No, none that affected me or my family directly.
But, I've known a lot of people that had to go on strike.

Yes. Working in aviation industry, they were very common with the line workers. First days of the strike were very difficult for those not in the striking union who still had to work. Following days, not nearly so bad because of police injunctions limiting how long they could block others. It was never a violent or frightening situation by any means. Everyone knew that while the production workers were striking that whatever gains they got from management would flow down to all other workers. Production workers knew other workers were forced to go in, so they were never hassled. Production workers also knew that following the strike there would be tons of overtime to get deliveries back on schedule so they would not have any lingering financial hardship. People frequently brought coffee and donuts to those manning the picket lines. Funny and sad to realize that the strikes were necessary and if fair offers would have been made initially, would never have occurred. My own take is management wanted the strikes as it gave them a legal right to renegotiate delivery dates for aircraft.

When I was in junior high school, the Yonkers teachers went on strike. I remember that we were sent to the auditorium and watched Vincent Price movies like the Tell Tale Heart. They also showed the Green Lantern. I think I was scarred forever by that strike. My mom was an elementary school principal in Yonkers and I can still hear her saying how hurt she was because teachers she thought were friends turned on her. That has made me so cautious about trusting and believing other people.

No, but my boyfriend's company was on strike for 2 weeks at the beginning of this month.
