First thing I do is write it all down. Write what I am feeling and why. If I get angry or cry, then so be it. The point is to get it on paper and out of my head. Then I move on to non-food things like games, TV, or a good book. If it's a number of weeks and I'm still struggling, I try to make an effort to visit family and friends and get out of the house more until it passes.

MUSIC HELPS EVERY TIME. I PUT ON SOMETHING REALLY UPBEAT AND ROCK OUT. BUT IF DH IS HOME, I HAVE TO JUST SETTLE DOWN WITH A GOOD BOOK AND CLOSE THE BEDROOM DOOR SO I DON'T HEAR HIS SPORTS (OR FOX NEWS) ON TV. A WALK SOMETIMES HELPS AND JUST GETTING OUT OF HERE FOR AWHILE. WHEN YOU ONLY GET OUT ONCE A WEEK AND HAVE NO CONVERSATIONS OTHER THAN WITH THE CHECKER AT THE GROCERY STORE, IT GETS PRETTY LONELY AND I AM NOT A QUIET PERSON.

I hope you are feeling better soon Katrina.

I do lots of different things.... read, take a bubble bath, go for a walk, spend time with God, do something for someone else (getting my mind off of myself helps), hang out with my son, go on SparkPeople, try to change my thinking by being thankful.

I m learning to communicate to others to help me thru my feelings writing blogs has helped me alot

also to take a walk; listening to music or reading a book

I usually read a book or watch a funny movie or show on TV or sometimes I just get on Spark People.

My biggest challenge is to stay connected. I tend to dissocate, and that only makes things worse. I need to be mindful in everything I do. Eventually, I find my way back and find my inner strength to exercise and fight the fog of depression off.

I hate to say it, but I've lost this recenlty. The fog is winning right now. I don't like it. Not at all

IN THE PAST I WOULD HAVE GONE TO THE KITCHEN AND GOT INTO EVERYTHING, IT TOOK A LONG TIME TO STOP DOING THAT

What do you do when you get hit with triggers or bad feelings or are just having a short blue spell? What small things do you like to do to take your mind off the negative event and redirect it? In other words, what small things do you or can you do to cheer yourself up?
