This has just been my own experience. When I eat on break at work we are constantly talking which I have read brings air in your mouth while eating. And we have to eat fast then start moving again. This josiles my stomach around. We are on the constant move. By the end of the day I notice I have gas. When I'm at home and eat my meals I don't talk and I eat slower I don't get gas. Also I have never ate 5 servings of freggies in one day. My SP coach suggested I incorporate freggies into my diet slower. I have and my IBS does not kick in. Unless I drink to much caffeine on an empty stomach then look out!

We can do this!

Just make sure that it isn't something other than digestion that is causing the gas. It is a symptom of other things that are often put off as digestive problems but can be worse. I mean don't worry about it being worse, but make sure it isn't.

I suffer from gas horribly and I'm still trying to figure out why. I am hoping that adding a probiotic will help. This has become an issue for me over the past year. I can't point to any real changes within my diet that would have caused this change. I am working to improve close monitoring of my food intake due to elevated A1C levels...but there is so much conflicting information out here that I'm trying to sort through. The only thing that seems consistent is in the area of fruits and vegetables...but the rest regarding wheat, whole grain, beans, dairy, and meat...I'm still trying to find what works for me.

Learned several things since joining the challenge. For the first time I consistently remember to eat slower knowing I am aiding my body to digest foods easier.

Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Phil 2:3-4.

I started the switch to eating more primal/paleo about 4-5 months ago primarily because whatever I did I could not lose my post-pregnancy weight. Currently I no longer eat any flour foods, white or wheat, avoid corn, beans and peanuts. I also try to get hormone free or as minimally processed as possible foods. I have always struggled with bloating and embarrassing gas, etc. regardless of how much water and whole wheat fiber I ate. Even stool softeners sometimes wouldn't be enough. Cutting out the grains above plus drinking quality filtered and mineralized water has solved my tummy bouts. It's nice not to have larger pants on hand for when I gain 2-4 pounds by the end of the day from gas bloating. I started eating Kiefer with probiotics 2 weeks ago for added health. I joined this group hoping to see any additional way for added health.

I have learned a lot by the 21 day challenge. I do not really have any digestive issues. I have had constipation since I have lost weight.

FANCYQTR - I think maybe we should get together!!! Maybe we could split the difference and find a happy medium? I have just the opposite problem - - I eat high fiber plus 2 stool softeners each day and still have problems with constipation!!

I'm trying this challenge because I've noticed that I have indigestion and bloating a lot and it's a very uncomfortable feeling so I need to try to change something in order to feel better.

I decided to try this challenge because I have IBS that is pretty uncontrollable. I have problems with fiber, which causes diarrhea, so have kept it to a minimum. I am trying to find a way to get the right amount without having the problems. I also get gas problems which cause heart attack symptoms. I thought maybe working with this challenge I might be able to get my gut working right or at least better than it is now.

I've been taking my Acidophilus but the last two days I started with cramps and last night they woke me up. I'm thinking it's probably from the Fioricet I have been taking at night for the headaches. I've had trouble with colon before - - had two colon surgeries and have lost 26 inches of my colon so far due to diverticulitis. I can't afford to lose anymore of my colon or there's a good chance I'll be using a bag.

I have to give a shout out to kefir, greek yogurt and yes tons of fiber and water. And last but certainly not least is a probiotic.

I too suffer from IBS, but mine has moved from one end of the spectrum to the other. Its easy to forget that our bodies are finely tuned machines, what we eat, our moods and our environment have a role in our condition. Part of my reboot is to incorporate more exercise and meditation.

Good luck to us all!

I decided not to use a detox diet. A co-worker used the lemon juice and Cajun powder regimen and rapidly lost weight but it was obvious he lost muscle mass also. A google search will give you plenty of reading. Many will exclude all solid food for a specified time, generally 3 days and then re-introduce foods slowly..........this seemed somewhat radical and complicated. My strategy was much more simple. I started with the premise that our digestive system barring any disease is designed to do 2 major functions, digest food and absorb its nutrients to sustain life. I believe this to be true of all animals and humans are no exception. I began to consume food that was as unprocessed as possible, think apple not apple sauce, brown rice, vegetables (plenty of them) some boneless skinless chicken breast, almonds, walnuts, salads with a little balsamic vinegar and olive oil along with plenty of water. I did not ingest cookies, pasta, bread, saturated fats like bacon or butter. Fortunately I do not have any intolerance to dairy so I can add non-fat milk and yogurt to my nutrition plan and I seem to cultivate enough of my own probiotics. Within a couple of weeks I felt much cleaner inside and much less lethargic and irritable outside. This required a radical behavior change but I felt somewhat desperate and was determined to improve my quality of life. The more I restricted my nutrition to more wholesome choices the better I felt and that was all the motivation I needed. Incidentally I used the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans as a basis for what and how much was recommended. Easy to find just type it into your search engine. So.......I did not intentionally use a detox diet but that is essentially what happened. Good luck!

I cannot eat any dairy , I consume more than enough fiber but if I also consume dairy I am constipated . as a further benefit of not consuming dairy my arthritis pain has greatly reduced. Even in this cold weather ! I do plan on trying Good Belly as I noticed it contains no dairy . I never detoxed because I am non-diabetic hypoglycemic like my father .

What is a good detox *diet* to go on? I do stay away from processed foods. I also try to eat healthy. I know that I have failed miserably the last couple of weeks , feel lousy and I am not sure how to get back on track.. :-)

I agree kefir is great. I love greek yougart and try to have some every day. A tablespoon on salad and a few spices has become my favorite salad dressing. I've been experimenting with fermented foods like real saurkraut and kimchee. Love saurkraut!

I backed off most processed foods over the past few years, but a course of antibiotics due to dental surgery really knocked my system out of whack.

I can do it, you can do it, we can do it!

Yes, I have eliminated bread entirely. I get complex carbs from grains like brown rice and beans. As a detox diet by eating fruits, vegetables, whole grains and beans with plenty of water it was amazing how much "sludge" was removed! Sorry if I offend but we are talking digestion which includes the evacuation of the final waste product. I also stopped consuming saturated fats like bacon and butter. I have indulged some over the past few weeks and I can sure tell the difference, I will be getting back on the straight and narrow now that the holidays are over.

I have a question: Have you eliminated all whole grain items like whole grain pasta and whole wheat English muffins?

IBS is a very uncomfortable condition, and a very common complaint among our species. Born in 1956 (I will let you do the math) I have battled with it for 25 years. Finally 2 years ago while researching detox diets I decided to radically change how I eat. Not wanting to use the extreme versions of detox but wanting to "clean out" my digestive system I eliminated all process foods and started eating for purpose and not pleasure. My IBS has not flared up since then and my belly is flatter than when I was much younger!

my problems with my digestive system are confusing and frustrating...
I have IBS which is all encompassing. any thing goes wrong and this is what they blame.
I have had my gallbladder removed due to the crystallization of all of my bile.
I have fatty liver, acid reflux, a hiated hernia just above my stomach...
I now have a cyst and endometrial mass putting pressure under my stomach...not too mention excess belly fat. I am also prone to gas pressure and bloating.
I really hope this will help to straighten me out. Holidays make this worse.

Today was a good day to get my first message about the Good Belly program. I need help learning to eat in a "normal way". I have been yoyo dieting so long it has become a way of life and I need to begin to take this all more seriously and do myself some good. Tomorrow I plan to begin eating according to a menu for all meals, making sure I get enough of everything I need. It may take a while to get used to eating properly but I can do this.
