I did Zumba Friday morning. I worked so hard the rest of the day I forgot to eat! I lost a few pounds, but I wonder what I REALLY weigh. I wasn't where I could eat low carb, so I ate low calorie. Today, I worked all day again, but I was prepared this time with appropriate food. Tomorrow, more of the same!

Ahhhh...the post ghost attacks again. It had happened to me...disappearing post...uhmmm emoticon

Men don't like short hair because they do not have to take care of it. It is like they like big boobs because they do not have to carry them around. If you like you hair, then do not care about the rest. Enjoy your reunion.

Did my walk this morning. I've eaten well today also.

Tomorrow we are going to the Oregon Country fair - better known around here as the hippie fair, but it's a fantastic place to visit every few years... Lots and lots of handmade things, crafts, pottery, clothing, you name it... it's there. Looking forward to it, it will be a fun day.

Wednesday was a rough day. I got up extra early to take my car into the shop and get a rental. Then I led an especially vigorous aerobic workout in our sauna of a workout space-- or did it just FEEL extra-vigorous due to the extra sweating? Then it was run errands ALL day. I got home at 6 p.m. to cook dinner, clean the kitchen, plow thru e-mails, and log onto SparkPeople. Went to bed at 10 (early for me!).

Notice that I managed to begin and end my day with something good for me: exercise and SparkPeople!

I walked this morning, it was fantastic - about 70 or so. Now it's 75 at 2PM...

Koshie, your scale probably showed a weight gain because if you ate Mexican food, you would have consumed a lot of salt.... Probably nothing more than water weight..

Wispy, There was quite an article in our local newspaper that Dr. Oz. & Dr. Rosen write every week and he was discussing doing low carb (less than 40 a day) for two or three days a week, then choosing healthy foods you love the other days of the week. I thought of you when I read that, sounds about like what you're doing... He said it was a good way to have the best of both worlds as long as your free days you didn't order the "triple cheeseburger and biggie fries" -(that's what he wrote), but gives a person the opportunity to practice life long healthy habits.... Makes sense to me!!!

MY FAITH IN THE UNIVERSE IS RESTORED!

At least part of it! According to this morning's scale, I lost 2 pounds. Not that I entirely believe it--I wait for three days in a row of consistent reading to accept that I have really lost weight-- but I do feel better about my choices at the restaurant. I had been seriously shaken!

Anyway, yesterday was a day I spent busily running around doing, errands, enjoying myself. I got things done. I feel "accomplished", silly as that is. It IS energizing, however! Looks like today is gonna really shape up nicely!

yep.... starting over. ....seems to be a theme! *I* am starting over! Yesterday, DH and I had a nice day. We grabbed a matinee showing at the cinema and then we ate dinner at the nearest restaurant. I THOUGHT I ate low carb! No rice, beans chips, or dessert. But this morning the scale told me I'd gained a pound. emoticon
Maybe I ate too many veggies. It sure was good, tho!

GG, I know the stress you are under; I did the same thing for my 35th reunion! Aren't we a silly species? A short haircut is marvelous in the summertime! It takes courage to cut your hair very short -- good for you! Exercising your courage will free you to feel much better about yourself. I applaud your efforts!

Yesterday, I lost that last pound I had regained from having company. From here, I just look forward and re-start my countdown. I want to lose some weight by November. Mom has asked us siblings to come without spouses or children to celebrate her birthday. Yes, they all know I'm fat; but I'd like them to see some progress. And it would make my Mom happy. Dad would harass her about her weight, and I know some of that got internalized. She'd like me to look better, be healthier, and feel better about myself. I'd like that too!

It seems to help me "stay the course" when I have a "deadline".

Way to go girls.

I did quite a lot of walking yesterday and had a great low carb day with a big oopsie burger with mushrooms and cheese sauce last night.

Today I have been just enjoying the wonderful sunny winter day.
Had lamb chops and cauliflower for lunch and dinner will most likely be a big fry up - man I love low carb. :O)

We've got an unusual heat wave going on.... Almost 1000 (yep, a thousand!) heat records were broken during the month of June across the United States. It has actually been hot HERE in the mountains of Colorado ( me feeling HOT here has been an extremely rare occurrence). We've additionally been toasted and roasted by 2 of the worst fires in Colorado history nearby. Amazingly, the smoke that choked us yesterday came from fires in Wyoming. Fortunately, a light rain came in the late afternoon and cooled things down a bit and more importantly cleaned the air.
Since I couldn't exercise due to the smoke, I disciplined myself to wade through the paper pile on my desk. I can see half the desk top now! That took ALL day! emoticon
Discipline is a good thing, but I think moderation is in order...... emoticon

Got my 3 miles walk in this morning, in the sunshine!! (about 75 degrees, it was beautiful. It got up to 80 today). Our nights have been in the upper 40's though - that will change soon, but still we usually have cool nights - down in the 50's.

I ate well today as well and am headed to bed in a few minutes and I know I'll sleep well also...........

Wow... that is some serious water-retention due to salt, GG! It must have been SO disheartening! I'm glad you discovered the reason!

I went to the community party yesterday and enjoyed a beer, some leafy salad, and a whole lot of pulled pork. I managed to ignore the dessert table completely -- well, at least not eat anything on it. I'm proud of myself for that -- it is the first time! And I lost one of those briefly gained pounds from last week. Only 2 more to go to be back where I was before company came.

Way to go Sharon on the weight loss and the walking. Now what was walking again!!!! :) Yes I had a 6lb gain overnight one day recently, and as Ihadnt been doing anything to account for it, it didnt worry me too much, and sure enough it was off the following morning.

Great going on the low carb Koshie. Yes those desserts can be a killer. I do find thought tht if I get straigh back on very strict low carb for a day or maybe two it does take the craving away very quickly. That is how I am balancing things at the moment and still losing.

Did I post this somewhere else - I posted on so many threads this morning. Just wanted to share this, it is soooooooooooooo good for low carb and if you leave out the butter and chicken drippings it would be fine for low cal as well.

Cook a 1kg chook whole in the microwave on med heat for the 1kg setting, covered.
Fry mushrooms and spring onion green tops with whatever seasoning you like, I like garlic and cajun spices.
Take the breasts off the chicken, they come away easily off the bone and they are still slightly pink at this stage and very juicy (I always have a problem with keeping breast meat juicy on chicken) Put them back in the microwave dish with all the liquid that came out of them when they cooked, cover with the mushroom/chive or spring onion mixture (use as much as you allow for carbs of these veges they are both very low) then stir in a good heaped tablespoon of cream to thicken the sauce and cover with creamed cauliflower. I use 200 gr which is 2.6 carbs. Return to the microwave for another few mins, just to make sure the chicken is cooked through. It comes out so moist and delicious. I never have used the microwave to cook raw food - but after tasting the fish and chicken done like this I sure am going to experiement (the fish only takes a couple of minutes to cook with butter, lemon, salt, pepper and then I add the cream, HB eggs and top with the pureed cauliflower sprinkled with cheese - makes a wonderful fish pie).

WISPY, WOOHOO! I'm delighted too!

Yesterday was a perfect low-carb day. I have been struggling with carbs since I had had company. I can't tell you how many times I was tempted.... how many times I felt cravings.... But somehow, my higher power prevailed. So I guess you could say that I was good to myself through willpower! Today, I am being good to myself by telling you! Hopefully, that is additional incentive to keep myself out of trouble/desserts today at the community Independence Day party.

Happy Independence Day to my American Sparklers!

So! Has anyone lost any WEIGHT lately? I was doing pretty well until last Friday, as I mentioned. I expect I will be back on track tomorrow, because all the company is gone and all the high carb food is gone (sent home with guests), and all the restaurant meal occasions are gone... I have NO excuses! I also plan on doing aerobics tomorrow. Ah, (wo)men make plans and God laughs....

Yesterday, I did rest ALL day and went to bed early. I was exhausted. This night, I will be taking a long soak in the the tub. I have sour milk! Yesssss, I actually soak in a tub that has as much sour milk in it as I've got. And yes, I notice that my skin is hydrated, moister, softer, fresher, and effortlessly exfoliated by the soak -- something to do with the lactic acid. No, it doesn't smell bad ( I asked DH ).

seems like most of us are taking a break from the local heat!

Friday was Zumba and a day spent shopping with my son and his fiancee. The whole local family ate out at a series of restaurants -- and there went most of last month's progress on the diet, since all the carbs messed me up on Saturday as well. We were all tired from all the running around this past week, so everyone was willing to just chill out by the lake. I got up at 5 a.m. this morning to take them to the airport.... and I think I will honor Sunday and continue to just REST!

Walked. To a friends for coffee, then walked home. Then did some more walking this afternoon as I was shopping and parked far away from the store.. And ate well today.

Yay.... it was a good Friday!

Yesterday, we went to the theater to see an amateur production of "Nunsense" with friends and family. It was pretty good and very enjoyable to be sharing the evening.

Hi there ladies, thanks for the kudos, gosh we are so all here for each other, isnt it a great feeling not to be alone with this healthy eating and living thing. With all our struggles and successes its nice to be able to share.

Enjoy your family meal Sharon, that sounds so nice. DS and I are going out for lunch tomorrow to one of my favourite smorgasboard restaurant's. So pleased that I have all these low cal days up my sleeve. The seafood is great at this place and also the desserts.

See, what you did good today, WISPY, is remind us on a basic level WHY we keep exercising! And motivated the heck out of GG! MONDO congrats on the weight!
BUGGZY, I'm glad it was inattentiveness on my part that had me worried that you might be in need.
GG, It IS AWESOME to spend time with your son. Mine is here too -- to introduce us to his fiancee. We are really enjoying their company. Yesterday, DS helped me make dinner and to fetch an extremely heavy potted plant I bought at a moving sale on Sunday. In the afternoon, we all went to see the movie "Prometheus". Although the special effects and acting were first rate, the special effects were mostly "quick cuts" so that you couldn't really see them; and the story was little more than a less dreadful "Alien" re-hash but with a sort-of explanation of where/how the "aliens" originated. I was disappointed.
I've been working my butt off the last few days house-cleaning like crazy. First, DD and his fiancee were coming, and today, an appraiser came to evaluate the house so that we might qualify for a lowered interest rate on our mortgage. It is HARD work to get a house clean all at once! I usually do it a room at a time, on a rotation basis.

Wispy, You're doing fantastic!! Keep it up.. I know how good it feels!!

Not much rain today, a few showers, but they missed me as I got to walk this morning outside. It was really nice too - about 58 degrees or so and cloudy, but hey! I didn't get wet.

I've eaten well also today, made my chicken cacciatore this afternoon and will have some of that in a few minutes, then I'm relaxing the rest of the night.

Daughter played tennis tournament today (near Austin, TX) she said it was 105 when they started and 109 when they finished - that's on the courts of course, but the temps were 102-103 there today. Don't know how they do it... Dedication or stupidity? They do all stay well hydrated and as long as she's been playing, there was only one gal who they took away for heat exhaustion, so they're used to it - they do it about 4 days a week. She's not all that young either, she's 50...

WTG Bugzzy, Im cheering you and Betty on from the sidelines. I so admire those who are dedicated to the work outs as well as the eating healthy.

Always a new day Sharon, just happy to see you posting. I enjoy coming in and seeing all the friendly faces and people who care enough to take an interest in our lives. :o)
I havent been walking for the sake of walking since I discovered i could do a mile with ease. My purpose was to keep fit and moving, but mainly to make sure that now I dont use a walker I could go for a fair distance without getting exhausted and needing to sit down. The weather is amazing here too. We had hail along with the gales and thunderstorms this morning, I cant remember the last time we had hail up this far North, if I can ever remember it at all. We did have it in Australia when we were there one year though and they were enormous. People were keeping them in the fridge just for curiousities sake. :o)

I weighed in yesterday and am at my lowest for the last ten or fifteen years. Woo hoo with that. Maybe I told you guys that yesterday. Im still over the moon about it, especially as I am enjoying what the current programme is very much.
Low cal today so Ive made a fish pie with hoki, tom, peppers, beansprouts and topped with pureed cauli. It smells delishious and I have a chicken ready to go for dinner. Looking forward to a meal out next week, don't think its going to happen this week. The friend I was planning on eating Indian with has a very bad cold and DS is all tied up at work. So both events are postponed.... may save up on the carbs/cals and doubly enjoy next week..... or again maybe not. :o)
