It's GARDEN SEASON for me.

So I have been doing a LOT of research on the use of Essential Oils in the garden. We try to do organic and have been good about it. The trade off is that the bugs, bunnies and ground squirrels seem to get more then their share. And moldy mildew (a plant disease) got most of our zucchini crop last year.

Does anyone else garden? Do you do Organic?

Hi Katie - No I'm not going to the photo walk. Sounds like fun though. Eddie the dog does the same thing as your dog, when I take him for a walk. In fact, I broke my wrist taking him for a walk so, this is why I take him to the park. I take him to the Rover Run in Machesney Park on Ventura off of Ralston Rd.

*waves* I hope more people come in! There's so much to do in Rockford this year, if only that darn sunshine will come out!

I'm currently in training for my first 5K - the Color Run at the Boone Co. Fairgrounds, and then the second one - the Biggest Loser 5k Run/walk in Rockford - both in June. This should be a LOT of fun :D

(but really, really REALLY scary! LOL)

Yes, I want to do some of those walks! Are you doing the photo taking hike Saturday? It's on Severson's website, but it starts at a Pecatonica forest preserve. I think they are going to a few different places to take pics with an optional lunch stop, etc. Sounds fun!

As for the dog park, I don't know what my dog would do if we went to one. Where is it? I've only had my dog since October. She gets so worked up when she sees another dog I think we'd need to work on some things first LOL We took her on a walk last night the she pulls the whole time on the leash (we're working on it...) and every time she'd see a dog in their yard she would start breathing even harder and pulling. Fun :)

I've been out to the dog park everyday, except when it rains all day. The weather looks like it is finally changing. I've been trying to go to the wildflower walkabouts at the parks and forest preserves, but it has rained on Tuesdays. emoticon

The weather was great yesterday, did anyone get out and enjoy it? My son and I went to Severson Dells forest preserve and took a relaxing walk and then hung out outside for a while when we got back home. Then grilled some burgers :) Can't wait until we have nice weather days like that more regularly - it's coming!

Well last night I ate a little too much...but overall did well! My family and some friends went to The Hope and Anchor and I was planning on getting the chicken salad, but it was so late and I was SO hungry by the time we ordered I got the chicken sandwich and fries. Then ate some of my son's grilled cheese and then had a piece of cake. It was better than other stuff I'd considered getting, and I didn't drink - just water - but I still had that feeling of "that was a bit too much". I need to remember that I've been eating less and getting back on track and with that comes a smaller belly. I get full faster. But it was one night, overall it was pretty good (should have not had the part grilled cheese or cake...)and today I'm back to tight eating (as I call it, just healthy and in range and tracking everything). Moving forward! :)

Has anyone tried eating at the Pigs Mind? It is located on Burton rd by the Menards on 173. The menu is all vegan food and it is really good. I had the sloppy dog with sweet potato fries. My DH had onion rings and cole slaw. He thought they should have some regular hamburgers.

Walking is a wonderful way to keep the weight in check. I still haven't got out there to walk. I've been doing physical therapy for my wrist, which is improving but still needs some work. Once I get walking I can get in a habit of doing it. It's just doing it that's slowing me down. Keep up the good work keeping the weight off.

I've lost 15 pounds since November due to illness, and have been able to keep it all off so far. I've started tracking my food again, and am working on walking every day. I'm looking forward to March 2, when I can weigh myself again at the drs office. Right now the goal is simply to keep what I've lost off. If I get on the scale and I've lost more, that's a bonus.

i started to walk 5 times a wk, but my dog sent me flying onto the road. broke my wrist, so in a few weeks i will try it again w/o the dog. i'm reading chi walking so i'll be all ready to go.

after being off here for a few months, I'm back on and so far m-f last week and each day this week I've been working out! going to tackle the eating next but just trying to get into the habit of being active every day right now.

Wondering how often people actually get on here? Wish this team was more active, but we have a good few that are always checking in - bravo to you! :)

Now that it has gotten colder I've been hibernating. If it wasn't for my yoga classes I wouldn't be exercising at all. Of course my tooth hasn't helped. Going to the dentist tomorrow. It is not my favorite thing to do.

I use this as part of my work out mentality. I try to be on this for 15 min a day. Just like I try to work out at least 30 min a day. Some days are harder than others but I look at this as my time in the hectic life I have. Keep at it! It pays off!

Ok I fell at work back at Thanksgiving time. After months of steroid therapy I'm back to my starting weight. I can't do a lot of the exercises and activities that I did. The therapy is helping to get me going, but I have a long way to go.

Anyone else have steroid treatments before?

Yes, I got a late start organizing my recipes. So the dining room table has piles on it and the floor around my chair. I was going to finish it up today, but ran some errands with husband, helped out my sister (she had knee surgery), then had to do 30 min of yoga for my Feb Challenge. Now it's time to make supper. Where does the time go?

Oh dear I guess it is true.. Rockford people are apathetic. Is it the local unemployment rate? Are people out there struggling? Can we help? Could we network? Anyone out there a member of the cycle club? Anyone out there going to exercise classes? Or just walking and getting moving? Is anyone alive or have we been taken over by aliens and I just don't know?

Looks like this board has been vacant for awhile. Well I am starting an 8 week challenge to lose 20 lbs and my friend recommended this site. So far I am still exploring but I am opptimistic about how it can help me reach my goal emoticon

Boy, can I relate to that! I've been like that for 3 full weeks! It seems like when I go off the wagon for one meal...then I'm off and running away from that wagon for days at a time. I've been somewhat better this week, but only because I have an MD appt on Thursday and the dreaded scale awaits me. It's so frustrating because just when I think I've got a good handle on my eating, I realize that I really don't. Although I'm much more educated about food, that emotional rope keeps pulling me back in. emoticon
