TC, bright line eating isn't keto, I really couldn't do that. Stevia isn't on plan because it works on the brain in the same way as sugar and the is to heal the brain. It appears to help diabetics tremendously. Read/listen to the book it explains so much.

Good afternoon Today is a rest day I am poohed we cleaned out the hall closet yesterday and reorganized it boy what a job lots of moving bending and my back is feeling it today It took us about 3+ hours .

To tired to fix supper so we went to Penn Station and got a small 6 inch Smoked ham, oven-roasted turkey breast, thick-cut smoked bacon, Swiss, it was good only around 650 calories & we both said no to the fries but yes to soda which is our down fall.

Heather I have 2 days no exercise on the yearly paper .

Sharon you did good and stopped at one cookie and thats a good thing can't deprive yourself of a treat every now and then.

I want to do today but my body is saying stop!!

I believe in calories in calories out , watch portions and keep moving . I think working in the school kitchen gave me insight on measurements & are helping in the portion part.

Going to go have a great day

Pat, Iím trying to eat my largest meal between 11 and noon, and call it brunch, then eat salad or soup for dinner. Herb tea and lemon water are my friends, lol.

TC, The $20 challenge at work would motivate me - Iím too cheap to want to lose money. emoticon

I gained since our challenge ended and have been beating myself up. BLC42 started yesterday so I re-set my goals, did some cardio, tracked, and stayed in calorie range. Iím going to do my best to stay off the scale until Saturday. emoticon

My head's getting to the right place, slowly. If I continue to lose 0.4 lbs/week I'll be happy.

I have some direct experience with someone (not me but a friend of mine at work) who did a doctor supervised liquid fast and shrunk big time. She was gorgeous. But she gained most of the weight back. Then she did the gastric band thing, and lost tons, and gained it back. She's still gorgeous, just in a different way.

I might do better if my hubby weren't around (Heaven forbid!) but he can eat what he likes. And do just fine. Right now I'm trying to eat just in an 8 hour window, which doesn't include a traditional breakfast. I've never been a breakfast eater - my mom had to force me! So, I eat between 1 and 8.

I have to keep reminding myself of my 'slogans' on my posts; I'm not that person anymore, and I am (trying to be) stronger than the food.

Love you guys!

Heather - I still don't have my head into the game of losing. I am not eating out of control any more, I just don't want to deprive myself of enjoying what everyone else is eating! Like last night at Bingo, one of the guys at our table made home made peanut butter cookies. Everyone was eating like 3-4 cookies and I wanted one too. Some times I feel sorry for myself that I can't eat like everyone else. So, I ate a cookie!

I haven't stepped on the scale for a few days so I don't know for sure but I don't feel like I'm gaining. I'm wearing a pair of size 14 capris today and they still fit.

How is everyone doing with Brenda's visual Exercise chart? So far I have colored all days except the 5th ( Sunday ) I never do well with exercise on the weekends....even though Sparks says I did 59 workout minutes. HUH? Must be counting my trips up and down the stairs for my washing/drying/ changing bed / back down to get clothes to fold ... emoticon because the rest f the time Alex and I did some movie marathoning....so I felt I had not done any intentional exercising!

If you zoom this a wee bit you can see it better...

In marking some of the dates ahead for February....I noticed no Feb 29th...and it is a Leap Year this year. So I just divided the 24th in half and added 29 there... emoticon .

Well, finally checking in. Back up 4 lbs and it is because I am tired, angry, and just tired of the routines of tracking, exercise (which I hate), and not being able to eat what I want when I want it w/o it affecting my health poorly. I am achy all the time. I am tired of seeing carbs every where I look at home, at work, on billboards, etc !!! I am just overeating. Still low carb.

This challenge is in my head. I need a brain transplant... LOL !!! It always has been in my head. I want comfort foods. Now, if I go on a bender like Heather, I do not have the willpower to stop. I keep going... & going... & going. Today may be better calorie wise as my stomach is flipping big time. I am being consistent in my exercise but need to add ST back in Ö again. Work is starting a weight loss challenge Jan 15 and it cost $20. I may be wasting my money but at least I have support at work and maybe they will have less junk lying around at work. I know I will not win the pot but if I lose anything I will be winning.

Heather, bright line sounds like keto or whole food eating. I assume stevia is allowed since it is a plant but I have not read the book. Tessa, I hope this helps you reach your goals.

I lost this thread for some reason!

Everyone at work is watching what we eat so all the snacks are healthy. But Iím sticking to one 100 calorie snack per day. Iím eating my largest amount of calories at noon. Also, portion control is working.

Now Iím going back & read the posts! Keep up the good work!

emoticon for those articles Marianne. They are both good reads~~
I am never impressed though with articles that say~~NEVER skip breakfast~~
I love breakfast foods but can never stomach food before 11 AM in the morning ( or sometimes later )
I do have 3 meals a day...Brunch / Dinner / Bedtime for a total of 1200 calories~~

To me it does not matter when I eat those calories as long as I do not go over them in a 24 hour period~~
Here is an article that does not totally disagree that it is better to eat breakfast But also supports my side ~~ emoticon

www.healthline.com/nutrition
/is-skippi
ng-breakfast-bad#section3

As for the fast....I think I will be wasting my money~~because in reading your articles~~I agree that after that long of a fast that I will probably eat like a little piggy for the next few days to make up for what I did not eat during the fast.
AND I am not much in favour of liquids and vitamins replacing food. I LOVE eating and drinking proteins etc....really does not appeal to me...

SO probably I will not do the fast full of bone broth/ booster drinks/ keto drinks and vitamins~~

Heather, before I found Spark, I used to do long fasts with nutritional supplements and liquids. They worked in the short term but left me hungrier than before, so I tended to make up the eating I missed, plus some. You might consider a bit of research on a 60 hour fast. This article reminds me of why I aim for 3 healthy meals a day, and try for an intermittent fasting window of 12-14 hours a day.

However, hereís a five year old article based on a scientific study that discusses benefits of long-term fasting.

Brenda~~I always love your visuals! Thanks again for any and all of them!

Sharon~~LOL...you need to get back here and read Brenda's visuals~~ they say it all for when we lose our way!~~

I must be the weirdest person I know~~LOL~~~Once I made up my mind to emoticon all the foolish eating...I just did it~~
For me...it is wondering why I let myself go in the first place! I need to really think about that one~~ Because once I go back to healthy eating ....I love what I am eating and I love cooking...( versus getting take out ) AND best of all I am not hungry!!

SO~??? WHY??? do I fall off the wagon and gain weight back???

A friend of mine is going to have a group of women who want to get a fast start at weight loss~~Do a 60 hour fast~~She wants me to join them....
I am going to think hard on that one~~
It will cost me over $100 dollars.....is it worth it? I am wondering~~
Apparently the * fast* includes vitamin pills...ketosis drinks....tea/coffee and a booster drink of some kind. Nothing that will harm me but will it work? emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I can't seem to get back to healthy eating. Every morning I start out fine but by noon I've blown it.

All I can add to the conversation is, the less I eat sugar or flour, my cravings go away and so does my hunger. The problem for me is talking myself into eating less!

Heather , you need to read the book. It explains a lot about how our brains work, how sugar and flour feed our food addiction.
I've found some meals that work for me. I find I'm not hungry. no need to count calories. I'm probably not 100% complaint but close enough and the weight is coming off without effort. She says no exercise (but remain active or doing what you usually do), I'm continuing my normal exercise routine.
It's worth a try but read the book first.

Tessa? Are you really going to try that Bright Line Eating?
No way could I eliminate ALL sugars except those in fresh fruits PLUS no artificial sweetners of any kind...AND eliminate ALL flours and flour products!
Plus no way could I guarentee myself that I could stick to 3 meals a day with no snacking!

Did not read everything when I went to look but seems like this WOE is excessively strict and would not be sustainable for the average person like myself.

Think I will stick to just not going over 1200 calories a day! Or stick to my WW program which allows ALL foods as long as you stick to the points they give you!
Totally eliminating all sugar / sweetners / and any flour products would never be something I could do.....not even for a week.....

If you try this Tessa.....I would love to know how you do with it. Just the fact I would have to read every label for all this different sugar by products would be way too daunting for me emoticon emoticon emoticon
But then again....I have no patience either..... emoticon

If we isn't working for you I'd suggest trying bright line eating just for a week. Or read their Facebook page (plenty of you tube talks too) . If you're interested read the book and try it, it really does seem to work.

Sharon.....I think I am wasting my time with WW's too....when I do track....I keep checking all my calories ....SO may as well just go back to counting calories!
I don't think you should go back to strict keto though. You are right enough about how quick that weight comes back on he minute you eat a few carbs .....
My sister is doing great on WW's online and doing very well....WW's has always been her go to for weight loss!

emoticon Sharon.....I was not on keto....
SO cannot even blame it on coming off keto..... emoticon

I was on Blue WW's like you.....I just got way too piggy as my picture says! Alex gained 7.8 since last Saturday....
So we both have said......enough is enough!

Brenda.....don't think it is the scales.....you would have to have been here to see how piggy I was!
Could not keep my mouth closed longer than 10 mins without eating something! emoticon

Heather - WTH! It just shows how quickly we can get off track. Just remember when you go off Keto, most people have a large weight gain. That is the #1 argument for not eating Keto and why they promote it as a lifestyle change. I am sorry but I know you are angry enough to be good this week.

I am up 3.2 lbs since last Sat. I am also upset! We work so hard to lose and the minute we relax, our weight jumps back up.

By no one else's fault but my own emoticon emoticon ( cannot even blame the scales on this one emoticon )
I have gone from 169.8 emoticon to 185.2 emoticon just in a week! UP a whopping 15.4 lbs emoticon

But as of today that foolishness will be finished!

Starting today I am back up on the wagon....

BUT

To being the only person I know who can gain 15.4 pounds in one week ....no matter how unhealthy I was eating!

I am sorry to say I have not lost anything since our challenge, in fact I may be up a couple lbs!

I just need to get back to tracking. I start out good every morning and by evening I've blown it.

December 31 wasn't great, January 1 was a little better, and I'm track on the 2nd. Now I just have to get used to writing 2020 on checks, etc.Tomorrow I finally get back to yoga. Today I'll do my PT exercises and a Coach Nicole video or 2; they're usually short. I have to tote boxes up and downstairs to put away Christmas things, and they're heavy.

Good luck and healthy eating everyone!

Yesterday I was going to get back on track. Instead, we went to a Chinese Buffet for dinner! So today is the beginning for me once again. I am back to counting WW points. I have not been counting for the last couple weeks so I decided if I'm paying for digital WW's, I better start using it.

I was doing so well until the run up to Christmas when I spent a lot of time in the kitchen too close to food!
I've come home from visiting family a couple of pounds down but once we've finished the Christmas treats I'm going back to the bright line eating plan. It really works for me.
We did get a good walk and a new years day parkrun on while we were away!

Brenda, headphones saved our marriage, LOL. Pete, like Mike, stays up very late either watching tv or on the computer. We have a very small house; he has to turn the volume off and wear headphones. Fortunately he rarely wakes me up when he does turn in. And yep, Pete does nap in his recliner. emoticon

We play music most of the day, until the 5:00 news we both watch. If Pete wants to watch daytime tv, the headphones go on his head. The music keeps me moving and I donít want to get sucked into too much television. Itís been a good compromise.

Oh Marianne I turn out the lights off at 10;30 BUT someone, Mike stays up till 12 -1 on the computer or watching TV It drives me nuts then he sleeps in till 9 or after .. I have had a schedule since I took early retirement and he has blow it out the window . I have talked to him about it about it hasn't helped he also take a nap during the news hour
SMH I am so sick of hearing all the love it or list it show & all the shows like that all day long .

I am going to try to get exercise in every day and use the accountability page I found .
watch portions and just enjoy life the best I can .

My goals for the next 3 months:

1. Eat in calorie range every day, and track, using Sparkís nutrition tracker.
2. Lights out at 10 PM, to ensure 7-8 hours of sleep.
3. Exercise 30 minutes daily. Routine of yoga, PT exercises for hip, cardio, ST and daily walking.
4. Write in journal 3x per week.

Tracking what I eat, and paying attention to protein, is an important focus for me.

I too 'fell off the wagon' on Saturday. Did much better yesterday and today. I hope to hang onto healthy thinking in 2020

Maybe I can do better once I adjust to the new way of eating and actually lose some weight, not just lumbering along. The majority of the products I am trying are white rice flours and brown rice flours as main ingredients. Guess this is a great place to try to figure out lots of things. Good follow up!!

I worked really hard in the last challenge to NOT gain ....thus to get ALL the points for my team plus worked extra hard to get the extra points at the start....and for the weigh in after YOUR Thanksgiving ( sort of had an unfair advantage for those points emoticon ) and was pushing hard for the extra points on the last weigh in for earning all the other points!

HOWEVER! ......I have let go big time since Saturday's weigh in....because I just felt I needed to have a break-~~~
I know because of what I am doing that I will NOT be starting 2020 in the 160's but after the next weigh in on January 4th....I will be throwing out all junky foods....and going back to my regular meal routines!

Thanks for this thread Sharon ....I will be very accountable with my whopper increase I expect next Saturday.....but will getting back to normal from that point on.... emoticon

This is a good place to journal your feelings and share with us what you would like to accomplish in January 2020, along with weekly accountability.

Personally, I have 6 lbs to go to get back under 200. I am going to work on that for the month of January!
