Thank you, LSIG14!

Bright spots in our week this week: early season organic strawberries, pastured eggs, distilled water secured!

I'm really enjoying the spring bird song and was graced by the presence of a spectacular male, Rufous Hummingbird. Oh eM Gee! He was incredibly beautiful and the light captured the iridescent feathers on his throat as he perched at the feeder. Wow!

You take care. emoticon

Thank you, Candi!

I am hanging in there. Because I could see the writing on the wall with the coronavirus situation, I imposed a shelter in place on myself on March 7. My DH began sheltering in place on March 12. Our county mandated shelter in place was issued March 16 and the state's came on March 19.

Securing food has been a bit of a challenge. We live in the suburbs of a large metropolitan area. I know folks are talking about hoarding. But, honestly, hoarding does not appear to be the primary issue. I have yet to personally witness a single hoarder. My sense is that it is primarily a food distribution challenge. People's habits were essentially forced to change overnight.

Nearly 8 million people live in the region we call home. One cannot expect to ask people to change their habits overnight (stay home) and not expect to see impacts to food availability when so many eat most, if not all, of their meals away from home. Although restaurants are being allowed to deliver and provide take-out, it seems that many have returned to their local grocery stores. And, over the years as folks eating habits have changed, many grocery stores closed. So, the food distribution system is being strained.

We've belonged to a community supported agriculture service (CSA) for years. A box of fresh organic fruits/veggies and 1 dozen pastured eggs is delivered to our doorstep every week. Even that service has been impacted and our delivery schedule has been disrupted. The week before last our delivery came at the end of the day rather than being on the doorstep when we rise for the day. This week our delivery is scheduled to arrive some time today: 4 days later than usual.

Thankfully, I knew that was happening and realized that I needed to extend what we had available because food was going to be arriving 4 days later than usual.

The medical challenges had already isolated me. So, honestly, the shelter in place mandate has not really altered my life outside of maybe eliminating 2 trips per month outside the home that were non-essential. More often than not, I venture from the house for essentials only. And, even that taxes my body and can leave me energetically drained for days, if not more.

So, a long winded response to essentially say, essentially same ol' routine for me personally. Absolutely not the same ol' routine for others in my life. They're distressed!

Hope you and yours are well.
