I learned that I can go through a day and have some upsetting things happen but after self reflection I can begin to understand my part that Implayed and after mulling everything over in my head.. I can begin to see why things worked as they did..and that is growth..no one gets the blame..it is all just lessens learned

The pain passes ~ only the beauty remains...

End of week 1 of weight maintenance (+ 0.4 lbs) Currently we have no kitchen in the house as we got rid of the old appliances and cabinets. The contractor has patched and painted and installed half of the new cabinets. We ordered a new stove, over the range microwave, refrigerator and dishwasher to be delivered on the 23rd. Dear wife has been cooking on a hot plate or in a crock pot for two weeks now and we use paper plates and cups, etc. to avoid the need for dish washing as we have no kitchen sink.

I was on the winter challenge also and gained weight because of my health.
I found out my cholesterol & good fat is too low and bad fat is normal. My salt is way too low so my blood pressure on days i do not add salt is 80/50 and is starting to cause heart and kidney problems. My Dr. said recently my blood pressure does not need to be raised. he was wrong. Advised yesterday at a hospital that I must keep blood pressure at 120/80 to avoid heart attack/stroke/organ & brain damage. Today I used packaged high salt foods and added no extra salt to measure how much I needed. I measured 3,000mg, about 1.5 teaspoons of daily salt will keep my blood pressure at 125/80,the normal range. I seldom use packaged foods so now I will measure my daily salt allowance every morning. I now listen to myself more when it comes to my health. I managed at the hospital to get a referral to a specialist that my Dr. would not send me too.

I have pleurisy, 2 types of anemia, macrocytic anemia, Iron deficiency anemia, from blood transfusions with wrong antibodies, causes blood to replace daily instead of 100 days, chronic pneumonia, pleurisy, chronic kidney disease, a partially collapsed lung, low blood pressure & blood clots in both lungs for 3 years. Now formed scar tissue.I am 56 years old. I had cervical cancer 6 years ago, no signs last 4 years as well. I have new blood clots now,2019.I am on P.S.T. time zone.

Finished my winter 5% weight loss challenge with essentially no weight loss or gain but still am only 1-2 lbs above my maintenance weight range. Looking to co-lead a team for the Spring 5% challenge but only a team that does not stress being among the three top finalists in the challenge. This means I want to leave the Awesome A team.

I had a successful week. Achieved 10,000 + steps and drank 64 oz. of water daily. This is now how I want every week to be accomplished. What I now desire is the scale to progress down.

I gained 2 lbs last week but lost one lb the next day. Makes me think some of the weight gain was water retention. My goal is to reach 157 lbs and go on weight maintenance by March 11.

Weigh in today and down 0.6 lb. Slowly chipping away at the 16 pounds I put on in the last month or so. Steel cut oats with apples, cinnamon and raisins has replaced the Christmas dainties that resulted in a lot of that weight gain.

Linda you are very inspiring to me for getting in all those exercise minutes even when it is so cold outside, plus having health concerns.
I made it a goal to exercise more in January and joined the Winter 5% Challenge but I won't know what my weight goal is until I get back from my vacation. I'm quite sure I gained weight since my last weigh in back in October.

I have not heard from the online kidney class,I will try next year after the holidays. In the meantime my weight is the same as it was 6 weeks ago.
I want to get to my goal of 135 pounds by April 1, 2017. I have many free birthday celebrations in January, many free meals on my birthday or my birthday month from restaurants and people, but this month I continue my exercise classes. I will be totally on track by Feb.1,2017 the same day I got on track this year.

I would think you are careful of what you eat even while celebrating because of your kidney problems, but maintaining your current weight is certainly a fine goal also.
No scale here where I'm staying so I don't know if I have gained weight. I think of my diet as a lifestyle though and haven't modified my diet much except for eating some of my wife's fruitcake.
Congratulations on making your goal. You are an inspiration. emoticon

I will call on the next kidney class because I still have not got the link. I signed up for the next class. My weight is the same as it was 6 weeks ago because of about 15 holiday celebrations with food I have had since then. More next month because of my birthday. I exercise a average of 90 minutes daily. My goal for this year was to lose 40 pounds by December 31. I started my new diet & exercise program February 1,2016. I lost 49 pounds since.
My diet will improve a lot on February 1 ,2017 when the celebrations are over & I can reach my final goal weight of 135 pounds for next year. I have less then 10 pounds left to lose.

If I get the link, I have a kidney diet class online in the morning for 2 hours. It is free. They called to confirm, but no link. I have a toll free number for them. I will call ahead of time. I will hope to find out if my diet needs changes, I live in Canada & there are similar classes you can take if you are dying from kidney disease, otherwise blood tests one time a year. I went to 3 Dr's here & a hospital in 6 weeks to get all my tests I wanted done, they showed a lot of improvement in my health. I access my lab results online & look up information on the internet on it before I see a Dr.

I don't know if the goal for posts to this topic should be post daily or post weekly or even post bi-weekly. I last posted here topic on 11/27 with the idea that there would be daily posts, me included; but, it has been over 2 weeks and even I had not made any more posts here. One obvious reason is that this topic being down in the last forum is somewhat hidden and I did not include it in the guide to topics. I decided to make this topic a more regular self reflection for all team members. For now I am changing the title from "post here daily" to "post here at least weekly" and I am including this topic in the "Guide to Topics" so that all members will be aware of this topic.

emoticon 7 Progress made Also read some devotional material.

Besides biblical teachings, a wonderful site for motivational articles and quotes to guide your life is Jonathan Lockwood Huie's page www.sail7.com . I happily recommend you go there. The articles are numerous and listed under the categories of --Happiness;Positive Attitude; Living with Joy,Purpose, and Conscious Choice; Self Esteem - Self Confidence; Motivation - Motivational Articles; Relationship Articles - Love, Marriage, Dating, Divorce; Stress Reduction; Anger Control - Anxiety - Worry; Better Sleep; Career Articles - Work Life Balance; Forgiveness Articles; Gratitude Articles; Law of Attraction; Spirituality - God; Money - Personal Finance; Perspective - Acceptance; Eight points of an Inspired Life - Keys to Happiness; Other Topics--. He is a very inspirational writer and the articles are freely accessible. The site reads like a book. In fact he has written a couple of books and there is one available for around 14 dollars titled "Simply An Inspired Life".

About the book Huie writes "The key to living an inspired life is simple: accept your past; release your expectations; embrace your choices. The truth of the matter is that the more we like ourselves, the fewer expectations we have, and the way we make conscious choices -- in everyday matters large and small are the keys to living an inspired life. Simply an Inspired Life teaches readers to distinguish between events and our feelings about them, to choose thoughtfully, and never blame ourselves or anyone else. Filled with inspiring quotes -- wisdom from the ages and all traditions, personal stories, and exercises, Simply an Inspired Life is based on eight guiding principles: honor, forgiveness, gratitude, choice, vision, action, celebration, and unity with all creation. They are equally important -- and practiced daily they change lives." www.simplyaninspiredlife.com

Huie says of "Choice", There is no "need to", every moment is a choice whether conscious or subconscious, The choice you make should be based upon those principles of life you feel you can rely upon. For me, the 8 guiding principles of Huie's book: 1) honor, 2) forgiveness, 3) gratitude, 4) choice, 5) vision, 6) action, 7) celebration, and 8) unity with all creation, not upon what the world tells you you need to do. Each day is a new day, Jesus preaches forgiveness of past sins or omissions and faith in the future, I intend to focus each day on the eight guiding principles to decide the best action for the remainder of my life and live each day without stress over my past sins or omissions or what could happen tomorrow.

emoticon 8 Sunday; snowed in and sick today, but a good time to reflect on my life and consider the spiritual implications. The three most important things for me to do today are 1) honor God, 2) honor my wife, and 3) practice my speech (I have poor diction) that I am working on.
1) Lately, I have been inspired to consider Jonathan Lockwood Huie's "Eight Points of An Inspired Life" www.jlhuie.com/2009/08/eight-points-
of
-simply-inspired-life.html
. The eight points and affirmations thereof are a. HONOR - I honor my true self; b. FORGIVENESS - I forgive myself and all others with compassion; c. GRATITUDE - I receive all of life with thanksgiving; d. CHOICE - I choose with an open mind and open heart; e. VISION - I dream with powerful intention; f. ACTION - I act with bold courage; g. CELEBRATION - I dance with a light heart; and h. UNITY - I am one with God and all creation. At the above link the above points are elaborated upon.
2) I need to give more of my time to honoring my wife. I am addicted to the computer and to my hobby and need to give more time to honoring my wife. I honor my true self by honoring my wife, but when I end up spending hour upon hour at the computer or on my hobby which does not interest my wife, I am seriously lacking in the ACTION needed to give priority to my wife. I got to spend less time immersed in my own passions and not neglect my wife.
3) Here again, I have been lacking in taking action. I should be spending at least 90 minutes a day practicing my tongue, lip and jaw movement exercises and working on correcting my dysarthria.
That is all the time I will spend on this topic today. I intend to spend the rest of my day with pride.

Strive to be aware of, and live, each moment of your day practicing those principles that you look up to, whatever they are. Ask yourself if you made much progress the preceding week. I myself wanted to lose at least one pound a week. I only need to lose 32 pounds to get to my goal of 158 pounds by my 70th birthday. I lost 0.8 lbs last week. I started jogging 5K's back in 2013 and by alternating jogging and walking is how I have been losing my weight. I read somewhere that those who complete a 5K in 50 minutes instead of in 30 minutes stand to burn almost the same amount of calories per pound of weight so I don't worry whether I finish near the front or the back of the pack. But I aim to keep on doing 5K's until I I can jog at 5 mph for the entire 5K.
I am an easy going guy. When people yell at me or are cross, I don't get upset. I just try to understand what their problem is and work to resolve any issue as best as I can. I am human so I know I can make mistakes. I don't judge people for their first mistakes, but after a couple of similar experiences I learn how much I can expect from them, but I always look for their best qualities and give them the chance to improve by not being to critical of them.
I don't need everybody to appreciate or respect me as I understand that we all come from different backgrounds and experiences. I strive to do my best given my circumstances, but I need to stop regertting my past sins and omissions. Its never too late to change, but change doesn't happen when you let yourself be defines by your past omissions. That is my motto.
So don't worry about your past sins or omissions or what might happen in the future. Focus on do your best each day given the circumstances in the moment. Do this each day, and you will live your life with less stress and more pride and joy. Post here to note where you stand today, so you can later see how much progress you made. If life seems too tough, do it anyway.
As you reflect on your progress post a smilely face to honor your habit of reflection and give yourself a number from 1 to 10 on how well you did. Hint, this number should be greater than 3 because now you are focused on being better.

Update on 12/13 I don't know if this topic should be post daily or post weekly or even post bi-weekly. I last posted here topic on 11/27 with the idea that there would be daily posts, me included but it has been over 2 weeks and even I had not made any more posts here.
