Not sure what your low note was, the weather? Jacques tooth? Hope May is starting on a high note for you!

emoticon everyone! We accomplished Agile April, whether it was a perfect score, or we got more done than we thought, or we rolled with the punches, we made it to May!

I did miss a couple of CrossFit WOD's, but I was active everyday, and worked on mental agility with the tiles and sudoku puzzles. And it's helped at work too, as I'm working out some problems there that will get my department in better shape in the months to come!

Last day of April, and ended on a don't know whether to say High or Low note, as my weight is definitely heading in the right direction. I'm almost into my healthy BMI range.

I've blogged about extending this challenge, and in particular next month's, finding balance, into helping not only my physical, but also my mental health.

We can do this! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Thanks, Kay. I like Julia Marie on Amazon prime. I know about Arrianne too, but I feel comfortable with Julia Marie. So I restarted her 30-day challenge with Jacques this morning. He's been under the weather with a tooth abscess, (have I shared that already?) but is getting back to par. He lost his appetite, and so has lost weight too. That makes him more motivated to do the yoga with me, I think.

So today started with a yoga video, then two of Jessica Smith (the second was a killer) as it's pouring with rain, so no walking! Jacques didn't do the JS. I don't teach on a Wednesday, so can do a bit more exercise.

Slow and steady, a little every day, and if for any reason I miss a day, well, it's not the end of the world. I always remember an analogy. If you scratch a car you won't then deliberately wreck it! So why do that with exercise or diet?

And that goes for the house and garden too, eh, Maymay?

We're getting there! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Kelpie, Have you looked at yoga with Adrienne on youtube? She has some good videos.

I've made it to CrossFit on Monday and Pilates this morning, so far, so good for this week!

Great job Kelpie getting those minutes in the morning! And finishing the day strong with some cardio!

Kay looks like you're still rocking the fitness with your classes!

I'm meeting my goals! And my muscles have been sore so hopefully I'm getting stronger.

So nice to have some doable fitness goals to check off daily! - other projects I'm working on in the garden and the house will take months - or years! Sometimes feels a little overwhelming but only way to find the treasure is to keep chipping away at the rocks!

Did a ten-minute stretching video this morning. It was billed as for flexibility, so Agile April, right? I might do it another time after walking etc. The video I did yesterday was just a wee bit much for first thing in the morning, and the shaking woke Jacques! So I'm searching for a 10-minute yogaish video to do. I've seen some possibilities, I just need to keep checking them out.

I got my steps in, just, and then did 20 minutes of the stationary bike to make sure I got a little bit of cardio.

I'm pleased I'm managing a little something in the morning. emoticon

I got up early and did a 10-minute video before breakfast. emoticon

Now it's time to get ready for school.

I usually get the steps in on school days.

The weather has changed, and it's overcast with rain forecast all week, so I'll be doing more indoor things this week.

Let's keep this going! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Yes, the encouragement and watching you all journey is very motivating!

I did a short walk yesterday, not even 2 miles, but I had a lot of steps while folding my laundry. And it's windy and chilly out, not the most inviting walking weather! I did manage to get in a short yoga practice as well! Even did a little balance work! emoticon

And I got my sudoku book out and finished a puzzle I must have started years ago! emoticon

Yep, I like the idea of move into balance in May. And take what we need out of that.

I managed a walk both yesterday and today. Didn't do a video yesterday, but planning to do one shortly. The walk yesterday was a longish one, so that compensated for no video.

What I like is that we are all doing what is right for us, and adapting a need be. And encouraging each other!

I can stand to work on balance too! Maybe we could call in "move into balance in May"? Then it could mean multiple things as well, balance in work/life ratio, balance physically, and whatever movement means as well!

CrossFit was pretty tough this week, but with scaling options, I made it my own! And I made it my 3 days as well!

As for Pilates, my usual instructor went out of town, so we had a sub, she was no slouch! We did a lot of work on our feet, which I must say is very helpful! we rolled a ball under our feet, can be a bit painful, but it sure does improve mobility when we're done! How's that for "agile Aprill"!

I may dig out may puzzle books today!

The video made me giggle Kelpie! The intruders are much better dancers than I am! But I have made the ballet workout video one of my "go-tos" because it does incorporate lots of balancing options that are challenging.

Right now I'm doing the ballet one on Tues/Thurs/Sat, the Fall Into Fitness Day 1 video (the 2nd video on Summer of Strength playlist) on Mon/Wed/Fri her yoga abs video on Sundays. My plan is to add more weight and/or reps to these workouts as weeks go by and to improve at doing the "advanced" balancing options during the moves.

Can't believe only a week left in Agile April! Yes lets Move It in May and Jump into June!

Go team! emoticon

Great to see you here Katiebelle. You seem to be fitting right in!

Since I had a week not following the Summer of Strength videos, I'm behind you Maymay, and have just done the ballet one. It has to be said I'm not even as good as the intruders here www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6wM
WdxXXvo

Still, I'm following the videos, and enjoying them. next week I'm back to school, so things will be a bit trickier, however, I'm going to do my best.

Any ideas for May? Maybe Movement? emoticon Personally, it's balance emoticon I need, but movement fits into that too. And then Jumping in June? emoticon emoticon

We are going great. Doing our best, in the circumstances. You can't ask for more than that! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi Katiebelle! Good for you! I did an easy sudoku the other day, just tipping my toe back in that water! I've been sticking with "tiles" game on my kindle though, it's relaxing at the end of the day!

I like the balance and stretching goals as well, that is so important for good health!

I made it to CrossFit tonight, and we played a game where we had to put a lacrosse ball through smaller and smaller targets, it was a fun warm-up! We did some stretching and burpees in between tries. I really enjoy how creative our coaches get!

Not exactly sure about this, but I’ll try:)

I just learned to play sudoku last week; only in easy puzzles so far.

Working on balance with a cushion and stretching besides walking.

6/6 here! Modified to very low intensity when I was under the weather - actually rather comical, I resembled a lethargic zombie much more than the ballerina Jessica told me I was during Ballet Barre Body workout Thursday evening - but at least I get the participation points! And it helped me sleep.

Enjoy the trails today Kay! emoticon

emoticon emoticon Good for you Kelpie! Hope you enjoyed your walk!

I did OK this week, but I did end up skipping out on CrossFit on Friday...I feel a little bad about it, but on the other hand...I had to take my car in because the low pressure light came on for my tires, and they found a screw in it that needed patching. This wouldn't have been an issue for getting to my workout, except I forgot emoticon my car was in the shop! So when I left work and realized I didn't have my car key, I remembered I meant to leave work early to pick up the car. I probably could have made it still, but I also moved boxed that day (lots of lifting and walking) and thought if I skipped the CF I could go for a walk, and probably have more in the tank for skiing this weekend. It's closing weekend for my ski area.

But I did get to 2 CF and 2 Pilates classes, that's not nothing!

Your very welcome Kelpie! so glad you like the videos...I like that she's very always pointing out proper form to avoid injury and get more from the movements...keep a flat back, engage glutes, etc...I got my son to do one of her yoga-ish videos (called yoga for flat abs) when he was home for the holidays...he's strong and fit but holding poses had him shaking - he was surprised and so was I...I think his comment was "that lady seems so nice but she really makes you work".

So great that Jacques does yoga with you...I've tried to talk my hubby into it but no luck so far!

I had a week off the strength exercises too. Looking after my grandsons really tired me out. I started again when I got back to Vaulx. And I added in yoga, with Jacques. Today we have two of Jacques's granddaughters, so not sure how much I'll get in. Movement, yes, but not sure about much else.

I really have to thank you Maymay for the introduction to Jessica Smith. I've started the five-week challenge again, and noting how I find the exercises each time, and sometimes doing another one. Yesterday I did two, and today I am feeling it! emoticon this was what I found hardest, wall push-ups! So I do need to keep pushing!

More telling is that I haven't been logging food, and the scale has started going up again. I'll post a link on the main page to an interesting take on IF that I sort of follow.

However, I am going to get more agile this April.

I've been going strong, we are working on snatches at CF for the next 6 weeks. This is a difficult movement, but I do feel like I'm improving. I'm not slinging around the amount of weight I see some of the younger/stronger gals put up, but I'm doing what I can!

And we got to work on double unders again! I got a total of 57 in 2 minutes, even though I had to stop to tie my shoes... emoticon emoticon emoticon

emoticon Kay! Hope you get some more favorites at crossfit this week!

I was very bad last week and did not do my strength exercises.

I stayed in motion most days - outdoor chores, kayaking (gentle flat-water paddling so exercise for the soul but not the muscles) - but that's not a valid excuse - there was plenty of time to manage at least five 30 minute sessions.

1 bad week is a how I start falling off the fitness track - I can't let it become a trend - with me it can easily become 6 weeks, then next thing I know 6 months have flown by.

So here's to a new week and a new start! Hopping back on the train before it leaves me behind!

emoticon today! Gonna post that emoticon 7/7 days this week!

so far so good for April...lots of videos and yoga and tons of walking while in Virginia...

3 of the 5 videos have moved on to the next round...Fall into Fitness Day 1, Ballet Body Barre Workout and Stepping Strength (misleading name because no step is required)...I'm going to repeat them again this week to make sure they are playlist worthy!

Keep up the crossfit and pilates Kay! Awesome!

Yes, agility is also thinking on your feet, and flexibility, not just physically, but mentally as well! Good for you for thinking ahead, and also knowing you will need to be kind to yourself as your family moves farther away, Kelpie! emoticon

I haven't pulled out the Sudoku books yet, but I have been doing a NY Times puzzle game called tiles. It's a matching game, so kind of a fun thing to do before I nod off to sleep!

So far I'm keeping up with my CF and Pilates classes, even when I have to push myself in CF when I don't care for the moves! I did get some box jumps in, even got to 21 inches! And last night we practices handstand walking....now I can barely lift half my hand off the floor, so I know where I need to start training! emoticon

The best-made plans, and all that (well he is a Scottish Poet!)

Maymay I had intended to do the same as you, look at the videos we did in March, and this time around make a wee note and see which ones were keepers. However, I'm about to head off for a week babysitting in the former family home. My daughter's partner heads off to Berlin on Sunday, and then daughter and grandsons take the train next Saturday. I may be back in tears next week.

Soooo, do we agree that agility also means able to change, when needs must? I'm downloading some of the videos as there is no wifi in the former family house. I've decided to do the resistance bands ones, as it's easy to pack that. So that's the strength part. I should have thought earlier than just before leaving. If there is time I'll also download some yoga, although I do have some callinetics already on my memory stick. Now that shows my age! They are all about agility, so maybe I'll try them again.

Once I am back here, then I can redo the five-week programme and pick out the keepers.

Yes we can do this! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Yes, yes - I want to be all of these things! Dexterousness can be natural but can also be acquired by practice. My plan for April is to increase my yoga practice minutes and my strength practice intensity.

Starting April by repeating 5 workouts from March:
Week 1 Day 3, W1D4, W2D1, W2D3, W2D5

I'll note after I do each whether it's a good session for leveling up the intensity (adding weight or reps) so I can start pushing muscles to fatigue - while maintaining form!...then "grade" them all at the end of the week to decide which ones are playlist "keepers"...trying to build a playlist of go-to videos to make it easy for "future me" to keep this strength stuff up! (Once again I'm anticipating future excuses and trying to head them off at the pass!)

Can't wait to confidently launch myself from the rope swing and do a couple of flips before splash down!

Agile seems all the more important in these uncertain times.

I 'm going to continue with strength, and add in a bit more yoga for agility. And the yoga will hopefully also help with agility in thinking. Well maybe!

Jacques and I do card games etc. These do make us think.. And that is important.

I'll be beavering away in the background for a week or two, as Daughter getting ready to go back to Berlin, so I don't have a lot of time to spend on the computer. And no wifi in the family home.

Let's all get on with this.

And by the end of the month we'll be swinging from the tree rope over by the waterfall!

Hey folks, Muscle March is almost done, so let's think about what we want to achieve in April!

The suggested theme was "Agile April" so let's get agile!

I'm going to continue my February fasting, 5 days a week, and keep up my CrossFit and Pilates.

agile

ADJECTIVE

able to move quickly and easily.
"Ruth was as agile as a monkey"
synonyms:
nimble · lithe · spry · supple · limber · sprightly · acrobatic · dexterous · deft ·

able to think and understand quickly.
"his vague manner concealed an agile mind"
synonyms:
alert · sharp · acute · clever · shrewd · astute · intelligent · quick-witted ·

I did a quick google search and found the above definitions for "agile" so which way do you want to go, move quickly or think quickly? I think we could go either or both ways.

Given my Open performance, I think for movement I need to challenge myself to do more advanced movements, and not take the easy route in my workouts.

As far as mental acuity, I have a number of Sudoku and Crossword books sitting around, I will challenge myself to completing a puzzle a week.

Anyone else up for some Agility in April! emoticon emoticon
