well, I'll answer!

I also liked the SPICE challenge. it really covered ALL aspects of a healthy lifestyle and let to a very involved team. It's big though, so it takes lots of dedication from everyone who signs up.

What was your favorite Challenge? How much did you lose?

Mine was the Spice Challenge at the end of 2014, I lost about 9 lbs. and a few inches. I felt great. Yes I've gained it back but the tracking of the food is what got me through it.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life.

It's Alaska for me, it was amazing!! There is so much natural beauty that hasn't been touched by over population, buildings, smog, etc. The largest mountains I have ever seen, and so many different types of wild animals. I loved every minute I was there, and definitely want to go back again.

I love running. I am can't run very long or far yet, but I have been doing interval training similar to C25K and I love it. I stopped after hurting my foot back in October, and I shortly after found out I am pregnant. Since joints become a little looser during pregnancy, I am sticking to walking to prevent hurting myself again. I can't wait to start back up with my interval training after baby is here. I love pushing myself and seeing the improvement over time.

One step at a time, one day at a time, one habit at a time.

I agree a good weight loss program should be teaching how to maintain without using their food or drink products. If not once you can't afford it anymore, and stop eating or drinking their products. You are back where you started or even gained more weight back.

I have to agree with you, Gail - a plan like that just teaches you that if you want to lose weight, you have to keep throwing money away on fake food filled with preservatives. I think you made the right choice to ditch that plan!

Several years ago, I tried the Quick Weight Loss plan. Now some of you may ask, "What's so wacky about that?" It works if you stick to it, which I did for a while; it provides support, and it should given how much it costs; and a LOT of people have lost a LOT of weight on the plan.

Here's why I think it is wacky:
1) It is incredibly expensive; why would someone with very little discretionary money spend large sums on "fake" food?
2) It sells "fake" food.
3) For people who love it, it becomes almost a "cult" following.
4) It stresses buying/using the "fake" food over teaching participants how to eat regular food in regular proportions to lose weight.
5) There is very little mention of exercise of any type.

So, given that we all know that losing weight comes down to a simple formula of eating real food in reasonable portions combined with regular, consistent exercise, everything else is just purely wacky, right??????

The cabbage diet with a group of ladies at work. The worse diet ever, and I don't even like cabbage, so I just sipped the liquid for 7 days, along with few items you were allowed to eat. Yes I lost some weight from not eating hardly anything. It didn't help me keep it off. Horrible diet!!! emoticon

In 1978-79-80 when I was just getting chubby (ages 18-20) the hot fad was to use AYDS diet candy to suppress your appetite. They really did taste delicious, but all they did for me was fuel my lust for sweets. I would eat more of them for the taste, thinking they were good for me. They really were kind of a crap diet aid, and possibly part of why I continued to yoyo and gain. Then the AIDS epidemic came out and the name was so close that it pretty much killed the product. True story.

I would have to say the most crazy diet I have tried is the Shangri-La Diet. In a nutshell, the plan is designed to lower your "set point" by consuming a flavorless oil between meals (1-2 tablespoons of extra light olive oil). That's right, to lose weight, you have to drink olive oil between meals.

I gave it a solid try, but after a week of choking down spoonful after spoonful of olive oil, I just couldn't do it any longer. The texture of it, the subsequent stomach issues that ensued, the "oily burps" - all of it was too much to take so I threw in the towel. (On the plus side, my hair got very shiny!)

Here's a link to the article in Woman's Day magazine that inspired me to try out this fad diet: media.sethroberts.net/reviews/2006-1

I usually start asking people to accompany me to the gym, at least to get me going. I also put my yoga mat at the bottom of the stairs so I see it first thing in the morning after getting up. I don't allow all of my work out clothes to be dirty at once, so can't say I don't want to work out in my regular clothes! My biggest motivator is how I feel. I get stiffer and more sore when I don't work out on at least a semi-regular basis. I feel sluggish and tired when I am not eating properly. This will motivate me eventually, because I don't like walking like an old lady!

I have found that I do a lot better if I set myself up to succeed by preparing ahead. For instance, if I can get my workout clothes laid out the night before, then I am much more likely to jump out of bed when the alarm goes off. If I cook and prep food on the weekends for the rest of the week, then I am much more likely to eat the healthy food that I had already prepared.

Aside from meditation using positive affirmations, I find just going somewhere new, especially with my husband, even in my own town, helps relieve some of my stress. I'm a traveler at heart, though I am rooted here at home as well. My favorite stress reliever is getting together with friends and laughing.

Listening to music, and walking are my favorite stress relievers. Music just seems to melt my stress away, Walking helps me break away from whatever is bothering me, to think a little clearer.

Being around my husband and my dogs always lowers my stress. And like Emily, playing video games and reading also help with stress. Exercise does too (when I can make myself get off my butt and do it, lol!)

I want to buy a house in San Antonio so that I can finally physically be where I already am psychically!

I also use Diabetes and Glandular Disease Clinic. I am diabetic and see Dr. Pamar there. I really like it and I am usually in and out pretty quick for such a busy place.

I love to go walking, a habit I picked up when I was in Germany. And it doesn't matter if it's raining or cold like it is now. I'll just bundle up accordingly and go walking.

I haven't been to either place, but I love how you both made wonderful memories in my home country. :)

What place that you haven't been to yet is at the top of your wish list of places to visit?
emoticon emoticon emoticon

This is a tough one for me as my wish list is very long and I would love to see all of the world. I think the place I would like to see the most is the Galapagos Islands. One day!

Pompeii is on my list, Heidi!

The place I remember so vividly, even though I was a child, and still consider my favorite place is Altes Schloss Eremitage in Bayreuth, Germany (Bavaria). We lived right near there and visited the Hermitage and castle of Margrave Georg Wilhelm. The grounds, gardens, fountains, birds, buildings, all mesmerized me. It was also walking distance to Haus Wahnfried, the home of composer Richard Wagner, and because of my father's classical recordings of his works I was fascinated standing at the grave and by the home of someone so important. Even with all the splendor and beauty of the area, I felt like I belonged there and yearned to go over and over, as often as my parents would take us. I have always said I would return one day.

My favorite place I visited so far is Pompeii. It felt like traveling back in time and seeing history come to life.

I like to bring sushi! Usually just California Rolls because they are cheaper to make and most people like them.
