Good Morning to all!

Well...I didn't do the greatest yesterday with food..but I didn't do horrific either. Today..going forward. I saw a post on FB about the next 3 months and how you can thank yourself. Of course..this said Feb 1st.....to April 1st...but thinking mine will be Feb 3rd! to April 3rd.

I hope you all had a good weekend and fun. Not sure who wanted Who to win or care..but ...hope the day/night was still good for you.

Carol...I ......have teeth issues and do not have insurance. what I do have...the Dentist is a barter system. We do all their dry cleaning and keep a tab going and that pays for my teeth. Good thing. We won't go there.....but trust me...when I say....I have teeth issues...more than my share for sure.

TC hang in there with work!

Like Carol...we have had nice weather. Today..I think it will be close to 45...that is unheard of this time of year. We also have not really had that much snow for Winter either. Scares me...what will the rest of the season bring?

Okay...off I go. Need to get stuff done...like make my smoothie and pack my food..shower ..and...off to work. Sigh

Wishing all a good day!

Tessa, emoticon on your journey downward. Yuck to the commute times.

TC, what idiot came up with that work schedule??? Why is it that there's all this science on rotating shift work schedules, and admin never follows it?! Good luck, and I wouldn't blame you if you started downing benzo's. Don't do it, but I wouldn't blame you. emoticon

Sharon, I wonder how much sodium was in that loaded potato? Seems you've mentioned in the past that your bod is sensitive to it. Sounds yummy, but...

Heather, emoticon . We all know what we need to do, it's the doing that's hard! How's your snow? We;re supposed to have a 40 degree day today, way warm for ND in February. I'm hoping the compacted snow on our street will melt, so I don't have to drive over slippery, 6 inch tall ridges.

Mary, do you have dental insurance? I dropped mine as I usually don't have anything but cleanings to do, but my dentist says I grind my teeth so I'm saving up for a couple of crowns. Hurray for your improvement.

Marianne, hope you're having fun.

Brenda, I like your most recent saying, too. Maybe I should get one of those bracelets that says "She believed she could, so she did."

emoticon

emoticon Heather, Tessa, Mary and anyone else pleased with their progress.

My weight is about the same, according to RV scale I brought with us, but I’ll know for sure when I get home Monday. I’ve been keeping track of daily calories and stayed in decent range all week except for one day when we went to the brewery. emoticon

Tomorrow’s Super Bowl party could be a minefield, lol, so I have to plan ahead. We’re meeting my former SIL for lunch today but there are good salads at that particular restaurant.

Looks like the rest of you had a good week but not me! My weight is still up this morning and I actually gained 2 lbs this week. My bad!

Today is our Shrimp Boil and hopefully that won't be too bad. It's the desserts that are bad but I'm determined I don't deserve to eat any!

Down 2.2 this morning!

Mary....nice loss my friend.....I do not care what amount it is when I get weighed as long as it is not a gain! I gained the last 2 Saturdays ( totally my own fault ) But today it was nice to see those gains gone PLUS 0.2 extra.... emoticon

I'm down 2.2 and lower than I've been in at least 2 years.
My eating is based on bright line eating bit not quite as strict as I probably should be. However it's working for now.
Off to walk parkrun!
Good luck to you all

Morning! I will hate to WI tomorrow as my weight jumped up badly overnight. I think I was overconfident of a loss. We went to a new BBQ restaurant for lunch yesterday and I order the stuffed potato. It was a huge potato, stuffed with butter and creamed corn. It was topped with beef brisket, and cheese. It came with a side of cole slaw and a garlic toast bun. It was so delicious but I only ate 1/2 so thought I'd be OK but like I said, my weight is up this morning. Today I'll be careful and push the water.

I appreciate the support from you all. Mike is in his own little world right now and not much of a sounding board. I am better today. Trying to be patient since mentally she is a kid. I find that so hard to keep that in my brain and the lack of manners chaps my as$ because I was raised very differently (Thanks MOM !!).

Tessa, I hope you are having minimal pain from the break & pin. Too bad you have a long commute Are you still following your bright line ?

Mary, I do not envy the construction you will have and then when it impacts the business, that really stinks ! Great job getting your steps.

Marianne, Sounds like you have a lot of fun planned. I envy you.

Work changed my schedule so work 1, off 1, work 1 in future which I hate because I barely get rest, get nothing accomplished for day, then back to work. UGH. Harder to plan and cook meals that way also and get P.T. exercising done.

Mary.....I just find that tracking on WW or Sparks is too time consuming for me...Calories I can do in my head....I do measure & weigh with my calorie counting though.....Find guessing never works for me.

Made a Spark recipe yesterday for low fat Turkey Meatloaf. I use ground chicken though. And used a muffin tin instead of a loaf pan ....And used Egg Beaters instead of whole eggs.
Each muffin was 121 calories.
Alex liked them too!

This week on our RV club outing I’ve been tracking all food and really resisting second helpings, desserts and most alcohol. Lots of walking but not much other exercise. Hopeful that tomorrow’s weigh-in will be ok.

Tessa, the bus trip sounds like quite an ordeal with broken wrist and backpack. Good luck.

Good Morning to all!

Tessa...oh ouch....that would be hard. I am so sorry. Greg is not going to get his operation just yet after all....he won't be able to work once this is done for a bit. So...going to go for it in the Summer...we are slow then...and...will be even more so..with the construction. They are finishing up our area this year. I will be glad when that is done too...very...very...complex.

TC...it is okay to be angry and you need to vent.....so you can be sane. I am not on speed what is going on...so ...I cannot even say much...so...what I can say.....you can vent and I hope it gets better.

Carol...love the saying! I do! Thanks for sharing!

Heather...you need to do what works for you. I was hoping wws was for you...or you for it...but doesn't sound like it. I don't think it is in your comfort zone...and....calories seem to be your comfort zone. Before your subscription runs out...try it for one more week ..and trust the process. ....and...for me...GREEN is for me. I have tried the others and I am more accountable with GREEN as far as portions are concern...and no ZERO stuff.

Sharon...hope this finds you well!

Marianne ..you too!

Not sure how many others are on here...so.....HOWDY to everyone else!

TC, having kids around can e tough and they seem to know how to press buttons in you without even thinking about it (one of ours was particularly good at this). If you are angry then best to shut up but it ain't easy, I know.

Mary I've broken my wrist so can't help with the carpal tunnel. I'm in plaster and have a pin sticking out somewhere! I'll see it on Tuesday when they change the cast.

I'm taking a bus to work today, carrying all my kit in a back pack. Journey each way will be over an hour (35-40 mins driving)-oh well. Luckily no more sessions here till late feb.
I'm doing OK eating and hoping my weigh in tomorrow is the same as today.

Carol, how appropriate ! I like that mentality. Good way to look to look at the positive instead of being negative.

I am angry today. Just plain angry. I was trying to get the estimate for the mold in the house and kid butted in with her giggles and saying what ever was on her mind. I think she thought the guy was cute. I had the dogs locked up, guess I should have had the kid locked up too ? Never did get an estimate. He did not want to check mold since it is now dry (spreads easier when dry) so not sure about that ?! He will send someone over to give an estimate to fix basement stairs which are warped.

Then she askes me if I am going to cook something today. There are still 5 frozen dinners in freezer, frozen homemade tamales, 5 freshly made dinners in fridge. Chaps my as$ big time !!!!!

I come home tired as hell, all I want is to wash my work dishes and go to bed. She comes running down when I walk thru the door to wash her dishes only and I wait holding my tongue but barely. It is the little things driving me nuts. I started drinking at 3 and I may not stop. She has all frickin day to wash her dishes, to socialize on the phone, etc. I have no patience.

Oh, so sorry. Like I said, I am angry. I do not want to hurt her to where she thinks of harming herself again but I also want to set boundaries and I do not know how w/o going off the deep end and over reacting. She is sensitive.....

TC, I feel for your knees and your prednisone. I remember being on it once (can't remember why) and I was ravenous! I've never seen Lilli's bars? Can you get them in a regular grocery store or do you have to go to a whole-foods type market? Our grocery store carries stevia sweetened soda but it's way expensive; I'd rather buy non-alcoholic beer for 70 calories, it's cheaper! I ate an RX bar for breakfast, dates are the sweetener. They're expensive, too, so I just get them occasionally. 12 g protein.

I printed out an inspiration/reminder yesterday and taped it onto my bathroom mirror: "I'm not that person anymore". It means I'm not going to put off for tomorrow the healthy eating I can do today. Struggle, struggle, struggle.

Sharon....
You should switch to green on WW's
You get more daily points & less Zero point foods....
I tried blue but it is way harder to follow than the green

My sister joined WW and she is like Mary.....eats the regular fat foods and does not use any artificial sweetened things ( Drs told her to never use sweetners because it would effect her eplipisy meds )

She is doing good with her weight loss.....not spectacular losses like you use to have on LCHF but losses all the same...
She is very happy with WW....she eats ALL her daily points pretty much every day & sometimes some of her bonus points.
My sister says she was told when she went to WW's meetings years ago.....that you *should* eat all your daily points most of the time....

I only stopped tracking on WW's because I kept double checking the calorie counts....just found it took too much time online whereas I can count calories in my head....lol

Mary - Congrats on your dental appointment. I was holding my breath for you. After all the work you went through, I bet you were really happy!

Thanks for talking about WW's with me. Not having done it before, I was trying to stick below the 23 daily points. I will have to rethink and see if I can do OK with regular full fat items even if I have to pull from my reserve points.

Tessa - not being able to use your injured hand is hard. Even the easiest tasks like shampooing and drying your hair take on a whole new meaning. My heart goes out to you.

TC - predizone is a hard drug to take. Most common side effect is weight gain. I went through 2 rounds of it with my bronchitis and it was a struggle. My heart goes out to you as well.

Exercise was good this morning! Now I get to go get my hair cut. My last cut was horrible so I waited an extra couple of weeks so it is nicely grown out so I can get a better cut (I hope, I hope!)

Happy Wednesday to all!

Oh TC....I am so sorry you are in so much pain. I feel bad for you. I wished I could help. YAY YOU on being the strong person you are!

Tessa...littile late here in the game for me...do you have carop tunnel? I am asking for my husband is getting that operation FEb 17th and I am worried on what he can do at work or not. I know I sound heartless..but it is only the 2 of us at the cleaners..and this scares me.

I hope to get some steps/miles in today. Monday and Tuesday are my low days....today..depending how busy I am or not.

The dentist went well yesterday and do not have to go back till my next cleaning. This is huge progress for me for those that may remember my teeth history! LOL! My gums are getting stronger too!

Okay..wishing you all a good one.

I am weighing in with you all on Saturday.

5 mile walk today (to visit my mother, take her for a walk then home again).
Tomorrow I'm looking after the youngest GK, he's just 3 but enjoys playing quietly so hoping I manage OK!
I'm back working this week, DH had to take me and bring me home on Monday, Friday it will be a long bus ride.
I'm finding ways of doing most things with one hand but everything takes longer!
Eating is going OK and weight slightly down from the weekend.

Well, I was hoping the prednisone would not affect my weight much but I am back to 229 this morning after 5 days of 50 mg's. Knees are a bit better until the prednisone wears off. Drinking water & coffee this morning. Trying to do the P.T. exercises twice daily yet and get my steps. I joined Mary & Heather in the 100 steps... Yay ! Still eating very low carb.

Good Morning to all!

YAY Marianne! Sounds like a Fab plan ...you have this! Wait...did you have a beverage? emoticon

Sharon... I do not do fatfree or low gat nothing...I only do real stuff. I just count the points. I know this...I am now also....logging my food on sparks again. I want the breakdown to see what areas I truly need to work on. Sort of freaks me out. Today...I logged my food...30 points on wws...and 1437 in calories..and wondering if that is too high. yet...says I still could use 137 in calories and fitness is not added in yet. I am seriously trying to figure it out.

Howdy to TC and Carol! Hope this day goes well! I also agree on the sugar factor!

Hi Heather! YAY you on making 100 miles so far this year! PROUD OF YOU!

Wishing all a good day. Not going to weight watchers today...have a dental appt...egads..hate that...a cleaning. Hope all is well!

Mary - I am still paying to do the Digital WW's but I am not following it very well. I start out good in the morning and by noon I've usually blown it. I will continue to pay for the next couple of months until we go home. Then I will either attend meetings with my DD or stop completely. As I have stated before, with the low fat WW's I don't get satisfied and feel hungry. Not to mention the food doesn't taste as good with low fat products like cheese, sour cream and butter substitutes. So I'm not doing well with WW's.

Yes, happy to back on the bus! We’re away from home all week so I have to be super careful.

Yesterday I had one grilled fish taco for lunch and tortilla soup for dinner. Breakfasts all week will be my usual oatmeal with yogurt and berries. I brought boxed organic soups for lunches when we don’t go out. Eating lightly today since all 30 of our RV club members are going out to dinner. It’s a restaurant I know so as long as I skip the alcohol and dessert I’ll be fine. emoticon

I also brought a scale and am checking myself daily.

Good Morning to you all!

So Sharon and Heather ...are you done with ww? I am still trying...but back to the Green plan. Blue was the same and purple I kept on gaining...so...Green is more like calories and everything counts but veggies and fruits. With fruit...I try to not have more than 2..but in the Summer..I tend to do more.

I too have been struggling lately....but really trying to focus myself. I will say this..I have been walking a lot and that has helped.

Addictions...I understand. Smoking was the hardest for me to quit. It took me years to do so. I promised myself...this time...NOT ONE MORE PUFF...for once i do...will be a smoker again and it will take months or years to quit again.

That can be the same for food ...and drink!

I am wishing all a good day!

Today's food ...shall be good...like everything I am having!

Smoothie and fruit for BK..

Michigan salad for lunch

Dinner is stuffed chicken breasts, small potato...and veggies.

Snacks today...fruit

WISHING ALL A GOOD DAY!

DRINK YOUR emoticon

I had a good day today. Meal replacement bar with coffee for breakfast. For dinner, Norm and I split a pork steak. I baked a potato which we split and had frozen peas with itl. I am drinking a coffee with Slim Fast Keto Fudge Brownie meal replacement powder in it. My calories and macros are good for today! One day at a time!

My eating was good but I only got 2,000 steps in so I will be ready for my exercise class in the morning!

Carol, have you tried the lillys chocolate bars made with stevia. They are amazing ! Stevia is a plant not chemical. I hate stevia but I like those bars. pricey though. 2 servings for $5 in 1 bar. Many flavors.

I am happy to see you all getting back on my bus. LOL !! Party time. I will get Mike to start the fire emoticon and every one can post their menu plans for week, eh ?! I will start. I made chicken with a cream base, sun dried tomatoes, spinach. Tastes amazing. Also made SF BBQ chicken and pork loin with creamed spinach & I still have my taco casserole left. Also made egg salad for work dinners since we never get time to eat.

Prednisone 50 mg for 2 days so far has probably contributed to my 1 lb gain plus with this knee pain (7) on my scale of 1-10, I am moving much slower. I am pushing fluids so hoping for my own whoosh soon... LOL !

Tessa, happy to hear the brightline is working for you so far !

Heather, I hope you are finding it easier to get back to your original diet that worked for you & I sent some support to Alex and I hope he is getting back on the bus with us. At least if we are miserable, we have company... LOL !!

Working tomorrow and mornings are real rough right now. Worst pain then and bedtime after walking 13-17K steps at work. Knees swell up but not much and get warm but not red. I am doing the PT exercises they have our arthroplasty patients do.

This sugar discussion certainly rings true! Artificial sweeteners are often high in FODMAPs, so can't use those or I blow up like the Goodyear Blimp. The more concentrated the sugar, the worse it is for me. I can control myself with 72% or greater dark chocolate. Despite me asking my DH not to, he'll probably get me Valentines candy. Maybe if I explain it to him with the alcoholic comparison, he'll get it.

I like good bread, but I'm not likely to stuff myself with it.

The fight goes on!

Tessa....YUP! Alex knows his sugar addiction is the same as an alcoholic or a smoker.....
As I said.....he made it by refusing ALL sugars x those 2 years....
And giving in for ONE piece o chocolate at Christmas....set him off on this binge.

I was *jokingly* tellng him .....That I was going to have ONE cigarette emoticon emoticon .....NOT!

You wouldn't give an alcoholic alcohol.. if you are addicted to sugar you don't go near it (or its artificial alternatives). Easier said than done though. I have found all the science side of bright line eating very interesting...

Sharon...... I do not indulge in sugars. My body seems to have an aversion to excessively sweet things and I get very nauseated and a sick feeling. BUT give me simple carbs & fats and on goes the weight! emoticon
Alex on the other hand gains b/c of sugars!

Tessa.....Alex had his sugar addiction under control for over 2 years. He blew that streak this Christmas past and is now paying for it.....he is having a real hard time to stop them again!

Heather - once you let go and eat the sugar/carbs, it's almost like your body is craving them and you can't be satisfied. The only way I know is to go back to little to no carbs or sugar. But it is so difficult to discipline yourself once you have enjoyed them again. At least that is my problem! I am still struggling with the sugar cravings.

You and Alex have come too far to gain back. The older we get the harder it is to lose it over again! Be strong and don't let your cravings win!

Tessa - in Keto terms, we say you had a visit from the Whoosh Fairy. I am glad she came to visit you.

Heather - I am sorry you are up this week. Is Alex gaining weight too?

I am pretty happy with my WI this morning. I am down 1 lb from last Saturday. I am not down to the ending weight of the last challenge but the last two weeks, the scale is going in the right direction.

Today we are going to the Welcome Winter Texans. It's a huge party and I'm sure there will be some foods to sample. Then we are going with our friends out to eat at Mickey's Bar & Grill. They have been and enjoyed it so much, they can't wait to take us there. So another restaurant to maneuver without gaining! I looked at their menu on line so I already know what I intend to order!

I've had a big whoosh this morning. Now wondering if the anaesthetic drugs or post op pain killers affected my weight, maybe slowing my gut? Anyway I'm happy

I'm trying to eat well. My weight has been going up (despite missing lunch on Wednesday before my op)
I am having difficulty prepping some things, DH helps when he is here but I'm trying hard to be independent.

emoticon Mary!

I told Norm I was done with restaurants for the week! So we are having a steak and salad at home today. He did tell me that he agreed to go out to dinner tomorrow night with our friends. Oh well, I have one day reprieve.

One question - where's the bus stop to get aboard?

Good Afternoon!

Ladies Lunch Out today but I tried to be good. I had 1/2 sandwich and one trip to the salad bar. It's the eating out that's killing me but I go for the social part of it.

Review of Dr Doolittle movie: It was cute! Nothing like I anticipated but then I don't really know what I was expecting. It is definitely a good children's movie but we enjoyed it. It was a nice afternoon break from the rain.

Although when we went to Lowe's to get a window shade, I opened the door and stepping into a 4" deep puddle. I swung my feet around and both feet hit at the same time! My shoes and socks were soaked. I ended up sitting through the whole movie with wet feet. I was really glad to get home and get my warm, cozie slippers on.

Heather is right about British driving licensing. We have a manual car and at the moment I don't want to do anything with that hand. Surgery has left it more sore (but manageable with over the counter drugs).
I'm told it's called a Bartons fracture here, The break is right by the joint so they want to be sure it'll work in the future. Thankful for our free at the point of use health service. I think the wire may be sticking out somewhere (under the plaster) because it will be pulled out when the plaster comes off.

Carol.....even hubby is not sure why I could only transfer to automatic gears without taking a test.
You know how in North America we go for a driving test and it does not matter whether we take the test with an automatic or a manual? In Great Britian .....if you take your test with an automatic vehicle .....you are issued a license for automatic ONLY written on it.
But if you take your test on a manual....you are issued a license for both.
Weird but True emoticon

Brenda.....no fears! The cigs are a thing of the past....
