FELINA: Stay safe my dear during that storm. My prayers will go out that God keeps you and yours safe through the storm. ;)

GARDENSFORLIFE & CatLady: Never really understood bout the steps but I'm trying. Guess I have to get a pedometer in order to keep track of that. :)

CatLady: Sorry bout you having computer problems. I know all too well how that can wreak havoc on one's day. Hope you're not down as long as I was. :)

I am so glad to hear that you are finally getting some positive feedback regarding your hubby's condition. I know that must be tough going through all this with no concrete solutions. It's a good thing you went to another doctor for another opinion. That's the best thing to do. Not every doctor is up to speed nor do they know what they're talking about. It's so tough to find good, reputable doctors nowadays. The steps we have to go through to get answers to conditions we know we're going through.

It's a good thing you're going to refile the disability claim. You're right, you'll have better results with this doctor. Question, did you give this second doctor all the info you got from the first doctor???? That always helps. ;)

Just be there for your hubby and help him through it. He needs lots of reassuring right now and he especially needs you. ;)

FELINA - be safe in the storm. Sandy looks to be bothersome. We might get some rain and wind from it but I am not expecting anything bad.

GARDENSFORLIFE - good job on the 10,000 steps. I got close yesterday with 9079. I only get to the 10,000 mark when I do my 5K walk. A Harvest Party sounds fun. I've never been to one.

Had a hard time trying to SP yesterday. My browser kept stopping so I gave up.

My husband had his memory testing yesterday. It proved to be very beneficial. The doc said his memory was "abysmal." There is significant impairment and the doc said there was no way he could function in a work environment. The doc said the result will definitely get him disability. the doc is doing another day of testing, only another hour, because my husband was having trouble staying awake and was "fading fast." the doc said this extra hour was over-kill but he said it would be good to do it. The doc used a lot of technical terms that I understood at the time but now that a day has passed I can't explain it anymore. ( My memory is bad too.) We will re-file the disability claim probably in December. I am just really disgusted with the first doc we saw. We complained about the memory problems many times and he ignored our complaint. had he listened and suggested this test we could have been done with the disability and gotten it the first time. My husband is bummed with the information, but I am trying to reassure him. Now he thinks he is "stupid." I did the same thing when I had my memory testing and I failed miserably. I had a pity party for about 6 months but I got over it. I'll let him have his pity party for a little while then he'll have to snap out of it.

Hope everyone stays out of Sandy's way!!!! Be safe wherever you are!!!

emoticon Hello! We are having a Harvest Party at work tomorrow. I have a bus load of college volunteers coming to help plus community volunteers. They will clean, work the food pantry and help with the Harvest Party. If it does not rain, we will grill outside. It should be very nice and I will get a lot of exercise! There will be toys, candy, food, books, information about community resources and much more.
Have a great evening! emoticon emoticon

God bless husbands and pets! They're always there for us.

CatLady, so glad to hear you're ok. We were all sooooooooo concerned about you. I'm glad it wasn't the worst that it could have been. I'm super glad it appears to be minor. Just be careful and take it easy, ok?

Walked yesterday at Walmart to be on the safe side. I use a cart when i walk there and then my husband is with me plus there are plenty of people around if I have a problem. I got in 35 minutes and did okay. Other than being sore in my behind parts and shoulder blade I am physically okay. I tell you, my rump is tender. I keep showing my husband my butt so he can see if there is a bruise!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!! He used to like my butt. Today I went for my regular walk on the road. I got up and ready but I was nervous. I decided I had to get back on the horse or I would start making excuses as to why I couldn't do it. I am good for excuses. I started out a little shaky, but once I got going I was doing just fine. I even added 5 minutes to my walk. My husband and Boone met me on the way home. Thanks for all your concern and comments. I am back up and running (well walking!!!!!).

CATLADYX8- Please be careful! Exercise is important but not when you do not feel well.
Is there a clinic or doctor you can see? Please be careful! Have that checked out. I thank God that you did not get seriously hurt. Is there a low cost clinic near you?

Had a scary thign happen today while walking. I felt fine when I got up, I was of course tired, nothing new there. I started my walk and everything was going fine. then all of a sudden my legs got rubbery. My knees kept going out from under me. Dumb me kept walking thinking it was something temporary and it would pass. My legs kept buckling. I kept right on walking instead of turning home. About 1/3 of my way my legs let go and I fell flat on my back. thank God I didn't hit my head on the road, but there I was in a heap on the road!!!! Generally this position would have caused a serious problem for me. I can't usually get up once I am down. I managed to roll over to my knees and I somehow (God's hand) got back up, AND kept walking!!!!!! I still didn't turn around. I dont' know why, I wasn't thinking straight. I kept telling myself I had to get my walk in. No walk is that important, but i couldn't seem to stop myself. I slowly made my way towards home and I met my husband and Boone. I told my husband what had happened and I finally told him to go home and get the car. I continued to walk and almost made it home before he showed up. Thank God I wasn't far from home and that my husband decided to walk this morning. Not sure what happened. Now my "posterior" is sore as heck. I need to have my husband check it for bruises.

Tomorrow I'll walk at Walmart to be on the safe side!!!!

The weekly challenge is finally posted. I usually do it Sunday night, but I forgot. i got caught up in some TV show. It's up and running now. Check it out and join in. All are welcome!!!

Got up and did my walk this morning. I almost gave in and stayed in bed, but I got my motto in my head, "Do It Anyway!" So I got out of bed, got dressed and went walking. My two favorite men did not meet me this morning. When I got home my husband was just getting up. We had to put Boone in the crate early this morning as he started wandering around and I didn't' want him to have another accident. He was not a happy camper being in the crate. He whined and made pouty noises. He's spoiled rotten and we're responsible!!!!

Are you all planning on doing some exercise today?? Try just 10 minutes. I find when I talk myself into just 10 minutes I feel like doing another 10. Keep moving!!! We can do it!!!

Another beautiful fall day. The forecast is sun for the next 7 days. Temps are looking good and it will definitely be good walking weather. Got up early and went for my walk this morning. I didn't dare put it off. My husband and Boone met me on the way home. I love it when they meet me. I look for them as I round the bend.

Boone had an accident in the house the other morning. I think my husband was too slow getting out of bed and taking him out. I think Boone does great to hold it for 7-8 hours during the night. I can imagine that in the morning he HAS to go!!!

Yesterday, the 20th, was my 2nd year Spark anniversary. I've met some wonderful people here and I appreciate all the friendships I have made. Everyone is so supportive. Thanks to everyone who makes my time here at SP so enjoyable. emoticon emoticon

Got up at 7:30 but couldn't get out of bed to walk. Tired!!!!!!! emoticon I need to go to Walmart today so I'll walk the store for my exercise.

Sorry about your dentist appointment 1CRAZYDOG. I have my first dental appointment in a long time next week. I haven't been for almost 2 years. I am over due for a cleaning and x-rays. My husband is still on the cancellation list. They have called a couple of times with cancellations but by the time I get to call them back they have given away the appointments.

It is a nice day today. Sun is shining, temps are warm. Beautiful fall day!!! Hope everyone has a good one.

HUGS and have a great Saturday everyone.

My kids like the little catnip mice. They go crazy for them but the mice usually end up under the stove or the fridge. Now with the dog we can't have them anymore cuz the dog will eat them. Of course for the cats the cheaper the toy the happier they are...i.e. balls of crunched up paper, bread ties, rubber bands, pens, newspaper. My cats love to get under folded newspaper and then ambush each other. Oh and don't forget a box!! The smaller the better

I am still fighting a cold today. I have been sneezing a lot and my nose is running. I can't seem to blow it enough. I thought I was going to skip my exercise yesterday but I got on the treadmill and walked for 30 continuous minutes. That's a first for me. My daily walking is helping me. i did my outside walk today for 35 minutes. Now I am free for the day. WooHoo!!

Tonight is homemade pizza night. My mother swears by putting broccoli on her pizza. I may try that on my half. We usually put onions, green peppers, pepperoni and ham...cheese too. I like the veggies on my pizza. I do find the more stuff you put on the pizza the soggier it becomes. We just cook it in a regular oven, not on a pizza stone so i don't know if that would make a difference.

Hope everyone is making the best of the day they've been given. Do a little exercise, even just 10 minutes is better than nothing. Do It Anyway!!!!!!! Keep smilin'!

CatLady, a Q-tip sounds a little rough, especially if the cat hates having the ears cleaned. A cotton ball dipped in some lukewarm water might get you better results. Poor kitty...glad he's on the mend!

Today's been a busy day. Really, it's been a busy week. Hoping to spend a little time snuggling with the kitties tonight. Though the little punks have no issue taking up my bed space. I have a queen size bed, but never to myself with all of them scattered around me. It's flying fur and cats if I have to get up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night!

Merlin went for his follow-up vet appointment today. We were just about done with all the ear treatments. The vet said his ears were still dirty and to use a Q-tip to clean them. he didn't tell us that last time. Besides the problem was the hematoma. He didn't' say anything about that. I finally had to remind him about it. Still no real response. That really bugged me because in the beginning the vet said surgical intervention would be necessary. In my opinion it looks great. The swelling is just about gone but his ear flap is deformed now. The vet wants us to continue cleaning with Epi-Otic for another two weeks and then use a Q-tip to clean. Oh joy!!! Here I thought we were done. then he wants to see Merlin again. I think I may cancel the second follow-up. I don't see the point in giving him more $$$ to just look in his ears.

I'm sorry for your loss, BLUEKITTYGP12. You had to make a hard decision, but I'm sure Sandy appreciates it. I've had to make that decision myself three times so far, and the first time was for my best furry friend, Betsy. Take comfort in that Sandy is at peace now and doesn't have to struggle with the urinary issues anymore. There's nothing wrong with how you are grieving. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. emoticon

BLUEKITTYGP12, sorry to hear about Sandy. You did what was best. Like others have said, we all grieve in our own way. There is no right or wrong way about it. Sandy is at peace now and enjoying kitty heaven. I like to think she is meeting and friending all of mine that have passed on. One day we will all be reunited.

Sorry to hear about your pet. I am glad you know that God has a place prepared for us when we leave this life. We all have our own way of dealing with loss. Our grief process is highly personal and not right or wrong. Give your daughter a hug for me. I will keep your family in prayer!

I enjoyed reading the pet grooming stories. The vet always told me he would clip my dog's toe nails if he did not get upset. Well he was a Rottweiler. He was never too happy. I guess the vet did not want to make my dog dislike like him. he was a big dog with a lot of teeth.
Lady bugs have turned out this week to be my new pets. They are moving in my house this week.
Have a great day! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Welcome ATTACKFATCAT, we' re glad you decided to join us. Toenail trimming is quite the job in our house for 8 cats. Half do well and the other half is horrendous. I have to muzzle one. My husband holds them and I do the cutting. I have one cat that I do on my own. He isn't fond of my husband!! I have to catch him when he is in a loving mood and sitting quietly on my lap.

Walked another 5K today. I think two in one year is enough!!! I won't plan on doing another one until next year sometime. emoticon I got up at 7:30 and started out on my walk. It took me 90 minutes to do the 3.1 miles. I wanted to get up earlier but it is still too dark out to walk safely any earlier.

Boone slept under my knees all night. I had my legs bent and he decided to cuddle up there. Not too comfy for me, but he was settled in and happy so that's how I slept!!!

Hope everyone enjoys the day. It is another cool, fall day here in VA.

It was cold, raining very hard and foggy when I came home this evening. My day was very busy but I got a lot done. My volunteers were great! All of the youth worked very hard today.
Have great evening! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Felina, I have a few that like to wrestle too. Actually, Reepicheep, the youngest one, likes to try to wrestle/play with everyone else and usually no one wants to participate except for Quixote. They'll duke it out on the kitchen floor. I love watching them stare down each other and whipping their tails back and forth. I can never tell who wins, but when it gets too rough Quixote usually bows out with a hiss and a run.

Last night I had to groom Tiger before I went to bed and he was not a happy kitty. He's about ten and hasn't been grooming himself well lately (though he's in great health according to the vet). So I had to attack him with a brush, a comb, and some scissors last night. He has some very unsightly bald patches now, but he should be grateful I haven't decided to have him shaved...yet ;)

Hope everyone is having a good Monday morning. I'm still trying to wake up at this point and really wish I had gotten a few extra hours of sleep.

Hey Felina the bathing routine is something that goes on in my house too. Merlin will get Kiki and start washing her ears. Kiki will tolerate it for a few minutes and then the washing turns to "nibbling." When the nibbling starts it becomes a brawl. They are the only two who participate in this bathing ritual.

It was sprinkling this morning so I skipped my outside walk. I need to go to Walmart so I will walk there today.

DH is still struggling with his cold. I won't let him take a sinus pill when he takes the stimulant for his narcolepsy. (Still not sure this is his diagnosis but that's what the pill is for) I allow him to take the pill for congestion several hours later. His cold symptoms are worse at night and he hasn't been sleeping well. That's the way it is with anything. Whatever your problem it is always worse at night.

Hope everyone has a sparklin' day!!!! Eat slowly and mindfully!!!!
