Did You Know?

When exercising, remember your sweat level does not indicate calories burned. Because sweat’s #1 job is to cool the body & some bodies need more cooling than others. But if you’re fit, your efficient muscles may produce less sweat – no matter how hard you exercise.

I do enjoy walking thru falling snow in Yosemite- it is so quiet and beautiful, rather spiritual. Pretty much the ony time I like school.

Did you know ...

Fresh snow absorbs sound. As snowflakes stack up, there’s more space left between them. With all that space, sound is unable to bounce off snow as easily as hard surfaces – and that’s why it gets so quiet when it snows. If the surface melts and refreezes, the snow becomes smooth and hard. Then the surface will help reflect sound waves.

Short Exercise - 'Exercise Snacking'

Forget the gym! The quickest way to get back in shape after the holidays could be short bursts of physical activity throughout the day. Scientists say so-called "exercise snacking" better controls blood sugar than one longer, continuous workout.

James Brown is a lecturer in biology and biomedical science at Aston University. He says these studies collectively highlight the importance of making sure we keep active throughout the day and increasing the amount of energy we use up in non-exercise activities that we normally do during everyday life, from walking up stairs to playing musical instruments.

Fidgeting Is Good Medicine!

When you are sitting for a long stretch, like at work or on a flight, experts advise walking every hour to reduce the risk of dangerous blood clots. But fidgeting may be a good alternative. In a University of Missouri study people who sat for 3 hours but tapped one foot for 60 seconds every 4 minutes had an increase in blood flow in that leg that was enough to prevent a decline in arterial function, a risk factor for blood clots.

An added bonus:

So fidget! Fidget at your desk, fidget at the bus stop, fidget anywhere you are! Just FIDGET!!!

Start Your Morning With Oolong Tea

Oolong tea has been proven to boost your metabolism - which encourages weight loss, lowers cholesterol, aids in digestion, and can help stabilize blood sugar. It's also a great way to drink more water and stay hydrated.
