Well gang, I was tracking as best I could but it was not online. Just spent the last hour or so putting it all online.. Still way over on my calorie range etc.. this week I will do better! Between soccer and kids activities I just haven't had a spare moment to get online! So hope everyone is doing well. I hope week 2 is a good one for everyone!

I went to see my dietitian today and I have lost the weight I put back on plus 2 lbs more. which has brought my weight down from 304.4 to 296.4 emoticon I'm so thrilled to be apart of this team. Thanks

i may have still went over but only by 49 thats ok with me cause i was 956 cals over on monday and i have worked it down todays mini goal for me is i WILL meet everyone of my goals and i feel alot better about myself about seeing and controling what i'm eating you guys were right keeping track really helps who would have figured doing that pain in the butt system of tracking would help so much

I tracked what I could yesterday. Have everything in my tracker for today already. Will add snacks as I eat them (if I decide to!) Providing I stay strong the rest of the day, I'll definitely be within my range - and on the lower end. We'll see how it goes.

Day 1...wrote down what I ate to add to the nutrition tracker later
Day 2...still writing down what I eat...and still trying to find some time to start exercising without giving up any sleep time.
Day 3...Just starting but finally got to sit down and copy the first two days of food in the tracker...banged head on desk several times after seeing my totals (does that count as exercise?)
Seeing the totals really makes you more aware of where you need to improve.

I was back on track today. I journal my food, instead of using the tracker. My dial-up internet is so darn slow, it takes forever. I stayed on the low side of my calorie range, ate my freggies and drank my water. I must say it is a good feeling. When I managed to ignore tracking my food for week and a half, I knew I was in trouble. I have to track/journal my food, on the same principal you put a leash on a dog, so it can't run into the street. Journalizing my food is my leash.

I have HBP so sodium is a big concern of mine. I usually make sure I drink A LOT of fluids, use other spices/herbs besides salt and when I do use salt I use sea salt. You will be surprised how salty things will become once you stop using "regular" salt.

Didnt track well yesterday but DID track everything today so I feel I've accomplished something. I stayed well within calorie limits but went over on the fat so I'll be watching that alot better in the future.

I didn't feel too well today. I actually got sick while on the job this morning...gross, I'm sorry :( I normally eat within my calorie range, but just didn't have the ambition to eat much of anything. And then when I did eat, my sodium intake went through the roof. If anyone can provide me with a little incentive as to what they intake (meals or snacks) that are low in sodium, that would be awesome! :) Keep up the great work that all of you, my fellow Cherry Bombers, are doing...greatness is in the eye of the beholder! :) emoticon

Checking in.. got my tracking done.. Still over calorie range.. soccer practice with the kids tonight and my asst coach and I ended up playing cuase only had 6 out of 9 show up.. so we got a little exercise and more importantly we were able to work on some skills with the kids! But for the diet.. need to get to the store and get some good veggie munchies.. that will help fill me up so I avoid the junk.

Tracking can be a pain in the patootie - but it is well worth it! Not only are you able to keep track of what you are eating, if you're truly measuring your food, you will be able to start looking at portion sizes and realizing how much they are costing you. In addition, over time, you should be able to do a quick check on where you are in your calorie range over the day because you'll know how much a serving of something is costing you (if it's something you eat fairly consistently). This is just something I've learned over the past 2 years. I've also learned that when I'm in one of my denial stages I don't track my food and that's when I gain.

Thanks Dusty for forcing me back to tracking again!!!! I tracked yesterday and ended up 9 calories over my range. Today will be interesting (and potentially lethal!) as I'm going to a food/product show sponsored by our food supplier. I know I will be tasting some items but hopefully I won't go toooooo overboard! I won't be able to track all of it but I will track my breakfast and dinner.

ok tracked every one of them.. and it wasn't pretty.. boy was I in denial!! I actually figured I didn't need to eat much for dinner cause I had been to Mcdonald's for lunch, but in the end what I picked here and there through out the evening did more damage than the burger I had earlier!

Well tomorrow will be a better day..

Food tracking is a tool I've used from my first day on SP! I'm definitely in! It gives me a weird sense of satisfaction to track what I eat and drink.

@HAZELJEDI: I hear you about getting frustrated with tracking and feeling horrible when you go over. I get that feeling sometimes too. If I am consistently going over (which I have a couple of weeks so far in this 7 month journey) - the tracker helps me understand that maybe I just need more food. I'm not here to punish myself with guilt or add extra stress to my life. That's not what the tracker's for either. I'm here to gain insight into how, what and why I eat. Thus I track.

And just so everyone here knows. So far, every time I've ADDED calories - I've lost weight. Not kidding. Every time I've overtrained with physical activity and then taken time off, I've lost weight. It might not be a lot of weight but who cares? In the end, I'm losing. I'm also saving myself a lot of internal drama (you know - all that negative self-talk we do) and stress. Spending 10 mins tracking is worth it to me to NOT spend 18 waking hrs berating myself. I have better things to do than listen to that voice!

I'm in! I've been feabally tracking daily for awhile but forget occasionally or neglect to track the evening meal. For some reason I lose enthusiasm as the day passes. So, mini challenge...I'm in! Good luck everyone!

I can't stand tracking my food. I hate it. It makes me feel horrible when I see that I went over my daily intake even though I tried as hard as I could.

I used to really resent tracking and get all victimized by it. That was before re-joining SP in Sept 2010. This last time when I joined I told myself this was the last time I was going through all of this so reassess and try to figure out how to make it work. Actually use this weightloss time to TRAIN yourself to see food like a healthy, normal weight person would.

So I promised to track. That one thing is responsible for about 75% of my success so far and has really brought me insight into my own body and health. I am no longer a victim of food tracking. I am a weilder of a powerful tool that has helped me shed 62 lbs so far and still goin' down!

Tips:
--enter every food that comes into your house into your "favorites" when you go shopping.
--enter your favorite recipes into the recipe tracker
--when you get better at all this, start meal planning for a day or two in advance or even a week in advance. This does several things like make you not have to "dwell" on food choices because you already know what you'll be having. Also it will save you money on food bills because you're not buying a bunch of other stuff you don't need. And what you don't buy you can't eat!
--track treats first - that way you know you have them accounted for and they don't need to be "naughty extras" that don't make their way onto the tracker
--make sure you're eating in a healthy calorie range. Deprivation kills the best of intentions. I always up my calorie range if I find myself feeling deprived. Losing less is still better than gaining and feeling guilty and useless all the time.

Think of the tracking as what successful lifestylers do to achieve weight loss - if you've ever spent any time reading success stories - you'll find most of these folks track!

And speaking of tracking - today's my day to meal plan for the week.

This is something I have had a hard time doing, but I am working on it. I've started saying, "If you bite it, you write it." to help me remember. I have this posted on my monitor at work and on my fridge at home. I'm hoping that if i try to say it whenever I want to eat something, it may discourage me from putting something bad in my mouth.
