That sounds wonderful! What a nice way to reconnect with an old friend too!

I pulled out the jump rope at CF on Monday, it's been a while since I practiced that particular skill! emoticon I don't think I hurt myself too badly!

We had a forum at work and my sciatica was quite troubling on the walk back to my office! But then later I was walking around and it was fine...not sure what happened, but I'm happy it didn't persist. It may be something I need to add to the next month's challenge though.

Great job Kay!

On Friday I went to a live outdoor yoga class!

I was going to text an old tennis teammate who’s also a yogi & a personal trainer to see if I could schedule a private class. I googled her first & saw she teaches at a class at a rec center every M/W/F morning. It was an awesome 1 hour gentle flow class with just 5 or 6 ladies. Then spent an hour chatting - so great to reconnect with this friend!

Going back for another class today...it’s a drop-in class no sign up or commitment so really perfect.

Let’s keep on balancing!

Well, I've been good going to CrossFit and Pilates! Some days I forget to get my mat out for yoga...mostly on the weekends. I think during the week I'm more structured so it fits in the flow, on the weekend, I can do it anytime, so it gets done no time! emoticon

I did say "yes" to another bike ride last weekend, so that was nice, again, I pushed the bike up about half the trail, but at least I'm now able to ride it back down!

new goal - super simple

30 cumulative minutes of yoga every day - can be a dedicated 30 minutes or sum of a few minutes here and there - it just needs to happen to get me back on track

I let a month slide by but at least I'm catching it now before it becomes a year!

Hope y'all have been doing better than me!

What a wonderful thing that you can connect with your grandson that way, it must be special for him as well!

I accompanied Larry on a bike ride near Carson City, it was tough, but I was able to do it, even though I was really tired...I pushed the bike up the steep sections, which is at least half the trail! Also did some yoga in the park prior to the ride. I feel like I put Larry off too much when he wants to ride, and I'm going to make a point to balance that out with saying "yes" more often!

Wow, solar panels to do your washing! That's wonderful! emoticon Here's to a sunny day!

this is my first go round with the 7 habits, I'm reading on my Kindle, which has some advantages and disadvantages...the workbook is helpful too!

We'll be working on handstands in CF today, and we did some single leg work in Pilates, that requires some physical balance!

We are working on a big project at work that will require me to balance my work time, so I can get my regular day to day done as well as what is required for this project!

I think rereading the 7 habits will be on my to-do list.

Jacques and I had a nice walk on Sunday. here we are.

Jacques is away fishing this morning. I have to get more balance into my work area at home! So that is on the list. So too, and ultra-important, is getting on with the end-of-term evaluations. With 4 classes it takes time.

Mid-morning I'm planning a walk. The storms are due this afternoon, and I'd rather be out not in the rain. And I really want to do a video too.

Oh, and I'd like to make some cards and do some knitting and sewing.

And add normal household duties, it's sunny this morning, so I want to do 2 machines (we have solar panels and produce our own electricity, so I try to run machines when it's sunny) and maybe even a bit of ironing.

Think I'm trying to do too much, and need to rebalance!

Wonderful! Larry actually wanted to go walking with me last week after dinner! It was really quite nice! emoticon

So balance...I'm currently reading and working with some coworkers on Stephen Covey's "7 habits of highly effective people" book and workbook. The chapter I just finished is about creating a mission statement, so I went to the suggested website and made one! Now I need to keep it in my thoughts so I can put it in action! More balance work!

Physically, I feel like I work on balance a bit, in CrossFit and some in Pilates, sometimes when I do my yoga, although in yoga I really just like to lay down and stretch!

Yes, we'll stick with "move into balance" in June! I need to keep "balance" in the forethought this month, in many aspects of life, physical, mental, professional, and family/home life!

Kelpie, that's wonderful that the scales are treating you well! Have fun with the new wardrobe!

Way behind in so many things!

Let's keep the moving into balance for June, I think it's still as appropriate. And harder than ever with all our various individual challenges and obligations!

So my tweak is that I am going to try to use moving to get into better balance.

I really need to get back to the videos, I am walking and moving, but I need more.

The good news is that the scales are still going in the "right" direction, albeit fairly slowly. And that means I've been able to shop in my own wardrobe and bring out some cute summerish clothes.

So better balance? Keep up the walking, more strength, more meditation and more sleep! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Life can get in the way of our plans and goals...hope you are able to find some success soon, Kelpie!

I'm upping my pushups 3 days a week, getting ready for "Murph" on Memorial Day...it's a hero WOD that is done annually by CrossFitters, and is a mile run, 100 pullups, 200 pushups and 300 air squats followed by another mile run. The elite athletes do this in a weighted vest! I may do 1/2 Murph if I make it to the gym that day.

We did a lot of planks on the reformer in Pilates too, that's good balance! emoticon

Oh, no! Sorry you are affected by that pipeline issue! I hope it's sorted out now? I'm one who likes to wait for the gas light to come on before refilling the gas tank, but I could see how you'd want a fuller tank during those situations. I hope you are able to see your son graduate! emoticon

I practiced handstands at CrossFit yesterday, my physical balance practice! Also I've joined a group that is reading and discussing the "7 Habits of Highly Effective People" so I'm learning I have to balance my mental efforts to get the reading and workbook done in time for the group! We are only 2 weeks in, so I'm sure it will get easier to manage the time.

emoticon What a challenging couple of weeks here...and to top it off there's been panic at the gas pumps the last couple of days due to the pipeline hack...I was worried we wouldn't be able to drive 400 miles next week for son's college graduation because we could get stranded on the way with no fuel available.

But again a silver lining - a reminder to me that hurricane season is about to begin so I should keep my tank full to avoid the pump panic situations that arise anytime there's a storm tracking this way.

Part of my move into balance is working on developing small habits like this that can help me avoid stress down the road!...too often it's stress that knocks me off-balance

With the weekend trip and being out of town, I missed doing yoga on Saturday and Sunday, so I didn't get my balance poses in...we do some balance work at CF so that was good! I'm headed to Pilates soon!

Kelpie, I forgot to say emoticon on hitting your BMI goal! What a great feeling that must be! emoticon

We ended up going on a long, social bike ride on Saturday with my sister and her son. It was fun, we rode around the lake we had planned to kayak, but the wind was a bit much, so biking seemed the smarter option! It was a nice ride, and we really enjoyed the post bike pizza with the rest of the family!

I made it to CF tonight, I kind of wanted to talk myself out of it, since I have a lot going on the rest of the week, but I went, and glad I did! It feels good to sweat it out!

Well I didn't make my movement goals yesterday but I made them small intentionally so I can make up by doing extra time on other days. Guess I'll revise my goals and make them weekly minutes instead of daily - as long as I meet the daily goals 2 out of 3 days!

Kelpie haha...yep 2 out of 3 ain't bad! emoticon on your BMI! Play time and story time with the toddlers is so sweet and special...I would relish every single moment too!

Kay - so exciting to finally visit your family again! You've done a great job planning! Enjoy the hugs and the omelets! emoticon emoticon

Doc visit which I'll post about later on deck and more work dealing with mom's house yesterday...but there are silver linings with both clouds - just have to keep reminding myself!

Good to see you Maymay, sorry about the added stress in your life! Be kind to yourself!

And I agree with the sentiment, gardening is hard work! Really works those muscles in places we rarely get to! emoticon

Kelpie, how wonderful your Alfie wants stories from you! I would totally answer that call as well, priorities!

As for me, I made it to 2 CF classes this week, I won't be able to go on Friday since we are headed down to Roseville (first time in over a year!?!?!?!?) to visit with my dad, sister and see my mom on Mother's day. Hoping for a pleasant trip! I will not do my usual IF on Sunday though, we're having omelets with mom!

Hey May, I am sorry that the stress level is up. It's one of the things I'm trying to deal with too.

It sounds as if like me you could take the title of this song on board emoticon www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8JA
9Qs2Mho

Logging is important to me too. It helps me to focus, and limit mindless (in the philosophical sense) grazing. Those small mouthfuls really add up!

Gardening really counts as exercise, as far as I'm concerned. emoticon For me it doesn't really matter what the label we put on it, it's what happens to our bodies. Remember there was a week when I didn't get the videos done. But I had the joy of lifting toddlers and babies, and walking with them. And looking for diggers and dumper trucks. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Talking of toddlers. Alfie called for a story when I was working out yesterday. emoticon Did I say not at the moment? Did I heck! Moments with my grandson are far too important, even or possibly especially, when we're on a visio call. I'd done 3/4, so I considered it done! I redid a relaxing yoga video later in the evening. emoticon

I think what I'm trying to say is that I'm adapting what I'm doing to my personal goals. I don't need to follow a challenge order. I can find one that suits how I feel at the moment. It can be 10 minutes or an hour.

And the best for last. I am today officially in the healthy BMI range. Right at the top of the scale, but the first time I've been here for years! emoticon emoticon emoticon So thank you for being my support team, and not just encouraging me. But also encouraging me to be kinder with myself! emoticon

My goal is to stay in the range, and slide down it a wee bit more! emoticon

Hey ladies! Sorry I went missing. Y'all are doing so great! emoticon

Dealing with some stressful stuff that has to be done at mom's house. Pushing through and getting it done but making it harder to focus on myself.

Haven't done any videos in 4 or 5 days and went a week or so without tracking my food. Not tracking is a big problem because if I don't check myself by logging every couple of days my nutrition suffers - and then I feel bad mentally and physically. It seems silly that I can't seem to make myself eat well when I don't track but it is what it is...or I guess I am what I am!

Taking some "me time" today to think about May goals.

Goal #1 is track food at least once every 3 days so that I can keep my nutrition balanced!

There is some good news here on the movement front! I've been putting in lots of hours outside doing resistance training in the garden! Pulling up weeds and roots - oh my goodness I'm doing so many forward folds and squats - really engaging my arms, legs, glutes, back - pulling with all my might! And digging when they just won't be pulled and still pruning shrubs and raking and lugging it all to the road.
My arms and back feel stronger than they have in years. emoticon emoticon

Goal #2 is an hour or more of total body workout everyday - either outdoor work or video - as long as I sweat it counts.

Goal #3 is at least 10 minutes of yoga that involves balance each day.

So let's keep on balancing our crazy lives!

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

emoticon emoticon emoticon Nice work, Kelpie! And good balance too, honoring where you are in the day is so important! Kudos for 10 minutes of movement!

I made it to CrossFit last night, we have been working on snatches, and while I didn't get a PR (personal record), I feel like I'm getting better at the movement with the drills we have been doing. We also worked on holding a handstand at the end of class, so how's that for some balance? emoticon

Yesterday I was exhausted. I'd woken up at 3 and been unable to get back to sleep. I didn't do anything in the morning, just too tired. When I got home I did manage the yoga, it was a "rest" day, so it really helped to relax me, and then I did a 10 minute HIIT with Jessica Smith.

And I'm pretty pleased with myself cos I didn't to "only" 10 minutes. I did ten minutes of movement despite feeling that I just wanted to head under the covers!

Nothing this morning, the alarm actually woke me, but I'm pretty sure I can do "something" when I get home tonight. And that is better than nothing!

And yes, knowing that you are here, and I could share with you did help.

Like you, Kelpie, I'm going to continue with what's been working for me and add on a bit.

I'm sticking to my 5 days of IF a week, and once I get below 140 consistently, I will see if I can cut it back to 4 days.

I'll go to CrossFit and Pilates weekly, I know I'm going to miss a CF this coming week, since we are heading down to my dad's on Friday, but knowing ahead of time lets me plan something else.

I'm going to stick with the puzzles to sharpen my mind, also reading helps with that too.

As far as "balance", I'm going to work more balance poses into my yoga practice, and me more intentional about that.

All this really helps me balance out my work/home life ratio, it can be so easy to prioritize "work" over "home life", but as this past year has shown, we really need to honor our entire lives, not just work life.

A short resume of my goals. But first some more background.

As I blogged, a better balance to help with mental health. Michelle Obama talked about the pandemic being a factor in her low-grade depression and she said “So I have had to kind of give myself that, those days, those moments,” she said, “but for the most part, staying in a routine, getting a workout in, trying to get outside.” So much of what I have been trying to do.

Like for many of us, this pandemic has added another level of stress to my already stressful existence. Not just the presence of the disease itself, but also not being able to see my mum and granddaughters in the UK. And all the other stresses that it brings.

These last two months have been very helpful. I've found what works for me, and if I miss a day's more vigorous exercise, well, it isn't the end of the world. As long as I keep moving a little bit. Having monthly goals helps too. They are within my reach.

So goals, keep doing what I have found works for me. Logging my food most days, with 2/3 days IF low calorie. Do a Jessica Smith video most days. Continue with the 30 day Julia Marie challenge, with Jaques. Walk outside when I can.

And adding in? Well, it's a case of physician heal thyself. I help others with my Sophrology. I'm going to make sure I do it daily, starting at the basics again. I am pretty sure that will help me to find a better balance.

What about the rest of you? Your goals for the month?
