Well I mumble and grumble to myself and then figure out exactly why the situation made me mad. At that point I decide whether it's worth having a conversation about. If a conversation is called for by then I'm nice and calm. The only exception being if I see a person abusing a person who is unable to defend themselves. Then I try very hard to be polite about defusing the problem - unfortunately with people who are rude enough to act that way, that rarely works so I let my anger show. I hate confrontations but this does not occur to me at that time. I don't give a thought to consequences. Thank the good Lord that DH is always my side kick because nobody messes with him!

I agree with you, ladies..... I try to choose wisely the battlefield I am willing to die on.

For the most part, it's usually not really that important.

Erin: YOu've hit the nail on the head when you say more often then not I realize its not a worthy battle to get into or it may even be something that i might realize i need to change in myself.

See, that's just the thing. Often when I encounter a situation or attitude that irks me, it is REALLY ME recognizing my OWN weakness in another person! So with that contemplation I can come to that conclusion, if it's truth, and deal with it!

Wise thing to do, Erin.

i'm with barb. I try not to react right away. I get quite and contemplative. I'd rather think it through and discuss it later after every one has a chance to settle down. more often then not i realize its not a worthy battle to get into or it may even be something that i might realize i need to change in myself.

Slow and steady wins the race!

Vicki: I'm in your camp. I'm generally pretty quiet. There may be a short discussion when I've had time to think things through and get myself settled -- and decide whether it's worth discussing or not! -- then have to let it go.

I get very quiet. Bob says he always knows when he's made me mad because of how I give him the silent treatment. I tell him it's better to be quiet than to say something I wish I hadn't.

Generally I swallow it because I am trying not to loose it over something that won't matter a week from now. If I show anger, I try to wait until I can discuss it calmly. As I get older, I don't find I need to confront much. I'm a lot more of the "live and let live" mode.

How do you handle anger?
