I'm really such a simple person, my perfect day would be to wake up in a house out in the Oklahoma countryside, grab my morning coffee and my Bible and head out to the porch and sit under the beautiful painted sky as the sun rises, and there is a light drizzle. To me that would be the beginning of the perfect day.

I really haven't done any marathons either. I also signed up for the Alzheimer's walk. In high school(30+ years ago) I did the march of dimes walk several times and it was 20 miles which took all day. I did a benefit walk in 1994 for St Pius school when my son was in pre-k. I think we did 15 miles-and I carried him for part of it. I did an American Heart assn walk with Santa rosa a few years ago( I think it was 3 miles). I'm up for a challenge. emoticon

I've never done a marathon before, but I always wanted to. I signed up for the Alzheimers Walk in October because I figured it was a good place to start! Looking forward to meeting the members that signed up, it should be fun!

I did a 5k last September, the Rock N Roll half marathon in November and the Zooma Women's Half Marathon just last month.
I guess this would be a great place to put a little plug in -

My church is sponsoring a 5k run/walk and 1 mile family stroll on June 11 as part of their VBS Sports Camp Week! You do not have to participate in VBS to do the run or walk.

Id like to get with some spark ppl but they would have to go slower than they probably would want to plus i dont drive so id need a ride. I have a pond with a track around it. The ducks, geese and black swan are fun to watch.

I have only done one 5K so far, the SAMM Street2Feet 5K. I had Lillie by my side the whole way, and she pushed me hard. I was so glad to have several Sparkers there with me for my first one. I definitely needed the support!

I can't wait to do other 5Ks, the cost is just limiting to me right now.

I did the MS 5K walk as a stroll in 2004 with my kids. I was so out of shape and didn't push at all, along with several other friends we were about the last to finish and it was a HUGE crowd. We even stopped and chatted for a while along the way. Then I did the Jingle Bell 5K last December and Lillie pushed me through to the end and made me feel so accomplished. I will do more in the future. The last one I went to, the Street to Feet 5k, I fell and busted up my knee and didn't finish, but oh well...another day, another 5K! Off to the Zipline adventure now! Woo Hoo!

I've done three 5Ks now and then that 2-mile Walk for Autism this year. At two of the 5Ks, there were team members there, but we all walked/ran at different speeds so we weren't together necessarily, though we hung out before and after. The Walk for Autism was cool because we all got to walk in a group and talk and such.

I did the San Antonio Walk MS 5k and the Walk for Autism (which was actually only a couple miles) I did both of those with Sparkies. I really do enjoy them and I look forward to doing more.

This was fun! I skimmed my library to come up with these because I blanked when I read the question except for Sondheim selections since I had just heard a radio thing about him today. I sing along with just about anything I can. :-)

I have a few favorite sounds...

The sound of insects (cicadas, crickets, etc...) at night, out in the wilderness. Camping and hearing that sound reminds me how beautifully diverse God's creation is.

The sound of my husband playing his French Horn. I can HEAR how much he loves the music.

The sound of my cat purring as I lay down to sleep each night. She sleeps above my head on my pillow, so the purring is my lullaby.

Other random favorites:
The sound of a really good tackle.
The sound of high heels on a tile or wood floor.
The sound of children singing about Jesus.
The sound of popcorn popping.

"Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts."
- Winston Churchill

I absolutely love the sound of rain and thunder. It makes me want to snuggle up in bed with a few good movies. Really, any sound of water is comforting to me. A river, creek, even the water filter in our aquarium.

A sound that I love is when I wake up my little girl and she tells me good morning and I love you momma :) a sound that takes me back but I don't really know if they play it anymore, AMC used to have this in between sound when coming back to an old movie on Saturdays or Sundays. It reminds me of watching old movies with my mom growing up.

For me the sound of airplanes overhead makes me nostalgic since I grew up near an air force base. Also, oddly, the sound of guinea pigs squeaking, because I had them as a kid too.

I feel so peaceful when I hear female jazz singers, especially the great oldies like Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, and Lena Horne, or today's great Diana Krall. Their voices take me to a place before my time, where it feels like the earth is singing from its soul.

Rain on a tin roof is especially comforting to me, as is the sound of a strong breeze causing leaves to rustle in the trees. I love late night thunderstorms, too.

Waterfalls and birds chirping. When i see cardinals i think of my dad. When i took care of him while he was dying of cancer. We hung a bird feeder by his bedroom window.

The sound of a train going by at night, the sound of running water, and thunderstorm. They all make me feel calm and comforted.

What is a sound that you love to hear, whether it comforts you, makes you happy, or just makes you feel nostalgic?

Well, when I was younger I loved rollercoasters, and did some pretty adventurous stuff that I shouldn't talk about

I haven't been on a rollercoaster since my daughter was born, she is NOT a thrill seeker, LOL but I would LOVE to one day do zipline, helicopter ride, and skydiving, and the skycoaster at Schlitterbahn.
