At 22 I spent two weeks in NYC with my mom's cousin who was in her 70's. She had -had an amazing life and was still going strong. She had headed up the Red Cross and been all over the world. She took me around the city. It was wonderful. the day before she had to leave to visit some friends she insisted on spending the day with me and showing me specific sights. I had already planned a ruse to get her someplace special. I was very excited and anxious to get to it. I would say impatient too. Finally at the end of the day at sunset I told her my tour book talked about a MUST see photo spot. I lead her down a street towards the East River. She kept saying there was nothing this way. But I walked faster knowing she would not let me go alone. We turned the corner and there was a small temporary building with a few people. I said "oh, what's this?" and went up the stairs inside while she was behind me saying--" I don't think you should go in there."
She came in a moment later and I handed her tickets for a helicopter ride around the city during sunset. She was absolutely flabbergasted that I had saved that much money and would spend it on her.
While up in the air she confessed in all her years there she had never taken a helicopter ride around the city and that she would never forget it.

I just wanted her to know how greatly I appreciated her kindness...and try to do something to show her that I honored her.

looking for friends to connect with, get to know, and encourage each other along this journey. :-)
Blessings
~Kathleen

I honored my Dad’s wishes about how he wanted to handle his final moments of earthly existence and followed his wishes regarding what he wanted done afterwards. Also honoring his wishes EVERY DAY to take care of Mom. I promised him that I would and I wouldn’t think of breaking that promise.

I feel I honor Him each day as well by having ongoing prayerful conversations for guidance and support.

Love is the root of all things good in life.

I can think of two instances. In the first one I made every effort to help our DD remember her daddy while he was in the Gulf War for a year. I was successful! (She was not quite 3 when he left.) In the second one I stayed out of DH's way so that he could make his own decision about whether to stay in the Army or not. I believe that even then God was guiding us because DH decided to get out and it's been nothing but war tour after war tour since then. But I felt it needed to be DH's decision alone since it was his career and he initially intended to stay in for 20 years.

I also try to honor God each and every day but I felt the question was about a person not the Almighty.

How have you significantly honored another person?
