Love the stories ladies. Jeanne, you come up with the best questions!!!

I have so many instances when God put the right person in my path at the right time.

But I think the best was bringing DH and me together; both of us had been widowed, and had pretty much given up on a soulmate for our happily ever after . . . . well, God saved the best for last. And we thank Him every day!

I don't have a DH (never had one-- only asked to marry once and that was my abusive ex--- thankfully we never did) BUT

Many years ago when my son was around 2 we were running out of food and also I only had a couple pairs of underwear to potty train him with. I did not have a washer near by so I was getting nowhere.

One night a friend invited me into her church meeting mid-week that was held in a home. I didn't want to go in at first but I decided to go. Without telling anyone(even my friend) about my situation -- after the meeting the leader passed the hat. While it was going around he then said "I believe we are supposed to pound Kathleen. Next week bring her a pound of butter, a pound of sugar, a pound of flour-- bring her food and find out what would be most helpful to serve Malcolm"

Then when the offering came back he got up and handed it to me. He said "You have a need you haven't shared with us but this will help" It was enough to buy 4 more packs of underwear and I was able to train my son.

I have not been thru the struggles you ladies have been thru, but admire your determination, just as I've had to have that throughout my life, too.

I do thank God every day for my DH, too, as he is a wonderful person, a wonderful husband, a wonderful father. I do believe that it was "meant to be".

Love is the root of all things good in life.

Ellie and Jeanne.... i love the way we each have our own stories to how GOD put the men (DH) in our lives. I was in a very bad place in my life due to circumstances beyond my control, much like Ellie. No support from anywhere and struggling to take care of my 2 boys. God used the most unorthodox methods to put DH and I together almost 20 years ago-- but I'm glad he did.

Blue jay, my story with my husband is almost identical to yours. Picture me going thru a tough divorce, a mentally ill exhusband who wasn't safe with the kids, no family help, no job, living in public housing, and eventually working in a very unsafe drug infested neighborhood, and having absolutely nothing to do with men over the age of 5 by choice (my sons age). I saw no way out. I worked (literally) for ex-cons who later went to jail. I was 100% straight and never bowed to the stuff the ex cons pulled off (white collar ethically "off" borderline criminal behaviors) so I never had any legal problems thankfully. They did offer to "off" my ex for me, which I declined, and he was safe; I never gave them much detail anyway. About 2 years into this I helped out a divorced brother of a good friend who was moving and needed (and had) lots of support from family to clean up his new house and help the kids get settled in. I never saw him as more than a nice man and a good father over all the years I'd known him and his family. I knew it was a God thing a few weeks later, after when he asked me to marry him. That was WAY to soon for me but 8 months later, I married him - 37 years ago. We count our blessings every day for each other.

When I first started in nursing, I met my best friend and our friendship has never waivered. We've helped each other through thick and thin. Always.

As strange as this will sound I needed a teacher, a friend, a soul mate, a love that would never let me down, a lover, and someone to be proud of just "me." DH came back into my life at just the time that God had planned and became all of those things tor/to me. God knew I needed DH at that time probably more than I needed the air that I breathed. He's kept us together for 31 years in just 9 days! I don't see that changing unless one of us leaves this earth. Over the years, we have become almost symbiotic in our relationship since we were so very young when we go together, I'm just not sure where we'd belong if it wasn't with each other!

Was there ever a time when you were in need and someone (human) met that need? Describe.
