Three things I will do today better, consistent, or differently than yesterday
1) Stay on point: use my meditative breathing to maintain focus, refocus, and write down distractions to return to at the end of my 25 or 50 min focus blocks
2) Abstain from sugar. I have healthy snacks prepared so I should be good
3) Knock out that paper due Friday AM by 10pm tonight

Tonight/Tomorrow's Priority To-Do list:

1. Planning for the coming week: A) Mind dump (list all tasks occupying brain, narrow down to priority projects and constituent tasks, plus the important stand-alones) B) Weekly plan (sort tasks into weekly plan for this week through coming weeks (what needs doing this week, what can be spread out?), and distribute tasks over the week C) identify 3 Big tasks and 3 small tasks for each day to feel good about (inclusive of what is already planned)

I'm just going to start here. Boom. Let's DO this! :-)

These 3 item lists are a great help to me. It can be hard to stick to the list and hard to not add to the list. I usually have a master list on the other side of the page to write the things that are distracting me on. Practicing Self-Discipline is also always helpful for me. So after the 3 are done I get to add 3 more.

I have also been noticing that reporting my action plans (goals) to others is helping them get done when they normally wouldn't for one reason or another. So I am going to try and post a few 3 item lists here. See how it goes. I may just get distracted by the computer. I have been wasting too much time on here.

Been trying this 3 item to-do list. Funny, with my distractability it is harder than I thought, but I've made a basic challenge to myself to each day follow meals tracker and then plan the next day's menu, to either do my exercise dvd or some walking, and third to work 1 hr. on the house (de-clutter, more than regular cleaning/chores) or take load to Goodwill/organize pick-up or redistribution, etc. This has worked for four days. Maybe not a streak quite yet, but getting there.

i have to go out there in the mix of sleet and freezing rain and shovel the 3 feet of wet snow from the front sidewalk so the mail carrier can get to the mailbox, im 100lbs overwt and over 60..... but it has to get done.or the wont deliver the mail and if they try to and fall i could get sued.


2 i have to go and spend time with my father who has been snowed in and isolated for 3 days in this blizzard. I havent been ble to walk down bcz the snow has been up to my hips..... finally yesterday the neighbors all cleaned their sidewalks and the city plowed the road.


3 i have to make dinner today


if i have time id like to takle the piles of stuff in my room that ive been putting off organizing for the past 4 weeks. every day i put it all on and around my bed to work on and every night i toss it all off to go to sleep

so that is 4 things......... and its already almost noon

Unload dishwasher and fill it
Cook and pack lunches
10 minutes of cardio and yoga stretches

I could go on but that is the top 3 and all the while entertaining my 7 month old! Grant me the strength, clarity and motivation to put me and my welfare first... like put the air mask on me first then the others in your life.

1. follow my planner for the work day
2. Laundry (at least one load) washed, dried, folded AND put away

That is what is hard about wanting to lose weight or eat healthier or exercise more or deal the the distractions of ADHD--some days we just don't do well. I appreciate the fact that you missed some and did some. That's me.

Today my goal is to do laundry, make the bed, sweep the floors and clean the bathroom. That's four so maybe I will get something done.

CONGRATS UMMALIKAH! emoticon Having ADHD and children would make it extra hard to accomplish anything. emoticon
I did 2 out of 3 and feel okay about it since I usually wait until the last minute to do almost anything!

Now, my biggie for tomorrow is.....

Hi UMMALIKAH! I wish you great luck with your tasks today especially the time with your children.

I hope today to: keep my appointment; go to Petco and get my cat, Baby, what he needs, and maybe buy some milk. Since I take the public bus, I hate to carry heavy things but I need milk. If I don't buy milk, change the bed sheets. emoticon

I didn't do well on the 11th with my tasks. Tomorrow I am hoping to go to my appointment (4 buses and about 30 minutes walking total). I did do the dishes today and even though it is 2 days late, I did it. Tomorrow I am also hoping to clean the litter boxes and change the bed sheets.

I noticed that no one has responded here since September but I need this topic since I struggle to finish anything daily. It is a miserabel struggle and I want to be accountable to myself. So, what I want to do today is:

1. Clean in the bathroom

1- review my old advisors paper ( I am co-author)

2-Finish the intro and methods section of the paper I am writing including updating references

So I am home from work and did not finish even number one on my list. One of my problems is that I always think things will take me less time than they do plus when I get distracted things tend to take even longer. Good news is that my advisor says that the first thing on my list should've taken all day and I almost finished. I will still try to read the paper.

Artielle I wrote my list yesterday and left it hanging on my computer before I left work. So it is staring me in the face now. I should start working on it but here it is:

1 finish writing code for age at diagnosis variable (don't ask ...part of my dissertation work ...diagnosis of diabetes not ADHD ;) )

2 Work on any/no table (again part of my dissertation work)

3 read paper on sunlight exposure (only given this paper 2 weeks ago)

Hi ladies, just decided to check out this thread again, glad I did.

IWANTTO SLEEP- I had to laugh when I read that you came back to check your list because you forgot what was on it. I can soooo relate to that. It takes me a half hour to decide on the three items for my list, then I forget which things are there. It is early here, I need to go now and decide what todays priorities are. will post in half an hour.

I finished the reading and started my poster this morning so this took care of yesterday's list. Kind of late to start a list for today although I will try to get more done on my poster.

For tomorrow:

1- write an email I was asked to research and write today

2- Finish my table for thursday's meeting

3-register for membership in the American Society of Hygeine and Tropical Medicine (seriously need to do this cause I will be presenting a poster at their conference in November)

Plus all my other things that need to get done.

WHAT HAPPENED to this thread?
I think this is one of the most beneficial threads I have read. I haven't posted here, but I have been accomplishing 3 items every day since I started reading here.
I know that ADDers are notorious at losing interest, getting bored. But I hope this thread does not die out.

SallyAnne0852, if u have mail that's 6 months old, I would say it's safe to run it all through a shredder! On the other hand; you can sort them into bills, junk, etc. and then shred all the junk and all but the most recent bills which should eliminate the majority of your 2 clothesbaskets full!

MVILLA_79, thanks for making me feel a little better about myself. I think most people just automatically shower or bathe as soon as they are awake. But, I do have to remind myself. I even have it on one of my calendars!

my 3 item to-do list today:

* Clean and de-clutter coffee table - Done
* Clean outside of suitcase and put back in closet - Done
* Wash rest of dishes (started on yesterday) - DH did this one, so I did one or two other small things to de-clutter my living room!

i have 2 clothesbaskets full of mail, from the past 6 months i never even looked at ........

so, i guess ill .........
1. clean the pantry ( put away the clean dishes in the strainer)
2. OH there are clothes in the washer, i forgot! I guess ill hang them out
3. The Mail.............

unless Dad needs me or unless the 85 yr old woman i help needs me...i kind of organize my day around them. I haven't had a call yet. so, those are my 3 things.

Ill keep you posted. wish me luck.............sure wish i could afford concerta

Everyone is doing terrific! Give yourself a Spark Goodie for each task completed!

Here's my 3 Items for today:

Go to Tai Chi class! - Done
Record all nutrition for the day! - recorded two meals (for me that's pretty good)
Take a shower! (Yes, I have to remind myself to Shower.) - Done on 6/8!

Since it's almost 11 PM here, I'm going to tell you my list for tomorrow. I have at least one other "errand" to do, but that wouldn't fit the "Three Item" rule!

Pickup a prescription.

Exercise at gym for 30 minutes.

Wash and dry a couple loads of laundry (at laundromat).

I've often read that people with ADD/ADHD need VERY short To-Do lists. Therefore, I challenge you all to either join me on the "3 Item To-Do List" on the Spark People "Stay Motivated" page OR we could start our own!!

My list on "Stay Motivated" goes like this:

Pick up laundry and a prescription
Buy a loaf of bread
Go to Tai Chi class - DONE
