Yesterday was Day 2 - It was just as hard, and I was slower because my legs just wouldn't move. Difference from first thing in the day to last thing in the day.

I did Day 1 yesterday - it started out OK, but that last 1 minute run was tough. Especially since I was doing it uphill. I'm using the Fitness 22 app as they have suggested complementary programs for toning should I choose.

New to the group and finished week 1 on Friday and must say I'm loving it. I have a 'wall' on my 5ks which is roughly 15 minutes into my run. I just give up. So really looking forward to the point I can get past that and hoping this app is going to get there for me. Can't wait for week 2!

I have to admit that I hate running. No, it goes beyond hate but I know I need to start exercising more and running is something I can do with my husband that does not require a gym membership. I started in on week one and stopped the program several times before starting again a few weeks later. I have big issues with failure and need to train my mind as much as I do my body. In order to create a higher degree of success and bring down my anxiety about failing I downloaded an interval training app and set it to 3 minutes walking and 1 minute running for the first week. After two days I increased it to 2 minutes walking and 1 minute running. I did this for 3 days before starting into c25k week one. It worked and now I am on to week 2. I surprised myself and already see my hatred towards running and my avoidance of it as one that I can overcome. I'm not expecting to become a marathoner but better fitness is within reach.

hi everyone,

I started my couch to 5k training yesterday.... it says to jog for 60 seconds and walk for 90.

that was too much for me....

I did: jogging for 40 seconds and walked for 60... that was much better.

Did W1D1 today! I was scared to attempt this because of my age/weight ... but actually I was able to do it without problem.
I feel great, in addition to being a great exercise, I think this is going to be a powerful antidepressant for me!

Just completed W1D1.

I did this program back in 2011 with great success, lost about 20 lbs. Since then I took a desk job that has me in a chair 9-11 hours a day and am 30lbs heavier than when I started the program last time.

Today was brutal, but the first run is done. On to day two!

I have completed W1D1 and W1D2. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to do it, but I surprised myself. I downloaded the app and turned on Pandora, and before I knew it, the voice said "beginning run 8 of 8." It was a good feeling.

Week 1, Day 1,

I'm more acquainted with the couch than anything else right now so this should prove to be interesting.

I'm starting this program on emoticon Thanksgiving Day.

I am starting my 2nd attempt of C25K! The first time I made it to week 7, which I found out I was pregnant and was put on bed rest. That pretty much ended my workouts. Now that, my pregnancy has grown into an active 2 year old I am back to get in shape! I completed W1D1 yesterday! I am excited to progress through the program again but this time complete it!

I did week 1 day 1 yesterday, much faster than I did it the first time! It is so exciting to see the difference in where I started from where I am now. If only I'd managed to lose a few pounds along the way. That will come with time.

Hi! I'm new to the group and to the c25k program. I did W1D1 Saturday with my bf and we are doing W1D2 today. It was HARD! I haven't ran in more years than I care to admit. Honestly, probably not since I was in middle school emoticon and I didn't run on Saturday, but I did jog and when walking, I hustled! I was so proud of myself for finishing though and I am pumped to go again today. We used the Active Couch to 5k app and I really liked that the 'coach' told me when to jog and when to walk, it kept track of my speed and mileage (1.86miles!!) and even mapped it for me. I'll check back in tomorrow and let everyone know how today went!

Week one DONE! yay!

I feel GREAT that week one is done and I can move on to week two knowing that I CAN do it!

I've used the stopwatch ap to track the time and that seems to be working well, but I'll dig a little deeper into the ap situation this week to see if there's something better. It would be nice to not have to hold the phone in my hand the entire run.

I was doing yoga as my (pretty much) only source of working out until I started the c25k and now I don't have time for yoga. I need to get that figured out so I can do both!

I can't wait to look back at all my progress when I can run 30 minutes straight, but in the meantime I'm pretty proud of myself :-P woohoo!

Spent the rest of last week healing my blisters. So I did w1d1 over today. It was much better since I put the band-aids on the right spots on my feet (I run in Vibram 5 finger barefoot shoes). It can only get better. Now if only the snow would melt before June.

I just restarted w1d1 after recovering from a stress fracture in my foot after 6 months. The foot ached a bit but it was the blisters that hurt. I hate being so out of shape and out of breath on the runs but I know that it will get better as I do each run.

Finished Day 2 tonight. It went much better than Day 1, but that could be due to pent up frustration coming through while out running last time. I am feeling pretty confident. Even told my husband I would like to sign up for a 5K, I personally would love to do a Color Run.

Just got in from Day 1 of Week 1. I was planning to do it this morning, but the husband likes to cuddle. Ha! I also find exercising with him can be like pulling teeth sometimes. However, all said and done, I feel good and not overly exhausted. Actually, I don't feel exhausted at all. Not even winded really. I kept telling myself I am a runner, even if it the first time I have ever really ran. Whatever works!

Yay!! Good for you! Gallbladder attacks are awful, and I can see why you'd have to stop running because of them.

My best friend told me that if I get out there and run, I'm a runner. There's no qualifying speed or distance, and nobody that isn't a jerk is going to tell you you're not a runner.

I hope you're not in the polar vortex; if you are, bundle up out there!! You don't need luck, you've got this! emoticon

I'm starting my week one tonight when my Hubby gets home from work. I'm using the app Couch-to-5k by Active. I'm hoping this is the start of me being a "runner" I was close once in my life about 10 years ago but when the gallbladder attacks started I had to stop :( but better late than never right... Wish me luck

I can understand that! I lucked out and found a pair of New Balance in my size at Goodwill, then found a similar (though more worn) pair of Nikes on my next trip. And then at Target today, I found a couple of decent sports bras in my size on clearance!

If you need accountability, I'm pretty much always here (unless I'm out running, or chasing my son... Ok, so "always" may be stretching it a little, but I definitely check in multiple times per day!). I have a weird mix of accountability for myself: as long as I get in at least 3 runs a week, I count it as a success, no matter how many days are between them. But if I hadn't gotten in my run last night, I wouldn't have been able to get the app I got with a clear conscience.

I look forward to hearing how tomorrow goes!

The main things I definitely wanted to be sure I addressed were good shoes and sports bra. Now that I have them and my husband has deemed himself my running partner (I struggle with accountability), I think I am set for tomorrow. I am excited especially seeing all of the good results people have claimed during and after going through the program.

Ok, cool! I understand the struggle to pay for apps, I'm just excited about this one because I just got it. It's the only paid app I've gotten in about a year. I was using the music-based program from http://www.djsteveboy.com/1day25k.html, which is free and quite good.

My husband is somewhat athletic as well. He does martial arts, and he got really good genes, because it doesn't matter what he eats, he's always wiry. He went running with me last week and took off like a jackrabbit when it was time to run. It was like the tortoise and the hare! As far as your knees, I try to keep my legs a little bent when I run so the impact is absorbed more by the muscles than the joints.

I actually downloaded a really simplistic app. It is C25K Trainer by Syncostyle. I was looking for free, with few bugs and glitches. All I really wanted was something that would not drain my phone battery, continue working when the screen shut off, work with music, and not reset if I had a call or text. From what I read, some of the more popular apps seemed to reset or stop if someone got a call. I like the idea of a zombie one (I'm a bit of a gamer), but I struggle to pay for apps. Besides the app, I printed out the basic schedule/plan from http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/18
1.shtml.

In school, I was the 4-H/FFA girl. I was active, but not in an athletic way. My husband, who is going to do the C25K with me, he was on the swim team and all that jazz. However, he will decide out of the blue to jog a mile and complain for days about the pain because it has been about 6 years since he could actually run a mile. I am worried about running because every time I do exercises with my knees, they make grinding noises. I don't know if it is family health related or not, and I have never bothered to see a doctor. I just have to remind myself to properly stretch and warm-up before and after to prevent injury.

Which program are you using? Just out of curiosity.

I have always hated running, but something clicked this time and I found that when I want to do it instead of some sadistic gym teacher forcing me to run, I really enjoy it! There's something about pushing through my perceived limitations and making my body move the way /I/ want it to that gives me a lot of satisfaction. Plus it's the closest I'll ever come to flying on my own, and the endorphin rush can't be beat!

I have every confidence that you'll do great. If you need more motivation, I just got an app called Zombies 5k, where each run is part survival (run from zombies) and part RPG (collect supplies for your camp). It's a paid app, but not really expensive, and there's lots more missions you can buy.

To give you some background, I have a genetic condition that makes my joints unstable, and I was a band geek, so this running thing is new to me too! (And I apologize if this post seems kind of disjointed, I'm on my phone.)

I am going to be starting W1D1 on Monday. My husband is doing ti with me. I am a little nervous because I have never been much of a runner and avoided sports in school. However, there has always been a small inkling of myself that was interested in running. Also, there are a lot of health benefits. Seeing as there are a few new posts in the group, I may actually post and not feel so on my own.

Anyone still here? I did W1D2 today, and it felt great! Much better when my 6 year old son goes with me, though... he gets bored during the running parts, since he runs faster than I do, so he "shoots bad guys" and "clears a path for me". He makes me laugh, which makes the running parts go by really fast!

My husband went with me today, which was really nice of him, except he runs like a jackrabbit, so he was constantly ahead of me. But I got out there, I got him out there (he hates running, but he did it to support me) and we finished!

So back again! I did run Week 1- but then had 4 or 5 days "off" and didn't make a run- so today I want to do a Week 1 run- with hopes that I will finish it with gusto and be ready to begin Week 2 later this week.

Restarting my C25K since I never finished it. I have completed day 1 and 2 of week 1. Thought it would have been harder than it was, so I was pleased. I am 'running' the Five Feaster on Thanksgiving and would like to run at least part of it. I am doing it with a friend and am not sure if she is preparing for it (she should be). We did an Electric Run in October at Gillette Stadium. I really wanted to run at least part of it but she wasn't able to, so we walked it. I didn't know where I was going and there were so many people I didn't want to leave her (and my 13 yr old daughter) behind. I will have no problem doing that on Thanksgiving. I'll wait for her at the end.

Re-started C25k this week. Just did the first run last night. It was tougher than I remember it being, but also kind of easy at the same time (if that makes sense). Looking forward to the rest of the week and getting this Week 1 done :)

Starting D1 this afternoon. Pretty excited and hopeful that I will be able to do this! I am supposed to be running in my first 5K (the warrior dash) in November and hoping to be a little more fit by that point. What days do you guys usually try to run? Do you just go every other day or certain days during the week?

I just finished day one, and it was kinda tough! I feel worn out. I thought that working out would give me energy, but I guess that will come with time. I found it difficult to eat breakfast after exercising, and I don't remember ever having that problem in the past. I felt nauseated. Anyway, I am excited that I started and hopeful to just keep with it and become a runner!

Completed Wk1D2 yesterday. Today is a rest day, although I am tempted as I'd love to speed up the process. I hear that the off days are important for muscle to repair, so I will be patient.

D2 was definitely more taxing than D1 but it seems that I went faster and farther than D1 (amazing as I felt dead!)

Also, attempting to write down what I eat and count calories. Using MyFitnessPal for that, and will look at the Sparks pages for recording food. But have the app etc and a bunch of food entered in the other app?

Need to lose 25 lbs, would love 10 of that by mid Oct which gives me 2 months. Reasonable as that is just over a pound a week!!

I have never been a runner, so hopefully, I will stick with the program. It is good for me and the dog!

I'm new to the team and also very new to running. I did a day to try out this new C25K app and then this morning I actually took it outside. I'm very self conscious about doing any workout outside so this morning I was up at 5:15am and out the door by 5:30 to do the half hour and be back to walk the dog before my guy left for work. I think if I can manage to wake up early to this every time I need to get cardio in, I should be great. All in all I don't have any soreness (yet) from the run, only a bit of soreness from a leg workout I did a few days ago and I was able to accomplish the half hour according to the app's instructions so I'm quite proud of myself.

Ran Day 2 today. It was much tougher because I had to run outside. I'm helping a friend move into her new apartment this evening, and if I want to go to the gym in the afternoon, I have to pay for parking (my school year parking permit expired so I have to get a new one). It was 86 degrees out, and luckily there was a light breeze, but not much. Still, I got through the run. And, according to my heart rate monitor, I burned 27 more calories than Day 1! Woohoo!

I graduated from C25k two years ago, but after suffering shin splints, I stopped running for a while, which turned into permanently stopping. I tried a couple times to get back into the program, working on distance rather than time, but the distance runs proved to be too hard once we got to Week 5 and beyond. I also always started at Week 3 because I knew I could, and probably can, still do those runs. But, I don't want to fail again, so I'm starting from scratch at Week 1, working on time. I completed Day 1 yesterday. It was my first run in 6 months, and it went pretty well!

QTLADY - way to go !!!! I am in the same boat....run 3 of week 1 and unsure if I should move on to next level. I like your idea of just trying it...I think that is what I will do.

And new shoes on my horizon....tomorrow.

Today is Week 1, Day 5- so last day of running for the first week. I'm not 100% sure if I will go on to Week 2 on Sunday or not, but I will see how I feel after today. Maybe I'll just try it anyway!

I also think I'm going to be looking at running shoes this weekend. I have shoes I have been using that are more for Cross Training, and I think they are a little heavier than running shoes.

My fiance and I started the Couch to 5K on Monday - and going out for walk/run # two tonight. We were inspired by my brother in-law who successfully completed the Canadian Death Race on the weekend. He did it in under 23 hours - 125 km through the Rockies. I said if he did it - I'd start running. And happily and luckily my fiance said he'd join me.

We are getting married in January and our goal is to be able to run 5K with my sister and her hubby while we are away.

I joined this group for motivation ! For me that's always a tough thing when starting something new. STICKING WITH IT !
