Happy Anniversary to all the team. I have been lucky in that I have managed through lots of hard work and plenty of kicks in my butt made it to goal. My friends are my rock. They keep me going even when I don't feel like going on. To all of my friends and team mates I say emoticon and emoticon The most important thing I tell everyone who asks is that you can never give up, no matter what life throws your way, you have to just keep plugging along. Figure out what works for you and keep doing it. When I started I gained weight too but shortly after that I started getting into challenges and it started coming off. Slowly, sometimes too slowly, but it works. You have to believe in it and it will work for you like it did for me. emoticon

I am grateful for you all writing on this thread. It helps me to reconnect with those who stepped up here when I did. It keeps me in perspective so I won't beat myself up quite so much.

I took my first dance class in years and had a ball last night, even though it was quite hot and that is not a good thing.

It was for 'slow blues' dancing and there was more to it than I presumed. I'll do it again, for sure! Ah, memories of excellence, oh, some 40ish years ago...

I know how you feel. I joined Spark when I was getting very close to 170 and did not want to see that number on the scale! Several years ago I lost 28 lbs and that's when I made it down to a 10. That was on Atkins. But of course I gained it all back plus more. At this point I'm not concerned about the number as much as I am about the fit of my clothes and how I look. I'd love to get down to 130 again, but I'm not counting on that.

I'll be 40 in February.....it's hard to comprehend that! On the bright side...one year closer to retirement which used to seem SO far away! ;)

Karen,
And to think that 10 years ago I was stressing at weighing 150 because the size 10 clothes were too tight for comfort. I hated being 150 and look at me since. Well, don't look.

You are ten better off than I and I hope to catch up to you in a timely manner! Keep in Touch,

Dale

p.s.
Well, maybe it was 12 years ago, but then I had gotten down just before then to the mid 130s. I just couldn't keep it down. That's why the 140s at this point will be welcomed and appreciated.

pps - how old are you again? I turn 61 in October myself ................ but it does beat the inevitable alternative!

We have about the same goal. I've been stuck between 155-160 for a year now, despite the fact I was going to the gym about 4 times per week. I try to eat healthy, I do indulge in sweets but not overboard. I cannot starve myself, and need something sweet now and then (ok more like everyday!) My body has changed from the workout routine tho, so I think I've lost inches, but not pounds. Which in itself isn't a bad thing - if I can fit into some of my size 10 clothes again and not be 138, I'd be happy with that! I just want them to fit! I was in a 14, and buying a lot of large or extra large clothes. Lately I've been able to fit into mediums which is a good feeling!

I agree. Not ever giving up on myself is the most important quality I can hone.

Meanwhile I look forward to getting into the 150s and down through them, too.

Anything lower than that is sheer bonus to maintain. My goal of 138 may be unrealistic but I'll see if I can return there and hold it. Time will tell,

Dale

Hello,

I think I saw your post. Sorry to hear you've gained! I think everyone here understands how hard it is to stick with it...sucks to be back where you started, but the good thing is - you're back!

thanks for checking in, but I think I already posted that I actually gained weight once I came to Sparks. It's not a pretty picture and I am struggling just to get back to where I started - crazy! It's not like I haven't put my mind to it over and over again.

Hope everyone is doing well on their goals. Life gets in the way sometimes and we tend to stray from Spark - but hopefully people get a chance to come back here now and then to check it out and maybe get a "refresher" on things. I'm not on here as much as I used to be...I rarely ever log my nutrition (and I probably should, especially that cream puff I had today from the state fair!) but I do log my fitness - mostly because I like tracking the streaks! :)

Wishing you all continued good luck and success - happy 2nd year anniversary on Spark!
