I get mine every year. I have multiple chronic

Nope, never.
Recent studies show that flu vaccination reduces the risk of flu illness by only between 40% and 60% among the overall population during seasons when most circulating flu viruses are well-matched to the flu vaccine.
And now they're discovering this year's vaccine is only 10% effective against this year's strain of flu.

Got mine the first week of November - and Honey just got his last week - apparently there's a new flu vaccine for a new flu strain because that's the one he received. Due to the fact that Honey is a Tyfoid-Mary - meaning he brings diseases home and gives them to me, then goes along his Tyfoid-Mary way . . . that's the reason I get mine every year. The ingredients are NOT harmful. Your informational source was seriously incorrect. That's like saying that vaccines cause autism (which of course it does NOT). As a nurse, I can say that anyone that does not get vaccinated are making huge mistakes. People who do not vaccinate put themselves and others at high risk of harmful diseases and illness. As a pro-vax, I am not afraid to tell people to stay away from me if they are anti-vax. Anti-vaxxers are uneducated anyway.

I have not had one for years, but since I left my nursing job (which required it) I haven't been around a lot of people, either. The only reaction I used to get was from the nasal type of the vaccine--a lot of sinus issues (because pushing an aerosol mist of flu--killed virus or not--up the nose is always a good thing emoticon , lol).

I worked in healthcare and it was mandatory too. I don't agree with the fact that it was mandatory but it had to be. Now that I'm a stay at home mom, I still get one. If I can decrease the risk of my daughter getting sick (even the possibility of decreasing it) I'll do it.

The Flu? Oh my I have been battling it since last Saturday....it knocked me down hard.

I can't get the flu shot as I am allergic to eggs and I also have complications after the shot. My doctor had me try it ..and never again - we both agreed!!!!!!

Yes, I've had the flu several times in my life & the last time I had it (~25 years ago) I decided I REALLY did not want to go through another flu episode so I make it part of my annual "gift" to myself to get the current vaccination each fall.

Yes I work in the Public Library and we have many children, homeless and elderly patrons and the thought is to help protect them so it's highly urged we get the shot. We are "a sanctuary center", we even take up when the schools stop in June for the "free lunch" program for the kids, partnering .with the Food Bank for the summer.

Yes. I got my flu shot when I saw my transplant team last week. For people who've had transplants it is strongly urged to get a flu shot. I also got the pneumonia shot about 2 years ago for the same reason. I've only jad the flu once in my life and I prefer not to get it again.

You bet I have!

For all the people who are saying, " Well, I've never gotten the flu so I don't get the vaccine", please remember that a big point of the vaccine is to protect those who cannot get it, such as people going through medical treatment, babies who are too young, and the elderly who cannot get it. Its called "herd immunity" and its vital to making sure we don't have another horrible flu epidemic like in 1919.

We do not get the flu shot at our house. When my son was just under 2, we had gotten him the flu shot because he had asthma (so his dr said to get it). Worse case of flu he has ever had. We haven't gotten him the flu shot since and he hasn't had the flu since.

Funny thing is. I had my lung removed when I was 3. When we left California later within a year after that, my dr told my mom to get me the flu shot as soon as we got to Indiana. She took me to a pediatrician and told him I needed the flu shot. He asked why and she told him. He told her that he doesn't give it to his own kids. She told him that if it wasn't good enough for his kids, it wasn't good enough for hers. So I've never had a flu shot. I might have had the flu once in my life. (I'm in my 40s.)

Absolutely not. Sorry but I'm sceptical. Flu vaccines are the result of someone's guess as to what strain might be active in the coming year. Not very scientific in my book. Also too many studies that suggest that ingredients in the vaccines could be harmful long term. I'll take my chances but do my part by exercising, eating healthily, avoiding germs where possible and taking vitamins and probiotics to do my best to build a healthy immune system.

Yes, get one every year in Sept or Oct. Last year's shot missed the target and was only about 13% useful for my age group (72) and of course, I got an awful virus that had me flat on my back in bed for 3 weeks. It took me several months to get back to full strength. I shudder to think how bad it would have been if I hadn't had the shot.

Smile, it's contagious

Had mine way back in September. I believe in it! My hubby thinks you get the flu if you take it. He never takes a flu shot; he gets sick a lot during the winter and when I have my shot I very seldom even get a cold.

I do volunteer work with seniors and the flu shot is mandatory. The flu is dangerous for the elderly and the very young. Before I retired from the hospital the shot became mandatory for all the staff and volunteers and students.

Keep moving!

I normally do not get the vaccine and I don't get the flu either. However this year I'm interning in the NICU so it was mandatory. I think that in this case I would have gotten it anyway because it is better to be safe than sorry around medically fragile babies.

Yes. I also got the shingles vaccine after I saw how my boss suffered when she had the shingles. I know some are not sure about getting the flu shot, but some people get complications from the flu that can be really bad. (Yes, I'm a retired nurse. LOL)

Yes, two months ago. Never skip that. If you get the actual flu (which is NOT stomach flu), you would not skip a flu shot. I've also gotten a shingles shot because I've had them twice in my life, once when I was 29 and when I was 61. Luckily I was able to get the shot and although it's not a guarantee, don't ever want them again!

I got one in September or October, and the next couple of days I was off. I had absolutely no energy and felt like I was running a low grade fever for three days. I'm not sure being sick was related to the shot but it sure felt like it.

No I got real sick from the flu shot years ago and didn't get another for along time. Then I worked somewhere where you had to get them and didn't have any problems. This year I've had some other health problems and they won't give it to me

Everybody tells me that they would love to knit, but they don't have time. I look at people's lives and I can see opportunity and time for knitting all over the place. The time spent riding the bus each day? That's a pair of socks over a month. Waiting in line? Mittens. Watching TV? No. I did have the flu back in April, and the doctor said it wasn't the strain the flu was supposed to prevent.
