get there a time or two this summer! Enjoy the lake and some ice cream! Sounds delish! Stay cool.

emoticon Donna!

Hubby and I didn't head downtown yesterday until about 5:30. Two blocks on our main street (not called Main St) where there's a few restaurants were blocked off for "patio dining" because most of these places have little or no patio space and of course patio dining is all they're allowed - at least until next Friday when we move to stage 3 of re-opening. Our main goal was checking out the street art (still don't have those pics downloaded - tried but my computer wouldn't search for them) but then we decided to see if we could find a place to eat - hubby was at the point where he needed to sit down. A couple of places we checked where we've eaten on a number of occasions had long waiting lists or reservations only, but there was a small Italian place - actually thought it mainly did catering - and they had a couple of empty tables so we went there. It did take a while to get our food - everything is made fresh but when our veal parmigiana and fresh pasta arrived it was well worth the wait. I didn't eat all of mine - not sure if it'll be lunch today or tomorrow as I had a VERY late breakfast. I was looking to have some ice cream too, Charlotte - something hubby can't eat so I have only on rare occasions. They didn't have any - not even gelato - so I "settled for" a nice brownie and some coffee. Delish! It was such a nice evening to be out - kind of felt like a date for hubby and I. We both thoroughly enjoyed it and he wants to go down again some evening for dinner as they'll be doing the street patio on Friday and Saturday evenings throughout the summer.
My sister called this morning. Mom was on the floor beside her bed early this morning and she and my BIL could just manage to get her up and back into bed. They were close to calling the paramedics to come help. Then she was up again at 4 thinking it was time to get up. My poor sister is exhausted as she gets very little sleep. My brother is going to go up to stay tonight. His wife has not been well, or he probably would have been there to stay sooner but he didn't want to leave her. She's on the mend although on heavy doses of prednisone, so he must feel he can leave her for a night. I'm heading back up on Friday for a few days and my sister is counting the sleeps.

emoticon 29 degrees out there on the way to 35 so the weather forecast says. We relaxing by the fans this morning, then off in our air-conditioned car to find some shade (and maybe emoticon by the water this afternoon - probably Winnipeg Beach. I did some power cooking yesterday when it was cooler so no need to heat the kitchen further for the next little while. This too shall pass!

Stayed the same this week on the 5% challenge, which is progress I guess. Looking forward to September, I signed up for the Pops Choir at the Winnipeg Conservatory of Music again. Now have to start tuning up my voice as I haven't really sung anything worthwhile for over a year - use it or lose it as the saying goes.

Have a grand rest of the weekend everyone.

The weather is strange everywhere either hit or wet these days. Today was a pretty good day started out windy it actually could almost blow me over. My DD decided to meet at a sale imtverexwax nothing big out interest. We then came back to my place. She visited across the road for a short time then we chatted a little with DH. Then we left to go to her place to drop my dog off while I shopped for groceries. I didn’t get everything on my list I’ll go Monday. I went to check out the strawberry farm. I ordered Swiss Chalet for pick up and forgot to get it was on the highway and had to turn around and go back to get it. My dog was really good for the drive he enjoyed seeing my grandson. I had a headache I had a bad sleep last night. Didn’t eat today and so that’s probably why. I ate the Swiss Chalet my pill helped. I’m ready to sleep now I’m take my dog out for the last time. Last night I waited because he was sleeping but he got up at 12:45 to pee. It was quit nice out but I was a little nervous, bears, coyotes and bugs lol. Never saw anything but us. Lol

I guess I forgot to check in here yesterday! Lots of chatter since I last looked a couple of days ago.

Teri - You really seem to be making progress with the house and I'm sure it's been a good way to put in the time until you could actually go out again. emoticon on the weight loss! Eating properly and being active are the keys and you've had lots to do to keep you active. I'm glad that you're not being hit too badly by Elsa. We've had our share of rain and cool weather here for the past three days but today we're back to sunny and warm - more like July. A couple of days felt like it was April! emoticon Enjoy getting out to shop! On MFP if you go to community and then look for groups you should be able to find the Canadians group. I thought I saw you on there already. Or you can search for groups if you aren't on there already and you should be able to find it.

Charlotte - I'm glad that you're getting some respite from the heat! I would if I could send you some rain and cooler temps as I've had to resort to wearing a sweater for the past three days around here! So far today I've managed to avoid having to put one on. As usual you are busy with the farm. MIL's house was a treasure trove of 'stuff' that she'd kept over the years but also that she inherited from her mom. I actually have a mink coat sitting in my front cupboard which belonged to hubby's grandmother. No one here could begin to wear it - it's too small. Even if I could get it on the sleeves would be WAY too short. I don't really know why we have it but then there's foot locker full of stuff from hubby's grandmother's place that serves as a coffee table in front of our love seat to it does have a useful purpose!

Donna - Not just poor hubby but poor you! You've been missing out on your sleep too but I'm glad that you were able to get some me time and golf! Good for your body and your mind.

After three days of dull cool weather and rain for a good part of two of them, we have a nice enough day to be out. Hubby and I want to go downtown - something we rarely do on the weekend - so he can view the street art all done by local artists sponsored by downtown businesses- a project that they call "Streets Alive". this year's theme was 'Road Trip to Mariposa' and everything is in the shape of a VW van which local artists have chosen to paint/decorate up in various ways. They are displayed along the edge of the sidewalk through our downtown area. I took a bunch of pictures when our daughter was here over a week ago and we were downtown but still have to get them on to my computer - should do that right away! They did a parade of VW vans earlier this morning but they'll be parked around downtown too. This weekend would have been the Mariposa Folk Festival - second year in a row that it's been cancelled, but that's why the vans are here this weekend.
Our immediate family is almost all fully vaccinated now - just our SIL who needs to get his second dose and I imagine he'll do that soon. He was the last to get his first dose at the end of May. We're going to have our grandson here the end of the month for about a week. Our daughter's "weekends" are Tuesday/Wednesday right now so she'll bring him up on a Tuesday evening after a day at a water park with some close friends and we'll have him until the following Tuesday/Wednesday when she'll come up to get him and probably stay overnight. One advantage is not having to deal with weekend traffic!

Need to go check my towels. Enjoy your weekend!

That’s great you hit out to golf. It looks like the worst is going to miss us. We might get more rain and 70km winds.

Teri six pounds in three weeks is awesome. All the packing and unpacking seems to be the trick. I sure hope you dont have any repercussions from Elsa. It sure has caused havoc already.

Charlotte this heat is horrible if you dont have air. The temp in my kitchen has dropped 20 degrees.

I golfed today and it was wonderful to get out there and enjoy some me time which was exactly what I needed. I have spent way too many hours with medical personnel lately.
Dh is much better today so I felt comfortable leaving him. I am always a phone call away..

We are getting Elsa now a few downpours and thunder fog earlier.
I’m getting the back part of the house done we come in the backdoor. Then the kitchen and addition are right there. The kitchen was done right away. I’m really hoping to get all the dressers moved this weekend. Then I can start on putting stuff in the other bedrooms.
Tomorrow is my first day out I have a lot of shopping to do. There is a multi family indoor sale we are going to check out. There’s a liquidation place close by to check out before we head to actual stores.

Donna - healing vibes going out to your hubby. Dental issues make a person miserable all over, poor guy. emoticon emoticon to you both.

Teri - emoticon on the weight loss and on your progress cleaning out the house. Your coat closet reminded me of what I inherited when I moved in this old family home (34 years ago!) a huge handmade cedar wardrobe filled with three generations of coats and related items - most of which no one wore. It took awhile but the collection is now down to a couple of "hangers-on" (if you'll pardon the pun) grandma's mouton fur coat (1953), uncle's wool topcoat (1930's). dh's university jacket (1968), a black silk parasol (ca. 1910) and several wooden canes. Every item had a story, which made it harder for me to deal with anything while my in-laws were still around. I sure could have used a shot of your determination though - back then and now!

We've had a break from the 30 degree scorchers the past few days, but like The Terminator they'll "be bahck" this weekend. The house has cooled off and all the fans are in position so we're ready for it. No real rain yet, although there was enough of a shower to allow us to fire up the burn barrel for an hour, with garden hose at the ready just in case. Dh has found enough hay to cut and bale, so I'm busy with field lunches. The saskatoons are almost ready to pick so that's the next thing.

Hi to Sue, Marty, Paulette, Carol (NS) and Carol (ON) - hope you have a wonderful summer weekend. With the Covid restrictions gradually lifting, we're seeing light at the end of the tunnel that's not an oncoming train! emoticon

I hope things get better with your DH’s dental issues. It must be hard for him right now. I hope he’s not in too much pain.
I accomplished quit a bit yesterday. I did the coat closet 90% wasn’t DH’s. I put everything in bags it boxes to go across the road. DH says there’s no one there to put it away. I said I don’t care not my problem. The addition area is getting closer to being cleared out. I finally got him to take the love seat out of the living room right now it’s just on the front deck but at least it’s out of the house. He didn’t see my problem with it the 80 year old that stayed here spent 24 hours a day on that loveseat for over 2 years.
We are expecting the wind and rain today from Elsa. It was windy last night m. It’s cool and windy this morning. I walked Frank already he’s been getting up to go out at 6 these days. He didn’t want to go on a longer walk today. I’m walking a lot further than when we first started walking.
I’m down about 6 lbs in 3 weeks. I’m not tracking anywhere. I haven’t been able to find the Canadian team on MFP.

STAY POSITIVE AND SMILE. DON'T BE DISCOURAGED WHEN YOU HAVE A BAD DAY. THEY CAN ONLY GET BETTER.
