My March UFO was to "quilt something", an old top, etc. Still have time today to get to it but I'm off onto other projects. Not into quilting at the moment. I hope to have a productive day in the sewing room. Cleaning up would be a good first step. Carol

I didn't have a specific UFO for March like some of you did, but I have been working on a BOM from 2009 (!). I finished the 8 4-1/2" saw tooth stars each for May, June and July, as well as the 4 6-1/2" stars each for June and July. I'm ready to start stitching on the stars for August, and have the fabric cut for the September stars. I'll continue this BOM quilt as my UFO into April and beyond. I want to get this top finished.

Wrapping up March, and happy. I set small goals and completed them plus more. Yay! For me, it's more satisfying and reinforcing to set reasonable goals and exceed them than to set impossible goals and feel like a failure.

Can I just post what I want to get done or work on in March here?

1. On Ringo Lake (finish clues 5, 6, and 7) (about ~ 400 pieces) Worked on but not finished.
2. Hannah's graduation quilt, finish cutting emoticon almost.
3.Have Doug quilt staycation and then I'll bind. emoticon
4. Hawaiian star (piece the NY beauty pieces) (8 sections with 24 or so seams) 6 seams for all 8 sections. Will still try to finish by Saturday.
5. 2015 BOM applique and then borders, quilt and bind (due April 9th, if possible.) This was a quilt designed by Nancy Rink and she is talking at our guild that night. I want to be able to have show and tell for her quilt! emoticon for piecing, needs to be quilted.
6. If time permits, make soup cozies for the kids for last Chanukah presents. (3 kids, 2 bowls each?) emoticon

We started a box round robin at guild. Each month you bring home a box with fabrics in it from another quilter and you make the same block for each quilter. Got mine yesterday and already have the pieces cut for my house so add that to the zippy bag I have to finish today. Those two things will be done today. CArol

I haven't even stated my March UFO yet, still working on Feb's. But I did take the needle bar thread guide off and gave it a good buffing. Didn't have a single top thread break today, so perhaps I have solved that problem.

I've been working on a UFO from 2009. It is a BOM from The Quilt Show and I had ordered the fabric kit. I downloaded the blocks each month back then. Luckily I had printed everything. Back then I completed all the blocks for January through April, and most of May's. So far I finished the 8 sawtooth stars to complete May, the 8 sawtooth stars and 4 stars from June, and have finished 3 of the 4 stars from July. The star blocks have a lot of HSTs which finish at 1" and are made using a paper pattern. The sawtooth stars will finish at 4" and the other stars will finish at 6".

UFO update:

1. Staycation is half bound.
2. Applique for Amish with a twist, have 1/4 done plus 3 other pieces. Will try to work on some this evening.
3. Will work on cutting pieces for Hannah's graduation quilt tomorrow before school open house. But also want to get grading done so that once it is done, it is done and I can work on quilting guilt free.
4. ORL need to trim some pieces before I continue.

Have a game plan (maybe, best laid plans and all) for projects for spring break that starts Friday!

I was very good and took small quilts with me to blind stitch the bindings while I was in Norway. It seemed particularly appropriate somehow. I succeeded in completing the binding on both small quilts, and now I'm working on the final border of the purple quilt, having FINALLY figured out how to finish it! I feel like I'm making good progress!

So I worked on more neutral/brown flying geese for On Ringo Lake. I also traced the 48 pieces of the 2015 appliqued borders. All are cut out and and paired. I sewed one stem (out of four), 5 leaves (out of 24), 2 flowers (out of 12) and all centers are ironed on but not stitched down. I also cut more of Hannah's quilt. The staycation is quilted and binding machine stitched on one side. Need to make a label before stitching down.

So some progress.

March I am traveling for 11 days and have company for 4 days, so that is 15 days of the month.
I still have the Table Runner, Tropical Noel and now the Double Wedding Star to finish and a quilt for church!

I must start a baby quilt and have it done by May 6th, so that is top on the list just now.
Then it will be the Double Wedding Star
Tropical Noel
Table Runner

The AP&Q challenge # for March is number 3! Appropriate for the third month of the year. Whoo HOO! My # 3 is listed as "quilt one". Meaning drag an old top out of the cupbboard and get it quilted and bound and finished! I can do this when I get back. I had already selected one previously to get to it. So excited! Carol

No it is STILL FEBRUARY.....DON'T RUSH IT. We still have about 6 more hours to finish up UFO'S. LOL

My list remains the same except I need to add that QuiltWorx Double Wedding Star to the mix.

I need to make a baby quilt for a friend who asked me to make on and get paid for it. So that is moving to the front burner tonight.

So many quilts.....so little time!
