My goal is to get a good nightly routine going and sticking to it. Eventually I would like to be able to sleep in the same bed as my husband and stay there all night without having to get up due to pain.

This week I just want to try to go to bed by 11pm. A bonus would be to only hit the snooze once.

My first week - and I'm trying to sort out many other goals, so these are modest:

Seven hours sleep a night, at least 5 times a week
Don't hit snooze button, at least 4 times a week

That'll do for this week!

Today is the end of Week 1 for me. At the beginning, I made a list of what I thought I wanted my goals to be. I kept those goals all week, and now want to make them my long-term plan:
1. Laptop off by 10:00.
2. In bed with lights out by 10:45.
3. Sleep 11:00-7:00.
4. Get up right after my alarm goes off. No snoozing!

My goal is to establish a consistent bedtime and wake-up schedule. I will also try the sleep journal to pinpoint why I'm not getting the quality of sleep I should be getting because I am waking up throughout the night.

This is my first day and i would like to eventually get 8 hours sleep, but since i have an 8 week old, my initial, realistic goals are as followed:

Get 6 hours uninterrupted sleep per night.
Do not hit snooze on alarm clock (easy if baby is alarm clock, not so easy if he sleeps a little later.
No eating after 9pm.

NOTE: Been really sick this past week so will actually be starting over beginning Sunday night and going from there!

SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
SSSSS

Today is my first day, so here are my goals for the week:

1) Keep the sleep journal every night
2) Kids tucked in by 9:30, so I can start my shower - with lights dimmed and heat up
3) In bed to sleep by 10:00 (except Thursdays - I have class 'til 10)
4) Up at 5:30 without hitting snooze

I am a home school mom and am a graduate student. Due to the wide age-range of children it seems that my day gets longer since elementary kids start school at 7:20, high school at 8:20, middle school at 9:00, and the home schooler at 8:00. This also translates into the middle and high schoolers having later practices/rehearsals with the younger ones having earlier practices - meaning we're gone all day and everyone that needs an early bedtime has a late bedtime .... this has to end! For *myself* I do pretty good, but these kids need better sleep schedules and it's up to me to make it happen. So honestly there are more goals than just my own personal goals!! I'll be working on the children's goals here in awhile after class tonight.

KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
KKKKKKKKKKKKKK

For the first week my goal is to simply get the children into bed by 9:30 each and every night complete with prayers (not worrying over exact bedtime routines right this second ... this will come over the course of the month). ..................... I want to pay attention at how well they get up in the mornings at their appointed wake times. Using this information I will make adjustments in their bed times the following week.

Second week - Supper fixed and ready to eat as soon as DH walks in the door (b/w 6:45 and 7:00) .... Tuesdays I get home at 7:15 so I want the family to start when DH gets home and I will just join in when I walk through the door ... Wednesdays we will eat around 6:00 since DH gets off work late and we have to be out the door by 6:45 ... Thursdays I am at school so crock pot something for everyone to eat when DH gets home ... Sundays we'll need to eat at 5:00 in order to be at church by 6:00 ..................... Why can't life be simple?? ..................... What does having supper on the table ready to eat by these times have to do with sleeping???? A LOT! If I have supper ready by a certain time, then we can eat at a decent hour, and then we can have relaxed bedtime routines instead of eating and hopping in a shower and jumping in bed all rushed and many times LATE!

Third Week - Re-establishment of the bed time routine ... around our house everyone takes showers at different times of the day in order to have hot water! So showers are only a part of mine and DD13's bed time routines. Basically it involves making sure clothes are picked out for the next day, brushing/flossing, washing faces, pj's on instead of slipping in bed with clothes from the day on (yes, this is a problem amongst my children), reading to youngest, saying prayers with everyone, tucking in individually.

Fourth Week - Probably just a continuation of the previous weeks altogether to make it habit! ... If I think of something else I'll post it here. Of course, every week tweaks in bed times will be made accordingly along with tweaks of anything else that needs tweaking!

My goal for the first week was to sleep through the night without interruption. To that end, when required, I slept in a separate room from my snoring partner. I'm much more able to get up at the first alarm now without hitting snooze and I'm no longer falling asleep at my desk!

This is very challenging. I am a mother and full-time student. My daughter was used to me working in a call center and although I wasn't home much, when I was there it was all about her. Now I am home often but have tons of work to do and can not just drop everything like she is used to. This was a hard adjustment and still continues to be. I find that the best study time is after she goes to bed at 9:00pm and yet I have to get up at 6am to get the both of us ready for school and to make my 8:30 classes. I was wondering how I could even think of having 8 hours to sleep when I can't even fit it into my schedule? I'm really not sure what to do here.

My goal is to have 8 hours of sleep so that would mean be in bed by 10pm to journal and for bedtime routine. Have lunches made the night before so I can wake at 6:30am. Maybe stay at the university longer to get projects done and be home at supper? Not sure how that one would work. We'll see how that goes.

Challenges are what makes life interesting, overcoming them is what makes life meaningful. - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Go to bed between 11pm and 1 am; get up between 6 and 8am; do not eat after 9 pm; exercise every other day-
That's enough right now because it's a huge challenge for me in just those 4 things!

Okay simply put to sleep 7-9hrs a night = 49-63 hrs a week. I will impiment this by working out more, continueing to eat right and find ways to meditate and use the hypnosis I am trained it to get the best bang for my buck as far as sleep is concerned.

Seems I always have great plans and then it all falls apart the 2nd evening
This week starting Sunday the plan is

Sunday Bed by 8 pm up for work 430 am 8hrs by the time I read a wee while Going now and it's just 20:06 not bad, but bad enough Goodnight what was that noise at 445am

Monday Bed by 8 pm up for work 430 am 8hrs by the time I read a wee while Going now 2013. Not as good as last night but hey by comparison Must try harder Goodnight

Tuesday Bed by 8 pm up for work 430 am 8hrs by the time I read a wee while off now 2032 OOPPSS. No. I then played with this silly thing till 930pm and read a bit after that. Failed

Wednesday Bed by 10 pm up around 700 am day off 8hours min if I read a wee while Making it tonight. Off soon 3.5 hours hard graft totally cleaning bathroom and toilet, ceiling to floor. I will sleep tonight 'cos I am tired
Thursday Bed by 8 pm up for work 430 am 8hrs by the time I read a wee while someone take away this ?????? computer so I can get to bed on time 2136 tonight.
Friday Bed by 10 pm up around 700 am day off 8hours min if I read a wee while
Saturday Bed by 10 pm up around 700 am day off 8hours min if I read a wee while

This should be interesting to see if I manage it.

For relaxation and me-time I plan 30 mins minimum cross-stitch in the evening. Relaxation, because it means I MUST block out everything else to get it right

Just starting off with this challenge because I need to get into a better sleep routine. My goal is to not eat 2 hours before bed, be in bed by 10pm and awake by 7am. This way when I start back to school in a month my sleep routine will be where it needs to be.

Been doing pretty good with goals--In bed by 10:30-11. Up at 8. Eat breakfast before 8.

Was little late 11:30 to bed. Had to clean kitchen because my "chief" daughter left a huge mess and I could not leave it over night. But I slept till 7:45 and that cover 8 hours so all was good.

this week goal for me is to get my daughter in bed by 10pm so i can also get in bed before midnight. my 4 yr old has been going to sleep at midnight the past few days which is way better then her 3am bedtime, how it ended up that way i will never know. I don't know how she was managing going to bed that late and still going to school, course the P-K would let her to go sleep at school and sleep until she woke up. So my goal isn't just for me its for my 4 yr old daughter also.

Quit falling asleep on the couch. I don't mean to, but I do it every night. I don't think I am tired but I fall asleep anyway.
Goal 1: Go to bed at 10.00. I changed this from 11 to 10. Then I can read a book until I fall asleep IN BED!.
Goal 2: Don't snack after dinner.
Goal 3: Don't watch TV while in bed. That should be in the liveing room.
Goal 4: Exercise. Usually walk twice a day for about 40 minutes at a time.

My goal for this week is to get over this idea that staying up till the early hours is "me time" in a way that getting enough sleep isn't - most nights I'm not even doing anything exciting, just watching rubbish TV!

My Week One Goals:

- Go to bed by 11
- Read one chapter of non-school related book
- Turn off all electronics and just relax a half hour before bedtime
- Get up right away in the morning, without hitting the snooze button

Hopefully this will help me sleep better at night. And it should be small and easy enough tasks so I can work up to having a very regular sleep pattern. My ultimate goal is:
On weeknights to be in bed by 10:30, and up by 6:30; and on weekend nights to be in bed by midnight and up by 8:00

After looking over my journal this last week, I see that my biggest area for improvement is on the weekends. I sleep in until 8am and I end up less productive on the weekends.

My goals are:

1. To be in bed no later than 10:30.
2. To get up by 4:50am to work out.
3. To continue my journal to record my progress.
4. To exercise consistently to maintain sleep patterns.

Starting over again! My main problem is getting to bed on time. My body wants to be in bed by 8:30-9:00, but my mind feels it has so much to do/get done that i HAVE to stay up later (often til 12:00) then it is soooo hard to get out of bed at 6:00 which is when I should be up for work, so I end up relying on coffee and sugar to get me up & keep me going all day.

My goal is to break this vicious cycle and listen to & respect the rhythmns of my body.

My major goal is to have a sound sleep all night, then to have 8 hours sleep all night, then it should be between 9.30pm and 10pm every night.
