Unfortunately it looks like people are being bussed in and being paid to incite in some places. So, So wrong. I was really touched by the number of police in some places that peacefully took a knee and allowed the peaceful protests, agreeing with people that police violence is unacceptable.
then i was happy to see a group of white women stand, arms linked, between peaceful protesters and police with gas and bullets, to allow the protesters to be able to make their point without fear.
and i was happy to see a fully decked out police officer, who was separated from his other officers, the fear in his face, and then the circle of black men that surrounded him, facing out..to keep HIM safe.
and lastly..one of the protest organizers in denver, being interviewed on tv, that broke through the reporters to stop someone defacing public property. this is NOT what this is about he yelled at the guy. This is to STOP the violence and destruction!

i prefer to see and look for the good things...the above, to me, is all positive...

JAMES, thank you for your advice/input!!! Especially with the Violence & Retribution to show how angry a specific culture is acting out it is a concern. Madison WI has had a very violent night & coming this way. I fear all the racial & violence more than the Corona Virus. He stopped in today to put more boxes in the garage. I asked if he was ok and he just took off.

Breathe in . . . breathe out!!! I've lived thru the 60's. It's a horrible nightmare & it has erupted many times since then. I want to stay calm & do what I need to do to encourage HOPE, PEACE, and Compatibility. Hugs to all!!!

HATE is destructive and seems to cause more NUMBERS to participate than LOVE, & ACCEPTANCE. & PRAYER. emoticon

FIINALEE,
your housemate wants you to text him? Is this so he has some sort of "written" things that he can defend himself with, or use in court?

I don't understand. But, what my wife always did at work, where most things were done via e-mail, was to stick to the facts, and keep the emotions down. She would often compose an e-mail, but not send it, save it as a draft, then let a few hours go by, even perhaps a day, read it again and go ... that's a little harsh, that verb has some extra negative undertones, I'll change it.

Then, perhaps after a little modification, send it. I remember a commercial for something, the person, having sent something was desperately looking for the "un-send button", and to press it quickly.

Good Morning- It is a cool day here! Love it.

NIGHT Good idea to wait for help with the branch - you don't want to mess up your back now that you are making progress in PT.

HOLLY CALI- Love your yard and the beautiful flowers. Especially those Calla Lily !!
My DD carried a large bouquet of Calla Lily down the aisle on her wedding day. Coincidentally, she wanted a certain color Calla Lily so they were flown in from California.
Congrats on maintaining your weight. So happy you finally got to your goal- must be a wonderful feeling.
That was a good idea to get checked out. Annoying when the docs are so quick to chalk everything up to "just arthritis". Good job getting to the real results about your problem.
Always good to know for sure.

KD I am exhausted just reading about your yard work! That was a cute idea to watch the haircut show with sis. She is so lucky to have your support. Such a stressful time for her.

LIMELITE - How is your plan with higher protein going? I have been reading much new information regarding that train of thought. Hope it works.

I am going outside again. I am doing my best to soak up the Vitamin D I so badly need. Hopefully when I have my next blood work done it will show a good Vit D number that is in the normal range. Apparently the supplements are not helping. I think I have an absorption problem.
Have a wonderful day everyone.

Hi Read!! sounds like a wonderful day..i remmeber the Ramona Books..what sticks in my mind was Ramona in the dress her mom made her (that didnt come out right..my mom didnt sew so i knew that feeling) and pulling the giant beet and getting beet stains all over. and henry huggins with his jangling spurs mimicking her in ballet class...brought back all kinds of smiles!!

KD wow lot of work!! nope branch is still there. have to wait till i can either barter with bakery stuff or one of my kids is allowed to come. i've looked at it every which way, it seems like its pretty secure where it is, i'll just bring luce in if it gets windy.

when i went out to clean her pen i opened the door and OH JOY!! its cool..46..and wonderful out!! i was so happy!!

i splurged on a dash mini griddle..i love pancakes but the batter i use spreads so much they are really thin..and i like them thicker..so..it was on sale for $6.99 and i got it. it arrived on friday..its making its maiden pancake run as we speak!! one is done and looks perfect!!

after breakfast my one cake pickup of the week..and i am going to relax the rest of the day!

Good morning Team Keto!

Looks like another gorgeous day. My body is very sore today after all the bending and pulling of roots under the surface in my garden I did. Three more edgers for the first garden, then about 25 for the second one. I bought a rake and a shovel, so maybe more of that today. If I can finish the edgers on the one and get it raked / tilled I will be happy. And sore. But that is what a pool and hot tub are for I guess.

My sister came over and I buzzed her hair - she kept asking "do I look bad?" and I said "no you look bald!" I had a TV show recorded (Haircut Night in America) which was a comedy with celebrities cutting/coloring their own hair during quarantine which was really funny. We both enjoyed it. And I made tomato chicken and creamed spinach, which was quick and tasty. She doesn't eat red meat, so my options are limited with her. But she will eat keto, even if she does her own thing when she's not here.

Read I'm glad you got good family time, including the fire pit. I miss that a lot. My sister thinks my stairs are too steep (the guest rooms are upstairs, and she's always wanting to stay over and sleep on my couch downstairs) and she can't stand for more than a few minutes at a time, so she will not be helping me at all with any of my projects. As it is, I feel like her handyman. I went over and hung pictures, window coverings, and got up on the ladder to fill up some new cabinets we (my brother and SIL and I) installed several months ago.

Holly I hope you got the tree limb successfully and safely removed. Hard to have that hanging over you (haha - see what I did there?)

Kathleen the best part about your arrangement is they will cook your food how you like it. Chinese is not my favorite just for that reason - you never know what they are cooking it in/with and I never know what to order that will be safe. DH loves Chinese food. I'd like to be better at cooking it myself.

HollyCA I do love the flowers in your garden. So bright and beautiful!

Urban your church sounds like it's doing things right. I'm sure it's great to get back to worshiping in person. They are opening up churches here too - not sure I'm ready for that quite yet.

Lime how is your high protein protocol going? I, like James, think it would be very difficult to get that much protein in unless you are doing protein powder. Do you feel a difference?

James and Brad - HI!!

Hello all! Beautiful day yesterday! In the morning, doing laundry and puttering around outside with DGD. She really cracks me up, she just is very witty like her dad. Then after eating lunch on the patio, put the old chaise lounges out in the sun and read Ramona Quimby, Age 8. I love the old books and it is such a joy to introduce her to them. DH went to pick up DS after he got off work and then DGD and he went golfing. They invited me to go along, but I thought they needed some time just the two of them. When he got here and out of the pickup, she ran downstairs and out to give him a big hug. Reminds me that she is just 8 and misses her daddy. Then last evening first fire of the season. It really was wonderful. Today is church on zoom, then we will hopefully go down to the timber for awhile before taking the two of them back to DS's home where DIL will pick her up. Family was here for the fire so not sure whether she will let her come again any time soon. We'll see.

Night, great news about your back! I think you are smart to wait for help on the tree limb. Especially since you are alone and if anything went wrong you would be in a real pickle.

Kathleen, what a nice beneficial to both situation you have with the Chinese restaurant people! I know what you mean about going a little stir crazy. At least with the nice weather I can get outside now.

Urban, DH and I go for long drives and it does help to just get out of the house and see what there is to see. I'm glad you are having nice weather there also. Archie sounds so adorable. I would like to see the sitting between your feet trick lol. I have loved seeing all the quilts, yours and everyone's!

KD, you are being a wonderful sister. My sister buzzed my hair for me. Somehow having a woman do it was comforting to me. And lovely to get her the nice hats. I did get to the point that hats were too hot and I just went around as a baldy. Different comfort levels for everyone. My sisters are going to help me put another couple of rows of bricks on the side of the patio and around a mulched area to keep it contained. You are certainly tackling some big jobs all on your own! Good luck!

Brad, I also just love the brick floor and how nice for a kitchen! I have hardwood, which I love, but water, dogs, farmers (lol) have it looking not too great. Your kitchen will be so fabulous when it is finished.

HollyCA, your yard is stunning! I hope you get as much pleasure as I do from your flowers. And yay for you for being assertive with your doctor. I really hope that you get answers!

DGD wants breakfast so off I go. Hi to all and have a great keto day!

Never, never, never, never give up.-Winston Churchill

JC, eating slowly is a great way to let your stomach catch up with your satiety centre in your brain! Well done. I also have a couple of special spoons in my drawer :)

KD, good idea to watch TV while reverse sewing. I love your hula girl! Glad you can be there for your sister and admire her for being so practical. I'm sorry there is trouble in Minnesota...

Night, yes, I would call in reinforcements for the branch removal too. Glad your back is improving and you are on track with cake orders. I hope you are getting enough work to pay the bills. I'm acknowledging your anger and pain about the death and destruction happening. It is horrible.

Fin, I hope someone can help you with your sump pump soon. It would be Greek to me too. The rioting in the US is being broadcast over here on the news. It is very distrubing alright.

Kathleen, sitting in the sun vs shopping? I'll take the sitting in the sun too. That's a nice arrangement about the fish and the Chinese dinners.

HollyCa, congratulations about staying the same weight. I am so sorry you are going through medical uncertainty right now. I hope you get some answers soon. Your garden is beautiful.

We had a nice day here. The weather was gorgeous. We had church at our Pastor's with 9 others and had lunch together there afterward. This afternoon I watered my garden in the sun. And talked to my sis on the phone, then my daughter. It was lovely to be able to do that.

Got on the scale this morning. I am happy to be exactly the same as when I hit my under goal on 5/15!!! Progress is progress.

My Doctor finally called me back. Come to find out she doesn't like email... well I don't like to talk on the phone. She apologized for not responding. I'm still mad but will give her the benefit of the doubt. I'm going to hospital on Monday for CT scan on my head, EKG, and other tests. Hopefully it will all be nothing, but the not knowing is what is making me crazy. I was proud of my self standing up to her. I called her out on saying to me "its probably arthritis" when I mention my neck or my right hip. Will get some answers finally.

Holly NY- You are my angel. Thank you for listening and always being there for me.

Good Morning

Sounds like everyone is doing good today.

J C- Funny about using the baby spoons. When I started Keto I changed out my regular dinner plates for the luncheon sized plates for me. It looks like I have more on my plate. Using baby spoons is also a good tip.

KD Your Hula girl is so cute.

FIIN That is good news about getting the tall size. Will make a big difference for you.

I thought about going out to the grocery store for a few items just to get out of the house...........but changed my mind. Not in the mood for the drama of standing and shuffling on lines. I really don't need anything- I am just bored today. I am going to sit out in the sun for awhile and read.

We had that Chinese take out last night and they made it plain for me ( shrimp /veggies) and we still have enough for a second meal tonight. So that will be dinner again.
They love when my DH brings them fish for their family to eat. In the summer it is usually once a week.It saves them a trip to NY city to buy fish for their family. It is funny though they do not sell fish in the restaurant. But they offer to cook our fish for us any time we would like.
Right now they are only serving take out as everyone else is doing.
So we having a bartering thing going on here. Free fish = Free Chinese dinners.

Have a good day.

Fiin that how i get when my sons tell me how to do computer stuff. solution there is they jump on team viewer, access my computer and take over the cursor and show me. wish they could do that with a sump pump for you!!

I have mixed feelings on the whole minneapolis thing. a man died, begging to breathe, murdered by a cop with a rap sheet a mile long for being a law enforcement bully. no amount of anything has made these situations better. one of my dear friends posted, that while she does not agree with destruction, a meme was very dead on..it showed a black man kneeling at a football game...it said..you didnt like it when we tried to tell you peacefully....NOW will you listen? with a picture of the destruction.
one thing i LIKED this morning..a picture of a peaceful demonstration going on...circled around the protestors were many, many white women, arms linked, between the protestors and the police. The protestors made their point. the white women made theirs, and noone got hurt, nothing was damaged.
I'm also seeing VERY disturbing reports of people being "antagonists"..plants to incite the rioting. and i saw it because one woman was horrified when she spotted one of the people doing the inciting in minneapolis..and identified him as her ex, who is law enforcement. encouraging and leading the people to loot. i have ZERO idea if its true, but it was terribly disturbing. when i talked to my dear friend that used to be in riot law enforcement and asked him about that..he took a deep breath, let out a sigh, and said unfortunately yes, its a thing..and i wouldnt doubt it happened. he is trying to find more info to back it up.

what bothers me the most, and here is where i can understand the anger and outrage. The man was in cuffs, he was NOT resisting..first responders were screaming at the cop to get off his neck. medical personell...begging for the cop to stop. If that was my son, brother, father...i'd probably do some destruction of my own.
I have family, retired now, that were high up in law enforcement. I am a huge supporter of law enforcement. My own son was profiled more than one..the only reason? he had hair he could sit on, therefore was labelled as "a druggie". Know why my kid had hair down to his butt? because my sig other was dying from cancer. Billy loved him, there was nothing he could do, so he grew his hair to cut and send for someone with cancer to get a wig.
he had to get a special release from his work to grow it. he was never, EVER in trouble, top of his class highest honors in both high school and college. treated like crap by some law enforcement. and you bet i was angry.
so, i can see both sides. i NEVER think destruction is the way to go. but i feel the anger..and the injustice. and it all makes me sick. and i dont have any answers. wish i did.

Sunny Cool Morning from WI!!! water heater drained, off & ready to be removed. Fingers crossed. HM said 9:30'ish so that may mean an extra hour. Whatever it takes!!! There was a movie where the husband/father (H/F) lost his job & his wife was promoted to a HIGH paying job. He was taking care of kids, house, social life, etc. When he felt threatened by his wife's boss coming into the house & HF had something in his hand & Boss said something like, 'you creating a better 220 electrical current' & H/B says: 220 --- 221 whatever it takes. Great line. I still giggle thinking about that entire movie.

My sons texted me with a solution to my sump pump's float to open & manually start. LOL!! Seriously??? I replied that I didn't have a clue where to locate the float, what I should do, & they are speaking GREEK to me. It's a submersible pump & the tank is deeper than I am tall. It was probably was dug that deep taking advantage of the cistern that was in that location & being located at the crest of the hill. I using YouTube to figure it out but my brain is over whelmed so I need to LET IT GO for right now.

MN event is Disturbing to me also. I feel like I'm back in the 60's and I still can't make heads or tails out of the Distruction. Horrible igniting situation and what is gained by FIRES, Looting, Violence? Will it bring HIM back? Will it help us all to UNDERSTAND? My Heart feels shredded. The 60';s were violent & it appears the HATE on both sides have NOT improved. It's just waiting for an INJUSTICE and everything BLOWS up again. emoticon

JAMES, thank you for sharing your story. I'm on my Guard & staying calm as possible. I need to do my part & speak clearly, bluntly & watch his eyes. Mostly it's TEXTING due to wanting the info in WRITING. He's suppose to stick around to help drag the old heater out of the basement.

TEAM, have a safe day that thoughts, actions, movement, entertainment lightens your day & brings YOU JOY!!! YYYYiiippppeeeee!!!!

JC i do that with the baby spoons too!! especially with ice cream. and way to go on the no peels on the cukes...you get rid of most of the carbs when the peels go!

on my back..not a nerve thing. the way the PT explained it is this. with the bones disintigrating, everything shifted. it has to have been going on a very, very long time...and the vertebrae are all wonky in there. most people have pain from the very start...i'm so used to pain I dont notice it like most do. which can be a bad thing, as i would have said something far sooner and things wouldnt have gotten to this point. the crunching and twisting of the vertebrae is in that small space that always hurt to have touched..otherwise..i dont feel it. She was so surprised yesterday, as was i. apparently the PT, and my work at home, has shifted things back into line, alleviating the worst of things. thank goodness!! i go twice next week, then only once a week for a bit. I'm fastidious about doing the work they give me, so I will be cut loose far sooner than i thought!!

just got a rush cake order for tomorrow so i'm off. still thinking about how to get the branch off the porch roof safely. its huge, and standing straight upright. i'm afraid kicking the bottom out of it might be really dangerous. i gave away my climbing gear ages ago, not that i'd feel comfortable doing this alone anyhow. will probably have to call in reinforcements, and that makes me unhappy..i like to take care of things myself but i'm not dumb..this one i think is too much for me. if it was smaller, or in less of a precarious position, i'd do it.

off to the bakery..i baked the cake late last night so have to just build and decorate.

Good morning team keto!

Yes Urban, reverse sewing happens in my house quite often from time to time!! I just sigh and put the tv on so make it less laborious. Glad you got a road trip to get out of the house.

Holly so glad to hear about your back pain resolving - I agree - that sounds like a nerve issue and maybe the PT and massage is taking care of it!

I plan on working on the bricks surrounding the front gardens today - I need to find a shovel and a hard rake that seems to have been misplaced or disappeared. DH is not the best about putting everything back in its place so could be anywhere (except the garage since that is now cleaned!).

And, my sister will probably come over for pool time. I cut her hair short on Wednesday (1") but it's still coming out and today she wants it buzz cut. So I will get my handy clippers out and take it all down. She is using the hats I bought her and really likes them - I ordered the ones with good reviews that said "soft" and "warm" and cute!!

I'm very distressed about the situation in Minnesota. That people think looting is ever an answer to any problem. Wishing peace and healing for that situation.

emoticon Hello Team Keto! Funny how cravings change. I use to crave salty crunchy. Yesterday I ate some cucumber slices sans peel for salt and crunch. Cucumbers always existed in my life but I would have taken something from a bag or package to fulfill a craving which never really was fulfilled. Now I appreciate every limited slice with salt and sometimes vinegar and I eat slowly, very slowly. I think I have learned to eat everything slowly and I find food is more satiating. Don't laugh, I found some kiddie spoons in a drawer and I actually use them occasionally for certain foods. My food lasts so much longer because it really slows me down and I have fond memories of using those spoons for little ones. I look at the spoon and appreciate my food more and give thanks. BTW, complete change of subject, masks really help with the pollen! I guess I always knew that but was too self conscious to wear them all the time. Pity. Have a great day everyone! JC

James, thank you for your comment about our quilts. You don't have to say anything but it's nice that you did. :)

Night, thank you. My little granddaughter loves her quilt too! And how amazing about how successful your PT is becoming!!! Yay! Oh, I do hope the maple branch comes down with no trouble to you or to Lucyfur.

Read, how wonderful that the sun came out today and lifted your mood! Lol about the dogs. Sorry to hear you won't be replaced at the school.

KD, what a beautiful quilt! I love that pattern and the colours you chose. Yes, quilting does have its challenges. The owl quilt had to be unpicked twice just for that reason - the blocks were not setting in properly! I call unpicking 'reverse sewing'. Lol! It goes with the territory for me. I love soft colours too but sometimes I wind up working with colours other than I planned as I go along. And yes, missing work will happen for time. You enjoyed your job so it will make a difference about how much you miss it....

Brad, happy Friday to you, too.

Fin, sorry your HSM tried to take advantage of you financially, but it is good you addressed it. Thank you again for admiring my quilts! Hugs back.

Ha ha HollyCa! I guess you don't have to worry about making noise any more! I love seeing all the quilts too...

Kathleen, Theresa, you have a nice day too.

I had a quiet day. We went for a short drive to get a take away coffee just to get out of the house. We were gone about 20 minutes but it broke the stay-at-home blues. I did a little more learning online today and cooked a roast beef for dinner. I trained Archie for a few minutes, a trick to get him to circle my leg and sit between my feet.. He is slightly better with it than yesterday. Maybe he will 'get it' tomorrow. He sure likes dried chicken treats and huggy pats so he will be motivated. Lol!

FIINALEE,
your house share mate reminded me of Kevin, the son of a friend of ours. He was having trouble at home, ... and indeed we know his mom, so not all his fault. So we had him move in with us. He started studying film, which was his passion.

Saturday morning I was getting annoyed, I can't remember what it was. I knocked on his door, he answered, I asked what he was doing, he was watching movies, rather than looking for a job. He said "that's what film guys do". That's when I blew a gasket.

I blew up because he was eating my food, sleeping in my house, not doing anything to put himself in a better position for the future, and watching T.V. ... because that is what "film guys do". Basically in his head we had replaced his parents, and parents provide a free place to live, and food, etc., but we were not his parents. A few other things happened, and we kicked him out. He went back home somehow thinking things would be better, but they weren't.

I have to say, he's now in his later 20's and he now understands, but at the time ... his frontal cortex was not fully developed.

KATHLEEN the brick has a sealer we painted on it to seal the brick and the grout, when we wrap up it’ll get another sealer coat and two coats of water based wax.

NIGHT, that’s wonderful news about your back... so pleased for you.

I’m looking at a long day of work tomorrow... one of the guys helping me is a good friend, so it’ll be nice to catch up.

Enjoy your evening everyone ~

NIGHT, water heaters come in SHORT & TALL. I measured & thought that from top of POWER vent to floor was how to measure. NOT. So, he'll pick up the heater today & bring it over tomorrow. Does that answer what you asked?

NIGHT, wow, that improvement indicates to me that it was nerve damage. WOW!!! I'm glad it is being addressed. Your Angels continue to watch over you!!! YYYYiiiippppeeee!!!

HM drove in at the end of my last POST. He said we could purchase a TALL. This house has the old farm door to get from outside to inside basement. When the kids were small (in fact up to about 2008) I used that door to hang out clothes, bring in & out stuff. In 2008 I had HM insulate the original wood door (grooved & fit together) so that the cold would be deterred from coming into the basement. I also put all kinds of STUFF in the stairwell to absorb cold. Then I hung a huge chenille bedspread over that wall.

I put my 36 bottle wine rack against the wall & have had no problems. I had to move all the wine, the rack, the rugs & carpet. I still have to drop the chenille but I need to rest. I've vacuumed the floor (stone/rock foundation with light plaster & white washed) & walls. Once I rest I'll open that door, vacuum the leaves & crap & silicone spray the slide that the door opens & the HINGE that holds the door up. Getting old is NOT for sissies. Living in a 1870's house takes creativity & acceptance.

Hugs to all. My transplanting will wait. I've hung out my sheets to dry & have the athletic clothes in the washer. I'll hang those out once I rest. Installation of water heater in the morning!! Life is full of challenges. We meet the challenges & move on to the next!!!

Wine, chicken & broccoli for dinner tonight. If the wind dies down I'll create a fire in the pit. Right now it's too windy. YYYYiiiippppeeeee!!!!!!

Kathleen..putting the winter cover on correctly takes 3 or 4 people. its far easier to leave it undone, jump in when i have the water level waist hi, and scoop out the leaves. i have this peculiar thing that i can pick up anything, including a dime, with my toes...so, i just walk around when i feel a pinecone i grab it and toss it out of the pool. it took me an hour the other day to get at least 2/3rds of the leaves and cones. not going to be able to finish today..there are thunder dunders coming and i know better than to get in if i can hear them at all. had too many instances of people that got hit when it was still supposedly miles away. rogue lightening..not gonna happen to me!

oh Hollycali..i can bet the hum of your mower was nothing next to that din!!!!

i just had a big huge branch come out of the old maple..right onto lucys porch roof. now i have to figure out how to get it down...not good. i dont do ladders anymore, i could climb out the hall window onto the roof but i dont know what i'm walking into!!

just got back from cupcake pickup and looked closer. if i can dislodge it with the roof rake, i might be able to get it slid down. main thing is i dont want it to fall on Lucyfur!!

Kathleen,

I was doing south beach and Atkins. Thinking I was really addressing my diabetes . My was I wrong, and wondered why I had to keep increasing meds and feeling worse. It is amazing to me how quickly I am feeling better and better by increasing fat and decreasing carb and protein.

A cloudy hot humid day here. Nothing going on either.

I tend to go over on my protein also. It is easy to do - grabbing egg/cheese/meats is a quick bite. So I always need to watch that. With the higher carb count and higher protein LIMELITES plan sounds like a South Beach or Atkins plan. I was following Atkins prior to Keto. Before Keto I was following Atkins and ate a ton of protein - that is a hard habit to break. So easy to just grab a slice of bacon when ever.

NIGHT - IIam glad your PT is going so well. Good luck with that dirty pool. I think it would be easier and less expensive in the long run if you bit the bullet and covered it. Too much work doing it that way. But you are lucky to have that pool for cooling off.

BRAD- Good news you have picky painters. They will do the job right.
Your brick kitchen floor is so beautiful. Is the brick covered with a coating? Or is that was natural? I have wide plank Ash hard wood in my kitchen and it is easy to just Mop & Glow them.I wish I had thought of brick- it is beautiful.

We are getting Chinese Take out tonight. They are going to saute shrimp plain with Chinese veggies for me. I am lucky they will do that for me.

Have a nice day.

Funny note. So I did finish my yardwork by 9am. Just half way through( about 8 am) I heard contractors at my next door neighbors house--BREAKING UP CEMENT- jack hammers and the earth was shaking. He is redoing his patio and side yard. I just laughed....and I WAS worried! hahahaha

These quilts posted are works of art. I love all of them and just amazed how talented you all are.

Heat wave has passed. Windows open, fresh cool air, AC OFF, back to normal. Running some errands today, then home for walk about the neighborhood.

I'm the same on the protein Finn. i have no trouble keeping total carbs under 10.a 20 day is rare. no problem keeping my fats over 120..and many days its more. protein, though, is hard. we have been so conditioned to over eat it..i have over 600 cookbooks (my vices..cookbooks, fabric, yarn and anything with a newfoundland on it) many of the cookbooks are very old. a pound of burger in a casserole served 6 people. a pound of spaghetti served 8. when you had chicken they were normal, small chickens, not the condors we get now. a serving was one drumstick or half a breast, or a thigh. one of the main reasons we as a country are so fat. restaurant portions are huge. most should feed four, yet we scarf the whole thing down, and if we dont get that monster serving feel gypped.

Finn is your HSM aware of the numbers in wisconsin right now? they relaxed things, and yesterday were the hotspot for new cases and hospitalizations. A friend of mine from there sent me the charts and i am worried sick about them...yet, my son who lives in minneapolis? up till now they have had the slowest because they stay home and wear masks. it doesnt take a rocket scientist to get that those screaming about "their rights" are making the rest of us stay sicker longer. its not that hard. your HSM needs a good swift dose of upside the head...

Brad..my pool gets like this because i dont cover it in the winter. I used to...then one year it was one of those winters like this one..deep freeze, partial thaw, deep freeze, and the cover filled with ice and imploded the pool. you cant fix them..and there were hundreds here that had the same thing happen. i cant afford to replace it, or the liner, so i leave it uncovered. it costs a little more in chemicals to open it, and its more effort for me cleaning out the leaves and pinecones, but its far cheaper than a new pool. and far more pleasant than no pool!!

KD thats a beautiful quilt. i did a dresden plate for my best friend from high school when she got married. she loves browns so thats what i made her..and while it is beautiful. it wasnt as pleasant to work with as the pinks purples blues and greens i love. I get it...

howdy James..our resident rocket scientist!!

amaing news...ever since i had my first baby, and my first epidural, there is a spot on my back that literally puts me through the roof if touched. i always attributed it to all the epidurals into that spinal cavity space. apparently not. at the end of my therapy sessions she gives me a massage with the hyped up icy hot. wednesday same as always..try as i might i jump when she gets to that spot. Today..i said wow..not even a twinge on the left side, thats nice. does that mean the right will be agonizing today? she said really? nothing? nope. so she slowly moves to the right...nothing. no twinge. no pain. no jumping. she stopped..says did you take pain meds yet? nope never take them till i know i dont have to drive. she said ok...listen..can you deal with me trying to replicate the pain? yup..i swear she did everything in her power....nothing. amazing..today was my 4th session. and its already back in place where it should be. so, so grateful to my doc for getting me scared about this....

Good Cool Morning from WI!!! Central A/C off!!! YYYiiippppeeee!!!!

LIME, I'm a person who can take 63-65* in my home in Winter. Cheap natural gas bill in Winter. That means I need Summer temps to be no higher than 70*. It's the way I was created!!! My Summer electric bills are astronomical. Besides that my OLD house needs window a/c on the 2nd floor to keep up with the rising heat. IT is what IT is!!!

The humidity is gone this morning. Windows & screen doors bringing fresh brisk air. AAAahhhhhh!!!!

HSM (house share mate) & I had a discussion yesterday. His self belief was that since WI is opening up he could bring his girl friend to stay the night. Then she stayed all day. NO!!! He's been respectful up to Wednesday night. His share of the house expenses have been delayed & I've attempted to be patient and as understanding as possible. Yesterday I came down on him in re: to if HE has payments, please think beyond yourself to acknowledge I have expenses. He was offended & started the 'yadda yadda yadda'. I listened & waited & said GROW UP. Life is TOUGH for all of us. I'm NOT your mother, brother, uncle, aunt-- You are 24 years old. GET a job & KEEP a job!!! That means you SHOW up for WORK each day NOT just when you feel like it. His head jerked back but he came up with a PLAN to help with expenses. DUH!! He's been working but he fritters his money on shoes & clothes and doesn't live in the REAL world of planning/budgeting & communicating his PLAN. Shutting up. Seriously. What pushes my buttons??? Being taking advantage!!! emoticon

I had this discussion with my boys when they reached the age of their driver's license. Responsibility. Decisions have consequences. They had to be on High Honor Role or they had to pay the additional car insurance. How do they earn spending money? What do they want for their self confidence? How can you achieve your Goals? It needs to be instilled in youth early. In small areas. Chores, kindness, friends, giving, understanding, blowing off steam, etc. Breathe in . . . breathe out!!! Shutting up.

Handyman (HM) is to come this morning to discuss options of water heater. I have budgeted for House Repairs so I'm ready. The replacement will be expensive due to choosing a Power Vent 12 years ago. It's fine. Since this house is OLD and the ceiling in the basement is LOW it has to be a SHORT appliance. It will work out. I'm not losing sleep over it. I just have my dehumidifier running constantly in that area with a small fan to help dry off the concrete. The leak slowed down last night so only 2 huge beach towels were partially wet.

KD, working with your bricks/pavers is a GREAT work out. Good Job!!

BRAD, painters being picky??? OMG, send them to me!!!

URBAN, your lifetime of Quilts is AMAZING!!

READ, the expense of Farm Machinery is scary to me. You two are a GREAT pair. I agree with you in re: to our weather today. I'm hopeful to transplant a peony busy & repair that patch of dead ground while the temps are enjoyable.

JAMES & NIGHT, I still struggle with Protein grams. I get the 50G and I tend to reach for meat or cheese when I'm at a loss. I'm doing my best to reach for dill pickels and I'm doing my best to guide myself into liking the pickels. Since I'm not as active as before the middle of March, I can tell how my muscles are changing in size & shape. Breathe in . . . breathe out!!!

HOLLYCA, our OLD neighborhood prefers to live by the City ordinance of 7:00 am noise. But in BAD weather, get er done is our mantra. BAD weather is SNOW & HEAT. The construction of the school addition across the street has had most of us ready to do battle.

Gotta Go

Brad (911BRAD),
I'm a Keto person, but I'm also a scientist. I say that because I have a Ph.D. in physics, ... OK, it's not nutrition, but it is a science.

So I'm always thinking numbers, formulas, logical approaches to things. As an example, when it comes to protein, I could just accept some numbers from a Keto book, or website. However I look for more science, and logic. I was surprised when a place like Wikipedia gave numbers on how much protein to eat that agreed with Keto ranges. To eat a certain amount of protein based on body weight made sense ... The more muscle you have, the more protein you need to maintain it. The more muscle you have, the more you weigh too.

So that number 0.36 grams of protein a day for each pound of body weight, its a simple formula, and it has some logic behind it.

Thanks for clearing up the protein question JAMES, that makes perfect sense.

NIGHT, how did the pool come out? Sounds like a messy job... hope you’re able to enjoy it in the coming seasons.

It feels like things are opening a little more here on a daily basis...

The painters are coming along but they’re a picky lot... not complaining, just wish it was done so the final floor finish can be applied and I can get back in.

KD, good luck with the pavers, a little every day will get it done. Beautiful quilt, I think I’d go bonkers trying to work with all those angles... fingers crossed for your August island getaway.

Happy Friday everyone,

Stormy again yesterday - but at least in the evening and not during the night. The dogs fare much better during daylight hours with thunder and lightning. My pool is full of leaves - hope the pool guy comes today.

Urban I don't know about you - but some quilts are fun to work on and some are annoying. And some are frustrating. This one was so frustrating to set the blocks - but I do love how it turned out.

Sometimes it's just what colors you are working with - I particularly like working with soft colors - blues, greens, pinks.

Going to Dr. Babcock's today for the week's work. Getting less and less every time I go over there. I'm getting used to not working, but I do miss it from time to time.

I talked to DH today - they are extending the 14 day quarantine in Hawaii until sometime in July now. Sigh. I still have my August 21 reservations intact so I hope that will eventually become reality.

I am now working on the bricks in front of my house. I buy 10 at a time at Home Depot, then lay them and say that's enough for today. They are super heavy. To go around the whole front yard will probably be 80 or so, so I have a fair amount of work in front of me.

I wish every one an excellent Friday with good food and appropriate weather!! (Perfect for me is 75-90 - I know that is much too high for many) but I am happy I live in Texas where it is warm most of the time!!

Good morning all! Woke up to sunshine!! My mood immediately is good when I see that sun peeking over the horizon. Night you would love it, high temp is supposed to be 68*. Dogs have been out and already found the mud lol. I'l wash their feet later. Meeting yesterday at school went well. Later after thinking about it, I told my coteacher for math, SS, and science that I would meet with her to plan for math review and how to fit in the new learning that this year's 5th graders missed. We're pretty sure that I won't be replaced, which means she will have a coteacher that has only done literacy in the past. As long as we do it before June 30, I'm fine. Then I can't step foot in a public school for four months. Well, DH just told me he is taking combine to town with corn head to get it worked on, so off to get dressed. I'll check in later.

thats the one, James...i remember converting from pounds to kg..then the .8. but a good rule of thumb is between 50-60g protein a day.
when i started keto i had no idea there were protein limits. i was thinking atkins, which is high protein. i did fine till i added in the fasting..then hit the wall.amazing how we can wreck our metabolisms doing what we think is the right thing...when i got the first coach, i was in despair..i'd been 3 months with no loss, and thought about quitting..but he looked at my logs and said this is easy, first stop fasting..noone needs to, and it can slow metabolism. then..cut the protein..i was doing around 100-120g a day. Lastly, your cals are far too low. those 3 thing things, fixed, i lost past the milestone (200 pounds) within, literally, 2 days..and just kept going till i finished where my doc wants me. You all know i'd like to do another 10, but i'm happy where i am, my docs are happy...so i dont stress about it.

Sue love the pink owl quilt!!! happy and pretty!!

NIGHTSKYSTAR,
the page on protein from Wikipedia is here:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protein
_(nutrien
t)

and I think the "8" in your head is from that page saying 0.8 grams a day per kilogram of body weight (which is about 0.36 grams per pound)

I've often said, if you are overweight, there is no need to take extra protein to support that extra weight, take protein to support your lean mass (muscles, organs ...) so calculate based on your target weight. Let's say your goal weight is 150 pounds, then 150 times 0.36 is about 54 grams.

That page on wikipedia also says:
" athletes may require elevated protein intake ... 1.2-1.4 g/kg for those doing endurance exercise ..." and 1.3 g per kg is about 0.6 g per pound, and a 150 pound athlete is then at 90 grams of protein a day.

Thank you, KD! It was a fun quilt to make. That storm sure sounds bad, and your night was not a good one either! Congratulations on getting the cabinet made for your bathroom the way you want it, A few extra days in the life of the house won't make too much difference, right? Your sister sounds like she is taking all the changes with her health well. No doubt you are a big part of it being OK for her.

Night, what a relief that the wasp next was so neatly encapsulated. Glad you liked the Southern Cross quilt. I found the stars fun to do and most of the ones I made were sewn while I was living in a caravan while traveling around Australia.

Kathleen, praise the Lord that man was caught before anything else happened. You must be so relieved! But the stress of it all is probably what is taking a toll on you now, on top of all the changes in society in the last few months. Hugs. Thank you for your compliment about my quilts. Like you, I really enjoy sewing them.

James, thanks for the reminder about perfectionism and the Keto way.

HollyCa, glad the weather is cooler and yay on getting so much done in the garden. I hope you did get to enjoy that walk.

Fin, how wonderful you now have someone you trust working on your neck. Whew! Thank you about my quilts.

Limelite, thank you also! Glad you are feeling less cold now your summer is arriving.

Archie has been so insistent about playing today. He is very affectionate and playful at different periods of the day but today he seems to have a lot more energy! He has been on a walk and I have spent a few hours (off and on) playing with him, so that has taken up a fair bit of today. In between I have been listening to educational podcasts. Hubby has been napping a lot, probably due to his new painkillers.

Today's quilt is covered in pink and cream owls. The block pattern is a snowball one. I made this for another granddaughter and it wound up being a double bed quilt.

I agree with James—normal recommended protein amounts are around 50 grams a day for women. Super athletes (we are talking Olympic caliber or triathlon) are around 75g daily. There is a formula—James? It’s ideal weight times .08? I could be wrong I’ll look it up tomorrow unless you have it James? But this is the one macro you use idealnot current weight for.

LIMELITESHINES,

You wrote 200 grams of protein a day. How would you manage to eat that much? I did something like that once, not 200 grams but around 120. It was an experiment on myself, and I did it with protein powder. But 200 grams from real food is hard.

That is the protein in a 24 ounce steak. Of course if you at a 12 ounce steak (which is still big) you still have 100 grams from other sources. Eggs have about 6 grams of protein each, so that would be about 16 eggs to reach the other 100 grams of protein.

How do you do it? I have to say, I do think that is too much protein, of course it is up to you.

Brad - hope you get your tech issues figured out!

Holly B - it's been in the 90's here for the past couple of days and I've been LOVING it. We got snow the beginning of the month! lol
With how much weight I've lost, I've been SO COLD. So it's nice to finally not be cold!

Finalee - helloo! I've always been terrified of that head/neck crack thing that chiropracters do!

Kathleen - thank you!! I'm pretty happy with how far I've come. And super excited to push even further!

KD - ohmygoodness - I love a good thunderstorm, but hail always worries me. Glad everything turned out ok.
And I'm glad you stuck to your guns and got the cabinet you wanted!!

Urban - aw, thank you so much! And ANOTHER gorgeous quilt. So much talent.

Having one heck of a day at work. Clock watching till 5:00 comes around while I'm tied to my computer doing all the things. Looking forward to getting to the gym after work.
I need to actually flip my workouts and get them done in the mornings. Fasted workouts are great fat torchers!

It's raining away out here today, which is good, because I forgot to water my pots this morning. Nature took care of it for me!

James - I'm working with a PHD specialist to fix some hormonal issues along with continuing my keto diet.

I'm currently working on 200g of protein a day (30g total carbs and 100g fat) approx 1850 calories and a 18:6 IF regime, along with heavy weight workouts 6 days a week. This is to increase insulin receptors in my body, to essentially reverse' my insulin resistance brought on by PCOS.

I'm going for 18-20% bodyfat not because it's normal, or average. I don't want to be average. I'm going for a very athletic aesthetic (not to compete) but to be able to be as lean as I can be to get skin removal surgery. The less fat you have on your body, the better the results.

It's been quite fun learning about different ways that keto works, especially for weight loss and body re-comp!

Edited - forgot to add, no I do not have a scale that measures bodyfat as they are pretty inaccurate from what I've found. I have a local college that has a BodPod - that measures body weight as accurately as a DEXA scan. :)

Good morning Team!!! yikes, guns, rifles, etc. The three of us older grandchildren on my mother's side were all taught how to shoot. It was training the same as learning to wash clothes, hang up clothes, make soap, clean toilets, etc. It may be cultural. When I went to the Boundy Waters for a week with a group, I refreshed my side arm skills. Now, the Moose would trample me, but when I had to go into the woods to poo, I had the side arm in my hand. Snakes are my fear but a person watching me while I did my business wasn't comfortable either. LOL!
emoticon

Rainy rainy day. My chiro adj was very uncomfortable but that's because the neck is so out of alignment. He's perfect for me. He's friendly, open, shares his life re: children, Energy, & asks if he should stop. LOL!!! NO,,, as long as he isn't cranking my head his massage & hand manipulations can be breathed through. Breathe in . . . breathe out. He guides me to use belly breathing or chest breathing or light panting as he works on my neck. DUH!! He's so attentive & is building my trust. YYYYiiippppeeeee!!!!!

Challenges today is still the Water Heater. HM hasn't gotten back to me re: availability of picking it up & delivering to my house. I'll call him later. I went to Menards after adjustment today. I wanted to purchase today so I wouldn't have to go back on Friday. Breathe in . . . Breathe OUT!!! FFFFFffflllllloooooowwwww!!!

KD, good job!!! It's a skill to stick to your plan & wait for the 'do it my way' people to sort through HOW to accomplish.

Aldi's had chicken legs so I bought a family pkg & washed the meat, rinsed & put in my air fryer. I wash all meat anyway. Small numbers of people in the store but most were just rambling up and down aisles oblivious to ARROWS.

URBAN, great quilts.

KATHLEEN, good news.

NIGHT, was the foam permanently SET???

JAMES, keep the reminders coming.

Hello everyone else!!! YES, Keto WOE & way of life is most HEALTHY!!! I am so happy to be able to only visit bathroom on a normal (whatever that pins) schedule. I am happy that my belly is flatter. I am happy that my cells absorb hydration now. I am happy that inflammation is greatly reduced. YYYYiiiippppeeeee!!!!!

Gotta go!! I haven't eaten and have been subsiding on HWC in coffee. My chicken legs should be ready soon. Hugs to All!!!

Hugs to Surround Us All as a Group! Connie, in WI

Today is finally cooler, 90's+ the last four days. Looking forward to a very long walk.

Yesterday I got up early to do yard work. Thought to myself is 6:30 am too early for mower, blower, edger, trimmer? worried a little about neighbors. Sorry, not sorry. Got it done before 9 am

LIMELITESHINES,
You mentioned upping your protein a "bunch". How much? You also mentioned body fat percentage.

Looking at body fat percentage:
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Body_fat_per
ce
ntage

For women,
25-35% is average,
21-25% is fit,
14-21% is for athletes.

So middle of the fit range, like 23% is probably more"it".

I have a Tanita scale that both weighs me and tells me my body fat percentage. Mine is 22% right now, ... puts me in the middle of average, for men. Do you have such a scale?

For men:
18-25% average
14-18% fit
6-14% athlete

Welcome to all new folks!

I say this now and then ... mostly because it gets buried in the posts, but still stays true...

Don't worry about perfection. Don't worry about eating a little off track. Just don't have these sort of thoughts (gosh its hard to control your own thoughts, but when these creep up, the other part of you has to step up):

- I'll start Keto after the party, or after the weekend, or after the junk food is gone ... (no, just start)

- I ate cake, ice-cream ..., I blew it, I might as well eat cookies, chocolate bars today, tomorrow is another day (no, you fell off the Keto horse, it did not run away, just get back on and ride some more, restart right away, not at some future point)

- it is too hard to eat perfect macros (at the start just focus on cutting carbs, focus on nothing else)

- it is too hard to eat so much fat (actually no, I have whipping cream in my coffee, a lot of fat in simple ways, plus I like different cheeses, the French often have a cheese plate offered for "dessert" after a meal)

Good Morning-UPDATE- They caught the fugitive in Maryland. Thank goodness it is over.

JAMES - I loved hearing about your early shooting days. My DH started out like that shooting on farmland to protect the cows. He then progressed to Trap Shooting Competitions for sport - he was very good. Made top All American team a few years too- at #4 in the country. We traveled, with our two young children, to many places for his shooting events. I shoot Trap also but not competitively - just fun.

URBAN- Love all your quilts they just keep getting better!!

KD Glad the renovations are again being taken care of. At least it will be all done by the time your DH gets back home.

BRAD - You are really doing great! It just proves that being "consistent" is the key word here for following Keto.

LIMELITE - Congrats on that weight loss.

NIGHT - Good job on that wasp nest. Very risky though. That foam is amazing. We used that foam inside our garage to fill in all little cervices etc. It works great.

Today it is raining and gloomy outside. I feel tired and cranky, no reason. I will probably knit today. I don't feel like doing anything else. Just an off day I guess.

Have a nice day.

Kathleen i just read they think the bad guy is in MD now. I'm hoping they catch him soon...

Brad yay for staying keto under stress!! i just looked at the wasp nest. nothing moving..not a buzz. the guy sold me this stuff as he said it encapsulates the hive and soaks in..anything in there is instantly killed, anything that goes in same..you leave it alone for 24 hours then take it down and dispose of it. all i can say is,,i didnt need to have a good aim, and it encapsulated EVERYTHING. so hoping thats the last of it!!

Read..i have always thought thats why i was a good shot...i just dont care..i dont like guns, except i appreciate the craftsmanship in the old wooden flintlocks. I've never found i needed one, except the small comfort it gave me during the manhunt, but i was more afraid i'd shoot my toe. I dont hunt, or enjoy killing things...so, while i have zero problem with others liking and having them, its not a necessity with me. My ex was a collector, so they were here, and he set up a range on my property across the street..i would walk over put on the muffs pick up whatever he had out and shoot..that lasted about 5 mins any time because he would get so angry that i could hit the target with no effort. i think had i been trying hard i wouldnt have been as successful. Bows and arrows are another thing..i always wanted to be good at that and usually my arrows would end up far behind the target sticking out of the ground.
I'm so sorry, Read, for your granddaughter. my heart broke for my kids when their dad left..it was hard for me, but far harder for them. I hope DIL will realize kids need both their parents. unfortunately my ex didnt..and they suffered for it. Today they seldom talk to him or see him, and thats a huge shame. The good part is, they all grew up to be wonderful, productive, kind people despite this.

Lotus..I love the Southern Cross quilt!! gorgeous! I have always wanted to do a hunters star..or compass point, but wow are they difficult. you are so talented!!

Ahh Urban - love that star quilt!! So pretty!

Kathleen have they caught the fugitive yet? Are you still stuck inside?

Holly/Fiin glad you are both getting PT/chiro done and hope you both feel better soon.

My sister came over yesterday and we went out in the pool. So beautiful and relaxing to just float around. I cut her hair 1 inch all over - it's now coming out in handfuls. She asked why I just didn't buzz it and I said next time I would. Step by step. I bought her about 8-9 cute chemo hats that are soft and pretty so she would have choices, and she is already enjoying them.

Then we had scallops alfredo. She had pasta, I had salad. I love scallops!

Last night we had a HORRIBLE thunderstorm. It hailed large chunks of hail - maybe up to 1/2" or so. It sounded like someone was shooting at the roof. Today I'll go outside and assess the damage. Thankfully my car fits in the garage - but my DH's trucks do not. I lost power from 930 to about 1145 and my poor deaf/almost blind dog was beside herself. That's the worst part for me. Then up at 145 to let them out, 320, and 505. Now they are sleeping silly girls. And I'm tired. Maybe a nap is in store for me today. Also - my vacuum robot dislodges itself when the power goes off and starts cleaning the house. It got stuck under a cabinet and was beeping - that was scary with no one else in the house until I figured out what it was!!

Read I'm on the 8th Jane Whitefield book. Still enjoying them very much although #7 was not my favorite. I'll move on to Thomas Perry's other books next. Our library is still not open for business. so all I'm reading is on ebooks.

I heard back from the contracting company - the owner called me. He put a cabinet maker on the line (conference call) and I told him what I wanted and sent a picture of it as well. It will take 5-7 (or more) days to have that done and he said he wouldn't stain it. Okay - well someone will at that point. We are way behind, but I am happy it will be done correctly and will be patient. I'm not having company anyway, so I can use my own bathroom even if it's not the closest one.

Today I'm going to go to Home Depot and get some red bricks to update a small retaining wall. They are heavy so I'll buy 10 at a time and that'll be a good outside project. Then clean the house and mop the floors. That'll be my inside project and that'll be enough for the day, especially if I end up having a nap!!

Night, the quilt I made for my Mom was a kit quilt. I liked the colours in it and was itching to learn how to make all those blocks, so I made it up for her. I loved the designs in it and it taught me so much at the time. I have chosen all the colours for my other quilts though :) Wouldn't it be fun if we were all within visiting distance? I have a quilt i am binding at the moment, I could sit and chat with you all while doing that! Lol! Thank you for the Youtube suggestion. I am keen to take a look. Eeek about the escaped cons experience...and also about the wasp nests!!

Kathleen, I was so hoping you would be able to tell us the fugitive had been caught. I'm sorry it is still so stressful. I'm glad you have your crafts to help keep your mind occupied with good things. I would have you here in a heartbeat to feel safe if we were closer! Yes, wasp spray sounds like a good idea to have on hand.

KD, I always consult with whoever I am making a quilt for, unless it is a surprise gift. Yay on constructing the Gorilla cart! It looks so handy!

Limelite, thank you for your compliment. My lines were very wonky when I started out! Practice helps, he he. You are an inspiration with your weight loss!

Fin, sounds like you have a plan now for your neck, which is good. I hope it is very helpful for you. Sorry you have to buy a new water heater!

James, loved your shooting stories. Dad used to take us out to practice shooting targets when I was a girl. I could shoot a .22 rifle pretty well, but I have not used that skill since I was about 9.

Brad, sorry you still have to work with dodgy Internet and living arrangements. I hope things start to be more 'normal' (what does that word mean these days?) soon. Thanks for liking my quilts. The one I found for you today was a charity quilt a few of us made together. It isn't finished here but the picture shows you the star pattern. The yellow stars are meant to represent the Southern Cross constellation and was a quilt we eventually gave to a returned serviceman.

Hi all! Yesterday ended up being a nice day-very humid but some sunshine. But it rained in the night. :( My iris are blooming and look so pretty. Nothing exotic, just plain old lavender ones, but they are one of my favorites. Went out to look at them and checked the bunnies. Were only three in the nest. One was laying out in the yard close by, still alive. I put it back, but I'm wondering if mama kicks out the ones the dogs touch or that I put back. Laws of nature I guess. Less to eat my flowers.

KD, I forgot to tell you, I got the first two Jane Whitehead books at the library. Vanishing Act is really good! They have all eight, but #3 is only available as an ebook. I wondered why and DH said probably someone didn't return it which made sense. I like your gorilla cart, but I have two wheelbarrows. What I am interested in is the garden seat on wheels to save my back when weeding. Wayfair has them and not too expensive. Flowers are really looking good in spite of the hail last Sunday. They give me so much pleasure.

Kathleen, how upsetting this whole criminal thing must be for you. Someone commits a violent crime and you are a prisoner in your own home. Hope to read that they caught him.

Fiin, your new chiro sounds really good. Just like weight loss, slow and steady! I hope that he can improve your quality of life. I keep thinking I'm going to go get adjusted. Maybe next week.

All this talk of marksmanship is fascinating to me. I have never shot a gun. DH doesn't have any. Both sons have hunted, but not a lot. I'm sure I would be horrible at it, but since I'm not interested in it, I guess that's ok! Good news, DGD gets to come spend the weekend with us. Took DS to his lawyer yesterday and divorce is going ahead. He is ready to move on as she shows no signs of being willing to change. Sad, but life goes on. DGD is the main concern, but she is amazingly resilient. Anyway, off to school for meeting. Basically just fulfilling my contract as none of what we're meeting about will affect me, but my input is wanted. Everyone have a great day!!

Never, never, never, never give up.-Winston Churchill

Still dealing with technical issues here... but managing to stay keto strong. I need to get out and water pots this morning along with some other chores. My schedule is out of wack, but I’m doing my best to remain flexible while going with the flow.
NIGHT, be careful around the wasps... they can be problematic...
FIIN, good luck with the ongoing treatments...
URBAN, love all those quilts... you’re quite artistic, share more of your craft work... it’s fun to see.
KD, I saw the 7 cu ft Gorilla Wagon at Lowe’s... cool tool. Would love to have one, neat that it dumps too! Enjoy!
Sure shot JAMES... wish I was a better shot, sadly that’s not one of my skills.

Have a strong keto day everyone... cheers

Yay James!! That must have been fun to place so high!! I’ve never shot anywhere but at targets. It just used to make my Ex upset he would spend hours at the range And he was pretty good but couldn’t understand my just being able to pick up a rifle or pistol infrequently and hit the bullseye.

Heat is more tolerable today instead of 98 and humid it’s 80 something and humid.

I took out a wasps nest last night. Carefully went to the hardware store the guy helped me pick a spray (he recommended foam I now know why) was all set to do it and a friend called. I told him where I was headed and he scared me with all kinds of stories about how if I miss they will come after me put on full coverage clothing and headgear blah blah..I’m deathly allergic so hot out the episode pen in case, mummified myself in full winter body coverage, went out in the 96 degrees like that—and was really glad I have no neighbors that can see me.
Hardware dude was right. This foam stuff—the second it hits becomes a huge ball of fluff encasing anything within 6” of it. It didn’t take much, and my garage door looks like a Halloween shaving cream fight gone wrong.
One squirt did all that!!!

Talking about guns reminded me ... I'm a very good shot with a rifle. I don't know why.

As a young boy, around 12 I went driving around on the pasture of my uncles farm with my cousin. We would shoot gophers because the holes they made in the field could cause the cows to hurt themselves when their hoof went into a hole.

I was a better shot than my cousin, who lived on the farm and he shot a lot more than I did. He was amazed how a "city boy" could shoot so well.

I didn't think too much of it. Years later, when I was living in Germany a colleague of mine invited me to a local "Schützenfest", a marksman's festival. A mixture of food, beer and target shooting ... yes that could be a dangerous combination, but no more dangerous than driving a truck when you are 12 years old. My natural talents were still there and to my colleague's amazement I placed 9'th, beating a number of folks who did much more regular shooting practice, ... and I won a prize to take home.

KATHLEEN, the Manhunt was on National news last night.

Crazy day!! Chiro showed me xrays & developed 12 week plan. He said the other Chiro had the correct joints but he’ll be gentle. Wwwhhheeewww!!! He suggests 2x a week so tomorrow is his last day of the week. 8:30 am Thursday!! Wow, get me out of bed & get there. It will take longer but steady healing.

Night - thank you SO much. It's been lots of fun, and lots of learning. I'm now in a program that's upping my protein a BUNCH (oof, it's been tough) and I work out 6 days a week (a little cardio and lots of heavy lifting). I'm going to try to get to 20% body fat. (a lofty goal, to be sure!)

But I miss community, and I've often thought of you all so I figured I'd pop back in and say hello! So glad to see everyone here chatting along... it's nice!
