My doctor has now taken me off the Vita D. My levels are now back to were they belong. I don't think you should take additional Vita D unless you know that your level are low. I had two different doctors tell me to take extra because of it being very low.

Of course now we are heading into the winter months without all of the sunshine. So the Vita D from that will be lost. I am ready for winter.

My Dr. has me on 1000 units of vitamin D3 daily. Mine showed I was low on lab tests, but is at a good level now.

Very interesting - I am going to start taking more Vitamin D!! Don't know if I am low in it or not. But it doesn't sound like too much would hurt you??

My doctor tested me and found me low in Vitamin D and I had a prescription strength one to take for a bit. Now I try to wander outdoors on sunny days and I have a "gummy" Vitamin D (lemon-flavored :-) as well as 5000 IUD small pills I found that I take once or twice a week, when I'm in the mood. The Vitamin D does seem to help my sleep/energy a bit which in turn helps my breathing. Don't know. Next the doctor decide I was low on B12 so I take that occasionally too (as well as a B vitamin complex) and that helps the energy too.

The quarter (I see my doctor quarterly) I am trying to be maintenance inhaler compliant so I don't use my rescue inhaler as much. Usually that helps some but not completely or only for awhile, etc. and I end up using exactly the same number of puffs/number of inhalers as "usual".

My asthma is adult-onset (when I was in my 50s) and I think has a lot to do with my gut. My appendix burst and I had an infection that wandered around my insides for 5 months and got over-treated with antibiotics and think that damaged things and triggered my genetic susceptibility (my mother's mother died of COPD, was a 3 pack a day smoker but she was also in her mid-80s).

One month of taking the supplements and there is no difference in the asthma. I am not taking it for the asthma but it would have been nice to get some relief.

I have been told by two different Doctors in the past month that my Vit D count is very low and to add a supplement to my diet. 2000 IU. I also then read that it could be a big help to relieve some of my asthma problems.
Any thoughts on this?
