This past week I only managed a meager .4lb loss, but, I will take it....a loss is a loss. After sonny-boy goes home I will be able to get back to my program full force so I am not too concerned about the small loss.

Way to go Ronda!
I lost my 1 pound this week Jan 6 to 13th. It sure wasn't easy! I am having a hard time getting back on the program. I do about 4 days well and then I slip. Won't give up though! Too much at stake...like my life!

Listed as Goatherder's Recipe Collection and is public. Try the Blueberry Baked Oatmeal on page 2 (also in Spark Recipes). I play with the recipe and it is never exactly the same, but is my go to recipe. Last time I added a 3rd egg because I had 1 left over, added a diced banana, added 1 t pumpkin pie spice and some dried mixed berries - and some raisins. I actually forgot to add the frozen blueberries. It turned out great and is the mainstay of every breakfast and a take along if I need to be out during a meal time.

Goatherder I tried that and did not see you on the list of recipes. Maybe when someone else new joins us they can try to look to and see if it is just me. I am wondering if your spark privacy settings also impact the recipe site. Hard to tell though until someone else can try too.

I believe the key is drinking lots of water and watching what you consume. I do not always go down, but the trend is down. I log my weight every morning about the same time even though daily weighing is discouraged by some. I feel it helps focus me. Check out Goatherder's Recipe Collection in Spark. I begin each day with the same breakfast: Blueberry baked oatmeal (I use a mini loaf pan and bake about once per week) which is good warm or cold, an orange and a banana. I eat at least 5 fruits and vegetables each day and my breakfast gets me off to a great, low calorie, filling start. You can do it! One day at a time. Each day gives you a fresh start if you have an off day.

Goatherder, congrats on each one pound of weight lost on the scale. Am just starting a diet to lose 100 pounds myself and on the first week and using the SparkCoach program and earning 100 Spark Points a day. Am afraid to get on the scale and planning to weigh myself following the first full week on the new program and hoping to weigh one pound less on that date, however have heard some people lose up to 0.5 pound a day if weigh a lot to start

On the diet Extreme Transformation and carb cycling, with additional emphasis on increasing fiber grams to 35 g/daily and lowering fat grams daily.

Try drinking a glass of water then wait 15 minutes and ask yourself that same question. Mind over matter. As of this morning I am down 40 pounds since joining Spark People. Establish a routine of eating healthy choices and drinking plenty of water and it will get easier. We can do this! Each day gives us a fresh start. Today is the first day of the rest of your life.

I have been trying to ask myself, "Am I really hungry?" It helped me to not go to McDonald's and get a Big Mac meal, large size, of course, with a "free" apple pie. Because I thought about it. "Am I really hungry?" I really wasn't. I just wanted to eat. I just wanted to taste the comfort that meal initially gives me. But I've got to change my ways. So I think I'll try to ask myself more often, "Am I really hungry?'

The cabbage added to the sauerkraut gives you the same flavor but with added bulk. Your husband will not notice much difference from just sauerkraut and sausage. If you shred the cabbage like in sauerkraut, it will all look the same also.

Have you tried bean tostadas? Toast corn tortillas and top them with a mix of mashed pinto beans and salsa and a sprinkling of cheese and put them back in the oven at 375 until the cheese melts. 2 of them for a serving. A quick, simple meal with a salad or fruit.

I haven't tried the kaputsta recipe yet. I bought all the ingredients & my husband wanted me to make just the sauerkraut & sausage. I still have the cabbage. I will make it one day next week. I will also try the spaghetti, white beans, etc also. That sounded delicious, also.

Pennicle,
I to have been "off" a bit. Every time I start to try too hard, it just backfires on me.
The Kaputsta recipe is wonderful.

After being in and out, I finally printed my grocery plan, meal plan, and today I was on target!
What is amazing is that that my dietician is right in that the meals are planned in a way to help us feel full.

Today I made whole wheat spaghetti, white beans, spinach, sour cream, parmesan. I made enough freeze a serving. It is a SP recipe on my menu plan.

Getting back on track can be difficult, and I'm no one to lecture. I can just say how good it feels to get back on track for ONE day.

If you like cabbage, try Kapusta. I make a simple one, 148 calories per serving. 3 slices of bacon, fry it in a big pot, chop up an onion and cook it until it begins to brown, chop up a head of cabbage (fill the pot), when it has wilted and cooked down a bit, add a big can of sauerkraut - drain it if you don't like the vinegar - simmer it for several hours. Brown and add some sliced up sausage - Turkey sausage, Chicken sausage, Italian sausage - it doesn't matter - simmer another hour, add water if necessary - and enjoy. Filling, guiltless, low calorie and good as well as good for you.

I have been unmotivated also for a few weeks. I have a problem with being hungry all the time. I'm going to eat more vegetables & keep busy so I stop eating so much.

You can do it if you want to. It is all in the mind set. You must be ready to begin changing your life. Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Move some, drink lots of water and be aware of everything you eat. We can do this!

I have really been unmotivated and sloppy about focusing on my weight loss goals lately, so this week I am committing to losing that one pound!

Great on the 4 pounds. Remember that each day gives you a fresh start. Consistency wins the race.

I am down 4 pounds this week. I have been counting my calories, except for yesterday. I'm encouraged although I know part of that had to have been water loss.

I was down another pound this morning. It looks like moving my body and eating right is working. I have been drinking more water than usual and that may be helping also. emoticon

Where are we folks?
I must get a re-start.
I see others need the same!
Where shall we start? the SP plan?
Making sure we exercise?

Humm, Goatherder--maybe my differing speed accounts for the slight changes in my calorie count.
Carol, I read your page--so many parts I could have written (I too was at the "no more free fruits" on weight watchers once.
I noted your notes on the daily tracker for exercise, and thought that I could make some daily notes on my "excuses." Merci, I have so many of them.
Doctor's visits with my sister, another visit from a sister, a bit of cooking for a friend with a small casserole for myself--and before I know it I'm "off" the charts.

It is my understanding that the magic trackers that calculate calories also include a speed factor to help track aerobic steps as well as just total daily steps which may be done at any speed.

Hi Folks,
I'm wondering. . . . I purchased a tracker that works in the water, and it does a nice job of tracking my activity in and out of water, including steps. The problem is that almost always it tracks my activity as about the same each day. For example, today I walked 6K steps--you'd be surprised how many steps can be made cooking up a recipe for frozen meals (for a friend). Anyway, I feel like I spent way more calories, for I always did some weights.
In other words it shows me using about 2200 calories per day whether I exercise or not.
So, I'm wondering if it is just using my body information and not factoring in my calories that I burn working out or walking. I guess I am not the best with the trackers.

I was down a pound this morning. It has been a week since my last pound drop. Every day we need to watch what we eat and move.

One time, many years ago, I lost and was back to my 'normal 132'.. I looked like a deflated balloon. It was discouraging after I had starved and exercised. Eventually I gained back the weight. I believe if I had liked the way I looked...I might have worked harder to keep it. I have lost and gained over & over again. This time, I will have to be happy with my pound or so a week. I eat around 1200 calories a day, "NOT" that you asked!? lol Hope you are doing well.

Hi Carol,
Your loss exactly mirrors mine. I was averaging 1 lb per week. I wanted to up it to 2, but I don' t know if I can.
Also, if I can avoid sagging skin, I'll slow down."IF" I'm hoping.

I am impatient when waiting for my 'one pound'. Sometimes takes 2 weeks. Then it will be 2 or 3. I am averaging a pound a week. emoticon
