I am so proud of everyone who came out and attempted the 500 January Fitness Challenge. We had so many success stories. Way to go team!!!

I will be using the Fitness Minutes list from the SA Spark Team to list out all 500 minute winners. Great job!!!

Wow, everyone did super great this month! Look at all of you exercising machines!!

I'm finishing out the month with 735 minutes which for me is a VERY good month of exercise. One of my best! I'm quite proud of that. Onward to February and the next "challenge yourself" month!

I was nervous that I wasn't going to meet my minutes for the month but I squeaked it out today. Officially logged 510 minutes as of today. I'm looking forward to more being able to add more minutes in February!

went to the gym with my daughter and swam for 35min and then did 20min of weights. According to my tracker it is 299min for the month. Not stellar but not too bad, considering the late start. I haven't been swimming in years. I need more practice. It was a good workout.

According to my tracker I did 220 minutes this week added to my last total of 533 for a new amazing total of 753 fitness minutes this month.

I got in a 30 min upper body ST workout, so I hit 500 minutes! woohoo! I got off to a slow start, but I'm making up for it! I hope to hit at least 550 by Tuesday!

I got in two separate workouts today, so I'm sitting at 470! I walked/jogged this morning at McAllister for 40 min and then I came home and walked/jogged for 20 min. I might hit 500 today if I decide to throw in some ST. We'll see....

January is coming to a close...how are you doing this month?? Are you where you need to be? There are still a few days left in January and you can still get in a good amount of minute. Did you know if you walk just an hour a day over the last four days of the month - that is 240 minutes. ALMOST HALF THE TOTAL FOR THE MONTH!!

So, what are you waiting for? Get those minutes in!!!

I am loving seeing the numbers come in and reading the successes of all. Way to go team!!!

40 minutes today brings me to 330. I know I'm far away from 500 and I accept the fact that I might not hit 500, but I'm really proud of myself. I hate exercise and this is the most I've gotten in, in months!

Hello everyone!!
So after a great weekend get away to the coast I have 500 fitness min. I walked SOOO much!!! An hour on friday, an hour..3 different times on Sat and an hour on Sunday before heading back!!! My calves hurt so bad right now but I had such a relaxing time!!

It looks like I have maxed out at around 700+ minutes. I am having some leg issues again but hoping that it goes away and I can move forward with more exercising.

Hi, all. Have been a mushroom this week, lots of turmoil at work has caused much angst (I feel exhausted much of the time). We also had several annual planning sessions for Church Council (hated to miss the meet-up yesterday, but had 20 folks over to the house in the morning), good results, but takes a lot of time. I did get in some minutes (almost to 400), but hoped to do better. Starting again for the week--pushing hard to have a good fitness week. Hope your week goes great!

So, thanks to today's walk at the meet-up, which was fantastic and we made lots of new friends - not to mention the walking I did downtown after I left the meet-up, I got 120 minutes in today.

So far, this has been a great month and there is still 10 days to go. I may make it to 1000 minutes. Woo hoo!!!

I'm with Neil, the more the merrier!

I am now at 496 minutes for the month so unless a piano falls out of the sky on my head I should have no problem getting in those additional 4 minutes plus a bunch more at the Spark meet tomorrow!

It's a tiny bit premature, but I blogged recently about how doctors say that if an overweight (not obese) person works out for 150 minutes per week for a sustained amount of time (as in does this regularly!) they will be much fitter than a slim person or average size person who doesn't work out at all and at LESS risk for heart disease, diabetes, strokes, etc than that UNfit normal sized person....so ...may I propose that for FEBRUARY.....

we have the FEBRUARY FITNESS CHALLENGEand get members to pledge 150 minutes per week and report them on the FEBRUARY FITNESS CHALLENGE thread? That's only 30 minutes a day 5 days a week... or 2 one hour sessions and one 30 minute session a week...or 1 two hour session and one 30 minute session a week....or three 45 minute sessions and one 15 minute session a week....or any other way you want to break it up! If we can sustain this for a month it will become a habit....a VERY healthy habit! What do you say, Sparkers?

Okay, maybe I over-did it. Maybe I pushed too hard...which is funny since I only ran one day. But, since Saturday, I became ill and then had my knee injury return, although not in the same place. So, no exercise since Saturday.

One thing to say to everyone - what if I could guarantee you 60 minutes of exercise this weekend with very little effort and lots of fun?? Would you take it??

You can come to the Spark Meet-Up on Saturday morning at McAllister Park. We are meeting at 9:00am at the Al Becken Pavillion for a nice little walk and then a breakfast at Taco Cabana. We did this back in 2011 and had a great time. Right now, it looks to be a good sized group but I am sure the park can accommodate more capacity. I know Taco Cabana would love to have us over-whelm them that morning.

Come on out, meet some people, get some exercise minutes! All in all, a great way to start a Saturday.

Haven't gotten in any exercise in 3 days :( I've been spending all my free time looking for and applying for jobs. I hate spending hours scouring job postings , but it has to be done. I want to find a job that not only utilizes my degree, but is a job that I actually enjoy. I pray that I get an interview soon. I promise to get some exercise in tomorrow!

Yippeee!! I have hit 500 mins+ for the month of January and it feels wonderful. I am really enjoying my Zumba classes and I have been incorporating some strengthening

Hope everyone in the challenge is well. Are you keeping up with your exercise? Have you felt that things have not gone well and are discouraged with where you are at?

No matter where you are - don't give up!!! Keep pressing forward. If you do not hit 500 minutes but get in 400, will you not feel like you accomplished SOMETHING?? Remember, this is a challenge as it is not supposed to be easy. We all get busy, or sick, or injured, or whatever...just keep finding the time to move yourself forward.

One thing I know for sure...YOU CAN DO THIS!!!! WE ALL CAN DO THIS!!!

Wow, we've got some dynamos out there! Great job, everyone!

I'm at just over 400 points thanks to the Spark 28 day boot camp DVD I'm reviewing. Getting the 500 points this month is very doable. It's amazing how quickly and relatively easy those points add up when you have a set goal in mind and team mates joining in and doing the same. Keep up the good work, Sparkers!

Good afternoon Sparkers! Wow everyone is doing awesome--good job KAREN4HEALTH, BACKITATAMY and Wendy way to go! as of today I am at 425 mins. for the month I did some brisk walking this morning for 30 mins. and did 20 mins. of strengthening exercises yesterday. Hooray! May everyone have a good day and keep up the good work emoticon .

Congratulations NEIL, Hows the knee feel?
I hope you do not over do it on the running.
I got in 60 minutes of walking and 20 minutes of biking today.
Bring my total to 408
100 minutes away from the goal.

Mid-month check in. I had a good work out yesterday, and then a walk with the dogs, so 90 minutes total. That brings me to 735 for the month. I'm just hoping that I can keep it up once I go back to work (Wednesday)! I'm very proud of all of us for doing more and working harder than ever before. After all, we are ALL more than the numbers. We're more than the workout totals, more than our ages, and CERTAINLY we are more than the numbers on the scale! Keep on keeping on! emoticon

Hey all. So, mid-way through the month and it is time for a Fitness Challenge Check-In. How is everyone doing so far?

I was hoping to have done more this weekend but sickness set in and derailed me - so I only got a run in. For those of you who know me, I did say RUN - the first one I have done in 34 days and it was horrible. It is like starting over. Now, it could have been cause I was getting sick, but at least I got out there and did it.

Total minutes for me so far is 653. Not bad overall. I met the challenge goal but my personal goal was set higher.

How about you? Where are you at all?

Did upper and lower body strength training today for 40 min, so that brings me to 180 minutes! My goal is to get in 140 cardio minutes and 90 ST minutes this week, would bring me way closer to 400 total. Then I have a week and 3 days to hit 500. Completely do-able!

DId 30 minutes on the stationary bike last night while enjoying a great book.

Minutes this month are 358

Since I'm already behind, I did another 25 minutes tonight. I got in an ab workout during the last half of the Patriots v Broncos game. Go Pats! woop woop! That brings me to 140 minutes! If I do this ab workout on my "days off" I can make up for the time I lost at the beginning of the month!

45 min today. 771 calories burned. I did some Shadowboxer workout I found on YouTube. They use a belt with resistance bands attached, which I don't have, so I just used free weights. It was actually really fun. That puts me at 115 minutes. I'm way behind since I didn't workout the first week, but don't worry....I'll catch up!

My apologies for all as I let Spark slip away from me the last few days. It has been a very busy work week and time outside of that has been a challenge. I have, however, found time to exercise - albeit, late at night at the gym.

Basically, I have hit 599 minutes of exercise so far this month. So far, I have been so driven in January to succeed and it has been all about this challenge. My body is transforming already and I feel so much different. I am loving it!

Know what else I am loving? This team!! Reading all the messages and successes by the team is incredible. You all are doing a great job and it is wonderful to see. I never imagined that this challenge would take off like it has and I am so impressed by each and every one of YOU!!! Keep up the great work.

AAAllright Wendy and Tamara way to go! I got 80 mins of exercise today and it feels so good. Dancing again and sweating up a storm leaves me with so much energy! Awesome feeling... I have done 375 fitness mins. as of today---Woohoo! Keep up the good work SPARKERS lets keep emoticon !

Just finished 40 minutes doing my BL Last Chance workout. Since I hate the sound of Jillian's voice, I found the workout to be very effective if I just keep it muted and have the tv on in the background. It's much easier to get distracted that way and the workout was over before I knew it. I wasn't even planning on workout out today, so I'm pretty stoked!

I am pretty happy today as I have busted the 500mins fitness challenge.....I have had a few days where I just didn't want to do it but I tell myself "just move"....This challenge has given me focus and I plan to continue with what this challenge started! Thanks Positive one!

Hi all! I am at 450 for this month and hope to go out today for a walk with the doggies. I teach college, and my classes start up again next week, so I imagine that it is going to be difficult to find the time to work out as much. But I am determined to keep it up! emoticon

Good morning everyone!!
Hope everyone is well and off to a wonderful 2012.
I have been trying to stay active, got in 40 min. of walking on Sunday and hope to do Zumba tonight or wed. evening!!
Not sure if I am entering my fitness min. correctly, gets a little confusing when entering strength exercises...any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
