Why not try Armour?
Might be just the thing, you could hate it but you will never know until you try it... you'll always wonder!

I would also check your iron, B12 and vitamin D status.
If you are low in any one of those, you'll have energy problems.

You think Chris Powell's carb cycling diet is easy to grasp? I found it hard. Customers had to make Exel sheet to figure out what to eat on this diet. There is Chris utube video on his diet that seemed easier to understand than his books.

I found the Fast Metabolism Diet easy to follow. Two days of carbs, two days of protein and three days of protein, carb, good fat. Single serving ( 1 cup) if you need to lose 20 or less pounds. One and half serving (11/2 cup) if you need to lose 30-40 lbs. Double serving ( 2 cups) if you need to lose 50 or more pounds. I need to lose the most and could not eat two cups of chili. Diet only permits three days of exercise a week, which I found hard. A cardio, a weight training and a yoga. Exercise limitation has to due with the way it stressed adrenal glands. People with thyroid and other conditions lost on this diet. I did too.

Apple - did you follow the Fast Metabolism Diet???? Hailey makes a lot of sense after reading her book. Other than ditching cardio other than back to back 2 days.

I just started Chris Powell's carb cycling this week. Much easy to grasp.

I am 5'5" and 220 lbs on Armour. I weighed less before starting Armour. I take my med upon waking with a bottle of water, and wait 30-60 minutes to eat breakfast and drink one cup of decaf coffee after breakfast. I follow high protein/low carb diet, exercise 4-5 days a week and keep gaining.

I took Armour when I was diagnosed 50 years ago and felt energetic, lose weight with diet and exercise, slept well, etc. I am tired, gained, have sleep and other symptoms on reformulated Armour. I do not feel reformulated Armour works as well the original. I asked my doctor to switch me to NP Throid. She refused since it was too time consuming to regulate.

Our body goes into starvation mode and holds on to calories when we skip meal(s) or do not consume enough calories. Skipping breakfast leads to consuming too many calories in late afternoon and at night when our body burns very little.

A car does not work without gas. Our body does not work without food. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It jump starts your metabolism, which translates to burning calories the entire day and losing weight. Doctor's prescribes medication based on our weight and calories we need to consume daily. Skipping breakfast sand other habits could be reason Synthroid is not working.

Proper thyroid function includes diet, exercise, sleep, relaxing, vitamins, etc. Selenium converts inactive form of thyroid medication that is in Synthroid into active form which helps us lose and feel good. B vitamins help nerve conduction, energy, etc. D-3 increases immunity, decreases depression, etc.

It is worth reading The Fast Metabolism Diet by Haylie Pomroy even if you do not follow diet. The book tells in simple language how food affects organs, body function, metabolism, etc.

I tried several synthetic meds ... with no luck. Doc put me on Armour and a light come on in my life. I agree the new and improved doesn't work quit as well ... but I swear by Armour.

Once I started doing what Mizz suggested ... take my pill the minute I open my eyes in the morning, taking my pill with a full glass of water and waiting 30-60 minutes before eating breakfast ... I also saw an improvement.

I would highly recommend you have a good source of protein for breakfast everyday ... start eating breakfast within 30-60 minutes upon awaking. That in itself will help with your energy.

I switched from Synthroid to Armour some time back and never looked back. On Synthroid, I had chronic insomnia and on Armour, I almost immediately started sleeping like a baby, many more hours nightly than I had on Synthroid. Several years ago, Forest Pharmaceuticals changed the formulation of Armour, adding cellulose(think paper!) as a filler, which caused a problem with some patients. The filler absorbed some of the medication, causing a recurrence of symptoms, and/or the need for a higher dose. I was one of those people, and my Dr didn't want to increase my dose, so I did some research and switched to NP Thyroid, which is pretty much the same formulation as the original Armour. It works well for me, better than the improved(?) Armour. I hope my experience helps answer some questions you may have.

I am 5'8 240Lbs. I've been on synthroid since my RAI at 18. I am now 26. It has been a horrible ride with my weight. And I do try to take it with a full glass. I never eat breakfast.. and I don't take any other med's or supplements.

Welcome to our team.

Some people do great on Armour, others do not.
You have to experiment and see which suits you.

300 mcgs of Synthroid is almost double the full dose.
How much do you weigh?

If you are under 200 pounds, then you may have a problem with absorption... are you taking your thyroid with a full 8 oz glass of water, waiting 30 -60 minutes before eating, waiting until lunch to take other meds and vitamins, supplements or minerals? Are you eating a high fiber breakfast?

All possibilities why 300 mcgs isn't working for you!

Has anyone ever switched from Synthroid to Armour Thyroid? I'm at the highest does of Synthoird. 300 mcg. doctor finally said I can try Armour? Is it worth it? Any strange changes from the switch? Was is good or bad?
