Well I didn't know that there were walking videos on tv...definitely going to check it out. Silly question...do you use them when you're walking on your treadmill? Thanks!!

I attempt to walk 5 days a week. The first two weeks I did it every day but I think I am bored with my route or something. I live in the country so my choices are limited but I have worked out three different routes now and that's helping. I do 2 miles a day. I am struggling to find something that I will do regularly for strength work or stretching for the other two days. I was going WII fitness plus every night till two kids moved back home and its really hard to get into the swing with spectators, so I started walking, which I really like. I just need to get back onto the WII those two days I don't walk :)

Well, I planned on water aerobics this evening but a thunderstorm put an end to that. It looks like I will be walking in my living room to a Lesley Sansone DVD.

Issy and I did our walk this morning. We missed the 2 mile marker and actually walked farther than we intended. I was dragging when I got home. Even at 7 a.m. it was almost too hot and humid to walk. Finished with 5 miles.

It's just too HOT to walk outdoors. I am concentrating on my water aerobics plus attended the Silver Sneakers exercise class at the Y. Intended to take the BOSU class Wednesday but it has been cancelled. I was disappointed about that as I want to strengthen my core and the class description said it focused on the core and balance training. I have another water aerobics class today.

Hi, I'm new to this SparkTeam but wanted to share with you my Challenges...

Since finding my SPARK, I've been active for at least 10 min everyday. That was back in March. Now, having just surpassed 100 days of consistent activity, I can finally say that this is now habit for me.

One thing that has helped me immensely is making use of the things I do have without adding the expense of new exercise equipment or gym membership. Walking my neighborhood is how I got started back in February and early March. I also re-introduced myself to my Kettlebell and Kettlebell Konnection DVD, which is how I lost 30 pounds just two summers ago.

Everyday I was reminded of a fitness tool we have collecting dust on the entertainment center. So in March, I joined Wii Fit Plus Spark Team. There is a Weekly Challenge that pushes us to get moving with the Wii Fit Plus. It's fun and challenging. Plus, I'll admit, I like the competitive nature of trying to best myself everyday. I watch the progress of others, too, and also try to beat those of us affectionately referred to as the "Challenge Chicks."

It's a long journey, but now I'm on my way.

Tell me something good!

I've found that riding a stationary bike doesn't hurt my hips, usually. I must have used it too long today, though. That or I shouldn't have added it to an equally long circuit training (using strength building machines). I'm still hurting from it.

I walked 45 minutes with a Spark friend and then later walked on the treadmill. Double duty for today. I am going to do a strength workout later today. Now, if I can just not blow it by eating too much today.

Get some sleep, John.

I signed up for my free 30 day membership to Curves last week. I only went once. : ( But I called and made an appointment for tomorrow. I also invited my neighbor to walk 2 miles with me every other day. She's the type that will walk around to my back door and yell for me to get my shoes on...No excuses for not going. With her, I know I'll stick to walking. She won't give in to my excuses for not wanting to go. Here's to meeting my goal for walking.

I have worked out every day this week. Mon, Wed and yesterday I did Tae Bo; Tuesday and today I did Turbo Jam. Every day exceeded the 30 minutes of my daily goal. I do hope I can keep up the momentum.
Everyone seems to be doing pretty good. Keep on moving. Baby steps before we can walk; walk before we can run. Just keep moving.
Have a great evening and a happy weekend. emoticon

I'm supposed to be going to the gym three times (or more) per week. I do this for most weeks and sometimes while I'm there I'll walk 1/2 mile.

If I walk more than 1/2 mile, my hips hurt! Using the Elliptical Trainer was recently suggested and I've tried that out once so far.

KRYSTYNASWORLD, I hope you keep it up. It gets easier with time. I was very ill and couldn't walk at all. When I finally started to walk (after months of therapy) it was literally one step at a time. At first I measured my walk by walking to the gate, then to the mailbox, then gradually to my neighbor's mailbox and then to the next mailbox. And so on and on and on. When I moved to the neighborhood where I live now, I walked to the park, about three blocks, and had to rest before I came home. Now I can walk three miles. I am sweaty and out of breath but I make it. Just hang in there and remember that every step you take brings you closer to your goal.

I am trying to increase my steps by 100 every week. That may not sound like much but when you have spent 14 years in a wheelchair, it is huge. I am up to 2,100 steps a day besides doing all my own cleaning and cooking and laundry.

I am very limited on what I can do for exercise since I have AS. But I do count steps since it is one of the few things I can do other than free weights. I am trying for 2,000 steps a day but missed by less than 300 for last month. So I will up my challenge and try for 2,100 steps a day and push myself.

I sure can relate too the pain thing. The only time I have had relief in a very long time was last week when I was on oral steroids for Asthmatic bronchitis. Now that I am done the pain is returning due to a rheumatological problem. I will keep on trying too walk as far as I can.

I would kill to be able to try a Zumba class! Today was laundry day here, so I got 4 loads done (still not finished for the week), finally got caught up on some e-mails and made an outrageously delicious supper. Did the dishes and will relax later on with a little TV. Not a lot of exercise there. The Dr. would like to see me try for 2,000 steps a day. Most days, I make it. On others I don't. It depends on the pain level. Isn't that the truth for most of us? Others of us are just plain lazy too. That often fits me as well.
