Apr 11: Something that I like about a) my body, and b) my personality?
A) There isn't much I like about my body; I've always had a pretty bad physical self-image. I do like my hands. They're not smooth, my fingers aren't long and elegant, and I get way too many hangnails, but I can be creative with my hands. I love to scrapbook and knit and crochet and draw, and all of those things I do with my hands.
B) I do, however, like quite a few things when it comes to my personality. I like that I'm conscientious. (I chose that one because it also encompasses other traits like honesty, diligence, thoroughness, and meticulousness.)

That would be an amazing idea!!

April 10 - How do I take care of others? It just seems to be what I do! I take care of my kids, drive the half hour to take care of my mom when I can, I'm the first one to offer to help when anyone needs it. No wonder I'm exhausted most of the time! lol

April 8: Oh I'm a bit behind! lol no pun intended!! HAHAHAHAHA!! I will do these as some as I get caught up here! My lower body strength is pretty good so this should not take long.

April 9: How am I taking care of myself? uh...well, I try to make good food choices, and track it. I like get my steps in everyday. My fitbit has been a great asset to my healthy living.

April 10: Hmmm.... I think this one is easier to answer! I help my youngest son with his daily routine, Hmmm...maybe enabling is a better word? but I keep everyone "going" around here! I helped my middle boy by bringing my vacuum over to his place this weekend as he doesn't have one. I look after my mom's housekeeping, laundry and I cooked 4 batches of soup to freeze for her this weekend. Basically there is no end to what I do for others. I need a life. Maybe all of us should meet in Watrous for a spa weekend at Manitou this summer!!!

Apr 10: How do I take care of others? I'm definitely for of a care "giver". To my family, my friends, and my colleagues, I give of my time and "talents" or "skills" whenever possible, which can usually be much more than I give myself.

Apr 9: How am I taking care of myself? I guess I'm now taking care of myself by eating healthier and exercising almost daily. I also keep trying to "leave work at work" whenever possible. My work life can be hectic and stressful and very draining, and so I'm trying to leave all of that in my office when I go home at the end of each day. As my psychiatrist recommended, when I am not at work, I should be immersing myself in things that bring me great joy, whether that be scrapbooking, or visiting with friends, of watching TV, etc. Since I've started taking that advice more to heart, I'm feeling a lot better emotionally.

April 4- 4 sets of lateral raises, done with weights. Yes, done.

April 5- I guess my happiest month would have been my February trip to Phoenix. I loved the warm weather and being with my family (siblings) was very soothing!

April 6- I don't accept compliments well, but my husband did call my beautiful today but I poo-poo'd it and told him to quit joking. emoticon (Which probably answers tomorrow's daily challenge! LOL)

Oh! Suzanne, I want to see that movie!! I see I need to bring Kleenex?

Trish, I see that you changed your pic, I like your hair, too! Very nice! Glad to hear that you didn't have an eventful night...

April 5 - In the past 12 months when was I the happiest? hmmm, im not really sure. I took a week of holidays in July and just stayed at home and relaxed, I was pretty happy then, we also went camping in August which was happy again. However when I look back there was lots of times of unhappiness during those times as I was already unhappy in my relationship.
April 6 - A recent compliment - well I changed my hair and I've been getting quite a few compliments on it.

Thankfully my night the other night was not eventfull at all!

Apr 5: The happiest month I had in the last 12 months -- it's a toss-up between July and December. I took 3 weeks off in July and I had 2 weeks off in December. Both of those times were spent doing things I wish I could do much more often, like scrapbooking, watching movies, and reading.

The lateral raises didn't happen yesterday. I went to a movie with my bestie instead. We saw "I Can Only Imagine." It was really good, but I had quite a headache afterwards from all the crying.
Trish, I hope your evening was not as interesting as you thought it might be.
Lori, I hope the pain you're experiencing in your feet has eased somewhat. I know how frustrating it can be to have to wait to get in to see the doctor.
Sending you both (and Cherie too) a virtual hug.

April 3 - I was going to look at my inspiration board my daughter made and pick a couple of my favorites, but I got sidetracked and didn't do it, i'll try to remember tonight, tho it's looking like tonight could be interesting ( not in a good way) so i'll have to play it by ear.
April 4 - Lateral raises, I'm going to do them as soon as I get home so that I don't get sidetracked and forget.
have a great day!

April 2018 Daily Challenges

April 4, 2018:

4 sets of 12 Lateral Raises.

Done first thing in the morning as my brother neglected to tell me when heíll be here. I wanted to make sure I got them done just in case I find myself busy for the rest of the day. (If I can, Iíll do more later just to maximize the benefits.)

(As a side note...I think I may need to increase my weights soon; either that or increase the repetitions of some of my exercises.)

Hope everyone has a Wonderfully Wacky Wednesday! Do something fun today! (Iím thinking of getting one of those bubble things that I remember from when I was a kid and blowing bubbles all over the house...I remember it being a lot of fun.)

Apr 3: Motivational quote. I also have 2 to share. I apologize that the second one is so long, but it really resonated with me.

Itís not that some people have willpower and some donít. Itís that some people are ready to change and others are not. ~James Gordon M.D.

Instead of saying, ďI donít have time,Ē try saying, ďItís not a priority,Ē and see how that feels. Often, thatís a perfectly adequate explanation. I have time to iron my sheets, I just donít want to. But other things are harder. Try it: ďIím not going to edit your rťsumť, sweetie, because itís not a priority.Ē ďI donít go to the doctor because my health is not a priority.Ē If these phrases donít sit well, thatís the point. Changing our language reminds us that time is a choice. If we donít like how weíre spending an hour, we can choose differently. ~Laura Vanderkam

April 2018 Daily Challenges

April 2, 2018:

Describe the last time you had the type of fun that made you smile for a few days.

When I first saw the topic for today I actually frowned as I drew a blank. I really had to think about this, delving deeply into my subconscious and sifting through foggy memories...

Nah! Iím just pulliní your legs. lol

It was March 4, 2016 and hubby took me to see The Irish Rovers. I had so much fun that I still smile in memory. (Iím a HUGE fan! One of my strongest memories from my early childhood was of my mom sitting beside my bed, playing guitar and singing one of their songs as a lullaby. The song, if youíre curious, was ďBlack Velvet BandĒ...and, of course, they played it at the concert. It was kinda weird for me...I was smiling for all I was worth while crying at the same time Ďcause it brought happy memories and reminded me how much I missed my mom at the same time.) At the end of the concert the band did a ďMeet and GreetĒ and gave autographs, allowed pictures, and generally mingled with the people from the audience. It was a really awesome experience. Iíd love to see them again. (Hubby even said that though the tickets were a little pricey, it was sooo worth it!)

I hope the Easter Bunny was good to everyone (my brother said the Easter Bunny didnít make it out to his house...it was just too cold and too much snow; he also mentioned that he hopes the Easter Bunny does rain-checks.)

=^_^=

April 2: hmmm...this is a tough one! (which is kinda sad...) The last time I remember feeling that internal smile was connecting with an old lost love...briefly, about 9 years ago. I mean I had a wonderful time on my trip to Phoenix in Feb with my brothers and sister, we had a lot of fun.

April 1: What good habit do I want to begin this month with is definitely to get back to a low sugar and low gluten diet. I'm a carb addict so I need to minimize or eliminate it from what I eat. April 2018 Daily Challenges

April 1, 2018:

What good habit do you want to begin this month?

This is a toughie. There are a few things I want to do.

1. Drink my Daily 8 of water consistently. I really slacked off last month and boy could I tell! Headaches, water retention, etc. Yup...this is definitely at the top of my list.

2. Get back on track with eating breakfast. I was doing so well, too! Then I donít know what happened, but next thing I knew I was falling back into my old (bad) habits of skipping breakfast.

3. Follow through will my plans to complete our teamís Daily Challenges. I always have good intentions at the start of the month...then **poof** it just goes up in smoke! I also keep telling myself ďIíll do better this month!Ē and I donít.

So, those are my top 3 Good Habits that I want to begin this month. The first 2 are my main priorities Ďcause they directly affect my Healthier Me plans.

I hope everyone has a great Easter!

I think in the 3rd week of the month must be my TOM (since I had a hysterectectomy I really never know...) and that is when I do all the craving and moodiness and maybe in April I can see it coming and try to minimize the effects!! emoticon

Mar 29: My role model? My parents. They are both really healthy, active people. They instilled in me the values of honesty, self-respect and respect for others, a strong work ethic, the need for perspective, the respect for education and learning, and the importance of traditions and family (past and present).
I hope my senior years are as healthy and active as theirs, but then I'd like to be that healthy and active right now!

P.S. April's Daily Challenge List is being posted today!

good morning,
March 28 - 20 leg raises, I missed them, I took the night off of exercise. I did work out in the morning, but last night I colored Easter eggs with my kids as they are going to the grandma's for the holiday, which meant a later than usual bedtime for them so I decided to take the night off.
March 29 - My role model, my parents. Although we haven't always seen eye to eye and still don't, they showed me a good, honest way to live.

March 29: My role model? Hmmm... I think I'd have to say my sister. I would like to be more like her in time. She's a very well put together person and I love her.

March 28: 20 leg raises each leg done. I did the total body burn (Hip Hop Abs) and tacked in on the the end. By the time I got to #15 I was burning! Pushed through.

Mar 28: 20 Leg Raises. Nope, not gonna happen today. This new strength training program I'm doing focuses on 2 areas of the body each day for 6 days, you take the 7th day off, and then you start again in the same order (but with different exercises). Day 1 (yesterday) was chest and back; Day 2 (today) was shoulders and abs; Day 3 is triceps and biceps; Day 4 is hamstrings and quadriceps; Day 5 is calves and butt; and Day 6 is inner thigh and outer thigh. You do the exercises first thing in the morning, so I did 4 sets of 12 of lateral raises and crunches this morning.

It was a board meeting night last night, so it was a 12-hour work day. I didn't get home until 8:50pm, so didn't do my Leslie Sansone DVD. I did walk for a half hour at noon and for about 10 minutes before my meeting.

March 27 - what inspired me to be healthier. In all honestly, it's vanity. I just want to look better. Well, and feel better, but mostly vanity.

Oh my goodness, where have I been? Well, actually, I was warding off a sore throat all weekend. But it seems better now.

Mar 24: 20 squats. Nope, didn't do them.

Mar 25: Do I get enough sleep? Not usually, except for weekends. I'm one that needs minimum 9-10 hours to really feel good, and I usually only get 6-7. I've been trying to go to bed earlier but, being a night owl, it's a struggle. I will keep trying.

Mar 26: A movie I can quote by heart? Like Cherie, I'm a movie nerd. Many of the movies she listed are among my favs too. Some fav quotes:
From Bubba Ho-Tep: "I'm thinkin' with sand here."
From French Kiss: "You'll become one of those hunchbacked, lonely old men, sitting in the corner of a crowded cafe, mumbling to yourself, 'My a$$ is twitching. You people make my a$$ twitch.'"
From French Kiss: Kate: "You know, all men are ba$tard$." Luc: "Well, not all. I mean, some of us are just trying to help."
From French Kiss: "Of course you know him. All you ba$tard$ know each other."
From Green Card: "We don't have to like each other. We just have to get married."
From Leap Year: "Don't worry, we'll throw him in the wash. He'll be grand."
From 17 Again: "Googlable."
From Pride & Prejudice: "Thoroughly tolerable, I daresay, but not handsome enough to tempt me."
From Pride & Prejudice: "You must know... surely, you must know it was all for you. ... you have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love, I love, I love you."
From Persuasion: "I have loved none but you. You alone have brought me to Bath. For you alone I think and plan."
From The Matchmaker: "If you lay a hand on me again, I'll be mailing it back to you."
I could keep going, but I won't. I'm sure you get the idea... ;)

Mar 27: What inspires me to be healthier and how can it be part of my daily routine? Well, hearing the news that I'm pre-diabetic, that pretty much did it for me. I've been walking every day and I started my strength training this morning. If I'm going to beat this, the first line of defence is to lose some weight (and inches), and that won't happen if I don't get serious about it.

HAPPY TUESDAY EVERYONE!!

March 24: 20 squats done (I did them today)

March 25: Oh sleep...perchance to dream! I never get enough. Well, I did for a brief time when I had no one needing to get up in the morning... I always work evenings so my set bedtime is usually midnight or 1 am, but now I'm getting up at 6:30 am so I'm always a bit short (a little pun intended) (I'm 4'11") lol ya, I need more sleep. I worked last night and Ben was out with friends, didn't get to bed til almost 2... just over 4 hours of sleep last night... it'll be an early night tonight since I'm not working.

March 26: A movie I can quote...I'm a bit of a movie nerd. I can quote Grease, too! but to list a few of my favs: every single Nicholas Sparks movie, especially A Walk to Remember, all Twilight, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and many random ones, like Australia, Hidalgo, A Walk in the Clouds, Letters to Juliet, oh too many to count.... I'm rambling, I should probably just go to bed! lol

Cherie

March 24 - I didn't get any formal cardio in, but I cleaned the basement so I'm sure there was lots of squats in that
March 25 - Do I get enough sleep, not according to my fitbit! lol I usually get about 6 hours of sleep. I try to go to bed around 10:30 and get up at 6, but it's not always restful sleep
March 26 - Movie I can quote by heart? Hmmm, not a huge movie buff, but coyote ugly is one I always seem to remember, or grease. Also little rascals for some reason.
Not much time to post today, work has been crazy, hope everyone had a great weekend!!

March 23 - A choice I can make now that my future self will thank me for? Quitting smoking. It was a good ( but tough) decision that I needed to make for my future me! Also getting out of a toxic relationship!

Letting go (or distancing myself) from the toxic people in my life. I've been trying this for a while now, but it's not an easy thing to do...especially when the toxic people continue to be in my environment. But I will persevere.

March 22: I have read the book "The 5 Love Languages" and I am an "acts of service" I like to do things for people and I'm task oriented and I like it when someone does something for me. I'm not really a hugger but will give them to those who are.

March 21: Yup. It's Chocolate. Lots and lots of chocolate. If I choose dark chocolate I don't usually have repercussions and I can control the craving but if I have milk chocolate, I usually eat too much and I usually get digestive issues (flatulance and diarrhea) I'm thinking it may be more because of the milk... but it doesn't usually stop me! lol

Mar 21: My #1 comfort food is chocolate. And I feel so relaxed and happy when I eat it. However, if I eat too much of it in one sitting, I usually feel sick to my stomach.
