Good evening.

I have had spotty internet service today so I am just doing a fly by so I can visit all my teams before I lose internet again (It was also bill paying day and that took most of the day!)

Been a good day – Daddy’s morning blood work was good and I finally got all my bills paid. I’m broke now but everything is paid for another month! And I did get my workout in this morning, I have the videos saved to my computer for just such an emergency

I hope everyone has a good day tomorrow!!!

Good going, Vicki! See, you were so disheartened just a few days ago and yet you lost 6.4 in a month! Pat yourself on the back........and remember that it's a short trip and just a little bit more pressure to turn that pat into a kick in the posterior if that ends up being necessary!
I'm content that on this scale, I'm at 137.2 with my pjs on--can't do the nude weigh-in, in my brother's living room! lol
I had a great sleep last night, tho Les didn't. He was quiet however---after I tuned him the night before, guess he figured he'd better treat me right, I'm a gal who needs her sleep.
Got my 10,000 yesterday after walking to and from the mall/dr's office. If I don't do an actual walk, it is pretty difficult to get in the steps. It's very grey today but I will have to get in a walk. Renee, good for you getting in a nice long walk. Walking is such good exercise and it is never boring. Going to the gym just doesn't appeal to me. I have to push myself to be active in any way. Kathy, you are so consistent in doing your work-outs. I admire your perseverance.
Gotta get dressed for the day. Just talked to the homecare nurse on the phone and she''ll be here later this morning.
Have a happy day in every way,
Lynette

I thought I had posted this past week, I guess I didn't. I've been tired and not in the mood so I took a break. Today I am back eating healthy. I planned out my meals and cooked a munch of foo yesterday so it would be easier. Got up at 6 this morning and went for a hour long walk after breakfast. I only planned for a 30 minute walk but I walked somewhere new and it lasted longer than planned.

Hope everyone has a good evening!

hello happy people! Yup, the ghouls are rockin'! It would be nice to be down to my lowest weight for month-end. If I'm good I should be able to do that. Would like to start my holidays at the lowest possible weight because I know that I'll gain while I'm on vacation.
Didn't get enough sleep last night, as we discovered weeping sores on Les' leg as he was getting ready for bed. I found it hard to go to sleep, going over possibilities in my head. THEN, he was up, getting his breakfast going at 4:30 in the morning, I got up and gave him hell and told him to go back to bed!!! Even if he can't sleep, he needs to rest (and I believe he THINKS he is awake all night but is at least dozing).
And I need to sleep! I'm getting kinda cranky. Time for a little tough love instead of pampering, maybe!
Thanks for letting me vent; hope everyone has a great day. It's cooler and rainy this morning but I must get some walking in so maybe it will need to be mall walking.

Good to be able to keep up with all the news even though I'm away from home! Internet is a wonderful thing. All of you seem to be doing great, and all are busy!

DH called and said they are starting to do thing to our lot -- boy, it's about time. The man who is coordinating all of this (supposedly) seems confident he will have the plans this week-end. And as he is already leveling and getting our lot ready to pour the foundation I hope he's right so I hope to see things happening in October. The weather is just ideal right now!

As for me -- I don't know how to turn on Renee's TV or music, can't figure out her scale either and have probably pushed so many buttons everything is screwed up. She tolerates me tho, just as I tolerate her. BYW, she was gone for hours on her errand, so when she returned I figured she had been to the casino and I asked how much she lost. She laughed and said she had WON $200! Plus she had a long chat with her fiancé thanks to Skype!

Good Morning everyone

Got my workout in this morning – 5am. As cold as it is here I had to turn on my fan while I worked out…now I have my sweater on! LOL

Haven’t really got anything planned for the day…just a few errands to run (grocery store). Then if it is pretty outside my husband will probably work on one of our vehicles. I always stay outside and sit with him so we can talk and visit!

I hope you all have a lovely and stress free Saturday!!!

Happy Friday everyone!! Hope you all have a great weekends. We have a wedding tomorrow and I am dreading the food thing... I haven't been able to exercise all week because I pulled something in the area of my hip replacement last week and so I have been babying it all week. I was doing the cardio chair exercises and I felt a pull but I kept going. I love those chair exercises because they are easy on my knees which also need replaced but I'm working on strengthening and weight loss instead. No strengthening this week or weight loss but that's ok we just keep doing our best. The good news is that I have been making healthy choices most of the time and I have been staying within my calorie allowance. Have a super weekend everyone. From the sunshine state in which the rains have finally stopped. emoticon

Kathy, you are getting up earlier and earlier -- soon you won't go to bed at all. It will just be Turbo Workout all night long.

Lynette, how is the Caregiver going. Sounds like you are doing great on your weight. I hope I lose a bit more while I'm here with Renee. She has mostly healthy things on hand. She ask me if I wanted to go with her to have a drink with friends, But I don't want to go into any place that has food -- if I don't see it, I don't eat it. lol

Vicki, you are doing so well on your weight loss -- just proves you can do it. And that's great news about putting new carpet in the whole house. I would go with the same color thru-out, but it's because ours is a pretty open floor plan. I actually wish I didn't have any carpet, I'd like tile or laminate throughout, but really can't afford it, and they charge a fortune to upgrade.

Alyssa, you are being pretty consistent with your weight, so I'd definitely say you are progressing!

Think of your gsale work as exercise AND a way to keep busy so you won't be eating, Vicki. By tomorrow you could be in the 180's! then you'd be so happy you worked hard today!

Hello everyone, just stopping in quick. Sounds like everyone's lives have been pretty busy lately! Fridays are my official weigh in and I'm up a pound from last Friday. Which is extremely depressing since I worked out 6/7 days this week. But then again, looking at my daily weigh ins this week they never went above 165. All the other weeks this month had at least one 166 weigh in. So maybe it is slowly coming down after all. I'm just hoping next Friday's weigh in shows a loss. The plan this week is to workout 7/7 days.

That's great Lynette, if Les has to eat healthy, then it means you will too. I'm so proud of you getting in all those steps, I really don't know how you manage to do it. I didn't wear my Fitbit for several days as the battery went dead, and I have one heck of a time getting it opened and closed so I left it up to DH. He's always replacing batteries on something.

Woke up with energy this morning, and went in the front yard (in Glendale) and even though it was HOT, it didn't seem that bad, lots of the yard was in the shade. I even got out the blower as our tree sheds some kind of stringy little things that are the leaves, and also it is constantly shedding bark, a real nuisance, but it's a pretty tree and really big and tall, would hate to have it taken out. Anyway, discovered DH brought the blower down, but no heavy-duty extension cord, so.....Duh! I picked a few weeds and called it good. Now inside the house vacuuming each room before we leave -- told ya I had energy!!

Kathy I see that 350 number on your tracker! Way to go! What will your next goal be? And when are you trying to get there. Reading about your 'naps' reminds me that I have days like that too. Sometimes your body says you need more rest.

Vicki -- keep up the good work you "ball of energy" -- if it means a lot to you to get back into the 180's I know you will do it. You seem to accomplish what you set out to do.

Oh, and I found some yarn I had on hand, had originally bought it for an afghan for my room as it is a 2-tone white/sage green, soft and kind of nubby. But when I tried to crochet with it, I was not experienced enough and the challenge was too much. Now that I've completed over half of my other one, I decided to try it again, and this time I can do it. It will be pretty.

I feel so good having ordered the furniture, and the saleslady, Carole, was super nice. She told me anytime I wanted to 'borrow' the material sample for my sofa's, just let her know. I can see one thing, I need to go with a bit darker carpet so the sofa's will be lost on it. So it will be handy to have the samples.

Good dr news, Kathy. Keep up the diet, exercise, following instructions and you'll be the best you've ever been!
Eve, shopping is great therapy and putting up with dental work is hard work, so you're having a good balance in your life these days.
Vicki, you also sound like you are enjoying lots of variety in your activities. Keep doing whatever you need to do to get down to the 180's by month end.
I was up with Les a few times Mon/Tues as he was coughing very hard. We'd gone to bed late (he is a night owl and has sleep problems/insomnia) and so I ended up with very little sleep. He does nap a bit in the chair in the day. Psst, he doesn't think he does-- much of insomnia is your interpretation of what's happening, teehee. I was beat so last night I had to go to bed before he was ready. All meds were taken and he just had a few things he wanted to do before he got into bed. I awoke a few minutes before 8 and flew out of bed, ran to the kitchen where he was calmly making his oatmeal. Whew.
Morning meds are done, bkfst done, I'm going to get dressed for the day before the home care nurse comes, and later the tech, as we were able to make arrangements to have blood taken here. He and I would not be able to get him up and down the stairs to the house. J will come tomorrow afternoon to help as he MUST go to the doc for his appointment then.
I went out for a walk yesterday, met a fellow working in his yard who gave me some fresh tomatoes. I also went over to the doctor's office to wrap up the details for the blood test today. So I did get in my steps yesterday. Kids came over with supper again so I'm eating well thanks to J and the healthy groceries that are a must for L. Thanks for your support: Spark buddies know what this is all about.

Another doctor appointment today, but this time a dentist, and it was just to have my teeth cleaned, so no pain. But found out I have a tooth in the far back that will have to be pulled, and then the dentists started talking about doing a bone graft so my gums will not have a big indent where the tooth is pulled. The longer they talked the more expensive I figured it will be. Guess I got off lucky because the insurance pays a really big part of it, so I'll have that taken care of in November when we are permanently back in Glendale.

Running errands can wear a person out. I went back to the Oak Furniture store to finalize some of my decisions, and entered the store at about 12:40. Finally left at 4:20, but at least everything I want is ordered as some of the items will take about 3 months to manufacture. I decided on Amish furniture for the master bedroom and using a fairly light shade of wood. All in all I think it will all look great. I even splurged and ordered one lamp from that store for the Guest Bedroom/Hobby Room because the colors matched so well with the stuff going in that room. Glad all those decisions have finally been made.

Back up to Yarnell tomorrow. Were planning on going today but DH wasn't feeling too good so we decided to wait. It's not like we do all that much during the day time anyway, not until around 5:00 when it starts to cool down and it's pleasant outside.

I went to dr today and got results of my last cholesterol test....I have cut my bad numbers by over half!!!!! Still just a tiny bit high so he wants me to go back on a statin. I went off it earlier this year because of joint pain but he wants me to try again so I will for him. (He is an awesome Dr and I will try just about anything for him.) Got my toenails cut last night at Foot and Ankle clinic – boy the wait was long – got there at 6:30 and left there at 8:45!!!!!

Not much else going on today - I'm getting a late start on posting to all my teams today, but I was gone a good portion of the day and then had "chores" to do when I got home, but I finally am done and can Spark for a couple of hours now!

Big HUGS!!!

With my oldest dd as chauffeur, we brought my bro, L, home from the hospital. He is weak, but improving. He was not able to get up the first step into the house and wiped out, which was PANIC! but he is doing quite well. I went out a few hours later, after I made lunch for us, and got his prescriptions and groceries. The girls and T came over with supper and we had a bit of a visit. Phoned our older brother F who is 2 hours away to tell him how things went today. Soon time for bed but I want to get some Sparking done.
I'm 57, L is 60 and F 62. Neither of them ever married and they don't have children so we are a small family. Not sure how long I will be here. He told me to sleep in the bsmt so he doesn't think he'll need my help in the night so that's encouraging.
Vicki, you're doing great---actually everyone is rolling, it seems! Keep up the good work and keep smiling!

Hello Alyssa - glad you are able to get a workout in! I just get up so early - and there is little to do at that hour so I exercise! LOL

Lynette - I hope all goes well with your brother!!!

Eve - glad your Doctor appointment went well!!!! and I actually need new pants now - but I am safety pinning them to fit my waist! Don't want to buy them and they only fit for a few weeks so I am pushing these as far as I can! I am losing about 2 to 3 pounds a week.

Vicki - I wish you were closer for many more reasons other than that cabin! HUGS!

I have a doctor appt this evening for my toenails - did you know that insurance will pay to have a doctor cut your toenails for free once every 9 weeks if you are a diabetic! I didn't know that until last week when I had to take Daddy because I couldn't get his cut (family trait of very thick toenails) so I made an appt for me!
I also have an appt (along with hubby) for our 3 month checkup tomorrow. Hubby doesn't go to work on appt days so it will be nice to spend the day with him.
Got my workout this morning but I over slept and didn't start till 6:30.
AND I have a call in to one of my cousins (the rich one - owns his own trucking company) he always loved my cabin and is thinking about buying it. I hope so! everybody wish me luck that his wife doesn't talk him out of it!

hugs to all!!!!!!!

Hi Gals! Hope everyone is having a good day. There was no sleeping in for me today as I had the doctor appointment, the kind I hate, when you know they are going to "examine" you! But it's over and done with now, and with good results. The doctor was pleased and so was I. That means I can go back to the gym and do whatever.

Hope you have good luck on selling your cabin, Kathy. And as long as you stick with those turbo chair workouts and eat healthy, you'll continue to drop weight. How much do you lose in a week, on the average? You'll probably have to shop for new pants at the rate you are going! But that's a good thing.

Your brother is so lucky to have a sister who is willing to take care of him. I forgot if he is older or younger than you, but I'm just assuming he is older, and not married. How long do you think he will need your help? It will be hard to be away from your own home for any length of time, but think how good it will feel when you finally do go home.

Vicki, if counting calories is what it takes, it's worth it. But I hope you get in the habit of not eating so many sweets, as it would be tough to count calories for the rest of your life. You are doing so well now, keep up the good work. Remind you DH of the things you CAN'T have so he doesn't tempt you with them. You are so busy socially, I know it makes it very hard.

Alyssa, good to see you whenever you can come by. And that goes for anyone who does not stop by daily. If I was a "working woman' I would find it very difficult.

Seems like all I did was go up and down this week, but was surprised when I looked at the scale this morning -- in spite of all the yo-yo going on, I ended up 1.6 pounds lighter than last Sunday.

DH just got up a bit ago and said he doesn't feel well. That happens so often for him, so not sure if we'll be going to church or not. I'm thankful I'm not sick as often as he is, in fact I am seldom "sick" but might have a sore back, etc. or muscles. When I'm sick all I want to do is sleep.

Bet it was nice seeing R again, Lynette. If absence makes the heart grow fonder, no wonder you are so close. lol When you are gone taking care of your brother, he will miss you so much he will most likely propose. Don't laugh! It could happen.

Kathy, 5:00 a.m. is MUCH to early to think about exercise. But goof luck on selling your cabin, that would be great on being able to pay off your farm. I have a house up for sale too, but it is rented. I wouldn't mind keeping it as the rent is good, but I am really getting tired of the tenant not keeping the weeds out of the yard. If it sells in time it will pay for the new home we are building in Yarnell.

Talked to my daughter this morning, and as they are thinking of moving to Italy, there is a chance we will buy their SS refrigerator as it's just what we want, and also their W/D. That would settle my decision to go with Stainless for the appliances. And we'd save money too.

Good Morning!!!!

got my workout in at 5 this morning! So I'm ready to roll

hubby and I are taking a short trip today to Burkes Garden Va. My brothers and I own a small cabin over there that we are trying to sell, and we need to put up a new bigger for sale sign. The Burkes Garden festival is next weekend and they always get at least 1000 visitors so I want my sign up for that. maybe someone will be interested in buying the cabin. I hope so, if I can sell it I may have enough to pay off my house!

everyone have a great Sunday!

Alyssa sometime a gloomy walk is what you need to think as long as it's not raining - but hope you get a workout in soon

Kathy glad you can make discussions about your dad now and glad he had a good time with friend but sorry he is pooped out but that may have been a good thing for him now he can just rest today - glad your getting to spend time with hubby too - that is a good reason not to go to RL but sorry you have that allergy glad I don't I love sea food

Lynette hope you got to go to RL last night I can't wait to go hope soon - and sorry you still have not got the little friend hope soon for that too - a veg diet don't think so like you don't want to eat Cumbers for 5 days and my hubby would never go on it with me - Hope you can stop by while taking care of your brother but if not we know where you are hope he is doing well keeping you all in my prayers

Eve enjoy your church day - and that is why I don't like to go to RL I want more then one biscuit but if and when we go that will be my one splurge day

Hubby and I mowed lawn and he weed whacked the old flower bed that was much faster then me bending over and cutting them by hand so now my flower bed only has live flowers in them - then I picked a few more tomatoes and peppers they are getting less and less which is ok with me - my dad said I get the next batch of white peaches hope not to many will just freeze them for now - got my scale out and my Ipod to keep track of my food we will see how that works out this week - just hope the scale in the morning says what my tracker says right now but if not will change it and start over again - Someone asked us to look back and see how far we have come and I still have 30lbs off I just keep playing with this last 30 if I would have just stuck to what I was doing 5yrs ago I would have been at goal - oh well I am going to keep trying and if I have a bad day like last week you all can kick my butt again to be good - SO here I am trying again thanks for all the pep talk - Everyone have a great Sunday and if your starting over that is ok

Anyone who doesn't love Red Lobster has to be weird! That's one place where I really LOVE their cheese biscuits and their Caesar Salad. And my favorite week-day lunch is the Bar Harbor Salad! WooHoo DH used to love their endless shrimp, but his favorite shrimp is the most fattening one (coconut shrimp with the mango sauce -- mine too) so he usually just goes for that. I have several things I like on their menu, so it's always a pleasure. And like you said, sometimes you have to splurge!

I enter my food sometimes, but mostly for the benefit of getting Spark Points, although I don't know why as I'm already at the top level. I seldom enter food when I eat out because if I do not know the calorie count, how can you? Besides, I am NOT going to let myself be a calorie counter for life. I know what I can and can't eat -- that's it. I usually stay way under 1200.

Back to the HOT city for a few days. Appointments on both Monday and Tuesday, and I think we'll go down tonight so we can go to church and see all our friends. I think secretly George loves going to Glendale as he is a shopaholic. I swear he runs to one store or another at least 4 times a day.

Well, everyone have a good week-end. Enjoy life!

good morning all.
I went to bed early to avoid the nibbling sounds in the back entry. None of the traps caught him overnight --dang! But this morning I found the chewed pack of sunflower seeds in a camping bag that J must have dropped there (maybe he came in, in that bag, even?) so have gotten rid of that, set another trap where the bag was, sigh, hope I can hear a nice SNAP!
Vicki, oh, I can relate to the craving for Red Lobster. We may go there tonight, it's a favorite and it's endless shrimp right now, so tempting. I know if we do go, my weight will go up but I am coming up with reasons why that's "ok". I know, I know. But sometimes.....
I don't/won't count calories. I just try to make good choices and one thing I know for me, if if I eat my fill of good stuff like vegetables, then I don't eat a bunch of crap. The 5 vegetables/day challenge is a good one for me. I do find it hard as I can't keep a whole bunch of veggies, just being one person. I hate to waste but I also don't want to eat cucumber 5 days in a row, for example.
Lots to do, to be ready to be gone for awhile to take care of my bro so best get on with my sparkin'. Wishing you all a good wkend.

Good morning!

Having a good start to my weekend. Daddy and I went and got power of attorney for me over him. then we stopped by to visit some friends of his, and then we went grocery shopping! I think he overdid it because now he is exhausted but it made him happy so that is the most important thing.

Got my workout in at 6 am this morning and now getting ready to go do errands with James

Hope everyone has a great weekend

Kathy, congrats on your 74 pound loss this year! You're doing so great!!

Vicki, Red Lobster sounds so yummy! Shrimp is my favorite food. I was hoping I could convince somebody to take me to Red Lobster for my birthday, but that didn't happen. Maybe next year...

Hope everyone else is doing well and enjoying a nice relaxing weekend! I'm off to work on homework. Have to submit a reflection today. Then I'm hoping to get a workout in at some point. The basement (where all of my workout equipment is located) is being used this morning and I'm not really a fan of working out in front of people. It's different when you're at the gym and everyone is working out.The gym's another option, but they have odd hours on the weekend and I don't think I have a car today anyway. My other option would be going for a walk, but it's looking awfully gloomy outside and it's supposed to rain all day. So I guess I'll just have to wait until the basement is free later on.

Oh Eve I know diet plans don't work but I keep trying them only because I just hate to count calories but know that is the only way I will lose so starting Sunday that is my plan that way if I want a cookie I can have it but have to count the cals for it - I know this is a life style plan but really hate to count cals but going to give that a try again and back to my routine of exercising which I have no problem doing that - I just wish I didn't like sweets or breads but thanks for the butt kicking I need it bad

Lynette I try very hard not to have the foods I like in the house so not so much sweets here anymore but hubby is skinny and loves his chips which I can sometimes leave alone but this last two weeks I have not and he is a good cook too and hate to hurt his feelings when I don't eat it he knows I am trying but sometimes he forgets and he is the one who really wants me to lose more and I do too but just can't wrap my head into the game right now so just keep the butt kicking going - your doing so well keep up the good work

Kathy your doing great stick to your plan and you will see your goal very soon

Aunt and I got our nail/toes done and some shopping - watched a little TV with hubby went to bed - now up doing sparks and then have to frost a cake for a Baptism for my friend Pat's grand baby then going out with one of my clients who owes us 4 meals this will be one of the 4 and he is getting of cheap this time but next time Red Lobster - LOL - Everyone have a great weekend

thank you everyone

Eve - I have been overweight since Jr High school...since about 12 years old.
I've been taking care of Daddy since he was diagnosed in April. Daddy lives with me and my husband. I never left home and Daddy gave us the farm as a wedding present. we all get along great and its been a godsend since Daddy has become sick because I don't have to go to another location and he doesn't have to relocate!
I have lost weight before and regained it. I lost 72 pounds over two years with TOPS in the two years before I met and married my husband. After marriage we both slowly gained as our new favorite pass time was eating out. I was 276 when I got married and gained to 426 over about 8 years. The doctor put me on Metformin for my diabetes and I lost down to 380. and then quickly regained to 426. I was 426 when I weighed in on January first of this year. I now weigh 352. I am doing it the right way this time with a life style change and sustainable exercise, not the crash diet I did the first time. I intend to eat this way the rest of my life.

Well - you probably wasn't expecting a book when you asked that question LOL - but there it is.

I really appreciate all the support I get from you "guys". I keep all of you very close to my heart

emoticon

oh - and one of those pounds was lost today!

Ray and I had a great time at the Home Show last night. Going there was one of our first dates and we try to go each time it is held.
My brother is supposed to get out of the hospital on Sunday so I'm planning to go up to Edmonton. Lots to do to get ready.
Eve, I'm yo-yo-ing : I bounce back and forth around a point it seems. The goal is to v e r y
s l o w l y get ever lower. I can't seem to eat well 100% of the time but I am being good about getting in my 10,000 steps.
Vicki, here's my tip of the day. My downfall is the evening hoovering of any food I can. Is that an issue for you? What works best for me is to not have 'bad" food in the house. If it's not there, I can't eat it!
Alyssa, hope you have a relaxing weekend.
Kathy, way to go on the continued success.

DIETS don't work. Every diet I've ever read is usually based on a time frame. Eat this for a week, or eat that for three days, or a progressive one, where there are little changes and it goes on for weeks. But that's it. They all end, not one of them tells us we have to make a LIFE CHANGE. It would scare people away -- we all want the easy way out. If you would have told me back in 2007 when I first joined SP that I would have to give up or limit the things that I have, I probably would have shrugged and said it just wasn't worth it. But I eased myself into it slowly. I do not drink sodas at all, regardless of diet or regular. I used to eat until I was full, not counting calories, carbs, protein or anything. Look where it got me. If you truly desire to be at a certain weight level, you just have to make yourself a plan that will work for you, and it will severely limit some of the things you love, no doubt about it.

Kathy, I don't know how you do it day after day. How long has all this Caregiver been going on with your father? You seem to remain so calm? And I can't remember if you told us or not but how long have you been overweight? You are such an inspiration, I'm always happy to read your daily comments as they are always so positive.

Lynette, you tell us you are bad when you're around the house -- but your weight has been consistently lower than mine, I'd say you're doing darn good. You haven't mentioned your brother for a bid (that I can remember) so how is he doing? Have the nights turned cold in Canada as yet? Yarnell is definitely cold at night, last night when I went to bed it was 52F.

And speaking of last night -- I wasn't tired at 10:00 when I normally start to yawn. Watched Jay Leno but still wide awake. Finally at 11:30 after DH had already gone to bed, I decided to go to bed, only to lay there awake for hours! Yet I woke up, wide awake at 8:00 a.m.

Lynette you can get on your soup box anytime and thanks for all your support and if any one is cheap it is me I may get my nails and toes done but that is about the only thing I spend money on for I color my own hair I make all my own gifts like the glass flowers and my Emb stuff - I buy at second hand stores and a lot of things at Wal-mart so boy am I cheap but that is ok we make things work don't we - you have done so well just keep up the good work kido and you can kick my butt anytime I need it

Kathy sorry your dad is having trouble but hope he is doing better soon - and your so good about staying on track keep up the good work we are behind you all the way - and your in my prayers ever one here is in my prayers every night

Alyssa so glad you stopped in don't work to hard get a you day soon and stop by when you can

My head feels lots better today and so in a few day may recolor or just say who cares and leave it alone - today going with my aunt to get our nails and toes done and some shopping - then home to get stuff ready to frost a cake in the morning - have all these ideas in my head how I want to do things for my weight loss but can't get my body to do it all I want to do is sit around and mope I try and try and for what to lose 1 or 2 pounds just to put them back on in a day or so then have to work that much harder to get them back off plus more - who the H cares I just want to be Free of it all for I have been on every diet you can think of all my life and sick of trying - can't I just be me?? emoticon emoticon

Hello everyone! Sorry it's been so long in between updates. My schedule is just so crazy now a days.

Thank you to everyone for the birthday wishes and compliments on my new photo.

Kathy - Congrats on another pounds lost. Way to go with keeping up with those workouts!

I finished my second week of my internship. Eight weeks left and realizing how much I have to accomplish during that time is a little bit scary. But I'm positive that I can do it. I'm off to work on some homework, but I just wanted to stop in quick and say hello. Hope everyone is doing well!

PS to mine. Vicki I agree with Lynette, not so much on going to a professional, but on not coloring again for a few weeks. I won't say 6 weeks cause I know exactly how long that is, but it's not wise to color your hair more than twice in a row. Probably what happened is that right at the line where your hair starts to show it has the most gray, therefore it will grab the color the easiest as it's so light. Next time you put it on, color the gray part last instead of first.

Like she said, we all have priorities. I color my own hair. I don't bother to paint my fingernails, but sometimes I do paint my toenails. That is because I can't seem to keep my hands out of the dirt during the summer. For a special occasion I might. I quit shopping in the high-end stores when I quit working, now I shop at SteinMart or JCP. If I ever come across a Liz Clairborne Outlet store I always go in. I don't have any bills, I do have an income, and I'm saving my money to buy new furniture for our home, if it ever gets built.

Good morning
Well, my weight has bounced up again but no big surprise, I can't seem to stick on the straight and narrow path. Sigh, that's the way it is.
Vicki, you gotta take it easy on yourself. DO NOT COLOR again for at least 6 weeks unless you want to be bald.

And seriously consider professional coloring. It is the one thing I will not compromise on. Everyone has their own priorities but I want to share my point of view.
I go to a hair school and it's about 2-3 months between visits.
I have never had my nails done, I had a gift pedicure once about 30 years ago, I don't have a cell phone, I usually go at least 6 weeks between gas fill-ups for my '95 beater, I don't buy at convenience stores, I pretty much only buy food that is on sale, I shop second-hand.
I have NO income and I have NO debt. My life is my own and I value myself. That has nothing to do with money.
But money influences everything and you need to seriously think about what is truly important to YOU.
Ok, jumping down off my soapbox and getting ready to go see my sweetie who has been away for a week.
Wishing you all a great day

Lynette

Lynette it seems like every time my weight goes up, yours goes down, so I'm almost afraid to look and see what you weigh today, but it wouldn't surprise me to see 135 as my (different) scale said 140, and no matter how many times I stepped on the scale it didn't change. lol
It's irritating because I ate right, plus I went for a 1-mile walk, besides the hassle of loading and unloading the car!

Vicki -- now that you're "back on the wagon" with us we'll try to keep you there, even if we have to hog tie you. Yes, I know that's harsh, so keep that in mind the next time you think about eating pizza or cupcakes or anything else sweet. It's a shame that life is all about eating and Healthy Lifestyle or not, that fact doesn't change. So if you're going to "think out of the box" it's going to always be hard. Making the RIGHT choice instead of the APPEALING one will never get to be a habit or easy. (My opinion)

Kathy -- You haven't written yet this morning, but I know you did your turbo workout and are feeling good. After all the stuff you go through with your Dad, do you ever give yourself a "me" day? You deserve one.

Everyone, have a great day and hope the weather is good in your part of the world. It was only 73F when I checked at about 9:00 but now it's up to 78F -- still really wonderful. And.... they tell us our plans are about ready again, so that's a good thing.

Vicki -- I'm not real sure if the cats were glad to see me or not, you know how they are. But when bed time comes they were happy. One sleeps on each corner of my bed. Maybe they sleep in there when I'm not home too, I'll never know. But today when it was time to go, I picked up Luci to take her along, and when she saw her carrier, she put up such a fight I let her stay. Nothing stronger than a little cat. They'll be fine until this week-end sometime when we go back down.

Finally heard word that our plans are finished once again, with the garage redesigned to fit the lot. If we get them by Tuesday we can go to the Library here in Yarnell with them and get a head-start on the permit. If not we'd have to drive to Prescott.

Lynette -- your little poem to Vicki was cute (if you get her, be sure to hold tight, or I have a feeling she will put up quite a fight, like my Luci). lol I see you are doing wonderful with your weight -- unlike me, just 4 more days till my final Dr. checkup. WooHoo! Although in Walmart yesterday I needed Kitty Litter, 28 pounds, but I put it in and out of my cart.

Kathy -- No one is as good as you at getting in the work-out. Wow! If I was as good as you, I'd probably be down to 120 or 125! Oh well........

Good Morning!

Had a wild night last night. Had to take Daddy to the ER for a bloody nose that just would not quit! They finally got it stopped at the hospital and told him to go off his daily aspirin as the chemo was making his platelets low. Luckily we were only there for 2 hours! Got home a little after midnight

Still got up at 6 and did my workout. I feel really crappy when I don't get my workout so I do my dangdest to get it in!

Hope every one else has a good day!

Now that I'm back in the land of temptations (meaning a store on every corner) I find it harder to not indulge myself to settle my little hunger pangs. But in a minute I'll be out the door for a bit of shopping, and I find it much easier not to think about eating.

Visiting with a girlfriend in a short while to see her new home (new to her) and then nothing until a meeting scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

Of course my cats were glad to see a human being, especially me, and I had the enjoyment of their company in bed with me last night. Now that it's daylight they are happily sleeping the day away in their own little secret spots.

See you all tomorrow -- have a good day!

Thanks for all of your kind words, ladies. I appreciate the support.
I'm getting an earlier start today as I awoke at 7 (early for me) and I have lots to do. Doing my Spark check-ins while my FitBIt charges, before my shower, then will have a good bkfst and head to my Beck mtng., then downtown for my dental appt.
I keep thinking that you should be 100 pounds Vicki, due to the energy you use! Kathy, you are so good about getting in your exercise. Renee, you do some very long walks, often in significant heat. Heat is also a factor in Glendale, Eve, and Amber must be walked so you get moving regularly. I need to get my butt kicked I guess, as I spend too much time on my tush, esp on the computer.
I vow to get at least the magical 10,000 today. Hold me to my promise, ladies!
Have a great day, everyone.

I track my food in advance. Since I'm basically lazy I find it easier to stick to my eating plan because I don't want to have to change it. I know it is goofy but it works for me. Got a good walk in this morning before the shooting in DC and then I was glued to the tv. Did a lower body a lower body workout in from of the tv.

Eve, I hope they start your house soon.

Have a good evening.

Renee - I'm glad you are staying on plan!!! and got a walk in!

Lynette - so sorry your baby is going through tough times...hope it all gets better soon

~~~~~~
Got my workout in as usual. had most of the day to relax, but then had to wait two hours at doctor appt with Daddy to get his feet worked on. I'm pooped!!!!
Lynette, our kids may get older, but I swear they never grow up. When my Mom was alive and I would go to visit her, she would still treat me like a baby (but an adult baby). Looking back on it, no wonder my nickname was "The Brat." I was never patient, and when angry I would mouth off. My Mom on the other hand had the patience of Job. And she never, ever used cuss words -- if something was really bad, she might say "Oh Darn!" I guess she actually was my Mom though. Now my daughter and I have almost the same personality traits -- and that sometimes can cause a problem.
Vicki, it's great that you live a 'comfortable' lifestyle and never have to ask your family for help. I grew up that way too, never asked for money, because I knew we didn't have any. And you are so busy with VFW, Red Hats and all your cleaning -- never a dull moment.
Kathy -- I'll bet you felt good once you had done your workout. How much weight will you have to lose before you can do other types of exercise? The kind without sitting down. If there are any friends or relatives who won't see you for awhile, they'll be lucky to recognize you when they see you again.
Renee -- so how is the son doing? I don't envy the young people of today at all, jobs are so scarce and if you lose one it seems forever to find another. My GD is going through the same problems right now. A lot of good a degree seems to make!
Going back down to Glendale tonight, as I have a meeting tomorrow with the gals from church. Today marks two months that we've been in this darn trailer, with two months to go.
I will definitely be ready to move out come the 16th of November. And the weather will then be perfect in Glendale. But of course we'll come up once a week to see how things are going. When nothing is going on, it just makes you wonder if they will EVER get started.
Had a good eating day. Stuck to my eating plan. I even was able to have a small brownie. Everything was accounted for in my journal and best of all my sodium levels where great.
Lynette, I'm sorry your baby is going through some tough times.
Took a rest day with just a short walk.
Hope everyone has a great day!
I heard something along the lines of " a mother is only as happy as her saddest child" and it seems to be a common thread these days. My baby is going through a personal issue that had us both in tears yesterday; my heart aches for her. If only a kiss could make it all better but big girls have bigger problems than a scraped knee.
R phoned this morning so we could talk. He'll be back Wednesday. I went to church, ushered and read, then participated in the potluck bbq. My good friend, F came to church for the first time in a long time. I stopped at a gsale on the way home, and have been reading on the deck for a little while but the sun is hot so decided to come in and do a bit on the computer. I am trying to be grateful for the good things in my life, but I wish all of my loved ones were able to have peace right now too.
Thank you all Sparkfriends for sharing good and bad, triumph and challenges as we carry on.
Lynette, wish I could be as good with the willpower as you obviously are. It always thrills me to get to 136, and so far that's as far down as I've gone since SP. I hope your brother is doing OK, if prayers help, he has all of ours.
Vicki, I must have what you have. Yesterday was a day I just couldn't get enough to eat. DH had not eaten yet when we drove by Burger King in Wickenburg, so he stopped -- I ordered a Crispy Chicken Wrap. That wasn't so bad, but I ate 3 or 4 of his onion rings too. Then gobbled down 4 cookies from when I stopped at the grocery store for bananas. That was bad! Couldn't get enough to eat when I got home either. Open bag of Fritos tempted me, then I ate 3 brownies that was left from the 2 ladies visiting me, small ones, but still -- and I ate a bowl of cereal too. Makes my stomach kind of quishy just writing it down, and that's how I felt as I lay in bed trying to sleep. That and heartburn. Will I ever learn. Weight is up a whole pound today!
Kathy you are really into the workouts and I give you a big hug for that. A hug beats a kick any day of the week.
Renee, I used to go through the same thing with my kids and I wondered if it would ever end. It finally did -- my daughter is the good one, she seldom calls with Emergency calls for money but if she does, you can figure it will be a BIG one, like $10,000 or more. None lately tho.
Today was kind of a hurried day, tiring too. Last night we went out to eat, and I was hungry for our favorite place that serves huge shrimp (deep fried) on their appetizer menu. Lo and behold, they had removed it from the menu. Our loss. We left the restaurant and went to another one -- ate Mexican instead. More fattening too, I think. But it was good.
Stopped off at an Oak Furniture store to see what they had in office furniture. DH doesn't like to shop but he humored me __ they were having a sale__can"t resist those! They really had some good deals so I might do a good deal of my shopping with them instead of Room Store. I'm still a little peeved that they sold furniture that was supposed to be mine. And this store will hold it until our house is built, and will deliver it and set it up also. And I did love the warm tones of the wood I had to choose from.
Tired tonight, but got in a nice walk around the neighborhood.
Forgive me for not commenting on everyone, I'll do better tomorrow!
I'm doing better. Just a little tired. Ok, very tired. I took a 2 hour nap this afternoon. I did my menu for the next 2 weeks and went grocery shopping. I've been wanting a dog. Finally got my dh to agree to one. There was a adoption fair today at the county shelter and the fee was only $14. WE went but didn't find anything that jumped out at us. I saw a cute that I liked but dh didn't so I guess we will keep looking. Saw one that I really liked but it has some pit bull in it and base doesn't allow pit bulls or pit bull mixes. Maybe another day. Then my son called. He was in the field with ROTC and hurt his ankle and knee. Great. It is a sprain but he has to be off of it for 10 days. When he went into talk to his workplace andthey let him go since he also called in on Tuesday due to ROTC. He worked at Sears. They had been him the run around for a while with his commission. He was suppose to get commission but they never put him on "active". He was on the floor making sells but he was only getting his hourly wage. He lost out on a good deal of money because of it. And there was a rumor that that store is being shut down so I guess it is just as well except he just got a car and now has a car payment. His ROTC pay will make the payment but then he won't have enough for groceries and gas. UGH, stress. I won't let it make me eat junk.
In other news, the weather was beautiful today. And should be again tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
home after running around this aft. Trying to get thru some of my emails and reading.
Kathy, you sound upbeat and back to the routine, so glad that it was not serious at the hosp.
Trying to keep up the downward momentum but I really want to do some emotional eating tonight. Should probably get out of the house but want to talk to my bf and my bff if possible. Guess if I'm talking on the phone I wont' be eating.
Have to make something for church potluck tomorrow so should do that now.There's lots to do to keep me out of trouble, IF I want to do it!
Garage sales sound great -- and I realize I haven't been to one for ages. I do go to the Consignment store though, and that is somewhat similar, just bigger items. Once we get to actually move into the new house I'll be more interested, as I'll be needing some accessories. It's kind of hard to buy them ahead of time because until you get the furniture placed around the room I think it seems smaller on the draft that I draw up than it actually is. And I always wonder about the room sizes -- do they figure in the closet when the are putting down the length or depth of a room. You can't place furniture in there, so I don't think it should be in the measurement. For example is your room lists 12 feet, but 3 or 4 feet is taken up by the closet it's not going to leave ample room for the bed. I won't really know until I see them building the house.
Today some people are coming by to pick up my grandfather clock. I was in the store that has consignment furniture and I saw them looking at a grandfather clock -- it wasn't nearly as pretty as mine, so I went over and talked to them and gave them my card. It worked, they are buying it! If you're not using something it's time to get rid of it.
Hope the rain has eased off as we're probably heading back up to Yarnell. Have to be here for a meeting next Tuesday night. Always have some appointment.
Lynette, you can be sure we'll all be praying for your brother and keeping him in our thoughts and he's lucky he' s got you to come home with him afterwards for healing time.
Happy birthday Alyssa! your new pic is awesome!
Hello Lynette! - no "hoovering" of the snacks!!!! - get out a small portion so you will stop when that is done. hope your brother is doing well.
Good going on that walk Eve. I have a nut "addiction" myself - go through a container a week!
Renee - I'm sorry the job fair didn't work out - hang in there
Vicki - no dieting!!!! change your lifestyle - you don't need a diet you need a new WOE - way of eating! remember you have to do this the rest of your life so pick something you can live with!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I got to come home late last night. Was diagnosed as stress induced chest wall pain...so my heart is ok!

With doctors permission I am back to exercising today. Got my workout in plus an hour walk!

and I lost another pound.

Happy birthday Alyssa and thank you for telling us about your internship. A good teacher is a gift to the world so I wish you the very best. I taught in a school for 4 years, then worked in various educational capacities, non-profits, Boys and Girls Club, museum. I'm retired now.
But that doesn't mean my days aren't full. I am gimpy today after a treatment at the doc yesterday. Volunteering at the store this aft, then meeting a friend to see a play. My bro had open heart surgery yesterday, where they repaired 2 valves and did a bypass so pls include him in your prayers, ladies. The plan is that I'll go to his place (3 hours away) when he is home from the hosp, to be his nurse/companion.
We may break the record from 1898 today, so guess I'd better get in some movement before the temp starts to climb.

Good morning, everyone! I finally have a chance to write and get caught up a little bit.

Eve, thanks for the encouragement! Window shopping sounds like fun and having fun is definitely the best way to get in some exercise! And when you're shopping for the new house you're multitasking so that's gotta make you feel good!

Vicki, thanks for the luck with with my allergy medicines. My allergies didn't bother me too much this summer, but for the past couple weeks they've been driving me crazy. Pollen count has been very high lately. I haven't found the perfect combination, but I have found one that gets me through the majority of the day. I don't really get sneezy/cranky until the evening now. Thank you for the birthday wishes! Good luck with the new diet plans.

I have added the picture of my new outfit to my sparkpage and I made it my profile picture as well. My internship has went really well this week. For those of you who wanted to know more about my internship, I am completing my (second) Master's degree in Teaching Students with Disabilities. One of the final requirements of this degree is an internship. The internship is very similar to student teaching, but with a little more freedom since I already completed student teaching in my undergraduate program. I will have to type up four formal lessons that my professor and host teacher will then observe me teach. The host teacher I am working with is a special education teacher. She has a class of 12 students from ages 5-7 who all have disabilities. Besides the four formal lessons, I have created a learning contract of areas of teaching that I would like to work on during my internship. For example, many of the students in this classroom have intellectual disabilities. I am interested in learning more about teaching strategies that may help these students. I will do some research online about teaching strategies, interview my host teacher about strategies that she uses, and then create a lesson plan using one of the strategies I learned about and analyze it to see how well the strategy works for the students in this class. My other responsibilities include working one-on-one with students as well as with small groups of students. My internship is a 10 week program and by the last 3 weeks I will have taken over a majority of my teacher's responsibilities (teaching the class, assessing the students, grading, etc.). Right now I am still getting to know the students (and staff), but I am really enjoying working in this classroom.

I have my internship Monday-Wednesday. Wednesday nights I have two classes. One is my seminar for my internship. We work on our learning contract and making sure we have everything we need to be successful in our internship. My second class is on teaching students with severe and multiple disabilities. Then on Thursday nights I have a class on using assistive technology. The college that I go to is an hour and a half away from where I live. To avoid 5 o'clock traffic on Thursdays I've decided to go up to college early and just work on homework until class. But today's my birthday and going to school early to work on homework seems quite lame. So instead I will be meeting up with a friend of mine for dinner before class.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!

Kathy, hope everything turns out ok with your test.

It was in the 90's and humid today. I walked to the job fair today. I was so hot when I got there. It was a bust. I waited 2 hours in the hot building and never got to talk to anyone. So I walked home again. Got a good workout in today. Heading to bed soon.

Have a great evening.

Kathy, so sad to hear you are in the hospital. But it proves one thing -- the world goes on even without you, and that's a clue that you shouldn't spend ALL YOUR TIME catering to the needs of other people. You have needs too! Be sure to give yourself some me time. Stress tests usually indicate the doctors think there may be chances of heart attacks, so I hope yours comes out OK.

Lynette, I know what you mean about being in the house. If you are watching TV all it shows is temptations! And a computer isn't much better, there are reminders everywhere! And they all seem to be screaming eat me, eat me! For me, nuts can be really addictive.

Vicki, I knew your meetings would go perfectly -- I think you are a born leader! What happens to all of your house cleaning? Or are the meetings in the evening? At least you can't eat during the meeting -- think before eating, if you can't break a flower plate, I'll come and do it, you will probably sew your mouth shut. lol Just teasing you, of course, I remember when my GS broke his jaw and they literally do sew your mouth shut. It seemed like forever that he had to suck his food through a straw, so it's mostly milk shakes, smoothies, etc.

I was really diligent with my eating yesterday AND I took Amber for a nice walk. Only 82F but I could tell the humidity was really high. My hair was wet when I returned home. It was worth it when I got on the scale as it went down .8

Kathy, I hope you are able to get some answers and feel a whole lot better.
Vicki, you are a whirling dervish as usual. I am another like you and Eve, I don't eat while I'm busy but watch out when I am in the house with just the tv and/or computer and I just inhale like a bloody vacuum cleaner. Last night I ate half a can of nuts, just couldn't seem to help myself after doing well for several days.
Alyssa, pls tell us about your internship. This forum is a short-cut to find out about folks especially specific info: we all like to learn more about our friends here.
Eve, window shopping is a great way to get in steps. I mall walk sometimes to get in some steps. And on that note, I'm going to get going on my day.
Have a good one, everybody including Mike, Mike, Mike

Well, I wasn't going to let the rain ruin my entire day, so if I couldn't walk, I decided to 'window' shop and get my walking in that way. I found out several things I didn't know. First of all, Lamps Plus now carries several chairs and small tables, such as end tables. I even saw bar stools there and cheaper than what I paid at the consignment store. But I'm happy with the ones I bought, I know they cost a LOT more than what I paid (when new). And I browsed through Penny's Home Store for ideas in bedspreads, etc. No real bargains there, but I did get some good ideas. Plus I got in lots of steps.

My weight is going up, but I'm afraid it's because I'm not eating enough. So I'm getting back on a plan today -- for me it's too easy to just skip a meal when I'm out shopping. And then I'm so hungry when I get home I grab candy to eat before real food. Bad habits have to go.

Everyone seems to be doing fine -- and Alyssa glad your first day went so well. It will be interesting to see the outfit you chose -- not just the outfit, but I hope you are in it as well. I know I'm so used to wearing jeans and T-shirt so sometimes I have to put on make-up and a dress just to remember what it's like. lol

Just stopping in quick to say my first day at my internship was great. Looking forward to going back tomorrow. I did take a picture of the outfit I wore today, but no time to upload it now. Hopefully will have a chance tomorrow or later on in the week. I'll also hopefully have a chance to catch up on everyone else's posts. Hope everyone is doing well.

I'm back in Glendale again, gals. Will stay here with my pets for awhile so the trailer will not get the best of me.

Nothing going on with the house. The plans had to go back to the drawing board, and then in Engineering (sigh) I've just given up and am going with the flow. Watching HGTV last night, and decided to check at HomeGoods for a TV stand. I'm sure to find one that's a lighter color and cheaper than the one at the Room Store. So on the bar stools I saved $200, let's see how much I can save on the TV stand. I even saw a nice one at the consignment store if I have to go that route. When it's steel and glass there isn't too much you can do to damage it.

Now it's raining here, so the temperature is OK for walking, but who wants to walk in rain? I guess I'll concede to going to the gym today. Have ironing to do right now, so more later.

scale played a little trick on me this morning: showed me a lovely, lower #, but when I got on again (and again and again!) it was the same as yesterday.....

Kathy one day should not hurt but back on track now and yes make the pizza with low fat and lean beef just make it work for you so you can have one slice

Alyssa sorry you have allergies hope your meds work soon - have fun with the kids

Eve that is a good idea but no way will I break a flower to much work but I will remember that every time I eat something bad - the DR never gave me a name for what I have just said my Immune system is out of wak lucky me - enjoy your rose garden kido and when do they start the house or have they?? - all you guys can stay here I have lots of room and lots of cars so lets see if Nebraska is the center hub

Lynette it would be nice for all of us to get together what storys we could tell - send some of that rain my way we need it so bad - Iike I told Eve my Immune system is weird - the neighbor says I have heat rash-chickenpox-singles-hives all rolled up in one so yap immune system is waked - when I get a free min will check out on the map where everyone is and see where center is but we really need to do this can't wait

Went to church then came home did a hour of exercise and went on the motorcycles for a little while stopped at Del's Dads for a little bit and found out they want me to have Christmas here for Del's Step Mom is not up to doing it any more to weak but glad they asked now so I can get ready for it and not a surprise in Dec - today going to clean Leah's Boss office a little shopping then home - then the week of Hell have a VFW meeting every night for 3 days oh well may learn something new for our group and that is what happens when your District President - need to get a little exercise in before I leave chat later

Great ideas, Eve.
I would love to participate, pretty much willing to go anywhere that is reasonable in cost. You are all welcome to come to my house in Calgary, Alberta , I'd suggest while Stampede is on in early July, the greatest outdoor show on earth!
Maybe in the new year we can put our heads together and come up with a plan...

Actually the least expensive way for all of us to get together, would be to meet at someone's house. True, most people only have one spare bedroom, but for short people like me, even a sofa would be OK. I say this because motels can really take a bite out of the budget quickly. And if we were at someone's house we could eat at home more and share grocery expense, and probably would not have to rent a car either. We should keep it to 4 or 5 people, which I know would be hard, but it would be cheaper.

When it gets nearer to the time we can figure it out on the map, and maybe even estimate about what it would end up costing.
