For those of you with a sugar addiction you would find reading Bright line eating book interesting, even if you decide not to do it. It will explain a lot...

Marianne - you are also doing great!

I am going to try eating LC/HF again. Norm announced yesterday that we need to go back on Keto. I was so excited as he's never followed it with me. So this morning, I got up and had my Keto breakfast. He on the other hand, ate a doughnut at coffee. Then came home and ate 2 slices of toast with peanut butter. I asked him what the deal is. He admitted he won't eat low carb but just the one cooked low carb meal that I make helps him. So, oh well, I guess I'm on my own as always.

Carol - I don't know who enjoys Norm's hearing aids more, him or me! I do notice, since Norm hears so much better, how much of a hearing loss I have. They are wonderful but I don't get them free like Norm so I'll be waiting awhile. I must admit I am also addicted to sugar. And over the winter here, I have gradually been eating sugar and I am out of control! One of the reasons I am going back on LC/HF. After a couple days my craving goes away.

Tessa, great progress!

Carol, my newest hearing aids are incredible ó technology made huge advancements in the 7 years since I got my old ones. I love using my phone app to raise and lower volume, and select different environments. Good luck.

Sharon, Iím making Peteís lemon merengue pie today; telling myself just to taste the filling, lol.

My weight is down another pound, totaling a 9 lb loss since Christmas. That puts me where I was 3 months ago. emoticon

I know I'm addicted to sugar, even thinking about not having it gets me craving. What a mess.

My gut seems all better today and I had more audiology work-up and saw the ENT doc. Tomorrow I have a visit about hearing aids. Sheesh. But I'm looking forward to seeing what hearing more normally is like. emoticon

Tessa - you are doing well! It sounds like you were stuck in the 170's for a long time. I'm glad you stuck with it long enough to see you weight start dropping again. BTW, I'm a daily weigher as well.

Marianne - you are stronger than I would be with the pie! I'm afraid I would have to have a piece. However, if you are avoiding sugar, just one piece could make the sugar addiction rear it's ugly head!

I am eating very light today as this evening is Dinner Night Out and as a group we are going to a Mexican Restaurant - a land mine of carbs!

Since aug 2018 my weight has mainly sat in 170-175 range, dipping below on a couple of occasions (for a few days!). I've been losing since new year but I've noticed as I get on the scale (I'm a daily weigher, it works for me) I think lets see if I'm still the same-the last few days I've been 163.? but I'm thinking 173.?. It's like my head hasn't quite caught up though I know my clothing is fitting better (or too big). Guess I'll catch up with myself at some point!
Hoping to see the 150s soon

Pete picked The Cheesecake Factory for lunch and I was sure he would order dessert but he surprised me and didnít. If he had, I probably would have had a bite ó my usual practice. He said heíd eat popcorn at the movie, and he did. I take sugarless gum. emoticon

This week Iíll be tested because Iím making his favorite lemon merengue pie for his birthday, and itís something I enjoy too. However, Iíve spent the last week with no added sugar and really donít want to break that streak.

228 today. forgot to WI yesterday. Carol, don't tell the drug lords about that fruit pit... LOL ! Narcotic properties when eaten raw which of course they do not recommend. Wonder if Narcan will reverse it ? I deleted my opinion...Ö.

Posted on the other thread also.

Marianne, well done at that new place to eat. Not sure if I could have done it myself.

Heather, you have come so far. Do not lose hope. This is temporary !!

Carol, almost forgot, I hope you ae feeling better now.

Marianne, you went to dinner at a dessert place and didn't have dessert?? Holy cow, that's brave of you.

Sharon, the funny red fruit has a little oval about the size of a big grape inside, and it's sweet and refreshing. As to who opened it up first, I'm betting it was the monkeys.

All I did yesterday was read and do the bills. Oh yay, property taxes.

We got up and left yesterday morning so early, I never stepped on the scale. We went to Barefoot on the Beach Mardi Gras Parade! We had such a fun day with our friends.

So this morning, I weighed myself and I'm actually down 2.2 lbs from last Saturday. I'm like Heather in the fact that I am up and down every week. I'm holding myself to within 5 lbs from when I arrived here. I only have a couple more months and I will be home. Perhaps that will help!

Marianne - good job at the Cheesecake Factory, especially avoiding their cheesecake!

Carol - sorry to hear you have been sick. I hope it's not the flu, at least not the CoronaVirsus!
I am lucky Norm does such fine work. I am loving my new porcelain sink! I have never heard of that fruit! I googled it and it is really strange looking. I wonder who said, "let's open this up, see what's inside and eat it!" It sure wouldn't be my first thought. Is it juicy, sweet or sour?

Heather - whenever I see that picture, it reminds me of how far you have come. Sometimes I forget. You have accomplished so much. Be proud that you are fighting with a few pounds and not regaining your weight.

Tessa - I'm glad you lost a little from your cast. That means it must feel more comfortable to lug around, lol. I hope you heal well and have no lasting issues after the cast is removed.

Carol, so sorry youíre ill ó I vote for whatever your stomach can handle. Never heard of that fruit but will check it out, thanks.

We went to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch yesterday and I had a 300 calorie lettuce chicken taco appetizer from their Skinnylicious menu, surprisingly delicious and filling. Neither of us had dessert, LOL. I was very pleased that my weight is still down where it was last week, now focusing on losing another pound or two.

I've been emoticon

Don't know what it is, but it just sucked the life out of me, so I haven't been very communicative.

Teamies, the added sugar issue drives me nuts! It's everywhere! I'm just trying to eat moderately and healthy on the 16/8 plan. But I even drank a real Coke (first in several months) to settle my stomach.

Sharon, my brother's RV came with a porcelain toilet and sink. We'd never be able to do that in our camper as it's all sorta molded in one piece? I'd like to put a new faucet on the kitchen sink, tho.The lights look very cool, good job! Of course Norm could make them look factory installed.

Tessa, glad to hear the arm is progressing. I've missed a lot, can you drive now? I hope so.

All I've been eating the last few days is comfort food, so not losing weight. I tried a new fruit, tho. Have you heard of the rambutan? It's red and "hairy". You peel off the hairy part that looks like a fright wig, then eat the little translucent sweet fruit inside. I'm thinking monkeys would really like it. I just had to try it.

Heather yum ! Your food always looks so good. I assume you just boil the syrup recipe ? Erythritol is swerve.

Tessa, glad the pins are out. Mine were stuck and the doc had to twist and pull hard which sucked after the first one coming out so nice. I had 3 all together but was a few years ago.

Thanks Marianne...
That stir fry sauce is a lot like the Slimming World recipe I gave the link to last week.
Some of the spices on mine went on the stir fry first....
Then you added the liquid mixture after....
Yours says honey....mine was maple syrup
Yours says rice vinegar...mine said balsamic
Yours says broth...mine was just water....etc....

But yours looks easier so I am going to try it emoticon
You said you were going to try it without sugar? Do not see sugar on the list you gave?

Heather, I like the recipe, and your picture, Yum! emoticon

A friend sent me this recipe for a stir fry sauce. Iím going to try it without the sugar.

Stir Fry Sauce
Ĺ cup low sodium soy sauce (or tamari)
Ĺ cup chicken or vegetable broth
1 Tbsp honey
1 tsp rice vinegar (not necessary but nice addition)
Grated ginger to taste, or ground ginger Ė
1.5 tsp Garlic to taste
1 tbsp corn starch
Put all in a jarÖshake up and there you go!
Add as much as you need depending on how much stir fry you are cooking. Put in at end of cooking. Only takes a few minutes to thicken

Tessa - we really don't worry about weight. Our MH is 38 foot and we have never had a problem. Some people don't even put water in their tanks to travel but we do. Norm worked in a RV dealership and he seems to think we are fine with axel weight. Some people try to keep them light for better gas mileage but we travel here and sit for 6 months so we don't worry about that so much.

I've eaten out twice this week which is unusual for me. Feel I made good choices (on plan) both times which is pleasing.

Sharon, interested to hear you putting porcelain in your motorhome. I guess big ones don't have weight considerations. Our motorhome is small so our payload is good, I know others have to be far more careful even about how much water they carry.

Marianne - Great minds think alike! I bought ham and split peas this week to make split pea soup. I think it sounds so good and filling.

Our trip to Lowe's yesterday was to buy a new sink and faucet for the bathroom in our MH. We have always hated the plastic sink so while Norm was fixing the countertop from my water overflow the other day, he thought now was the time to change the sink. So we bought a nice porcelain sink and a new faucet. I love the new faucet as it has a LED light in it and it lights up when you turn it on. It is wonderful for taking a pill in the night without turning a bright light on.

Anyway, the MH is quite the mess right now. This afternoon Norm will finish the trim and then it will be my turn to clean up everything! So far, I am enjoying it.

Sharon, I really like that salad at Whataburger too.

70 degree temps outside so the dogs enjoyed a much longer walk than usual. All the trees are in bloom - we havenít had much rain but hopefully Spring will deliver.

I have a ham bone soup mix with dried veggies, including beans, and seasoning. Without any added ham, it will be about 100 calories a cup with low sodium and high fiber. Making it in the crockpot tomorrow and will measure the ham, itís pretty lean but it is smoked.

Pin removal was pretty much painless which is what I'd read but found hard to believe! 3 holes now to heal but it feels better than before.
It's also smaller so there are a few more tops/jumpers I can wear with my arm through the sleeve!
I know I'll need exercises to get it moving once the cast is off not sure what else...

Tessa - It's nice that you can pick a colored cast now days. Pink is a good choice. Did it hurt to remove the pins? I remember after they removed my cast, I had to wear a brace for a couple weeks. I actually felt more confident with the brace then to go without it.

We had to go out to Lowes this morning so we stopped at Whataburger for lunch. I got the Cranberry/Apple Chicken Salad. It was delicious.

I've had the pins (K-wires) taken out of my wrist today and a new (bright pink) cast put on.

Hopefully just another 2 weeks, then I can get it moving again.
New cast should be lighter.. but we've been away for a couple of days so not sure what my weight will do!

TC.....the sweet & sticky sauce worked well with the ED Smith No Added Sugar. But this product still has quite a bit of natural sugars per serving.
You could try using Swerve instead ....maybe add a bit more water?
OR...you could search the stores for items like this one....

My Sweet & Sticky Sauce was so good that I made it again today. I used ED Smith sugar free syrup instead of the maple syrup. It was just as good.
I chopped up my already made meatloaf muffin ( which I had frozen from last week ) Stir fried it a bit then added it to the sweet & sticky sauce. Just for fun....I took some wonton wrappers and put some on the meat mixture inside them and air fried them.
Made a salad of mixed greens and had this all for my supper.
No photos....but it was YUMMY! emoticon

TC - as your income is so important to you, I hope you can recover as quickly as you can without losing your income. I don't see how you can work now when you can barely walk. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Yesterday Norm had a good day. A group of men sat outside and watched the Nascar race, had snacks and relaxed. Unfortunately, the race was rained out but at least he got some man time and that always helps. My friend Sandy and I did some shopping and took a tour through the Fulton House and got to see how the very wealthy lived in the 1800's. We enjoyed that more.

Today was another very warm and humid day for exercise. We did 1 mile WATP then we did a Richard Simmons Sweatin' To The Oldies. We decided to pass on the Chair Yoga today.

My weight is slowly going back down so I feel better again and more myself.

Heather - your chicken looks delicious! You can cook for me any time!

TC....
I suspected a meniscus tear. Alex had one done a few years ago. The scraping of the meniscus seems to be a fairly uncomplimented procedure....
Alex's was done with spinal anesthetic.....
You will be off work and shoveling though I am afraid....not sure how long....think it depends on how much scrapping needs to be done?

So sorry ladies. I thought I had posted this. Getting old... LOL !! Getting an MRI on Thursday and will get results next week. Ortho doc thinks it is a meniscus tear. I keep trying to walk w/o the cane since I can not use it going back to work but the knee keeps swelling up and popping with pain. Walking and biking with no resistance is ok.

I researched the connection between beef and inflammation and found some evidence. This seems like a balanced article and targets processed meat, such as hot dogs, as a problem.

//www.healthline.com/nutrition/6-foo
ds
-that-cause-inflammation#5

Of course, sugar, trans fat and refined carbs are also mentioned, as well as too much alcohol.

I try to get more anti-inflammatory foods into our diets, which seems more reasonable to me.

Heather - I agree that TC probably injured her knee. I just was surprised at the "beef" discussion. Her doctor told her it was causing inflamation. Several other posters agreed. I never heard that!

I have never heard tell of the * beef * thing in relation to knee pain.
TC's knee pain sounds more like a bad tear in the meniscus .....esp since she actually heard the loud * popping * sound....

TC....like Sharon asked....what did the DR say?

I weighed in this morning and I am up 2.6 lbs from last Saturday. It's probably from over eating but stress could be adding to it.

Ron's Memorial Service is on Feb 26th. Now we must decide whether to travel 15 hrs home and back for a 1 hr service. I am letting Norm make the decision. Of course, we would like to be there. And once back home, I would hate to leave again to be honest.

TC - what did you find out about your knee when you went to the dr the other day? I was reading in one of my FB forums that a lady had knee issues and when she went to the dr, he took some blood work and tests. He decided it was the beef she was eating. She stopped eating beef and all her pain went away! Have you ever heard that in the medical field?

Well, we got the call this morning that Norm's brother has passed. All his children were able to say their goodbyes. As usual, Norm isn't saying much. He took a long walk to be by himself. I was concerned but he said the reality is hard to accept being down here. One of the last coherent things he said before he passed was that Terry & Norm need to put their spat aside and behave like brothers. Norm agrees.

His wife called late last night and said don't bother to come home as he is being cremated and she will have a Celebration of Life Service at a later date. We were OK with that but this morning we found out his sister in KY is flying in to be with family. She will spend a couple days with Kay so she isn't alone. So the other siblings are there to grieve together except for Norm and for that we feel bad.

We also got bad news on my side of the family yesterday. My sister that I am so close to had a hysterectomy a week or so ago and the lab just came back and said it was cancer and that she will need chemo treatments. I didn't dare tell her that Ron's death was speeded up with his chemo treatment!

Sorry to just give bad news - hopefully my next post will be more upbeat!

Sharon, prayers out for Ron and all you family. I hope he goes peacefully, if it be God's will to bring him home soon.

Happy Anniversary Marianne & Pete !!

Heather, don't be too bummed about the weight gain unless you are purposely tripping yourself up, and if so, get back in the game GF ! I am up to 228 this morning but I have not gotten my steps in the past 3 days and that makes a big difference. I had cheese and wasa crackers (2) for dinner and craved ice cream about 3 hrs later but had only 1 serving and was SF. BG was up so I am definitely not carb tolerant... Geeeez...

Mary, I like having soup when itís cold and won ton soup sounds good. Finished off the Greek Lemon Chicken soup and pulled some chicken taco soup from the freezer. Pete and I used a gift certificate yesterday to get a 4 lb smoked honey ham for Valentineís Day and our anniversary tomorrow. Iíll make bean soup with the bone and leftovers, mainly for Pete, lol.

I put my baked eggplant Parmesan dish recipe on the recipe thread ó turned out so well!

My weight for Biggest Loser Challenge on Wednesday was down 9 lbs from 6 weeks ago. Up a bit today but probably sodium from the smoked ham ó Iím skipping that for a day or two.

I wish I could say it is a Happy Valentine Day but our hearts are grieving. First they called to say Norm's brother was going downhill so they were taking him in to surgery. Now they called to tell us the doctors are not going to do surgery as his body is shutting down and he's not going to make it. So now we are waiting for the call to say he has passed.

Norm is off getting our oil changed on the car in preparation for a quick trip home if necessary. We haven't discussed funeral arrangements so we don't know what or when that will be. He may be cremated with a service later or a regular funeral.

So please pray for Norm and his family!

Good MOrning to all!

Oh ouch to you TC and hope it is so much better today and that the doctor can help you. Thinking of you.

Love the poem Sharon!

Tessa! How are you doing?

Marianne ...Heather.....I am not so much as a spice person anymore. ....heartburn issues you could say! I....am careful when I do.

Soup today...will be wonton from a chinese place. We use to get take out on a regular basis but not so much anymore...I mean take out Fridays. Today we are...and the last time was November? So...wonton and one egg roll.....light lunch as far as volume is concern...but I find this filling all the same. Soup does that..and the egg roll is a treat!

Carol..hope this day finds you well too!

All have a good one!

HEY it is Valentine's Day! LOL!

WI today was 227 so a bit better but am feeling sorry for myself and want to eat. I am NOT hungry and need to listen to that more. My fitness minutes are crap right now and I find that very frustrating. I am going to check out all your recipes now because I love spice. I really love the low carb bread from deidra's kitchen on youtube. I will try to find the link. It is not keto since each slice is 6.7 carbs if you can get 20 slices but boy it was good. Not gluten free either but wondering if I could sub a nut flour for the wheat gluten.

Worked yesterday, snowed, so had to be really careful in parking lot. Thankfully, I did not fall but coming up stairs at home, I heard a loud pop in RT knee and super bad pain. Could not put much weight on it to get up other 8 stairs and hate to admit it but cried the whole time. Mike found his walking trail stick and I am hobbling around this morning. A tad less pain with the stick. 1:30 ortho appt so I am hoping they help. Glad they could get me in and my sweet momma will drive me there. Tired of being in so much pain. I rarely have pain over a 4-5 and this is consistently 7-10.

Yikes! Yesterday was NOT good for me either. As usual, our Ladies Tea was mostly finger foods. Lots of fruit, marshmallow and other things to to run through a chocolate lava fountain! I could have ate the plain fruit but everyone was giggling and laughing and having fun with the fountain so I joined right in! Way too much chocolate sweets! We each had to create a Valentine's poem in 15 minutes. My team was the winner and here is the winning poem. I hope you can read it.

Then we took our guys to the Mexican Restaurant and enjoyed a wonderful calorie ladened meal.

We had movie night to finish the evening. Sandy was going to hurry home and pop some popcorn but I said NO MORE. I warned them I was not going to bring a snack at all and to smack me if they saw me eating! That helped but I didn't step on the scale this morning.

Today I am being much better but I do have Zona's BBQ'd Ribs in my crockpot and they smell so good. I will have some Keto Cole Slaw and Broccoli for our side dishes!

Brenda, I have to cut the spices down for Pete ó usually I just add them to my portion.

Yesterday I made regular fajitas since we still had some Greek Lemon Chicken soup left over, which I will be having for lunch today. I donít use taco or fajita seasoning packets, too much salt, and I left my usual garlic out for Pete. However, I use a spicy salsa and he uses mild.

I am so happy that my weight is down again this week. Another few pounds and Iíll be where I was before Christmas!

Zona's soup was really good Mary....but you have to like spicy.

I am not doing good at all this week! Last night I had a carb attack and ended up snacking on carbs before going to bed....
If I had not booted my own bum.....I felt like I just wanted to sit there at the table and eat more cereal/ more toasted sesame mini baguette crisps/ and more whole wheat Melba toast while I read my book!
All my carbs are the healthy ones here but I just seemed that I could not get enough! emoticon

Certainly did not practice moderation last night! emoticon emoticon emoticon

It must be soup time! I made another batch of WW's Zero Point Taco Soup which is one of my favorites to grab out of the freezer for a dinner. Norm won't eat it as it's too spicy for his taste.

I made fried cabbage yesterday and dished up his half before I added Cayenne Pepper and Red Crushed Peppers to mine! I like it hot! He doesn't! My weight was down because of it this morning. Up, then down! Nothing seems to change.

I am not eating much for breakfast as today is our Ladies Tea. They usually just serve light finger foods. However, we have plans to go to a Mexican restaurant for early dinner today.

Heather,

Iím going to try ZonaĒs recipe since I have a couple of uncooked chicken breasts. I made Greek Lemon chicken soup today, cut the spices a bit so Pete would eat it. Really good.

I didnít have couscous so subbed quinoa, but rice would work as well. Also squeezed 1/4 fresh lemon in the bowl for extra flavor.

It is so humid here today! The a/c woke me up at 6am! I knew it was going to be a bad day.

I went and did my Exercise Class. The sweat kept running into my eyes. Then the yoga was just as bad. My hair was completely wet. We all laughed at how we looked. Of course, I came home and took a shower, changed clothes and redid my hair. I look and feel human again! BTW, it was one of our largest groups for class today so it didn't keep anyone away. It was 72 when I got up at 6:30.

Yesterday, I spent most of the day watching TV on the couch. Only about 1,000 steps the whole day. I can safely say I've already done much better today.

Tonight Brian Arnold is going to entertain us. He was resheduled from last month. His mother died and he had to reschedule. I am looking forward to his show. He is very good, IMHO.

Thank you all for your comments on how we help each other. Usually when we go MIA, it's because we are not doing well. That's one of the reasons I like to check on those that go silent.

Good Morning to all!

Well....Heather ..the first thing I thought of....was that you are in a plateau...and perhaps...read articles to help you? Not sure. That is the only thing I can think of. Then really go over what you are doing/ Sometimes if you always eat the same foods...that can do it...so ..add different variety to your day? Meals?

TC.....well...i can understand your frustrations....but...try not to compare what others can do and you cannot. I am the same way....but I seriously try not to think of it. I know we can all relate to the yo yo thing too.

Marianne...glad that the operation went well for Pete! Amazing what they can do now!

Carol...Tessa.....Sharon..hope this day finds you well.
I am off...

need to make my smoothie...shower..and off to work we go.

Wishing everyone a good day !

DH had his cataracts done some years ago (early 50s, quite young). Then I saw my mum through it too. Here they do one eye then the next a few months later.

Mary, I learned a lot about cataracts and the surgery following Peteís experience, and figure Iíll probably face it in my future too. Just sorry I wonít be able to have it at the Palo Alto VA hospital ó his surgeon is superb.

Sharon, Iíve been going up and down with my weight too, mainly because of eating out, and it is extremely frustrating. Iím reading about will-power and how to exercise that ďmuscleĒ so I donít give in to poor choices as often. And I agree, without Spark, Iíd definitely weigh a lot more! My weight is back down to where it was 2 weeks ago. Iíve lost the 4 pounds I set as my goal in mid-January, and now want to keep that loss through the end of this month and then set a new goal.

Heather, your snow is beautiful, from a distance. emoticon Iím guessing that all that shoveling is giving you quite a strength training workout, and helping to build muscle. Youíve been successful with your eating before, I have faith you can do that again. The photos of your meals inspired me to eat a larger variety of veggies.

Morning! I never found time yesterday to check in! Went to breakfast at the clubhouse, then with some friends out to the beach for the day (pictures on FB). Then we had a Birthday Party in the clubhouse for all the Feb Birthdays last night.

The good news is I lost the weight I gained last week. I must admit I'm up and down. I go with friends and eat what I want,. Then when my weight jumps up, I pay attention long enough to see my weight go back down. I haven't gained weight but I haven't really lost either! I just pray I make it back home without a gain overall.

We all belong to SP because we have life long issues with controlling our weight. I don't suppose it will every go away but we need to keep trying. If not for the friendships I've gained here, I would probably be twice the size I am. So let's keep encouraging each other and keep pushing!

Good morning friends !

I am currently in reset mode. I logged on PC yesterday just long enough to log in, spin points wheel and log points so you all know I am still alive... LOL !! Mike and the kid are in So English getting the wifi speed increased and resetting cameras. I am thinking he is considering moving there ? Not sure but he sure checks on that house a lot. Anyway it is blessedly quiet here and I am enjoying it. Told the kid no more food in trash in her bedroom. Nasty putrid smell and I finally found out why. Ö. SIGH....

I think I finally found everything I need for my taxes so off work Tuesday and will drop them off. Brother Chris stopped by yesterday to show me where his arm got burned by the adhesive on his CGM patch. He was considering quitting his job until he came back after 3 weeks off and they all begged him to never leave again... LOL So, now he does not know what to do. I was no help. I pointed out the positives of both jobs. Lunch with mom today. Crappy work week ahead, work 1 day, off 1, etc all week.

Weight back up to 229 yesterday but I have to say it was because I did not want to cook so ate tamales which I know raise BG, make me gain wt and retain salt. I am having issues with the knees being painful yet so very slow moving first 2-3 hrs in AM.

Tessa, gald the cast is more bearable now. Long time in hospital with mom. Sorry no skiing for now. Better to heal right, then go back to what you enjoy.

Mary, I am sooooo ready for Spring !! I hate tracking my food but that helps me stay the course the best. This yo- yo wt thing is depressing the hell out of me.

Carol, I have early cataracts also. Sorry about the eharing but I hope you get a great deal on new hearing aides.

Heather, I am in your boat right now as far as mood, I think, Makes me angry as hell when Mike and kid can eat whatever they want and not gain weight. Got to remember we are ALL different for a reason.

Just a small loss for me this week but that's fine. They did add to my cast on Tuesday (though I doubt that weighs much!)

Carol....I got my pot cleaned to using baking soda & vinegar....leaving that soak for a couple of hours. That lifted most of it. Then with a stainless steel scrubber & some elbow grease....it turned out spic & span emoticon

Got 3 and 1/2 hours of exercise shoveling and blowing snow and another hour swimming.
The snow is still falling and will be all day tomorrow and possibly into Sunday. emoticon

Carol - Victoria is about 60 miles from here. Corpus Christi is 30 miles. Victoria is a little further but it has all the stores and restaurants that you could want and the traffic is much better. CC scares me with all the super highways and traffic criss crossing in front and back of you. Makes me a nervous wreck. I won't drive and don't even enjoy Norm driving. There are lots of little towns between both but at best they have a WalMart and a Mom & Pop type restaurant. It must be difficult for you to live so far from the nearest town. Is that where you go for groceries? I can see why you don't eat out much. Do you need to drive that far for you yoga classes? Our last home out in the country was like that. One of the things I enjoy the most of our home in MI is that we are only 1-2 miles from anything we could want or need!

Mary, I don't have dental insurance either. I usually only have to do cleanings twice a year, which cost the same as the dental insurance. I may convince myself to get some tho'.

My newest issue is HEARING AIDS! I did my Medicare wellness check and complained about my hearing - mostly about DH's complaining about my hearing - and she referred me to audiology. I found out that even my "good" ear is not hearing up to normal. I see the MD at the end of the month. The alternative for one ear is surgery in a town 200 miles away. I really don't want anything pointy poking near my brain!. A friend told me her DH got his hearing aid at Costco, a good one, and it cost about $1500. I've heard they can cost much more than that. We're getting a Costco this Summer to I'll check them out.

Tessa, sorry about no skiing, but I wouldn't want you to either.

TC, good for you for pampering yourself just a little bit. Do you work alternating days over the weekend, too?

Marianne, good luck to Pete. Cataracts are in my future too. How far away from home is Pete's VA?

Heather, yes, it is a continuous struggle. I even tried hypnosis decades ago, and it didn't help either. I once had people over for our own corn on the cob and left the pot with the leftovers on simmer when we looked at the garden outside. One guest suggested throwing out the pot, but I got it clean.

Sharon, I just knew it was water weight causing your gain!. But the post made me hungry for Mexican, too and I want to weigh in tomorrow. How far is Victoria from where you are. The closest town to us is 30 miles away and there's nothing there to go for unless it's the county fair in July.

Mariane - best of luck for Pete's surgery. He will be glad to have it over I'm sure. I know how good it feels to see the weight gain come off. I am hoping to be good overnight so I can report a nice loss tomorrow.

I went with three other ladies to the city of Victoria yesterday. No special reason - just a road trip with the girls shopping. We had such a fun day. The lady driving spent the last three years there for the winter so was very familiar with the city. She wanted to take us to Joe's Pizzeria for lunch. We expected a small pizza place. Instead it was a beautiful Italian Restaurant equivilent to Olive Garden or Johnny Carino's. The four of us split a pizza and had house salads. So good!

I think I'll try to get a second opinion on skiing, he may be a particularly cautious person. Though if conditions look icy we wouldn't go, snow has been poor this season in Europe.

Tessa - I know how much you enjoy your skiing so I am sure you are disappointed with doctor's orders but I do agree with Mary that your body needs that time to mend.

Mary - It got very cold here in TX last night but no snow! However, one of my friends that lives north of Houston texted me that they got snow!!! So perhaps your snow is coming from TX!

My Mexican restaurant meal yesterday killed me or it could have been the popcorn I ate last night at Movie Night. I didn't weigh myself as I can hardly move my rings so I know I am retaining water. Sounds counterproductive but I will be pushing the water today!

Spent too much time at the hospital, yesterday with my mother for her hearing test, today I had a work meeting in the morning and fracture clinic in the afternoon! Rather than go home between I met a friend for coffee. I've walked about 8 miles today!
Dr happy with how my wrist is healing and they've adjusted my cast so it's more comfortable. So that's good. Sadly he said no to skiing this season which I'm very sad about. Time to rethink our holidays again..

The scale was more than kind to me this morning! It just shows that I know what I need to do. Today is another restaurant meal and although I enjoy the food and social aspect of Ladies Lunch Out, I must be careful as sodium is not my friend!

Today our temps will be in high 80's and may even set a new record! Then tomorrow a cold front is moving through and we will drop dow to highs in the low 50's.

Working weekend went crappy as usual but it is over. Now if I can get thru the next 4 work days life will be better. Weight back down from 231 highest with prednisone and now 227 so slowly..... coming back down. Took a me day today. Ignored every one and had my nails done, shopped, walked. WTG ladies on your weight losses. I am staying tuned into my program, No cheating ! I love the bread I made and it does not raise mg BG but it is not keto and I crave more so may not make it again or may freeze it so that I eat it less often.

Oh no, Heather - I hope you were able to save the soup! I would love a bowl right this minute. Instead I am drinking a meal replacement drink for supper.

I'm doing good today, now if I can start a streak, I'll be happy. Tomorrow is Ladies Lunch Out but I don't know where we are going this month.

Sharon....I made Zona's soup today to use some tomorrow after line dancing....
Forgot it on simmer and it simmered dry!
Think I saved enough of the ingredients not burned to the bottom....added more chicken broth and going to try that tomorrow....

PS....MY weekend eating wise...was terrible....it never pays me to be with family! emoticon

Made chicken meatloaf muffins to have with my roasted veggies tonight....

I did OK with the Shrimp Boil but ate 3 desserts - my bad!

So yesterday I was much better with the Super Bowl snacks. After the half time show, I came home so I wouldn't eat anything more. I enjoyed the half time show but we had no children. I am afraid it wasn't very family friendly.
